A painted white maw snuffled through the snow and snorted as snow filled the nasal cavity. A short growl escaped from deep in her chest as Anon padded along the snow drifted slopes with heavy steps. She was tired, and it was blasted cold, but she would keep moving till she reached "home". It was interesting that the pack had welcomed her like family and then let her leave just as suddenly without question. There was a lot of not questioning in the deep caves of Anathema. Most of the time everyone kept to themselves, and if they didn't they gossiped it seemed. Anon didn't pay much attention to others, making sure not to get close to anyone. It had been a long time trait of hers to stay distant. It had its good and bad factors, good being that she was never bothered to care about anyone about herself, and bad because she was often left alone. She couldn't tell you how many times she sat in a corner eating by herself. A part of her ached for socialization, and another part of her was disgusted by it.

she hadn't realized she stopped moving to stand deep in thought, and pushed on. Her nose lifted to the air and she let the scent of Anathema drift into her. Call her. The she-wolf stopped at the border and waited what seemed hours, but was meerly minutes. Her fur rose and she began to pace, a good 6 meters back and forth. Still waiting. Argh! What is taking them so long! She wouldn't just trot right onto the land, she knew better, but oh how it was tempting. To just go back to her den, which she sure was taken by now, and settle in for some nice warm sleep. How long had it been since she slept? How long since food had touched her stomach? Shaking her head she glared at the silence. The only noise to be heard was her rattled cold breath. She was displeased that no one had been patrolling by as she arrived and grew more and more impaitent. With a deep rumbling growl she threw back her head and let out a short howl. That will get someones attention. She smiled with satisfaction at the thought of someone coming to her call.

This day had been passing like most others - entirely uneventfully. Naniko had a particular routine and stuck to it through thick and thin. The only thing that she'd done outside of her normal routine had been to check on Alaki and see how his healing was coming. It seemed as if he was doing better, his wounds pinking up a bit (which was a sign of new tissue growth) but he was a long way from fully recovered in Naniko's opinion. She wasn't the herbalist that she used to be, but she had enough knowledge to know that one wouldn't just get up out of bed and walk away from such injuries. So for now, she was the sole active leader, the only one who could patrol and accept newcomers into the pack. This was what she was mainly focused on today.

She would let Alaki rest his head and regain his strength so that he could come back stronger and better than ever. He deserved such rest for what he had done for her: he had essentially saved her pups' lives. The two had admitted to what had happened easily enough when she had interrogated them. They'd been poking fun at a bear, trying to see who could get the closest to it without waking it and making it angry. This in itself was dangerous, but the children had seen it as more of a game. That is, until the slumbering beast had woken up in a rage and had began to attack. They were lucky Alaki had been so close, or they might not have been there to come back and tell their mother the tale.

All that she could hope for was that they may have learned a lesson from it all. She'd watched as they had gotten into bigger and bigger trouble each day, watched as they had disobeyed her and taken their punishments for it. Nothing had been able to phase the boys - no matter what punishment she thought of, they would always go back to causing trouble again once they were out of her sights. Hopefully this lesson had left a lasting impression...because Alaki had nearly paid with his life for what those disorderly whelps had chosen to do that day.

A nearby howl caught her attention, and she turned to stare down the mountainside. It wasn't very far away at all, and she was surprised that she could not yet see the other canine. As she neared, it became apparent why - among the backdrop of the mountain, Anon was next to invisible to her eyes. Her pelt was made of colors that blended in easily with the timber, snow, and boulders of Halcyon. Naniko came toward her with a puzzled look on her face, head tilted to the side in curiosity. What had brought her back to Anathema after all of this time?

It wasn't often that someone came to rejoin the pack, but when they did they were welcomed back immediately. It was one of the unique things about Anathema, the trust that they had in their members. She came forward with a smile on her face, stopping a yard or two away so as not to invade Anon's personal space too much. "You've returned, then?" She questioned. It wasn't said harshly, just in her normal gravelly tone. She had watched many members leave...but few had the guts to return.

The pacing had stopped, for Anon's feet had grown tired. Instead the deep gaze just glared deep into the snow littered slopes and dark timbers. A light breeze shook the thick pelt of the she-wolf, but not enough to let even the slightest bit of cold in. Her black nose was moist from the bitter cold though, and she snuffled every so often subconsiously. She wasn't entirely sure how long she had been standing and waiting for someone to hear her call, but was sure that if someone didn't bloody show their face soon she would just walk right onto the territory. It was her home wasn't it? So who gave a rats arse. The satisfaction of her call was slowly seeping away as the minutes grew longer and her tail swished from side to side. It was a habit of hers, and not one that meant she was pleased. Far from it actually, as she didn't see the need to wait on someone every time she wanted to enter the territory again, but knew what could happen. Logically it would be insane, but the cold was starting to strip her toes of any feeling, her nose as well.

When piercing emerald eyes appeared on a slope ahead, she almost felt the need to take a step back. The swishing stopped. Every hair on her body stilled, seeming to forget the slight breeze just a moment ago. Her breath caught. Naniko was the last wolf she expected to see patrolling the borders. Memories of their first meeting in these same woods so many moons ago flooded back to her mind. She remembered the dagger, and the scar ached. She was blood, family to them, and Naniko. The snow pelted Angela came forward with a smile and Anon could feel the bile in her stomach rise to uncomfortable heights. The minute she stopped Anon couldn't help but almost fall back a few steps as if the wind had been knocked from her body. She didn't trust Naniko in the slightest, she had heard many things of the twisted female and her horrid mood swings. Not to mention she remembered all to well their first meeting, how hostile it was, some on her part, some on that brute, Alaki's, part. Snorting, she remembered how much she almost expected to see him here, giving her just as much hell as he always did.

When Naniko spoke it startled her once more and she looked at the she-wolf with nervous eyes, but a blank face, holding no emotion. Alaki seemed to have that affect on her often. No emotion. Naniko's question was simple enough, nothing bitter about it. Returned. She supposed that was true, seeming to feel out of place much more than in Anathema. It was full of outcasts, those who didn't fit in, who needed a soft bed and some nice food to keep them going. Most had stayed because they grew attached in some way. Anon just needed the bed and food. She didn't plan to get "attached" to anyone or anything. Certainly not one place. The call had been to strong though. She felt need to be back, to crawl safe within the underground caves.

"Yes, it seems I have." Was her also simple reply.

This'll be short; I'm between classes c: But Welcome back anyway! We can continue with them talking and going to the caves if you'd like? Or end it Smile Up to you! WC: 571

She had created the laws for the pack for a reason - simplicity was part of it. It was much easier to just speak to the joiner at the border and reaffirm that they were going to rejoin the pack and let them back in then make them do the entire process again. They had been loyal to the pack once, and as long as they planned to take that back up when they returned and do the things that she asked, she was fine with letting them back under the protective wing of Anathema. She could remember how things with Anon had gone the last time and did not expect a fluffy welcome from the other female. She would get the information out of her and then either let her back in or send her away.

The other female stated that she had indeed returned. Well, perfect. Naniko gave a nod in return, then a short yawn. "Well, come along then. You know where everything is already, so I expect you to get back in the swing of things quickly." She stated. The Angela turned from Anon then, padding a few steps back into the territory before looking back at her once more. "Anathema always has space for members of the family." The green-eyed canine then turned back toward the mountain, walking toward one of the cave entrances. She expected that Anon would follow, having been given the go-ahead now to come back. That had been all that the Angela had needed to hear.

Sorry its been so long, I think I have my muse back. We will date this back to the 8th when I fist started it :]

In Character

The encounter had from the start been nothing that the black and white female had expected. Her breathe was still caught most of the time and eyes wide with nervousness. Why was Naniko, her angela, one that many had talked about in strange cold ways, being so nice to her today? Surely she was upset about the howl, calling for someone. Anon had done that at another pack and nearly got her face tore off once. Or maybe that was the fact that she just happened to pick the wrong time and found the absolute wrong wolf to encounter.

Now that Naniko was not heavy with pups, she seemed in a much better mood. At least for the time being. She began to trot behind the white female with light unheard steps. She aknowledged the she-wolfs words with the slightest of smile, untouching her eyes and a nod of the head. The less she talked, the less warmth left her body at the moment, and her nose was becoming numb. They were a ways onto the teritory when she remembered who had been waiting off in the distance, watching the communication of the two wolves. Anon glanced forward to see Naniko and then looked back just as quickly, tossing her head into the air and letting out a short howl.

She had stopped and was waiting, probably under the eyes for her alphess, but didn't care much, she waited. Soon the thundering sound of hooves was upon them and a black and white mare was racing towards Anon with a bit of urgence. The mare stopped just short of the two and sent snow spraying a bit. Anon let out a yip to the gorgeous creature and it bent down to nuzzle her. This was the closest thing Anon had come to love in a long time, and it was from a beast that couldn't do more then whiney and nuzzle her. Or kick her if upset. The mare wasn't really as tall as some horses, especially as not as tall as some in Anathema, and the reason Anon had taken to her so easily was she was picked on a lot for her size, always bein nipped. The ebony black color covered the front of the mare and washed out into an ivory white down her back. Really a stunning creature.

Anon looked back to Naniko with a bit of a smile and shrugged her shoulders. She hadn't mentioned a horse, and she was aware of this, but how could she just let the poor thing fend for itself in the snow? That just really was unfair. She hoped that the Angela's compassion for the day extended well past its normal bounds and she allowed the beast to come with.

"Her name is Aldieb.." Anon said quietly, eying Naniko carefully.

Tis fine - but we can end this now yesh? :3 I talk to ya nearly every day on AIM, but XD; yeah. Feel fre to poke me next time I ever take this long to get to a thread with ya. It got to the second page and I lost ya <3

She could remember what it had been like to be a loner. Cold, hungry, and alone. When she had first come to Halcyon to form her pack she'd seen it as an unforgiving territory...but one that could be taken and molded to her own liking with time. They'd found the caves soon after coming and had taken refuge in it from the snow, just in time for a large blizzard that had swept through the area. Without the caves, the pack might not have survived the natural disaster. She respected the place that they lived in and had made an adjustment to cave life during her time there.

The caves provided the pack with so many different resources, protection being one of the most important. She turned back when she did not hear footsteps behind her and waited for the female to speak with a cross expression on her face. A horse? Whatever - plenty of members had horses. "Yeah, yeah. Come on, I haven't got all day. We've got an above-ground stable now that a member built...the beast can stay there or in the cave stables." It'd be up to Anon to decide where she wanted to house the animal.
