The festival had been an overwhelming experience for the young male, although he knew that it would soon calm down. He kept himself busy, trying to ignore the ache in his chest when he thought of his son, still with Nayru and her daughter. Nayru had insisted that he go on without them, that she would be down occasionally to see what was happening. Temeraire was still too young to really understand much about his surroundings and Saul was certain the young black male hadn't noticed his absence just yet. He would need to return home soon though, to make sure everything was okay in Ichika. He, X'yrin and Saluce had arranged that they would each go back at some point during the festival to make sure that everything, and anyone who had stayed behind, was okay being left there. Saul knew that there were many who had come with them and Ichika remained just a little empty for the moment.

He'd experienced a few of the activities others had put on for them, including dancing with the Anatheman Xyza and he'd found a long lost relative by the name of Lilin. He had no idea what she really was to him, but he assumed to count her as a cousin for now. His feelings towards her were mixed, but he liked her well enough. It was perhaps the fact that he didn't know her, and the fact that she'd popped out of nowhere claiming to be a Soulstorm, which meant that she was more closely related to Eclipse than she was to him, meant that he had no idea whether other Stormbringers would begin to show themselves. It gave him the smallest bit of hope that his brothers and sister might find their way back here at some point. For now, he was content to relax and enjoy the festival.

He moved through the encampment, nodding to those he knew and giving a smile to those whom he was not so familiar with. He was sure that at some point he would know every one of them but for now, he would continue on his path. He was seeking a certain individual that he thought he might like to complete an activity with. He was trying hard to build a tighter bond between the two of them, especially for Saluce's sake. It wouldn't take long he knew, but both of them had to put in some effort to make sure that they became friends. He found her mannerisms a little disconcerting at times as he was sure she found his a little strange, but the two of them were working at it. He came to a stop outside the tent she had made with her mate, a soft rap against the taught material.

"X'yrin? Are you there? I wondered if you'd like to come sparring with me?" He asked, knowing the female had a certain affinity with the martial arts that would make it difficult for her to refuse. He waited patiently outside the tent, his tail swaying back and forth as he waited for her to emerge.

ooc: Jan. 27th

With nothing done or sold the day before leaving the soon to be married pair alone for the day, she felt that something needed to be done with her time this day. Saluce had taken care of the shop for the day, allowing the she-wolf to bide her time with her remaining furs not yet on display. Grooming was not as particularly as exciting as bartering with a lively patrons, but it certainly cathartic and gave her a great deal of time to think.

X’yrin sat alone in their shared tent, the space within was kept neat and orderly save for the feathers that were scattered atop of elk hide floor and the pile of assorted furs not yet folded. What had already been groomed were set neatly beside her, waiting patiently for the rest to join them so they could be carried out and sold. The task was tedious more than anything, but soothing just the same. She felt the gentle tug of her ear by the feathered companion perched on her hunched back wanting her attention as opposed to the silence. Annoyed, she rounded her shoulder and growled softly as an indication for him to cease and leave her be while she worked. Unfortunately she was not easily kept from this bout of amusement and continued on in the hopes to rouse something other than a growl from her. Eventually she reverted to words knowing that as often as she spoke the word, that brain of his would understand. [“Stop..”] Defiantly, the proud bird ruffled his feathers but relinquished his hold on her ear with a soft ‘hoot’. If that was how she wanted to be, then he could amuse himself by other means. Hopping off her back and onto her newly made pile of cleaned furs, the avian rested with his within his down and simply stared at her in the hopes of inciting an irritant air.

And oh… it was working too well.

Effectively annoyed as was the aim, she was quite thankful for the distraction just on the other side of the tent. Saul’s voice was both familiar and welcomed, elicited a short howl of greeting before she set aside her cleaning and crawled to the front of the tent to greet him. His suggestion of a spar had her ears standing eagerly on end but also her brows raised in question as to what brought this development about. “Sparring?” was her word of greeting as she poked her head out from the tent and into the bright afternoon. Briefly she shut her eyes from the assaulting light to allow her sensitive orbs to adjust to the brightness gradually. One would have thought the overgrown bangs in front of her eyes would have been enough of a reflector. Carefully her lids peeled back again the absorbed the light and activity that surrounded the encampment. The more nosy of their neighbors poking their heads out as well to see the woman emerge before slipping back into their cloth covered caves.

“I’m sorry Saul,” realizing her mistake in addressing her mate’s son, she bashfully placed a hand on her head and dipped her crown in apology. “I should have said ‘goodday’ to you.”

He heard a soft growl inside the tent before he'd spoken his words and Saul listened quietly to the flutter of feathers and the muffled hoot that meant her bird, who didn't have a name as far as he could tell but followed X'yrin with a loyalty he rarely saw. He'd been intrigued about the companions since he'd met Niro in the foothills behind Anathema and Ichika and he'd been excited about the egg he'd found on his travels. He'd been disappointed when the egg had turned out to be rotten, weeks having gone by before Saul had found the fragile shell on his travels. His desire to have an avian companion was strong and Saul intended to find a trader out here that had some birds for him.

Movement from the inside of the tent caused him to move back as X'yrin's blunt voice came forward and her head popped out of the tent. She recoiled slightly, eyes closing as the light struck her face. Saul suppressed a chuckle and the desire to ask her just how long she'd been inside the tent- he decided he'd rather not know. While Saul wasn't the small child he had been, nor the awkward teenager of only a few months ago and he understood as well as any the pleasures of the body, he still didn't want the visual images flashing through his mind when he considered X'yrin and Saluce. He instead nodded excitedly to her questioned word before she straightened up, opening her eyes up tentatively.

"Its rather bright today, I should have warned you." He offered with an apologetic roll of his shoulders. Still, she didn't seem too bothered by it now and as she moved forward, a hand on her head, she offered an apology of her own. He smiled and shook his head softly. "Its not a problem, X'y. But Goodday to you." He offered by way of proper greeting before he looked at her again. She seemed okay and he thought he saw the signs of excitement in her face. He was pleased that he'd guessed right on the person he wished to take along to the Sparring Event that would be available for most of the festival. "Yeah, I saw that Casa di Cavelieri were holding a sparring event and I wondered if you'd like to accompany me to it?" He asked, a soft smile on his face. He wanted to get to know her better, and there was no easier way than simply spending time with her.

Fully emerging from the tent with the hand once atop her head veiling her eyes, she nodded her intended greeting to the true enough bright afternoon before letting her auburn shrouded gaze fall on the surrogate son of her husband. “Bright indeed…” she mumbled while bringing the previously concealing umber hand to the back of her head to run loosely through her mane. Already in the afternoon and she hadn’t bothered to tend to her appearance as she should have. But then she hadn’t anticipated coming out into the open world until later than evening. However if ever there was a reason to be out amongst the festival crowd it was for an event, especially one that catered to her honed expertise.

While combing through her mane repeatedly with both sets of claws she listened keenly to the young man’s proposal with ears leaning forward in obvious interest. She was familiar that most of the packs had events fitting either to their ideals or abilities, so this news of the Cavelieri’s activity shouldn’t have surprised her as much as it did. But the shock was evident as was the excitement as it crept into her features and noticeably brightened her face. “Jazper’s pack,” she noted aloud, more for herself than for Saul.

She hardly needed a moment to ponder on the thought but her silence came from distraction as she became momentarily busy with taming her rebellious mane into some kind of a manageable braid. Dexterous fingers worked from the top of her head downward, corralling the wild locks to flow as she instructed down to its end then hastily knotted it following with a swift toss around her shoulders. As always a few strands were missed, most of them stemming from the nape of her neck to hang in tendrils, but it was the best she could do with the allotted time she was given. Besides, if sparring was to be her activity of the day, it was doubtful how she wore her hair mattered, as opposed to how she could keep it out of the way from being used against her as Saluce often took great pleasure in.

“Would this be a weaponed activity?” she asked finally, lifting her head with interest whilst subconsciously drawing attention to the snug fitted collar around her neck. “Or simply hand to hand?” Either condition would have suited her liking… but of course every fighter had their preference.

Saul hadn't, in all honesty, noticed how bright it was. For late january, Saul expected the weather to have remained grey and dreary with a constant threat of rain hanging over their heads. The sudden, unexpected, burst of sunshine was a welcomed reprieve from the usually overcast skies and Saul was never one to complain. So while X'yrin shielded her face, Saul allowed the rays to warm his back, a pleasant sensation that made him want to hum with pleasure. Still, his mind turned to combat and he registered the advantage. She mumbled a response to his statement about the brightness and he snorted softly. X'yrin was clearly not one accustomed to small talk.

He watched a moment as he moved to comb through her hair. Saul had always kept his hair relatively short compared to a lot of Luperci and he found it easier to maintain it how it was. There were times that it grew over his eyes and he would have to find someone with a steady enough hands to get a relatively clean cut so that he could see out. She seemed to grow excited for the moment before she allowed a soft comment to roll forth from her mouth. Jazper was an unfamiliar name to him, but he didn't feel the need to ask her about whomever it may be. Her friends were her friends and he had no interest in pushing in to every aspect of her life whenever there was something he didn't know. Casa di Cavelieri was clearly a pack that X'yrin was at least a little familiar with, so perhaps they would get on well with whomever would be instructing them.

He watched as the female began to comb more decisively through her hair, splitting it into three before twisting her fingers until she began to braid it. Saul had always been a little cack handed when it came to these kinds of things and Wretch had lost out on a lot of these girly things. Half of it was due to Saul's lack of knowledge and the other half was her inability to trust anyone else, not even Siku properly. He pushed thoughts of Wretch away, a painful twist in his gut telling him that it was too painful at the moment to think on. While he knew she wasn't dead, there was a certain amount of anxiety in the fact that he hadn't gotten closure on her leaving. He concentrated again as she finished, twisting it into a knot at the end and tossing it over her shoulder. She asked him a question and he considered for a moment.

"Would hand to hand be okay? I don't have any weapons that I'm comfortable using..." He said, hoping it would be favourable to her if they could simply spar. He thought it would be simpler this way. He already had a strong suspicion that she would best him at anything anyway, but there was no harm in practising.

Hand to hand would have sufficed for her just fine, as she had no weapons to use or had practiced with for that matter. It could have been an uneven settling with him using a weapon as far as she was concerned and would have been fine to oblige him. There was not certainly to what an opponent would have in an actual fight so such lacking predictabilities would have been fine for her. “If you’d like,” she offered mildly in compliance with a subtle dip of her head. “I am sure this will be a rewarding experience for the both of us.” And quite the cathartic release for her.

Rarely was there an opportunity for her as of late to practice against someone other than her mate. While the benefits of those often long sessions of practice were well seen, it was obviously a disadvantage. Her body had become to acclimated to his movements, too used to the force he used on her and the amount of every she needed to expel to land a blow. An attempt with someone other than him was sure to awaken her muscles and perhaps better train her restraint in the midst of combat. Or loosen if need be.

Silently she parted from the front of the tent and assumed to lead the pair of them through the bazaar of festival shops to the far end that housed the more dangerous of the pack activities. Events like the arrow shooting range and sparring were kept well away from the common patron so as not to make an accidently target or sparring partner out of the more oblivious wanderers. Several creatures in two-legged form trickled by them as they wandered along the outskirts of the lively gathering to where the Cavelieri made their event noticeable, mainly by the participants already attempting to show their strength to best their other in the combative art.

X’yrin grew eager as their neared, her tail usually still now a sweep banner stirring the air with its elation. Quite the contradiction for one part of a peace-loving pack to anticipate the inevitable violence that came with a spar. Though one might think that the act of sparring in general was a stronger contrast to the lifestyle of the wolves of Ichika. But like all creatures that could breathe and think, they were subjected to their vices no matter the form their took. And this woman, despite position or rank was no different.

X'yrin was a hard female to get a read on, for most anything, but Saul thought he detected approval from her as he suggested hand to hand. It would be easier for both of them- to rely only on the skill of their body and nothing else. She vocalised her acceptance with a soft tone and a subtle dip of her head, although her wording was a little off. It was her decision- she was the higher rank here and he'd come to ask her if she'd like to accompany him. Of course, there was little he could say though as she continued, declaring that it would be good for both of them. He nodded softly, his salt and peppered tail swishing back and forward as she settled her appearance and seemed happy with it. Unlike X'yrin, Saul hadn't really had a partner to train with and he managed to learn snippets of defence and fighting wherever he could.

The two of them set off and Saul was happy with the companionable silence that settled between them. He felt like he was getting to know her better and while he had no idea if she would ever become something akin to a step-mother to him, Saul knew that he and X'yrin would be close friends. He could see the excitement in the spring in her step and he smiled to himself. He'd made the right decision in asking if X'y would like to accompany him to this sparring session, it was clearly something she enjoyed and Saul knew he would ask her again after this session. He was certain there was a lot he could learn from the autumn-coloured female and Saul was always a sucker for knowledge. He took deep breaths on the way to the Casa clearing, noting the archery area where he and Dixie had met not long ago. Smiling softly, he rolled his shoulder, hoping to warm up a little before they arrived.

They stilled as they reached the edge of the sparring rings that had been lain in the ground. There wasn't a big group around them- three other pairs and a lone male who appeared to be leading the activity for the day. Saul wondered if the male leading was the 'Jazper' X'yrin had referred to, but decided not to ask. "Welcome, welcome this morning to the sparring and self defence lesson. My name is Lex and I will be instructing you today. If you and your partner would like to take a ring and warm up, I will be over shortly to instruct you." The male was as tall as X'yrin and Saul felt a little overshadowed by the two of them. He was only 7'1'' and X'yrin already seemed to tower over him. He knew it was, in part, to do with their breeds but it still made him feel a little apprehensive about this whole thing.

"Shall we?" He asked amiably as he motioned for X'yrin to move forward with his outstretched arm. He knew it wasn't going to be a fair fight, but there were things he was still shaky on and sparring was one of his biggest weaknesses. Green eyes were bright with mirth as he followed her, rolling his head from side to side, making sure that none of his muscles were tense and liable to cramp or tear. It would do him no good to sustain an injury now.

They entered the designated ring and it was as if all else faded from notice. Her senses were still aware of the environment, the shifting of steps through the snow , to distant call of the local birds and the soft breaths of the sparring partners already in engaged in their bouts. But while she was aware of them, her mind did not truly see or hear them, only the emerald-eyed boy attracted her full attention.

Learned through countless engagements of the like, her first initiative was to size the boy as best as her eyes could perceive. Without stalking around his stature at a careful berth, she could not fully assess his exterior and while it felt appropriate to do so given the nature of their activity, she resisted in order to keep from looking as imposing as she knew herself to be viewed. Coming to terms with this aspect was no easy feat and often she felt awkward in deeming herself so. But Saluce had been a positive influence in adapting this role, encouraging that the obvious part of her not be concealed but tamed as he was forced to do every day. So she tipped her head mildly in acknowledgement to her partner and obliged him with an obvious forward step.

There was a fraction of an instant in which the forward limb touched the ground before its twin advanced purposefully, pushing the female into a sudden dash toward her partner. The arms once hanging relaxed by her side were up to guard her chest with the right suddenly jabbing out aimed to catch his left shoulder with the tips of her poised claws. Her mind had not fully quieted, still buzzing with reminders of her intentions; to smart and not to wound. But with the thoughts growing louder, she heard the calming voice of her Shepard filter through advising that her mind be clear and all thoughts should cease. But she resisted as best as her mind would allow, knowing just how dangerous a mind driven by instinct could be.

Attack: Jab with the right arm for the left shoulder

Defend: Left arm to guard chest

They entered the ring and Saul began to move his body softly from side to side. Rolling his weight from right to left foot, he began to warm his muscles up again, pleased that he'd had a good run this morning. He moved to the southern edge of the arena, aware that the sun was at his back. He didn't want to blind X'yrin, but there was also a small part of him clutching at ways he could win this. He knew he was the weaker opponent and he knew that the chances were slim. He supposed that wishful thinking were never going to help him, but there was a certain point to which he knew X'yrin was better at this than he. Green eyes were intent on the autumn female as they faced against each other. His breathing slowed and he knew that one of them would have to make the first move.

It appeared to be her, for just a few seconds later, her leg slid forward, the other following quickly behind the first before she made a dash at him. The first few seconds were spent in panic before Saul moved into a defensive position, not quite crouched but certainly allowed his legs to bend as his arms to come up to cover most of his torso and face. Of course, there was no way he could predict anyones actions and he didn't like to try. Green eyes watched warily as X'yrin's hand darted out, swinging towards his left arm. He allowed the blow, ducking away slightly so that the impact was not enough to severely bruise but for it to still count. Green eyes narrowed slightly as he took a step backwards, away from her bubble of space.

He allowed his right hand to curl into a fist, his muscles flexing for a second before he swung forward, aiming for the side of her face. At the same time, he allowed his left leg to swing out, sliding across the ground to try and impact on her right leg and trip her to the ground. It probably wasn't the most gentalmanly thing for him to do, but this was a spar afterall and one of them had to win. His mind assessed the moves he'd made, slowing them down so that he could see whether each one would hit. In the few milliseconds before X'yrin reacted, Saul was sure they would hit. What a fool he was.

Sparring round 1 of 5
attacks- A punch to the face with right hand. A sliding kick with his left leg to trip her.
injuries- slight bruising to the upper left arm
defense- Left arm still on guard, bent legs to absorb impact, ears and tail tucked away.

Admittedly his choice of retaliation was unexpected but not to the point of completely distracting her in awe. None the less, she was impressed by his ease in his counter even if it was made in hesitation. Had this been a lesson, undoubtedly she would have sought to correct this err and encourage that his mind be still and assert its certainty, but this was not such a lesson. It was a show to the other of their present skill set. And hers was unique.

Provoked into attacking, she was placed in a position she was trained for; defense. Be not the attacker but the defender in order to subdue the advancing party. And there her capabilities would truly shine. From plain sight to the peripheral view, she caught the curve of his arm as she swung then snapped her muzzle to the right with the intent of latching her fangs onto his wrist with a little pressure as possible. The shift of snow beneath them caused an ear to twitch attentively before her she felt the pressure of his sweep to her left leg. Had her teeth found purchase on his wrist, the loss of balance would have compelled her to clamp down harder and bring the boy down with her in the tumble. But if there was naught but air in her jaws, the leg would crumble beneath her, forcing her down to a knee but not vulnerable.

Upon impact she would jab again aiming to take out his left knee and bring him down to her level.

He perhaps should not have over thought this meeting before hand, because even now his mind was in overdrive, thinking, feeling, assessing. He didn't know how to switch off, to allow his body to take control, to react on instinct alone. It was perhaps one of his worst downfalls, the fact that his brain refused to switch off. Absently, he wondered if it would still be the same in his lupus form, whether or not he would over think and over feel on every little twitch of his opponents body. He also wondered briefly if Gideon had found a way to overcome this- his brother had taken the Envoy class and had been a warrior before his life had come crumbling down and he'd left. With that thought pricking his heart, he attempted to shove his multi-tasking mind away from those topics and onto the one at hand.

As his fist neared the female's face, Saul watched as she turned her muzzle into the strike, her jaws opening and aiming for his wrist. He knew, deep down, that they were not here to hurt each other, but his instinct told him to get his hand out of the way. He was just a few milliseconds to slow however as X'yrin's fangs closed around his wrist, pinching the skin and causing him to wince. He'd moved away enough so that her molars, and the more powerful part of her jaw, had been unsuccessful, but the fact remained that her incisors still held a grip around his wrist. He allowed a soft snarl to pull his lips up at the pain of his skin being pinched together, though he was grateful that the pressure of her jaws would never be enough to actually harm him.

He wished he had moved away quick enough however, for just milliseconds after her fangs found purchase, his leg crashed into hers. The pressure of her jaws increased and Saul felt the give-way of his skin as her teeth accidentally pierced him. Her leg buckled and she hit the floor with her knee, dragging his right half down with him. To relieve the pressure, he allowed his right knee to bend and rest on the ground, while his left leg tucked beneath him in a typical crouch. With only a few seconds to spare, he allowed his left arm to swing round, aiming a punch to the right side of X'yrins body, hoping to get her to release his wrist.

Sparring round 2 of 5
attacks- punch to the right side of x'y's body, hoping to wind
injuries- two puncture wounds on his right wrist, soft tissue bruising from x'y's teeth. slight bruising to the upper left arm
defense-ears and tail tucked away, left leg crouched to give the left half of his body some leverage.

This was not at all like sparring with her mate, mainly due to the lack of intimacy in their movements as well as constantly dodging an onslaught in an upright position. Given Saul's inexperience, she was forced to be unorthodox, combating in ways that were not traditional in an effort to keep from causing him more harm than necessary. But in her attempts, she could not keep all injuries out of the matter. When her teeth found his wrist, she visible winced for the both of them, and as the pressure increased and the tinge of blood graced her tongue she felt her stomach churn.

Sympathy in sparring was lost on a cold-hearted warrior, but in the present state she was a soft and warm as they came housed within a formidable body. Her instinct would have been to apologize had the wrist still not been in her maw, but even that wasn't awarded to a fighter. Had Saluce been her contender, he would have scolded her for showing an ounce of sympathy, her Shepard as well if he could see her. He would have deemed it an insult for the warrior to feel sorry for their combatant and the Nomad harbored no intent to bring insult onto either of them.

He dropped down along with her, retaining leverage on his left should he need to move. From her left she spied his swing and immediately detached her teeth from his arm as she brought both hands to the ground and pushed herself to the right and back to evade. The fractions of time felt like slow seconds as though she swiftly rolled back from her knees to the balls of her feet, still crouched low in defense as she intended to draw herself further out of his reach and regain her footing.

The young male could see the wince in her eyes as her teeth pierced his wrist and his blood escaped onto her tongue. While it smarted a little, it certainly was no crippling blow and would heal quickly. It was also not intended to happen and had been the result of his swing towards her leg with his own. These factors meant that Saul placed little blame on X'yrin herself and most with himself. Of course, he knew that there was no way of predicting others moves, or the consequence of his own move on himself, and therefore he allowed the minor mishap to evade his mind. Concentrating on the actual 'battle' was something that Saul knew he was going to have to work on, to look closely at his opponent and calculate weaknesses and points of attack that he might used.

They both hit the floor and Saul was quick to strike out at her left side. It had the desired effect however as she opened her jaws and released his wrist, bringing both of her arms up to defend herself. With their legs likewise in such an awkward position, Saul didn't really know what to do next. The female took it in her own hands, balancing her weight on her legs and she almost shuffled backwards and into an upright position. Saul had expected her to attack him again, but she appeared to stand to regain her balance and footing. He had no desire to stay on the floor and used his crouched left leg to push himself up.

An impasse presented itself at that second as Saul straightened up. He allowed his legs to bend slightly once more, his tail and ears tucked away as both arms came up to defend the front of his torso and his face. Green eyes were narrowed once more as he stepped forward and then back, uncertainty evident in his posture and steps. He knew there was no way he could allow her lack of counter attack to go wasted so he lunged forward instead, twisting to the side and thereby facing her left side and aiming to catch her left shoulder in his jaws.

ooc:

The intermission between their blows allowed her the rear moment to catch her breath and let the warrior’s mind come forth from its dormancy. Had this mean a scuffle against an unknown assailant, her blows wouldn’t have been this soft, nor would her movements have been this careful and measured. No, she would have strove to end this confrontation a swiftly as possible as her abilities would allow. Saluce had been on the receiving end many a time, and had his eyes been watching her now, they would have darkened with disappointment. Her Shepard too would have looked upon her with shame.

The reason for her withholding was plainly seen, not as if the boy before her was weak, but because he was a comrade and son to her mate. Their relationship was new at best, the waters still needed testing, and she reluctant to plunge with only a hint of the shallows. What if she harmed him? Would he or Saluce ever forgive her for that? And yet these hesitation were nearly overthrown by the boisterous tones of her ego bellowing for her to stop this careful dancing and take the stance of the lead rather than let herself be conducted into this slow ballad. The rhythm she danced to was not this slow and careful, it was wild and vicious, the embodiment of pure violence encased within a control body, executed only when necessary. And yet she wouldn’t even try to tap into that reserve.

From her idle stance the female resumed her forward position, smoothly extending a leg outward in front of her as she leaned against her back to distribute her weight. Her opponent’s movements were swift then, but not unseen. The sudden movement alone was enough to entice her instincts to emerge from dormancy and force her body to reaction of its own volition. He neared her left side and instantly the whole of her right side swung around him with her right arm swinging up and around aiming to grab for the top of his head and force him down asserting both her strength and unspoken will for him to submit. Her back leg once used to support her stance, then became the forward limb as she completed the turn to now stand behind him.

would you mind if we finished up in the next couple of posts? <3

He was perhaps a little overconfident as he neared her left side, aiming for her shoulder. It wasn't exactly a very well thought out move and Saul could see that it wasn't going to work. Even as he neared her, his brain comprehended that she'd settled into a more ready stance, her back leg taking the brunt of her weight while the front leg stayed for balanced and agility. She was a good warrior, that much was almost too obvious as he watched her right arm swing around, aiming for his head. His jaws snapped closed on thin air, jarring his jaw a little as his body began to pitch forward. He'd put all of his momentum into this bite and with nothing there to catch him, there was no way he could stop his body from toppling forward. Of course, he would be toppling towards her and the natural positioning of her hands meant there was no way he could dodge out of the way of her hand. The impact was painful but not enough to bruise.

It was all in her now, whether to wrap her arm more securely around his head and keep him in headlock or to throw him to the floor. There was no way he was going to take that one quietly. With his body still facing her left side, his eyesight now zeroed in on her left thigh, close enough for him to consider reaching with his teeth. Still unsure of what her motion would be with his head, Saul took advantage of the slab of meat in front of him, jaws aiming to close around a section of her thigh close to her knee. It would be so easy for him to bite her from this position. Waiting for the impact in his mind as though in slow motion, Saul hoped that she didn't try to dodge this one- she could easily end up kneeing him in the face or have them both land in a heap on the floor.

ooc: Sure thing Smile

Their dance was swift. Yes in her eyes this exchange of blows, of moving forms was another variation of the multitude of dances one’s body could flow with and react to. And such a dance as this her was primed for, and her performance had every intention of resolving with a satisfying finish even if it was simply practice.

She felt the connection of his head beneath her palm and forced him down in a fluid motion exerting both force and will for his submission. But as he had been vulnerable in his actions, so had she been in her attack. She felt the breath of his maw before the pain was received. Her mind was centered only on the execution of her attack. But the pain inevitably reached her, going against her own philosophy of ignoring the physical pain for the sake of succession. But this was not a lesson and her skill was well proven without her dawning the face of a warrior as well. And so she released his head with a forward thrust by her palm, intending to free the boy as well as call an end to their bout.

thank you! I left it open for you if you wanted one more post, but otherwise we can end here <3

Just as he'd been able to see their moves as if in slow motion in his head, and with perfect clarity recall where limbs needed to be placed or removed to avoid blows, there was a certain element of it that was faster than normal. So as he fell towards X'yrin's thigh, her palm pressed firmly to the top of his head, he was able to clearly feel the wind whipping against his face at the same time as his jaws closed firmly over the females thighs. He hadn't meant to draw blood, it was never his intention. But the momentum of his own previous attack as well as the force from her palmed hand on his head meant that he was unable to keep his jaw as soft as he'd wanted. As a result, he pierced the skin and he held the sharp intake of breath as the resulting pain came. An apology was already on his lips as the pressure on his head stopped and her palm came once again to push at his face.

He released immediately, the taste of her blood already repulsive on his tongue. He dropped onto his right knee for the moment as he hit the ground, his tongue lapping against the roof of his mouth as he tried to eradicate the taste from his lips. Guilt and apology wracked his body as he stood up, green eyes turned in sheer concern from the female. He straightened up, both of his hands palm upwards to indicate that both of them were done and that he hadn't meant to harm her. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you!" He exclaimed, refraining from rushing forward. He had no idea if she would take offence to the accident and he didn't want to invade her space if she just needed to calm down.

"Would you, uh, like to come back to my tent and I can clean that up?"

He asked, concern and fear laced in his voice. He didn't want to force her into anything, but he felt the need to straighten things out and perhaps cleaning her wound might make up for it. He gestured with his hands before he set off, unsure whether X'y would follow him or not.
