The heavy wooden door opened with a tortured creak of old metal and wood as Regner made his way into the building, forcing the unyielding hinges with a shove of his shoulder. Adelle followed close behind him, peering around curiously but keeping close to her grandfather.

Driven by boredom the elderly male had taken to thoroughly exploring ever inch of the fort that he called home, poking his nose around the decaying buildings. Considering the level if disrepair that many of the dwellings had fallen into it was likely that much of this exploration was a waste of time, the buildings he was acquainting himself with soon to be demolished, but it kept him active and busy for the moment.

The first thing that struck Regner about this building was the smell, a strong musty smell that he vaguely recognised as that of old, rotting paper mixed with dust. Evidently this building has been a human book storage, there was a word for such buildings but it escaped Regner, and it had seen little intrusion since its previous owners had perished.

Regner strode forwards, gazing around curiously. While the warrior had never learnt to read the books were still interesting to him just for what they represented; an immense store of knowledge practically unrivalled by anything any Luperci had assembled without scavenging from human knowledge. As Regner advanced into the room a quiet sneeze sounded from behind him, Adelle's smaller stature causing her to fall prey to the dust littering the floor.

The sight of Regner and his granddaughter had the Sole curiously following them. He had seen the old man and the little girl wandering in and out of the houses, which made up the small village, in the Fort earlier in the day but had not asked what they were doing. Now they seemed to be making their way over to the old library. Jazper had been drawn there out of curiosity in the first couple weeks after Casa di Cavalieri’s birth. A good amount of the books had water damage but most pages were still readable and some books seemed to have survived in good condition over the years. He had a particular fondness for the books of humans, having been born into a non-Luperci family Jazper had a large curiosity for human things and after Deuce taught him to read he often found himself reading in the Crimson Dreams library.

Duties and laziness had left the Library sitting in dust and broken messes over the past couple of months. The spring would be full of renovations for the Fort, he had seen Anann working into the night often on plans for buildings so he assumed the Library would get cleaned up. The Courthouse had taken a long time to tidy up but now they had numbers and more horses for muscle power so work should go faster. Regardless Jazper’s curiosity had taken the lead, with him slowly making his way to the Library himself.

The outside stood strong but all the buildings had damage on the inside and the dust build up was difficult to deal with, especially with sensitive noses. Pushing his was past the doorframe and inside he looked around. It remained in the same condition he had expected but he made a mental note to tell Anann that they would need to clean up the place in the warmer weather. A sneeze revieled where the pair had gotten off to and the Knight quietly made his way towards the source of the sound, yellow eyes catching the large old man curiously looking at the books on the shelves. You read? He asked, announcing his presence though he was sure the male would have picked up his scent by now. I’m glad we have a library in the Fort. My old home had a fairly large library in the main house and I use to spend quite a lot of time there. Pushing a stack of books, which littered the ground, to the side he sighed, Unfortunately this place will take a bit of work to get it into good condition.
