OOC Feb 21

Dalgina had been properly chastised after her last little trip where she'd gotten lost, but she was older, and growing. Her paws, which had finally been gotten under control, were tripped on again. Her legs were big and lanky, and Dalgina was starting to feel rather large, although it was really only a couple inches that she'd gained. Feeling more confidant with her new height, and sure that she was now old enough to go wandering on her own, Dalgina set off into the wilderness. Snuffling around Dalgina followed the smell of a deer, wandering past the borders without realizing

It was a while longer before Dalgina came across another border. She had traveled faster than before, but not by much, the journey still taking a few hours. Tired and hungry Dalgina crossed the border, believing that she'd circled around back to her own pack. Not realizing her mistake in her exhausted state of mind Dalgina tumbled around until she found a nice comfy spot between some bushes. She scraped some snow away and settled in, drifting off to sleep.

It had been close to a month since her run-in with the coyote. In that time Holly had stayed close to the den like she was supposed to, only venturing as far as the river on either side. But she was growing restless and the scolding she had recieved was far from her mind when she woke up to a clear, blue sky and a warmth that visibly melted the snow around her. Spring was on the way and you could feel it in the warm air that blew past the mouth of the den. She took in a deep breath and a wide smile appeared on her lips. It was adventure time.

She started off at a run and quickly bounded down to the river. It was as cold as it had been all winter and she quickly lapped a few gulps before hopping the river at its skinnest point. She continued on her way, her head snapping from side to side as she took in the part of the territory she had not ventured into since she had been taken into New Dawn. It was nice to be free, to be by herself after spending so much time in the den or near the den, surrounded by the rest of the pack. Not that she didn't love them, because she did. They were her family and they protected and fed her. Sometimes one just needed to get away.

She wasn't looking at the ground, searching the nearby trees for birds or squirells or anything other creature that might be hanging out up there. All of a sudden her face was in the snow that still lingered on the ground. She lifted her head and snorted the flakes from her nose. She got her paws under her and scrambled off of whatever she had tripped over. Once she was standing she turned around and gave the offending object a look.

It was a puppy. She looked to be around the same age as Holly. There hadn't been a new puppy that had joined her pack, had there? That would be, like, the best thing ever. Someone she could play with who wasn't a million years older than her! A bright smile lit up her face as she waited for the girl to wake up. When she had Holly would be in her face, her tail wagging wildly behind her as she asked. "Who are you?" Without enough pause for Dalgina to answer she continued on. "My name's Holly. Deuce takes care of me now cause my mama is gone. Do you live here? Is your mama gone too?" She took in a big breath before looking at the other girl expectantly.

Being tripped over was not fun. It jolted Dalgina wide awake. Whining she looked around, trying to figure out where she was. It didn't look anywhere familiar. That was odd. She knew this was her territory. She'd crossed the borders. She must have just found a new place that she hadn't explored yet. Satisfied with this explanation Dalgina looked over, to find a very excited brown puppy looking at her. Dalgina's face crinkled up with confusion. She didn't know there were puppies other than her orej around. She smelled funny too.

Dalgina listened as the small puppy began talking really excitedly. She must have been really excited to find another puppy. Maybe she didn't have any orej like she did. That was sad. Her tail thumped the ground happily. I'm Dalgina. I was born here. Who's Deuce? My Mahn around. She takes care of everybody. Want to play? Dalgina stretched over, sniffing Holly happily. She pushed at her playfully, her stance more dominant than the pup before her.

Holly took a step back as Dalgina answered her. Her own face crinkled in confusion as the black puppy said that she was born here. Well Holly had certainly never seen her before and anyone who's puppy was it? "You live here?" Perhaps she was the puppy of the alpha, he was the same black as she was. She shrugged it off, just happy to have someone her age here that she could go exploring with.

She sniffed Dalgina in return but then hopped to the side and dipped herself down into a play bow when she was given a playful push. What a silly question. Of course she wanted to play! She picked up on Dalgina's more dominant stance and adjusted her own posture accordingly. Even if this girl was younger than she, Holly was submissive by her very nature. She would never be the leader of a pack but even so she would be happy just to have a place within it.

She rushed back up to the other girl and gently bumped her side with her nose. She danced away again and yelled out. "You're it!" Before taking off in the opposite direction at a run, spraying snow behind her.

Word Count :: 379 OOC :: Please feel free to post before me and junk, Zalen is just going to be watching over them from a ways off.

His black paws had taken him to the borders once more, this time in his more natural lupus form. He was sad that the snow still lingered here, he so desperately wished for spring. Spring meant renewed life, carefree feelings, but also more work as prey became stronger and more violent in the season of mating. Still, he was looking forward to it so desperately, for soon it would be time for his own courtship with his young mate, and he was very much excited for the prospect of pups.

Speaking of pups, the scent of New Dawn’s youngest member, Holly, sprang to his dark nostrils. He had so frightened the little one when she had first arrived and he had been in his bipedal form. Her being a non-luperci, there was a chance she had never seen such a creature before he, and it made sense that she would be so scared. But no, in his lupus form, he was sure she would be curious, and so he trotted in the direction of the scent.

He was expecting to see Deuce as well, but instead the visage of two pups met his eyes; Holly and a black puppy that he did not know. He took pause, craning his neck to sniff at them. Smells of Ichika, and of Jace, Noah’s sister who had come to see his punishment, wafted to him. Had this little one wandered all the way here from Ichika? Zalen raised his head, scanning for Deuce, or Jace, but sensed neither. How strange.

The black male sat, as the two began to play; it seemed the black pup’s appearance was harmless, and it seemed her mother was not around. Zalen could not get angry about the trespassing of a youngster, they knew no better, but the idea that she had come all this way on her own was mind boggling. She either was a clever escape artist, or her mother was not as watchful as she should have been. Zalen then decided he should watch the two pups, seeing as Deuce was not around, and laid his black form down upon the crest of a hill, looking down upon them. He would not let them out of his sight, but they may play for now.

Dalgina was still feeling very tired from her long trip, but it wasn't every day she met a new friend. Holly submitted to Dalgina just as easily as Pandora did, bringing a smile to the small puppy's face. The two mirrored for a moment in their bows, before Holly broke it with a playful nudge. Olnayni flew into Dalgina's face as Holly scuttled away. Yapping with excitement Dalgina broke after her, feet spinning on the ground.

Still rather clumsy Dalgina tripped on her feet a few times as she tried to keep up with the puppy in front of her. The grounds were unknown to her, though she was sure they were somewhere in the pack lands, just not sure where that was. She reached forward, tiny teeth snapping at Holly's tail. Feeling the brush of fur in her mouth Dalgina put on a burst of speed. The sleepy puppy shot beside her new friend and reached over. With a playful bump she hit her. You're it! Dalgina stopped running, letting Holly continue forward for a little before turning, heading back towards where the stream was.

The wind whistled past her ears as she ran toward the woods; all of the energy she had stored up in her month of being confined to the den was being released all at once. She was still getting a feel for her ever growing body but her paws were relatively steady beneath her when she wanted them to be. She still tripped over her large paws and had that floppy, puppy run. When she had made up her mind about getting somewhere however, it would be a rarity to see her stumbling.

When she felt the gentle bump against her side she turned her head around to look at Dalgina. Her tail was used to swat the other pup’s side before she had stopped. Holly barely slowed her pace as she tried to turn back in the opposite direction. Her excitement was getting the better of her and making her movements clumsy. She was it! She was playing! She had to catch Dalgina before she got away!

It was hardly easy to make an abrupt turn while running full kilter though and as Holly tried to quickly pivot on the spot her paws gave way in the slick snow. Her shoulder hit the ground with a muted thud and a sharp yip of pain and surprise pierced the air. She lay there in the snow for what was only a few seconds but what might have felt like hours to anyone looking on. Slowly she rolled to her stomach, a stunned look on her face, and saw Dalgina still running toward the river.
Without as much as a second thought she jumped to her paws and raced after the black puppy. The shock of her fall was already passing as she tried to catch up to her newly made friend. It wasn’t long before she caught up with the other puppy. Dalgina’s tiredness was making her a little slower than the auburn girl. Even the few weeks’ age difference was noticeable in Holly’s greater speed and coordination.

Once she was within range of Dalgina she launched herself at her, jumping up unto her back in an attempt to push her over. If she did fall Holly would fall with her, tangling them together amid the snow. “Got ‘cha!” She yelled out in a pant as she tried to catch her breath.

The sounds of sliding and the yip of pain didn't slow down Dalgina at all, used to the various mishaps that happened in such games. Thinking she was gonna win Dalgina let out a yap of joy. Just a few feet from the stream, and a large bundle of fur tackled her. Dalgina squealed with delight as they both went tumbling, head over heels. The pups were a bundle of color flashing together. Dalgina tried to move, to halt them, but it only ended in getting even more entangled in Holly. At last they slid to a stop, Dalgina pinned beneath Holly.

Immediately Dalgina began squirming. No you don't! Getting out from underneath Holly was hard though. She was still very, very sleepy from all the travel she'd done. She twisted around, teeth nipping into Holly's side before she came out. With that accomplished Dalgina spun around, happy as could be. She turned, pouncing on Holly. She was the conqueror of this pile. I got you! Her tail wagged furiously as she licked the face of her friend.

Holly lay there on top of Dalgina as she squirmed to get free, neither helping nor hindering her escape. When the other puppy’s teeth came around to nip at her side she met them playfully with her own but then pushed herself away from the black girl. She sat there still trying to catch her breath after her sprint, tackle and then the struggle that had just ensued.

She was easily pushed to the ground when Dalgina jumped at her and was pinned underneath the other puppy as her face got showered in licks. “Nooooooo.” She giggled as she half-heartedly tried to push the other off of her. She managed get to her paws in Dalgina’s face and push the offending tongue away from her. She was still pinned though and she let out an excited bark before gently putting her teeth around Dalgina’s ear. She gave it a tug and then released it from her grasp.

She had a wide smile across her face as she pulled away. It felt so good to have someone to play with, a way to release her energy. She needed that interaction that she used to get from her brothers. It was tough being the only pup in the whole pack. Adults just didn’t get her the way another puppy could. So she would enjoy it while she could and hopefully Dalgina really was a member of New Dawn like she had said.

Holly let out a happy complaint, squirming to escape her licks. Dalgina managed to remain on top of Holly, dodging the paws that tried to push at her. She wasn't so lucky when she got paws in the face though. Pushed away Dalgina playfully growled, shaking her head. Her ear was grabbed and tugged, and Dalgina stepped away, barking with excitement. Her body quivered, energized by the flood of adrenaline that flowed through her.

There was one thing the adrenaline couldn't stop though. While it washed away Dalgina's sleepiness, she was still hungry. Her stomach growled, and Dalgina sat down. She looked down at herself, staring in surprise. The hunger washed into her, and Dalgina whined. Hungry. Brightly she looked around, trying to figure out where some food was. Spotting a black wolf on the horizon she bounded over, tail wagging. It wasn't her papa though, but someone new. Surprised Dalgina stopped. She stared at the new adult for a few seconds before deciding that it was alright. Hungry. She looked up at him, head twisted as she begged.

Holly frowned at the sudden halt in their play. She rolled to her feet before leaning down in a play bow, trying to get the other puppy to play again. It was no use though and Dalgina wandered away from her, in search of food to fix her complaining stomach. With a soft sigh of resignation Holly stood upright and followed the black pup toward Zalen. She didn't see the alpha right away, not like Dalgina had, and they were only a few feet from him when she finally picked him out among the shadows of the forest floor. She faltered in her step, remembering his smell and what he had looked like when the first met. She had seen him around, still in the monturous form, and learned that he was one of the leaders of New Dawn.

But now he looked normal and she crinkled her forehead in confusion. Was this really the same wolf she had met before? She took a few hesitant steps toward him but kept her distance as Dalgina went right up and stated her problem. Holly was also starting to feel the rumbling in her belly that signified hunger but she could wait until they returned to the den. She would rather ask Deuce for something to eat than this male who had terrified her. She stood apart from the pair and waited for the balck male to respond to her friend.

These two are so cute! Big Grin

The sable female had had a long morning already, she had once again been overseeing the cleaning out of the den, somehow small things seemed to accumulate there, general mud and carcasses of small animals that seemed to have been taken back to the den as late night snacks. Soon enough though the den had been cleaned to her satisfaction and so she felt that she would be able to do her rounds of the borders, something she did every day, she was slowly building a line of stones around the borders of these lands, only pebbles really, a very tiny wall, she had started when she had noticed weak scents in areas; she felt out of line scenting them herself and so she left the stones as markers for Zalen and Titania, so that they might mark their territory when they came by the place. The ebony pelted Beta wolf was in her lupus form today, her paws treading lightly on the ground as she walked, barely disturbing the thin layer of snow that covered the grounds, it seemed to have been getting warmer, but still the cold did not bother the ebony lady, she was built for cold weather, in fact she preferred the cool to the heat of summer; in the hottest months she was prone to overheating with the combination of the bright sun and her coal coloured pelt. She walked slowly, almost lazily, the two peacock feathers that had been a gift from Rain in her pelt once again, mimicking the feather placement that her Alphas kept, they fluttered in the breeze as she walked and the sable female smiled, today seemed almost blissful. The sable female smiled to herself as she walked, taking a very leisurely pace, almost strolling around the lands, she could not help but feel overwhelming pride whenever she realised that this place belonged to her, this was her pack, these were her lands and she was so happy that she had embarked on this adventure with her beloved mate and a male that she considered to be as close to her as a son, it was indeed a wonderful feeling.

It was as she was thinking this that she caught sight of the very male that she had just been thinking so fondly of. Her smile widened further as she watched a small black pup bound towards him, followed by the familiar form of Holly, the young female that Deuce had taken under her wing, adopted almost, she liked the young girl although their interactions had been very limited; the dark Beta had been less than sociable in the past few weeks, not wanting to be too close to any of her pack mates, at least not the ones that she did not know well, unfortunately Holly had fallen into that category. She quickened her pace then, tail wagging as she trotted along, soon enough she was close enough to them to greet them. The sable female dipped herself down into a low position, lowering her ears and showing her submission towards Zalen, still smiling broadly.
"Good day my lord." She spoke, her tone warm, before raising herself back up, into a dominant position, but much less so than Zalen's own, she moved and licked him behind the ear as a mother might do to show affection to a pup, before moving to sit beside him. Then she looked down at the little black pup, noting that she was stating that she was hungry.
"Hello there little one, who are you?" She asked, before giving a warm smile to Holly.

Zalen watched the two play with amused interest. It had been a long time since he had witnessed bounding pups, the last time being many, many months ago when he had met the mother named Krystalle and her rambunctious daughter. A smile graced his lips; it had been mid-summer then, and warm; he missed that time.

The black pup seemed to be the most dominant one, despite her being a bit smaller than Holly. This intrigued Zalen, but did not mother him, for the responsibilities of rank were still far from falling on their fuzzy shoulders. He lifted his head from his paws to watch them more carefully, as suddenly the black pup stopped to turn to face him mid play. He cocked his head as she came bounding over, but suddenly Zalen was aware that someone was behind him. His fur bristled and he turned quickly but saw that it was only Soran. He relaxed, and leant into her lick, Soran please, don’t be silly. Call me Zalen. And then the small black bouncy thing was in front of him, as Holly warily held back.

Like a bird she chirped that she was hungry and Zalen couldn’t help but laugh aloud at her forwardness. Well tell me your name then and I’ll feed you. He said, echoing what his Beta had just asked. His belly was full and he was sure he could conjure up some tasty, half-digested deer meat for her. But then he wondered if such a thing was even familiar to her, seeing as she was being raised in a pack where cooked food was the norm.

A crease came to his forehead then as he looked at Soran for some reassurance, and then turned to Holly who was still a bit away, Come here pup, I won’t bite. He wagged his tail in a friendly manner.

OOC text here

Another black wolf materialized besides the first, causing Dalgina's eyes to widen with surprise. She'd never seen anyone other than her Papa have black fur before. Meeting two of them with such fur surprised her deeply. It started the pup wondering about fur colors. She wondered what made them, and if canines could swap fur colors. She wondered if there were any patterns to them, and if she could find the source. Dalgina knew she was black like Papa and Pandora was patterned like Mahn, but Keldava and Honrin didn't match that, so Dalgina didn't make the connection between talnala and fur color.

Her tail wagged happily at the greeting, Dalgina's head craning up to meet the old one's eyes. She was older than anyone Dalgina had ever met before. Older even than her Papa! Pleased with the introduction her head swiveled back to the big male, saying that he would feed her in exchange for a name. That was easy enough. Food would be right out. I'm Dalgina! Dalgina Wolfe-uh-Dehalii. She looked down, embarrassed that she'd managed to mess up on her name.
