Feels Like I'm Dying

Cold. So cold. Dalgina huddled into the warm nest of blankets her
talnala
slept in, unable to feel the difference. Her entire body ached all over. She didn't want to move, aggravating the small bruising feeling running through her body. She shivered, pressing closer to the ground. Everything felt so strange. The fabric was too thin, she could feel the hard floor beneath. The light didn't seem to touch her, thin and wavery. Dalgina whimpered softly, wanting her
Mahn
to be there, to take away the pain. She wasn't though. She had left to do something, leaving Dalgina alone for what felt like an eternity. She was frightened, and there was nothing Dalgina could do to make the feeling go away. The sight of the
tochina
through the window wasn't comforting like it should have been, memories of it as her friend dancing through. Instead it seemed impossibly cold, uncaring. Small cries escaped the puppy. She should have never tried to touch the
tochina
. Maybe then she wouldn't hurt so much.

Keldava was a short distance away. Everyone had been very worried about Dalgina, and knowing how easily the cold could pass from one pup to another, they had all been pushed away. Keldava had hovered on the edge though, worried about her baby
tingla
.
Mahnaya
had left the room though, going to get something for Dalgina. The pup seized her chance, and snuck into the room. Dalgina laid in a heap of blankets, shivering. Worried Keldava stuck her nose into the black pup's side, whimpering softly. 'Gina be okay? Her worried eyes studied Dalgina. There had to be something she could do for her
tingla
. Thinking about it Keldava's tail began to wag happily. Dalgina was cold. If Keldava got lots and lots of blankets, Dalgina wouldn't be cold anymore!

Dalgina felt something nudge her. Frightened she turned to look, only to find Keldava's soft brown eyes staring at her worriedly. Happily she licked her
tingla
's cheek. I be okay. Sighing she nestled back down, still shivering. She watched Keldava turn, bouncing away. Her
tingla
had left her! Alone again Dalgina began to cry, whimpering softly. It was so cold, and everything hurt so much. Dalgina sneezed, sending her small body shaking. Crying she squirmed in the blankets, wishing Keldava would come back.

Keldava bounced along the halls, determined to accomplish her mission. She wouldn't let anything hurt Dalgina like this! Scampering along the halls she reached the living room. Curtains fell over the windows, with a thick fur pelt draped on one of the furniture. Growling Keldava seized the curtains in her mouth. Pulling Keldava tugged, trying to get the fabric free. It took a while, but the curtains tore, leaving half of the fabric dragging behind the determined pup. Proud of her prize Keldava trotted back to the nursery, squeezing the fabric around Dalgina's soft body. She licked at her
tingla
's face gently before running back down. The pelt was a lot harder. It was heavy, and Keldava had to stop a lot, panting with the effort. She succeeded in entering it into the room though, and happily added it to the pile on top of Dalgina.

The black puppy was quite surprised when something nudged her the first time. Feeling soft fabric tuck into her body she looked around, expecting to see
Mahn
. Instead she saw the back end of Keldava, racing back into the halls. It was a sight to see, and Dalgina was very happy to see that she wasn't abandoned like she thought. She snuggled into the extra fabric, though it didn't help much, still feeling much too cold for the sick puppy. An eternity passed before Keldava returned, this time dragging a huge pelt. She couldn't believe her
tingla
had managed to get that all the way up here! The heavy pelt was draped on top of Dalgina, and the pup squirmed, pushing her head out. It was getting warmer now, and while Dalgina's body still ached, she wasn't as cold. Her tail managed to wag briefly before she sneezed in Keldava's face.

Ew! Keldava backed up, licking at her face. That was gross! Dalgina's eyes had brightened up though, laughing at her. Tail wagging she returned to her mission. Keldava didn't have to go as far this time. She grabbed the blanket from the bed
Mahnaya
and
Ghu
slept, pulling it down. It took a long time, with a lot of blanket stretching behind. She pulled it into the nursery though, and proceeded to bury Dalgina. Dalgina didn't help with the efforts much, wriggling around and not staying in one place. Keldava worked really hard though, and at last pinned Dalgina down with one paw before wrapping the rest of the blanket around her.

Dalgina's tail wagged softly. She whined as her
tingla
's paw pressed into her face, holding her down while she was covered in the big blanket. All the chills were finally gone, though her body was still sore. Sneezing again she shook free. Thank you. Keldava barked happily, tail wagging with extra speed. You better now? Dalgina wagged in return. Ya! Happily she pushed around in the blankets, motoring around. She didn't have a lot of energy, but Keldava happily joined in, jumping around the blanket and tunneling through it. It wasn't long before Dalgina began to yawn. Keldava whined, moving over to lick at the black puppy's cheek. Happily Dalgina nuzzled her back, drifting off. Keldava settled in next to her sickly

's body, and stood guard, slowly drifting off after her.
