Rolling Hills Call Away

OOC Jan 25

The festival was fantastic. In Terra's mind, it was a blessing for her burning body. The craving was still there, and she was heading back for more fun and games, and hopefully stopping the burning that ran through her. Her mind was distracted when she caught scent of another canine though. Her curiosity, though subdued, still was there and Terra followed it back to a pack. Crimson Dreams, where Soran used to live. She could honestly say that seeing it again gave her a pine of sorrow, remembering how easily the old wolf had turned on her. It wasn't her fault, but the pack Soran had chosen to join.

Pushing the feeling aside Terra trotted along the borders. She'd been invited in before, and was contemplating using that as a reason to enter the lands again. Terra had no strict motivation for doing any such thing though, and the call of the crowds and the press of bodies still called to her. She'd have to shift to optime once she got there, but for now she was perfectly satisfied trotting along in her small form, sniffing at the borders and contemplating all the changes that had been happening. She wasn't the same coywolf that had come to the lands, so lost. She was growing up, and becoming more and more fluent with the changes and ways of luperci.

[html] thanks for starting

The male had returned from the festival and headed straight for his room and his rickety bed. The excitement had caused him to become tired, yet it was exhilarating to be among so many canines. It was unlike anything he had ever seen, and from what he mother had said it was unlike anything the area had ever seen before. It was history in the making. The burnt brick male had even met one or two friends, though he wasn't sure if he would ever seen any of them again. Yet, when he returned he had slept soundly, dreams to wandering back to the market place drifting through his sleeping mind.

His paws fell into the powdered snow, mind no longer in need of rest but invigorated and ready for a new adventure. Oak had left the dagger he had traded the doe for in his room, and took to his lupus form to scout the borders. If he was lucky he would find the warm trail of prey and have himself a good meal. But he knew it was pertinent for him to secure the boundary closest to the trader's gathering. Loners and mischievous stragglers may drift into lands that the Dreamers claimed, and Oak would be there to stop them.

Black nose fell to the ground, the track was fresh, and the paw print warm. Oak took off after it, his light white and gray chin dropped, his mouth agar as he took in more cool air. It was a causal lope, not the intense stride one might take after a herd of does. Blue eyes came to see the female, whose scent was caught much further then Oak thought usual. It was odd, and made him a bit more eager to meet the stranger. She wore the scent of his brother's pack and thus was likely friendly rather then aggressive.

Courtier; you are awfully close to the Dreaming lands. He called, his comment coming from a friendly distance. He was curious to hear her explanation.

The scent of a male approaching seized Terra's attention. She turned rapidly, tail wagging as a dark colored wolf loped towards her. Even from a distance she could see his blue eyes, glinting in the sun. Her tail wagged briefly as she waited for him to catch up. So the trip had been worth it. If Terra was right, this was the same canine's scent that she'd caught earlier, though Terra wasn't completely confident of that. Her tracking skills were not the best.

Encouraged by his friendly greeting Terra smiled. Sorry for that. I found a scent, and followed it here. Didn't realize where I was until I looked up. Terra laughed softly as she trotted along the borders, coming to face him on the other side. She examined him curiously, noting his youth. He was very close to her own age. Terra stepped back slightly from the borders, making sure that she didn't look like a threat. Was it you I was following? Her words were simply curious, no real meaning behind it.

Oak knew well the alliance that Crimson Dreams held with Cour des Miracles. His family in particular had many thick ties to those lands. His older brother Haven resided and had built his family there, and his blood brother and littermate Alder called it home as well. But he knew that their King had come to these lands to visit, and spoke with his mother while the tree-named boys were just pups. Such memories and connections made a solid alliance between the packs, at least in his heart. Being a part of that pack made the female welcomed in the Dreaming lands, but not without respect being shown. Oak would never walk through her home without first calling for an escort.

She spoke, and her words were ones that eased the male. His posture changed, relaxing and his even met her wag of the tail with his own. He shrugged, It happens. his tone friendly. There was nothing malicious in the female’s tone or stance. They could be friendly neighbors couldn’t they? He smiled lightly and shook his head, No, I believe you were the one being followed.

I’m Oak, what’s your name? He hadn’t yet noticed the scent of the festival and the other wolves and coyotes on her, being more casual in his investigation then perhaps he should.

His tail wagged, matching her own. Terra listened to her words, head dipping slightly to catch them, enjoying the soft rhythm. He shook his head at her question, playful words responding. She grinned, turning the words into a game between them, a joy to bounce back and forth. Teasing Terra opened her mouth. Following my trail by my invitation, no doubt. She winked at him, knowing that her scent made it difficult for males to remain in control of themselves, while not leaving any gaps in her own armor. She still fought to keep the instincts from overwhelming her, pulling her into a battle with herself, though as time passed it grew easier.

She dipped her head lightly at his greeting. I'm Terra. Your Alder's brother? They certainly smelled similar, even under the differing packs, and their names were similar as well. She didn't hide his name, knowing that it could cause trouble if they really were related, and being pretty sure the packs were on good terms. After all, his greeting was rather casual and open than the typical greeting one would give a stranger, even one smelling as desirable as she was.

[html]Lol, Oak has no idea XD

Oak could tell that there was a difference in her scent then that of the other females he had come in contact with. He was well over a year and in his maturity, but that did not mean that he knew what to do with it. Oak would never consider himself to be sheltered, their lands saw just as much as the others. Didn’t it? But, even if he would not admit it the male was most certainly sheltered. The male brain did not always mature as quickly as the body. Her words rolled over his skull and he could only smile a bit, perhaps even looking a little goofy as he did so. Sure... her different pack’s scent had alarmed him and made him wish to track her.

When she mentioned Alder, the treeboy nodded. I am. We have a Cypress in our forest too. He knew the origin of their names, and to his mother it was a sacred ideal. Oak, respected her vision and he did feel a pang of guilt for not being completely respectful of his dear mother’s choice. But, it seemed that perhaps Terra would enjoy a bit of a light hearted joke. I hope my brother is behaving in the Court. The rusted hued male comment, it was another joke of sorts. For Alder could never make waves, even though he was the biggest of the three brothers.

OOC salright, Terra doesn't actually know either. Just knows that it's easier to talk guys into doing what she wants

A goofy look broke out on the young male's face. Terra giggled slightly at the sight, tail wagging happily. She was enjoying the light chat, with the border between them keeping her from going crazy with need. If she was invited in, however, it was a whole other game. Which meant, of course, that Terra was now extremely tempted to see if she could get inside and take a look around the pack lands. They were fairly close after all, and they'd just discovered their packs had relatives in each other. Not that it meant much in the long run, pack coming before family in such a situation. Still, the thought was there.

Terra burst into full out laughter at his forest joke. It wasn't fantastic, but she couldn't resist. He was such a goofy guy, Terra's tail wagging lazily behind her. It was funny knowing a bunch of family named after trees. Idly she wondered what traits they had to deserve such a thing. Trees had never struck her as anything beyond solid, always tripping her up, occasionally a cool place to rest under in the summer. Perhaps they were rather solid creatures? That fit Alder, with his shy quiet nature. She grinned softly as he joked about his brother. Behaving? I don't believe we know the same wolf! She winked at him before lying down, her eyes silently asking for an invitation.

The last thing that his mother needed to do was fret over Alder, though she did so all the time. He had survived without the Dreamers for this long, and he had gained his own co-rank and lived alone. The masked male could manage, Oak didn’t truly understand what she got upset over and didn’t wish to believe that it was simply because she missed him. Alder was the last to make any trouble for the Court’s King and all the Queens they had or what not. Oh maybe he’s settled down since moving there. Oak spoke with a small wink at the female.

She had lain on the ground and Oak wondered why. With a passing glance he spoke his curiosity. Did you wish to see Crimson Dreams? Oak turned, his tall swishing lightly with a mild excitement. She had came this close, was it for no reason? Or just to take a rest? It was not a custom to just let any beast that wandered by into the lands. But Oak could be a decent escort and she didn’t look like she could cause too much trouble.

Invitation granted Terra sashayed over the borders. She took a look around, examining the surroundings. They were quite nice, the fresh snow covering everything, pine trees swaying slightly in the wind. Grinning she turned to her escort. He was finally close enough for her to touch, to smell. The border no longer separated them. Part of her knew she was just asking for trouble doing this, but she stretched over, taking a deep whiff of his scent for her memories before nuzzling him slightly. A view of the lands would be lovely.

She stepped back, tail swaying as she surveyed the area. Unfamiliar with the place Terra was unsure what to expect. Part of her thought they might have human buildings on the grounds just like her own pack did, but another part had written the pack lands to be more like her birth pack, with crumbling ruins to dart around, knowing they could collapse at any time. Or perhaps it would be like the lands they wandered during summer, far from the city with the grass and hills surrounding them on every side, only the clear sky above them.

The male sensed that this particular female was just a bit different. Her movements were bordering on suggestive, and yet the male was unsure exactly what they meant. Instead of working to find the answer he simply accepted her antics as part of her personality. She came close to him, and he reacted with a raised brow and a bit of blushing rush of heat into his cheeks when she touched his russet hued fur. Oak had little to say, tongue a bit tied. He noticed her scent was again a bit different too, and it was odd how hard he had to work to clear his thoughts of it.

When he did shake free she was already off looking at the surrounding lands. The male trotted to her, an idea quickly brewing in his brain. We are not far from Rabbit Lake. It is pretty this time of year. Would you like to see it? Tore blue eyes looked at the green orbs of the female, wondering what she interested in. Crimson Dreams was a natural place, the cities of the human era had not touched the territory. Only Haven Manor and the small village were the human settlements Crimson Dreams had claimed.

OOC lol poor oak did we have other threads planned too? can't remember

Terra glanced over as Oak trotted up beside her. He seemed befuddled, struggling with how to deal with her. Smiling she looked back at the forest, allowing the scent and feel of the wind in her fur to sooth her. Flashing green eyes met soft blue ones, and Terra's tail wagged happily. It sounded like a wonderful place. Visions of rabbits nestling close to the water, ripe for the taking, danced through Terra's mind. His wanting to show her something beautiful amused her as well.

Calmly her ears lowered, silently submitting to him, letting him take the lead instead of leaving him to frantically try and deal with the mischievous girl pulling ahead of him. That sounds lovely. She looked around again, enjoying the feel of the land around her, the brush of the wind and the trees around her. She really should just slow down one of these days, take the time to just enjoy the feel of the lands around her. The Court was so rich, yet Terra spent so much time racing around she didn't absorb the feel of the land, the wealth it gave her.

Oak picked up his pace slightly, changing the mood from a leisurely stroll to traveling with a destination in mind. The coyote looking female followed with respect to his position, though Oak was far more casual knowing that she was no threat to the pack and his family. His physic was relaxed, ear and tail bouncing and swaying at each movement of his gait. Though he was unsure about her scent at its very core, the hormonal imbalance that triggered his confusion, Oak was able to ignore it.

How long have you lived in Cour des Miracles? It is a nice territory, though I have only been there once or twice. Oak questioned lightly, anything near pressing far from his tone. He had visited Alder, and remembered how different things were there then in Crimson Dreams.

Oak's relaxed happy air was contagious. Terra's tail wagged as she began to dance across the landscape, her young nature showing through. She smelled everything, occasionally darting over to where she smelled prey, or pausing to just contemplate the sky. Moving back over she rubbed against Oak, enjoying the stroll and the contentment that sat around them. It made her feel playful, though her games weren't very relaxing in nature. Perhaps this calm blue-eyed male would have something they could do.

The coyote bounced back over to the wolf's side, ears twitching at his question. Three months now. It's not very long, but the pack feels like home to me. It was very different from the life she'd lived before, but that was alright. Terra's very core was like a raging fire, constantly changing and flickering. She adapted, and adapted well to the lifestyle they were asking of her. Terra was happy with her life, even if parts of it were very confusing. And you? Have you always been part of this pack, or did you travel once upon a time? Her words were teasing, baiting for a reaction from the handsome male.

[html]sorry for the wait!

Her boundaries were unique, the male found as she moved away and then close again at a whim. She touched him without question, as if they had been friends for quite some time. The male took it as it came, and thought it playful and found himself lazily zigging and zagging as he walked. They had plenty of time to get where they were going, and he found that he was enjoying the journey more then he cared about the destination. Black tipped ears turned as she spoke. She had been a wanderer, and he nodded as her notion of the Court feeling like home. It was a hard idea to truly understand, for he had not been in such a situation.

Oak nodded, I have. My mother has been the second in command here for many years. I have not wandered very far. He admitted with a bit of a laugh. He was fairly content in the Dreaming lands, and had been warned about the eastern packs. He had ventured to his father’s homelands but it had only been a mistake to take the trip. You must have many stories, of your travels. Oak spoke, watching her keenly.

Oak relaxed as they moved, soon joining her in the meanderings. They did remain more or less wandering in the same direction as they'd started, but the feel of striving for a destination was gone. It was simply the two of them, enjoying the land around them and each other. Terra could think of plenty more ways that they could be enjoying themselves, most involving quenching the thirst inside her, but this movement fit him so well, moving Terra to a slower more calmed pace.

His admittance of of not having traveled far didn't bother Terra in the slightest. She would have never left her own birth pack if she'd had a choice in the matter. Being a luperci had quickly stripped that from her, forcing the months of traveling. It had changed her, making Terra a lot more curious and prone to wandering than she would have been before. She knew so much now that her pack didn't even dream of. Many stories, yes, though not all about my travels. The life of a wanderer isn't as glamorous as some pack wolves seem to think. It was very tough, and difficult.

Pushing such grim thoughts aside Terra moved over to Oak, nudging him softly. It must be nice, surrounded by those you grew up with. Her tone would have been wistful, if not for the hint of suggestiveness slipped inside it.

[html] Oak is in lupus form Wink

Oak had never believed that the outside world was a luxurious place. The great beyond was somewhat mysterious to him indeed, but he was neither fearful of them or in awe of them either. He had a healthy dose of curiosity for it of course, but that was were his needed to know what was outside Crimson Dream ended. Oak knew that these lands were his home, and the pack his family. His loyalty to them was deeply rooted, and as his name suggested the male had thick roots. Its dangerous, to go out alone. His tone a bit more serious.

Even between the packs in the realm of ‘Souls it could be dangerous, even when an allied pack was not far from a howl away. She drew close to him once again, speaking of his family. He had grown up beside his brother, but also the children of their Consul. The pack was a family, and they tended to act as so in most situations. Of course they all had their moments. But what family wasn’t a bit dysfunctional at time?

It is nice, this is the only home that I know and a part of who I am. What made you wish to leave yours? His question was light, curious and far from judgmental. He could only imagine that she had decided on her own that it was time to venture out, not knowing the truth.

OOC so is Terra! can't believe i forgot that

Terra cocked her head, considering. She'd never really seen her travels as dangerous, but then again she'd started traveling long before she should have, and put herself in danger on purpose. Not that danger was always what she was looking for, but it was usually what she found when hunting for trouble. Her mischievous nature tended to have that result. I suppose it is. She certainly seemed to get into more scraps than she should have.

The lake was coming into view. She listened happily as he spoke, knowing that it was true. Everywhere someone went became a part of them, changed them. It made up so much of a person. The desire that was fueling her kept her from being tense about the question, or feeling much sorrow. It was simply fact, like always, only mad sad when someone else could see the tragedy in it, her own mind wired for survival more than emotions. I was the only luperci in my pack. I decided to come and find others like me. Terra licked Oak's chin affectionately. Are there lots of rabbits at the lake?

She simply supposed. A cock of the head bringing him to think that perhaps she had to think about it. Her tone was lighter then he expected and he smiled. She was a brave coyote, her green eyes perhaps looking at the world in a bit of a different light. Brighter. He bumped her shoulder playfully. But you take care of yourself. He spoke in a playful tone, his head and chin raised high in a teasing manner. She was small; lacking the bulk that he thought one would need to withstand the elements. But she had managed, even though she did not look so tough.

He understood then, as she spoke of her history. The change, and the differences between those who could shift and those that could not were like a great divide. He did see those that could not change as different creatures, neither lower nor higher then his own kind but just different. Her story changed, thoughts then thinking of rabbits and the lake rather then a tale of her personal history. The lake could be seen in the distance, not far from where they walked. Tera moved close, licking his chin and sending a buzzing feeling down his spine. Oak paused, but recovered quickly. I’ll race you. He replied, clamoring to overcome the visible change she caused in him.

OOC

The playful bump had Terra nuzzling into him, laughing lightly. Of course! Won't have to worry with someone like you around. Terra's body did have muscles in it, her thin frame simply making it look like she had none. Perhaps if she ate more the muscles would be more defined. Or maybe Terra was just built this way, as it seemed she would remain skinny no matter how much she ate, her coat simply taking on a brighter gloss as her ribs became covered under a light layer.

The pause in his movements from her lick had Terra's tail swishing wildly. She had his attention, and would make the most of it. Oak seemed determined to battle it though, and challenged her to a race instead. Terra paused, head lifted daintily, before she agreed. See you there! The lithe coyote launched herself through the snow, avoiding the deeper patches as she danced across, light as a feather. If she hit a deep spot she'd fall in and not be able to get out without some struggle, but her luck held as the lake reared up before her, wind whistling in her ears.

Let the night take you away

It was not so much her stories that had Oak so interested. There was something else that intrigued him and the male fought to place a name to it. He laughed lightly at her response, and let it roll off his shoulders. Yet there was still the single thing that held him onto the conversation, however small their words were. They were growing even less frequent the more the moved through the Dreaming lands, and Oak was happy to be in her presence.

She agreed to the race, and bounded off into the snow. Oak allowed her to start before he did, watching her as she moved through the drifts. He watched her tail for a long moment before beginning after her. His long legs were able to take the drifts, large paws acting as a sort of snowshoe to keep him aloft the snow. Of course the mild winter left them with a significant amount less then the year before. It was not until he was in full stride that he felt the competitive side of him rise to the surface.

He growled playfully as he chased after her, no longer making it the lake his goal but simply catching the female his task.
