I used to have angels; they used to watch over me

It was after midnight when the female finally entered the lands, slinking past the border and taking a familiar path through the woods. For the last few days she had been all over the place...she'd gone back to the old, burned territory for a day to lay the pups down to rest, and then seen Skoll in the Sugarwoods. A talk with him had inspired her to return to the packlands, if only to care for Apollo. She didn't have it in her to see the pack right now, not so soon after what had happened. It had been a real comfort to have Deuce there with her, a seasoned wolf who had experienced many births and miscarriages.

Now that her cramping had decreased, travelling was easier for her. She had returned the night before to come in and check on Apollo before leaving again, heading to her mother's area down near Halifax. She didnt' know if it was the pack in general that she didn't want to see or if it was Conri. How could she tell him about what had happened? It was all her fault that their children were dead.

Despite the soreness of still healing ribs and the lack of much needed rest, Conri was out in the lands searching for his mate. It seemed like days since he had last seen her, though her scent was clear inside the house the night before, she hadn't shown herself at all. Sick with worry, the young Alpha forced himself away from the house, leaving the few pups that they had in the lands left in the care of the other residents that lived inside with them. He wasn't sure what was wrong, if she was sick or injured or even just upset about the argument that they had gotten in to. They had both apologized though, rejoiced in the fact that they would soon be parents, and had spent a fairly good evening together after that. Was it something else?

At some point, as the hybrid weaved his way in and out of trees, searching the air for her scent, a sound from just off in the distance drew his attention. As he grew closer the scent hit him, alerting him to the fact that it was his mate, and before he even knew it he was off and running. When he managed to get close enough to see her, she was heading away from him, and he sped up to put himself right in her path, though not close enough that he would bump her. "Nani?" He called out to her, just before stopping himself right in front of her.

Sexy table <3 You are the King Queen of tables.

She knew full and well that she was a hypocrite. Way to leave the pack unprotected. But now she didn't think that they had anything to worry about...she'd talked to Gabriel, and they had come to an agreement. So no unwarrented threats from Inferni for a while...at least until after everything was done and over with. She'd hoped to have had the pups by then--then she would have been able to protect the borders, too.

It was dark, so she doubted that he could see her completely. So...he wouldn't be surprised just yet. Maybe surprised wasn't the right word. Shocked. Horrified. "Yes...it's me."

The night was eerily dark and Conri could barely make out her form despite the stark white color of her coat. The shroud of trees above them didn't help matters either, and when Conri was sure that she had stopped he reached out a hand to lay it against her shoulder, suddenly concerned. Her voice was quiet and she had been gone for so long that Conri had no other choice but to think that there was something going. What was in his head wasn't what was really going on though. He was certain that she was suddenly uncertain of their relationship, that she had gone away to think about things and now she had finally returned to tell him that she was leaving him.

"Is something wrong Nani?" His own words were quiet, laced with a whine that could tell the world that doom was coming.
