The wisdom of the innocent

Regner stormed along through the forest, fuming angrily over his recent encounter, only the reassuring presence of Adelle stopping him from taking his anger out on the skull adorned border still off to his right. While the puppy didn’t fully understand what had just happened, not understanding English well at all and being too young to fully understand the angry tones being tossed about, she was fully aware of her grandfather's angry and distressed state and as Regner moved along he constantly felt her small muzzle bump the back of his ankle, Adelle providing comfort in the only reliable way she knew and understood, body contact.

As small as the gesture was Regner's extreme fondness for his granddaughter meant that it was working and while Regner was still angry he didn’t let it show or affect his actions, instead he just carried on purposefully, moving along the Inferni border as quickly as he could without putting strain on Adelle. While it was good for her to be walking and building a bit of endurance up the last thing he wanted to do was leave the young hybrid drained of energy with the cold conditions that faced them now.

And so the two continued onwards, Adelle periodically reassuring Regner of her presence while Regner just as regularly swung his head suspiciously towards the Inferni border, casting a smouldering glare towards the skull-lined scent line but doing little else to show his distaste of the inhabitants that dwelled within.
