OOC Night of Feb 11

Dalgina felt a little better after Keldava had spent the day cheering her up and burying her sick tingla in blankets. She was still sick though, and all the other puppies had run out to play today, leaving Dalgina behind. Someone was coming over to watch her and make sure that nothing went wrong, it being far too dangerous to leave Dalgina by herself in this state, but Papa had been called out to look at something that needed fixing, leaving Dalgina in the house by herself for a time.

Sniffling the pup dug herself into the torn fabric, trying to get warm. Everything ached. She wished she was in the room with the fire, but the distance seemed even further than it usually did. Small movements drained her of her energy, rendering the usually chatty cheerful puppy silent and sad. Dalgina rubbed her nose on the blanket in front of her, trying to dry her nose. It was too wet, and sticky. Dalgina didn't like it at all.

As the packs Ikusei, it was important for her to know about the status and health of all the puppies in Ichika. Kiara had just recently learned that one of Jace's puppies had fallen ill. The luperci didn't treat disease like those who weren't infected. They acted like it was nothing, although with all of their advances perhaps it was just that, nothing. Kiara remembered that when she was sick, Shiloh had given her a foul tasting liquid to drink and had rubbed her wounds with a strange paste. Both of those had made Kiara feel a lot better afterwords, despite how weird they were. However, because she was a normal wolf, Kiara could not make medicine for herself or the ailing Dalgina. Thus, to her, diseases even as minor as a cold could be deadly.

For the past few days, the snow wolf had been worried that she was also sick. Her appetite had become greatly reduced and she could barely keep any food down. The sudden changes in her health greatly worried Kiara, but at that moment her mind was focused on the ailing Dalgina. Kiara's mind worried and fussed as she approached the house. Night had fallen at that point in time and the moon shined high above. The door had been left slightly ajar, just enough that the un-infected wolf could open it and let herself in. Before Kiara stepped into the warm house she shook herself free of snow. The white flakes had been falling lightly all day and had managed to collect on Kiara's coat when she made the journey from her den to Jace's house.

Using her back paw, Kiara gently closed the door and began to search for Dalgina. The Ikusei found Dalgina nestled into a several torn blankets in her sleeping room. The poor black puppy looked miserable and Kiara's heart ached as she saw her young charge shiver and try to dry her nose on the blankets. Kiara moved slowly up to Dalgina and pressed her nose lightly onto Dalgina's head. "Hello Dalgina, how are you feeling?" Kiara carefully worked her way around the blankets and lowered her larger body onto the torn fabric. Her sapphire eyes started at Dalgina, the orbs filled with worry.

Someone entered, but it was hard to focus on. Her eyes tried to see who it was. A large white figure came into view, finally settling into Kiara. Happy to see her friend Dalgina's tail weakly thumped behind her. A soft nose pressed against her head, something Dalgina didn't complain about depite it hurting a little. Her body felt bruised all over, like she'd wrestled with Honrin and lost too many times. The bruises didn't feel like they were fading though, remaining in that achy stage.

Dalgina straightened up, clambering over to the arctic wolf's side as Kiara settled down around the soft nest of torn fabric. Hurt. You make better? Her trusting eyes looked up to Kiara, fully believing that everything wrong could be fixed with a simple touch. She was too young to realize it could be otherwise, her mind making adults the perfect creatures, one that could fix every problem and take away any hurt. She rubbed against Kiara happily.

Seeing Dalgina so weak and sick was heart wrenching. Her small body moved slowly and her eyes took a while to focus. Kiara wondered if Dalgina even recognized her at first. After a little bit, recognition flooded the black puppies eyes and she greeted the snow wolf with a weak wag of her tail. It was surprising to see Dalgina with so little energy. Kiara was used to seeing the black puppy run around and talk a mile a minute. To see such a calm Dalgina was in many ways worrying. Kiara was right, illness is bad and the luperci needed to figure that out.

Almost immediately after the alabaster female had laid down on the blankets, Dalgina had moved in to seek comfort in the Ikusei's embrace. With young Dalgina by her side Kiara wrapped her large body around the small puppy. Like most puppies, Dalgina was firm in her belief that adults could fix everything and asked Kiara to end her pain. Oh, how she wished that she could cure Dalgina with a wave of her tail. "You will be better soon, I promise." The Ikusei's words were soft and kind, although it made her feel awful that she couldn't say yes to Dalgina's question. Kiara gently began to lick Dalgina, as she worked she checked Dalgina for any signs of distress or pain. If the kisses were too much for Dalgina's sick body to handle, Kiara would stop. She didn't want to make things worse. "Is there anything you want?"

Her friend's body wrapped around Dalgina, immediately making her shivering stop. It was nice and warm in the little circle inside Kiara's grasp. Her tail thumped a couple times as she pressed herself in before settling down. Her nose was still sticky, and she couldn't smell anything. That made Dalgina sad. She couldn't even assure herself about anything because she couldn't smell them, proving if it was real or not. Kiara would fix that though. She would make Dalgina able to smell and everything, and they'd go out and play in the olnayni together.

That wasn't what happened though. Kiara simply promised that she'd be better soon. That wasn't very good. Not as good as immediately, and much worse than right now. Soon could last a very long time. Soft kisses covered the pup's body, though she flinched slightly whenever Kiara touched a particularly sensitive spot, like around her ears and her chest. Hearing Kiara ask if there was anything Dalgina wanted the pup thumped her tail again. Hitting the wood hurt, so she stopped. Olnayni. And food! Even if it would hurt to touch the cold, Dalgina liked the olnayni. Dalgina was a little hungry too, though she wouldn't be able to eat nearly as much as she normally could.

As Dalgina's small body pressed into Kiara's side her shivering stopped. Seeing the young puppy so content was heartening, although her poor nose dripped with mucus. Getting sick was just no fun, and for puppies that might as well be the end of the world. Kiara would have given anything to trade places with Dalgina, to make her pain go away. Although, Kiara was afraid that she might be joining Dalgina in her misery soon. Every morning was a struggle to eat, and her body was listless and tired. Not to mention her emotions could rage and flare up with almost no warning, making Kiara feel like anyone but herself. Whatever was happening to Kiara, it scared her.

As Kiara licked the small puppy she noticed some spots were more sensitive then others. After that, the snow wolf did her best to stay away from them. Together they sat for several minutes. The Ikusei watched Dalgina, her small black body a striking contrast against's Kiara's own white fur. What did Dalgina think of her? Was Kiara her friend? Was she another mother? A sibling? Or was she a just stranger who sometimes took care of Dalgina? Kiara desperately hoped it wasn't the last one.

To the Ikusei's delight, Dalgina asked for food and...snow? Dalgina's strange words were always confusing, especially olnayni. Not only was that the word for snow, it was Dalgina's nickname for Kiara. Although, judging by the circumstances, Kiara guessed Dalgina wanted snow. "Alright, I'll be right back." Carefully she stood and worked her way around the sick puppy. When she was free, Kiara practically ran out of the house in search of food. Once outside the huntress stuffed her nose into the snow as she searched for anything that might appeal to the sick Dalgina.

Close to the house was the strong scent of mice and after a little inspection the arctic wolf was able to dig out a couple of mice from their hiding spot. It was a small nest and only held a few adults, however Kiara figured it would be enough for Dalgina. With three mice dangling from her jaws Kiara stuffed her head into the snow and sat there for a moment. Carefully she lifted her head out, trying to make sure that a good amount would still cling to her face. There was also a decent amount on her back from the light storm. With both requests fulfilled Kiara returned to Dalgina with a face full of snow and three dead mice for her to eat.

It was so nice cuddling with her big friend. Even feeling sick this made her feel better. For a couple minutes they rested together, Dalgina breathing slowly as she settled down in the warmth, tired and sore. Kiara responded to her request happily, and Dalgina whined as the white wolf pulled away, tail wagging softly. It couldn't take very long. As soon as the adult was gone, Dalgina started shivering again, the heat gained quickly lost. She immediately started feeling unhappy again. Dalgina couldn't wait for Olnayni to return.

Time stretched before the black pup, leaving her wondering if she had been abandoned. Whimpering she dug into her blankets, trying to drive out the shaky cold feeling running through her body. The white wolf finally returned, covered in olnayni and carrying some mice in her mouth. Happily Dalgina barked once, ducking her head down as it hurt her throat. Carefully she padded over and sat at Kiara's feet, eagerly awaiting the treats.

The Ikusei had done her best to be quick when retrieving the presents, yet she obviously wasn't quick enough. Poor Dalgina's body was shaking as the small puppy plodded towards the larger wolf. Her delicate frame flinching as a small bark brought about pain. To make it easier on Dalgina, Kiara moved further into the room. This way Dalgina wouldn't have to walk as far and she could get back to bed faster. Kiara knew that being sick was no fun, and judging by Dalgina's appearance she must have been miserable. Yet, despite her pains, the black puppy was still as happy as ever and her bright smile was mimicked by the white wolf.

Dalgina was a typical puppy, and acted like it most of the time. What really surprised the Ikusei was her patience. Kiara knew that she could never have sat patiently like Dalgina was. Perhaps it was the dog in Dalgina. Either way, it was a nice change of pace. Kiara happily opened her maw and let the rats drop to the floor. Next she laid down to give Dalgina a chance to play with the snow that was stuck to her coat. Some of the white flakes had started to melt, but for the most part they sat and glistened on Kiara's white fur. Like all arctic wolves, Kiara had a thick double coat that prevented heat loss in the winter time. This same coat was the reason why snow didn't melt on her fur.

The kills were dropped to the ground, and Dalgina gingerly picked one up in her mouth. She would have liked to pounce on them and play, but her body wasn't up for such a thing. Instead she gently gnawed on it, getting some meat and swallowing it. Her body flared with hunger, and it wasn't long before most of the rat was devoured, the bony parts left untouched in her illness. Her stomach churned, and Dalgina was unable to even look at the other kills. She'd have to eat more later.

Kiara had brought her a special treat though. Padding over Dalgina stuck her nose into the wolf's coat, licking at the olnayni on it. It was so cool, having it sitting there like her own private playground. Carefully Dalgina climbed onto Kiara's back, pressing her paws through the clinging flakes. It didn't make very good paw prints, but she happily curled up, nudging it with her nose and occasionally licking it up and eating it. Sighing contentment Dalgina slid back off, and resumed nudging and pushing at the snow before moving over to another rat. She chewed on it happily, her eyes beginning to droop drowsily as she snuggled next to Kiara.

Dalgina is so cute!

Word Count → 234

Kiara waited patiently until Dalgina finished her meal. The black puppy's usual playfulness had all but disappeared as she gingerly worked her way through the meat and around the bone. The older wolf would have been able to gobble the mouse whole, yet Dalgina needed to take her time and really work at the meat. However, despite all of Dalgina's picking, she managed to finish off most of the mouse in no time at all. The Ikusei was a little disheartened to see that the puppy wouldn't even look at the other two kills, however the fact that she ate anything was a good sign.

The white wolf sat still while Dalgina sniffed her and climbed on top of her. The small puppy would periodically stop to lick some of the partially melted snow off of Kiara's belt, making Kiara feel even better. After several minutes of playing in the snow on Kiara's back, the puppy's weight shifted and Kiara felt her slide off. The Ikusei watched happily as Dalgina started to chew on a second mouse before she curled up next Kiara and started to nod off. The older wolf looked at Dalgina, her sapphire eyes taking in the puppy's small, sick form. Once again, Kiara began to sing. It was the same, soft melody she had used in her den and hopefully it would help Dalgina to fall into an easy sleep.

Dalgina loved Kiara. The wolf's presence was soft and reassuring, soothing the sick pup. Despite how icky she felt everything seemed that it would be just fine. She was at peace, her eyes slowly closing. A soft tune rang through the air as Kiara sang. A familiar lullaby Dalgina only stirred slightly, sinking into a deep sleep. Her head tucked into Kiara, and Dalgina fell into a deep healing sleep. Hopefully when she woke up she would feel better again. Dreams of flying through the olnayni with Kiara at her side filled her.
