I'm a fish out of water

WC: 330. Short post made here at work :>. Terra can already be there on the ice if she wants to.

Never did the coywolf believe he'd be so busy within the painted tent of Cercatori D'arte, selling his own wares as well as watching groups of wolves from far and wide pass through the flaps. Each time they did, wafts of cold air came sweeping through, filling the man's nostrils and throat whenever Bangle opened his big happy mouth. Dreadlocks swung to and fro as he swung his head, observing customers and event-goers alike. Judging from the light outdoors, it had neared midday at the festival grounds. "I've been workin' enough fer one afternoon," the merchant said aloud to himself. Packing up his wares and storing them neatly back into bags, satchels, and bundles of fur, the multicolored male placed them all to one side and made his way out of his pack's tent for the first time since that morning.

There was never a dull moment from neighboring tents or elsewhere in the days that became the winter festival, to which Bangle was rather happy to see. He had made some good deals of his own, and had sold some useful and (what he thought were) worthless trinkets to oblivious customers and purveyors alike. Flashing a satisfied grin, the coywolf jingled his way through to the frozen lake upon observing a large, shaggy wolf instructing a group of small wolves.

As he made his way along, Bangle was careful to step upon the ice, encouraged by the large white wolf in the distance. "Come now, the ice is quite sturdy." The gypsy's happy attitude remained as he stepped slowly across to the circle of gatherers, all sitting and holding poles with strings. "Fishing?" He inquired curiously, large ears flicking. Bangle wasn't much of a fisherman himself, but he took a seat anyways in front of a small hole that poked through the sheet of ice and into the dark lake below. "Ice fishing, to be precise. I'm Shamus, of Crimson Dreams," he announced with proud and strong vocal tones.

Terra

Word Count → 000 :: Out of Character text.

Her second day of fire. Deciding that burning on the inside wasn't the best thing, after what happened with Sophie, Terra hit the ice to cool off. Stretched flat out Terra tried to cool down, but even though outside she was freezing, inside the burning sensation of desire didn't go away. She still wanted. Frustrated Terra watched others shuffle onto the ice. Someone declared that they would be fishing, perking Terra's ears up with interest. She was getting hungry, and sitting over here by herself was no fun. Standing up Terra shook out the snow from her roll, stolen necklaces jangling.

The purple skirt she'd gotten accentuated her swaying hips as she approached the group of fishers. Her eyes roamed over them before spotting someone dressed a lot like her gypsy friend. Smiling Terra walked over and sat beside him, looking at the hole drilled through the ice. She could see the water underneath, and was partly captivated by the occasional flicker of silver. Terra looked over at the canine she'd decided to sit beside. He was a half breed much like her, though he carried himself more confidently. How exactly are we going to be fishing with these holes?

WC: 445. I'm slowwww :d. Feel free to play Shamus if you'd like. Hope you don't mind the slight pp I did with him near the end.

Bangle took a look around on the ice, as he sat there curiously empty handed. Only a couple other wolves were present, their backs turned towards him, but seemed hunched over their holes and carried poles with strings that disappeared into the dark waters below. It was somewhat quiet, Bangle noticed, though he was not quite sure why. Bat-like ears flicked at the dull-sounding revelry that took place upon land, which seemed quite a ways away from the pack of ice the male found himself on.

He wasn't alone for long, however, as another approached. The merchant noticed from the corner of his eye her outfit, but it was quickly dismissed as he heard his own stomach growling. When the female sat near him, Bangle's nostrils flared. He could scent the familiarity of the Court on her, having been familiar with the place himself once, but also something else that he could not quite put his claw on. Only when she spoke to him did Bangle look up from the hole that was carved out beneath them, grinning towards her. "I'm not sure, but I hope th' fish aren't bigger'n this hole!" Tossing his head upwards, Bangle laughed heartily, but was quickly quieted as his palm was forcefully opened and a pole was placed between his fingers. Opening his eyes, he noticed the shaggy white male had given him the tool he needed for the sport, and watched as Shamus gingerly handed one to the female next to him.

"Shhh. You don't want to scare the fish away, do you? Shamus asked, smiling kindly to both of them. "You'll need those, and some bait to lure the fish with." Then, the snowy man moved away towards a large satchel, and returned with a couple of freshly dug-out worms. The coywolf looked somewhat disgusted as he took his, still wriggling, and the Dreamer male moved towards Terra, taking the other worm and the string that was attached to her pole and hooking the worm onto the sharp end. The d'Arte male took this as a sign, and did the very same. "Good. Now, simply put the ends of your fishing poles into the water, and wait for a nibble. Call for me if you do. Good luck." He winked, and with that he departed towards another group on the ice a few feet away. Bangle watched him walk away, before he turned towards the female next to him, whispering loudly as he extended his free hand. "Name's Bangle, from Cercatori d'Arte. Y' come 'ere often?" The coywolf grinned jokingly at his jest, attempting to break the ice - as it were - with a new acquaintance.

Terra

Terra grinned as her companion looked up, joking about the fish and the size of the hole. She chuckled lightly, watching a pale wolf walk around. Reaching them he passed out some sticks with string. Terra looked at it curiously, wondering how this could work. Thinking back she remembered that strange thin furred dog doing something similar. It had caught fish then. Terra had enjoyed the meal quite happily. Terra looked up into the white male's face, listening as he advised them to be quiet. Her ears twitched disbelievingly. Fish couldn't get scared. They couldn't hear them.

The white wolf returned a short trip later, carrying a pair of wriggling worms. Wondering what they were for Terra had to giggle at the look on the coywolf's face as he held the worm. The other was pierced through her hook. She listened to his instructions, and promptly dropped the line in, tail wagging eagerly. Positive it would work as fast as it had when she'd watched another do it Terra stared into the hole eagerly. Hearing the other speak Terra glanced up. She laughed happily at his joke.

Her tail swished happily as she responded. Of course. Everyday. Name's Terra. She didn't have a clue what she was doing, but she was happy, which was always good. She winked at Bangle happily, glad that the activity was fairly calm. That way she could have a fair portion of his attention to herself, exactly what she wanted.

WC: 244. Short, but I wanted to give you some kind of reply x_x;

Bangle withdrew his hand, smiling and nodding as the female introduced herself. "A pleasure, Terra," He said, watching as she threw her line into the dark waters below. He mimicked her action and did the same for his line, watching his bait disappear into the cold, calm lake. Bangle held his line steadily, the tip of his tail flicking idly behind him as he stared out into the horizon and took a deep breath. At the noise, Shamus turned from his place and shushed him, and the coywolf's large ears flew backwards upon his beaded head. "Yeesh, can't even enjoy th' outdoors when yer fishin'," he whispered in Terra's direction.

The ice fishing event was quiet, and cold, and nearly uneventful for the male as he let the next few moments pass by in silence. Bangle sat quietly, watching his fishing line remain stock still. It seemed tough for the coywolf to sit still and hope for a bite, while having to be quiet all the while per Shamus' instructions. Just as quickly as he had dropped the line in, the d'Arte male was bored, and it showed plainly in his vivid orange-yellow eyes. He swung his head to look at Terra beside him. "So, where y'from, queen of the lake?" His voice was casual, naming her jokingly for her claim at her everyday visit to the lake, attempting to find some entertainment from the wolf beside him since the fish refused to bite.

Terra

Bangle's words brought a round of giggles from Terra, causing a death glare from Shamus. She couldn't help herself, too heated and excited to really keep her attention on some mysterious way of getting food that didn't seem to be working. Patience was not in her repertoire at all. When she was hungry Terra didn't mess around waiting for food. She sought it out, and took it by any means necessary, whether eating from a corpse, stealing food, or even being lucky enough to catch something by herself. Staring at the hole Terra dared the fish to come.

Well, she wasn't truly hungry. Her burning desire was of a higher importance than that to her. She smiled at the nickname, enjoying the easy banter. Cour des Miracles, brave jester. Where everything is possible. At least, they were able of making it look that way. Terra was a very good illusionist, if just starting out. To prove her point she seamlessly removed a bead from his hair, making it appear to have magically appeared in her hand. She tossed it back to him, only to be shushed by the white wolf again. Sighing Terra stared at the lines, only to feel a slight tug. I have something! Excited Terra leaped to her feet, tail wagging wildly. Shamus hurried over Good. Now just gently pull the line up. Gentle was the last thing on Terra's mind as she hurriedly pulled it up. For a moment a fish flopped near the surface before breaking loose from the strain on the string being pulled too sharply. Dejected Terra watched her meal escape.
