Early Morning, 29th

Word Count :: +417

Grey smoke pooled out in front of Regner, twirling through the air as it was expelled from the elderly wolf's muzzle. Regner was currently relaxing in the town square of Kingsbury, perched on a low stone wall, his pipe clamped between his lips and his eyes roaming appreciatively over the snow covered landscape. With snow covering the buildings the village had a picturesque, homely look to it.

In front of him Adelle was expressing her appreciation of her new home in a more rambunctious way, as was typical for the young pup. Squeals and giggles drifted high into the quiet morning air as the puppy raced around the square, snow flying up in a flurry as the strong pup barrelled through it. Adelle had reacted well to the warmth and rest provided by their new residences, the minor illness that had plagued her clearing up nicely. Deciding that Adelle was well enough for an excursion out Regner had caved to the puppies insistent requests and had brought her out to the courtyard, satisfying them both by giving Adelle some freedom but keeping warmth within easy reach if Adelle became too cold.

Aside from Adelle's hyperactivity there was little going on this morning. Regner habitually rose early and Adelle had become accustomed to doing the same over their travels. Most of the Casa's fellow occupants were either still asleep or off doing god knows what; Regner had spent the last week in seclusion caring for Adelle and had little idea of his new pack mates schedules and habits yet, though he would soon. People watching was a habit of Regner's and with little for him to do other than heal it looked like he would have little else to keep him occupied.

For a moment Regner sighed. Travelling the wilds had been difficult but at least it hadn’t been boring.Still, he hadn’t joined Casa di Cavalieri for himself, he had joined it for Adelle. To give the puppy a chance in life beyond the scope of his own years, to give her support when he died.

And he had certainly done that. While not exactly the match of Broderskab, though Regner acknowledged that each pack was unique, he would never find a pack that felt exactly like his old one, the Casa was a good and worthy pack, one he was proud to associate himself and his granddaughter with.

Now if only he could find something to do within it, or at least somebody to talk to.
