OOC: xD silly Ciara. This post is in participation of the February thread call!

Ciara was on the hunt again. She had been trying to prove herself a worthwhile huntress for the past few days, even having commissioned Augustus for lessons. The Epsilon knew what he was doing, and in time Ciara grew more comfortable. She also knew, now, that she wouldn't be able to take on big game on her own. So she stuck to rodents: mice, lemming, rabits, only now they were all scurrying beneath the snow where she couldn't reach.

As she began a trek through the snow, flexing her paws to keep her weight evenly distributed and her body from falling through the icy crust, she thought back on the months she'd been alone. Often times, the mottled yearling had watched other animals hunt. Coyotes didn't differ so much from wolves, even though they didn't have near the grace of her species. Foxes, though, seemed to be easily the most clever. She remembered watching as the fox would put his ear to the ground, cocking his head from side to side as he listened to his prey. Then, in one great leap of faith, the fox would crash through the snow head first. She never understood how, but the smaller predator always seemed to come out of the snow with the prize in his mouth.

She decided that she was going to give it a try. Determined, Ciara tilted her head down and listened through the snow for the sounds of scratching beneath. It took her a half hour, and a few frustrated paces in all directions, before she finally detected what sounded like a family of mice beneath the snow. She crouched down in a position much like a play bow, tail wagging with triumph and ears erect, listening to what would surely be her dinner. Closing her eyes, counting backwards from ten, Ciara readied herself and then...SPRUNG! She crashed through the snow in all her glory, catching a squealing mouse in her jaws and crunching happily.

She didn't bother come out of the snow to eat, but sat in her ridiculous position and consumed her snack. It was only after licking the remains from her black lips that she put her paws in front of her to push out of the hole she'd created. Unfortunately, her paws went straight through the snow, and Ciara fell deeper into the hole she'd created. She yelped, wriggled, thrashed, and then slumped. Her skin turned a bright crimson as she blushed beneath her fur, ears pinning back and tail tucking between her legs in embarrassment. She may have caught the mouse, but now she was stuck in the snow with her rear end sticking straight up in the air, back paws kicking at the slippery crust.

Silently, she prayed that a pack mate would come and find her. She sure as hell wasn't going to cry for help. That'd make the situation even more humiliating than it already was.

Pretty, but not what I wanted. But hopefully you enjoy. ^^;

One of the good thing about being the Omega was always on the run, or was that a plus of being banished from pack living. He was not to leave the pack lands but he was not allowed to eat, or even sleep with the pack. If someone was willing to leave him food, he was to offer it to the higher ranked members first. The male knew the rules, and knew if he was ever to be in the pack again that he would do well to take the rules into mind and follow it though as well as he could.

The silver male licking his maw, he had gone fishing, and in a human like manner, he knew it was taboo, but the male knew he had to eat. Fish was easy for him to catch; he knew how to string a worm on the hook, or bits of meat the members had foolishly left behind. He had made a make shift fishing pool using a bit of bamboo that he had gotten from the trading he had done, and the male had strung the fishing line though the bamboo stick. He was able to wrap the line around the bottom of the stick and feel the tugging of the line and would know if he had caught a fish. He knew that he might get some slack over hunting in optime, but he knew he had to eat.

Walking back to the makeshift sleeping area the male saw the molted female sitting there with her head in the hole. The male shifted down as he dropped his pole, looking at the lady he shook his head, as he went over to where she was, sniffing at the ground. ”Hold still.” He placed his nose on her front shoulder.

The male sniffed around the hole trying to find a way to get her out without hurting her. Back up a few step the male kneeling down, as he pushed the snow around trying to get the hole wide enough to get her head out. ”Your as bad a…a..as Titania, but s..she didn’t g..g..get her head stuck.” The male gave a nervous laugh, he wasn’t sure if he should let her be since she knew the tongue lashing that could come from talking to him. Though the male knew he couldn’t leave a pack member alone stuck in a hole with her head down, waiting on someone to come and poke fun(more then what he did), or even worst attack her. The male stood up trying ever so softly to push around the snow and dirt. Finally thinking he had it wide enough, he pushed his head down under her neck as he slowly brought her head up. ”Be careful.” The omega spoke with care and concern thinking of the white half bind male that was there at the last meeting

It seemed like she had been there for hours. The yearling had kicked at the snow with her hind legs, whimpering pitifully at the position she was in. She wished that she was one of those thin-furred animals upon which snow melted. Her pelt was so thick that no heat escaped whatsoever, and while normally a wolf would appreciate such insulation, Ciara wished that her body heat would melt the snow around her so she could at least fall down enough to turn around and dig her way out. The way she was stuck now was just humiliating.

In her misery, Ciara didn’t sense the Omega’s arrival until after he spoke. She jumped, tensing for the moments it took her to figure out who he was. While they met when she had brought him the rabbit, she hadn’t heard him speak very much, and was not accustomed to his voice. The yearling recognized his smell, but she could also tell that there was something else mixed with it. She’d never eaten fish, so she couldn’t pinpoint the scent, but her mouth watered at it all the same.

“Hi Noah,” she said when she recognized him, trying to sound casual as though she was completely fine with this situation. A sheepish laugh left her muzzle when he compared her to their Alphess. She hadn’t met the mate to Zalen, but she’d heard stories that the young leader was beautiful, intelligent, and fit to rule. “What ah…what happened with the Alphess?” she asked, trying to make conversation through the sounds of the Omega’s sniffing. She felt him prod her with his nose, and then heard the crunch of him pressing around the snow.

Finally, Noah emerged through the snow and managed to get his head beneath hers, effectively lifting the embarrassed yearling from the hole she’d put herself in. Ciara pinned her ears back, feeling foolish and all at once thankful. She moved forward, licking all over the Omega’s face to display just how thankful she was, tail wagging and body wiggling excitedly. She was out of the hole! Secretly, she was glad that it was Noah who found her, knowing that she might have faced much more ridicule from some of her other pack-brothers. “Thank you, Noah, I’m so stupid sometimes…”

Now free, the subordinate took the time to become inquisitive of the scent Noah was carrying. She began to sniff him, pushing through the scent she’d left on his fur and pressing her nose to his snout. She then dropped her head, sniffing along the snow until she came to the pole he’d dropped. It carried the same peculiar smell she’d found on Noah. “What were you doing?” she asked, having no idea of the Omega’s talents.

The silver male was as ginger as he could be; he did not want to hurt the pack mate, who just like the Alpha had thought she was a fox. Though the female stood there and studied the lands and the hole before she moved. The silver male wanted the pack to flourish, however at what coast was it that he was going to have to allow the pack to live? The white half blind male had already proven that almost half of the members where cold, mean and distance. There had been three members that had shown him a tender touch, and this yearling was along with that small group. ”Let’s just s…s…say you young o..o..ones have a thing t..to learn a..a..about mice holes.” He playfully added to the conversation that the two pack members where having.

The male rolled his ears back very upset that she had called her-self stupid, If anything she was young, and being young sometime you don’t think your actions all the way though. The male snarled and gave her a soft nip. ”Don’t e..ever say that a..a…about your-self!” The silver male scolded her. ”You are m..many of things, but s..stupid isn’t one of them! U..u..understand?” The male knew she was not stupid, for the simple reason that she was not the one that was in the lowest rank of them all. He was the Omega, he was stupid. The silver male was the stupid one, she was young and acted more with her stomach when she did with her head, even with how he was older then these yearling that was running around, he thought with his heart and not with his head. The silver male had his ear pined back looking at her, he was not please that she called her-self stupid, even if it was just in a laughing matter. He saw more in her, that shimmer in her eyes was not the dullness of being stupid. ”Don’t e..ever say that. EVER!” He snapped at her.

Ciara was very surprised from the sound that came from the silvery male. She’d thought of him as one of the quieter ones, and never ever imagined she’d see him angry. When he snarled and scolded her, delivering a nip to her ear, the yearling let out an apologetic whimper. He was the first of all the pack to outright scold her for something, and having gone so long without anyone to watch over her, the patchy female found it a strange experience.

She lowered her head slightly when he snarled again, pinning her ears back and whimpering once more before nudging her nose to the male’s neck. The bump of her tawny snout on the Omega’s silvery pelt was gentle, soothing almost, as she tried to make up for insulting herself and upsetting him. “I’m sorry Noah,” she said softly, feeling a little ashamed of herself. “I understand…I won’t say anything like that again, I promise.”

Keeping her head down and her ears back, Ciara moved back from her apologetic nudges to the elder male. She scuffed at the ground guiltily with her paw, looking very much the adolescent rather than the aspiring adult she wanted to be. She would soon be coming of age, a mere two months away from being able to rear pups, and she was thankful for Noah’s lesson. She would never find a mate, and would never be seen as an adult if she did things as foolish as belittling herself.

”Can…can you show me what you were doing with that stick?” she asked, hoping to turn the elder male’s disappointed eyes from her and direct his attention instead to the fishing pole. With another little whine, she moved forward, nudging the tip of her nose to the Omega’s cheek in an attempt to make him smile again. She hated seeing him unhappy.

He felt to nudge when she came to him, the male looked over to her, lifting his one ear then looking away. She could have snapped at him for scolding her; however she came to him like the Omega begging to be forgiven. Looking at the male gave her a soft nudge; he understood that she was still young; however she still had a lot to learn. The male was willing to help shape her into the powerful adult that she was growing to be, if the yearling was willing to work with him.
Giving a nod, if she promised she would never say anything like that again, then he would not snap at her and he would be more willing to have her around him.(wow if that don’t sound cocky) the silver male stepped closer to her licking the top of her maw softly. ”Your y..y..young, your still learning. Don’t q…question your-self.” The male said in a much more softer voice to the young pack member.

The male looked back to the fishing stick that he had rigged up, the male gave a nod as he move over towards it, as he moved towards the stick he would take the time to start the shifting process. ”Do you k..know how to stand u..upon two feet? The male asked her honestly. He could show her fishing in two legged, or four, but two was much more relaxing. (at least it was for the out casted pack member.)”I think i..it’s called fishing.” The male said as the bone softly took the time to shift and grow longer.

Ciara was very much relieved when she felt the Omega’s tongue swiping over her muzzle. She allowed her ears to swivel to the front then, knowing that he’d forgiven her for upsetting him and insulting herself. Nodding to his words about her being young, Ciara brought her eyes up to meet Noah’s and offered him a shy smile. She knew that she still had plenty to learn, and she knew that this wolf, her elder, would be able to help her become who she wanted to be. The mottled subordinate dreamed of advancing in the ranks and someday becoming a hunter, or even a maintainer of public relations and good will between New Dawn and the surrounding packs. To do that, to move up from the rank she was in, Ciara knew that she would have to show confidence.

When Noah turned towards the stick that had caught her attention awhile ago, Ciara’s ears perked and she lifted her head more, cocking it to the side. Suddenly, Noah began the shift to his biped form, and Ciara swivelled an ear back and forth, tail twitching with envy as she watched him. “I can,” she answered when he asked if she could shift, “but I’m nowhere near as good at it.” She let out a sigh then, and moved towards him, beginning her change.

The girl wasn’t used to shifting yet, and as the process began she let out a whimper of pain. She was always uneasy with the process, simply because she didn’t practice it enough. Her whole body shook as she forced her limbs to elongate and her spine to straighten. Her forelegs turned into humanoid arms, slender and feminine with small hands, and her legs turned longer and a little shapelier. Her hips flared out from a synched, feminine waist. When the shift was complete, Ciara curled one arm around her flat belly and used the other to brush fingers through her lengthened hair. It was obvious that she was self-conscious in this form.

”So, fishing? I’ve never heard of it before,”she admitted, ears swivelling once more. If there was any aspect to body language which gave the young wolf away, it was the position of her ears. Right now she was a little nervous, but excited to learn a new skill.

Sorry for the wait.
WC:500+

The male had only been shifting from two legs down to four for under a year now. His father had never taken the time to show him, and his mother…well she was not around. She was banned from the pack lands that his father live in, for raping. Now here he was, living with her and she was a powerful rank, a rank way over his head. After all he was just the lowly Omega.

Watching the lady shift the male smile and gave a cheerful woof, hoping to help her though it. ”Take’s t...t...time.” Rednall had worked with him for what seemed like for days upon days, till he was able to make one single smooth shift. The male had meet many of times when he was ready to give up, and say he could live without shifting. She had been a wonderful teacher…maybe one day he would be able to pass that lesson along to maybe his children one day(if he would ever have any).

The male walked over to the pole that he had placed down, and then gave a swoop of his good arm as he made a movement to have her follow him. ”First s..s..stop, my lean to.” It was a little area that the male had made in order to keep him-self warm and somewhat comfortable, while he was on his banishment from the pack, but banned from leaving the pack lands. The male was well aware that these poles border lined contraband in the pack, they where human like, and the leaders where not to keen on that idea. However, he didn’t have much of a choice beside stalking and knowing when to make the move.

The male stopped by the lean to that he had made, it was a few stick, and mostly fur and freshly dug up dirt to make a nest. It kept him warm enough though the chill of the night, without another warm body to lay near.

Going over to a tree that was hollowed out by some god like force the male pulled out another pole as he smiled back at her, and the turned around walking over to her as he handed her one of the poles. ”Carry, please.” The male spoke softly and kindly to her, as he turned away and walked towards the nearest water hole, that he knew had fish.

Once getting to the hole, the male took his foot and pushed his talon’s deep into the earth’s crust and pulled back bringing up a few earth worms. Picking up one the male walked over to the she wolf’s wooden rod and wrapped the worm up into a small sting ball, that left out just enough of the slimy pink bait, with a nod please with his quick and nimble fingers. Picking up another worm, he repeated the action will there stood the two wolves, each holding a baited fishing pole. ”Toss in, wait.” He tried to explain in very few words as needed.”O…o…once there is a t..t..tug pull toward t..t..the ground. “ The male showed her with his pole the swinging of the pole he was talking about. ”Any q..questions?”

After her self-consciousness had worn off from her shifting, Ciara’s head tipped to the side in curiosity. She’d never heard of a ‘lean to’ as the male called it, and she followed him a little unsteadily on two legs, her tail sticking straight out to help a little with her balance. She was a beautiful Optime female, albeit a bit clumsy, but she wouldn’t have believed that if anyone told her. When they came to the lean-to finally, Ciara realized that it was basically a little den-like thing that the Omega had made for himself. She admired the ingenuity of it, thinking to herself that she would never have been that creative.

Her thoughts were interrupted when the male handed her a stick similar to the one he’d picked up a few moments before. Awkwardly, she took the stick in her humanoid hands and followed him over to the water’s edge. Her ears twitched to pick up the sound of his voice as he gave her instructions, and she nodded here and there, paying close attention. Ciara was a good pupil, diligent and a good listener. She also happened to be a fast learner as well.

“No questions,” she said, as she drew her arm back. Her eyes had watched the worm a little uneasily for a few moments before this action, and now she found herself very much wanting the worm to disappear. It’s wriggling made her uneasy, and so she cast the line out into the water just as Noah had instructed. She turned to him, grinning when it went into the center of the water hole, as though she’d done a good job.

It was an impatient few minutes as she waited for there to be a tug on her line. She took the time to gaze over Noah, noticing his various scars. She wondered a little on his life before New Dawn, and realized she knew very little about him. What struggles had he gone through before coming to this pack? What packs had he been a part of before? How did he lose his ear? All of these were on the tip of her tongue but she felt it impolite to ask him. Then, suddenly, there was a tug on her line that interrupted all of those thoughts.

Quickly, Ciara scampered to do as Noah had told her. She brought the pole towards the ground and pulled, fighting against the pressure on her line and trying to win. It felt as though she was playing tug of war, and soon after that thought passed her mind, she won! A decently sized fish came wriggling out of the water, attached to the hook on the end of her line and flopping around noisily. The calico yearling drew the fish a little further away, and looked up at Noah in excitement. While she didn’t know what to do now that she’d actually caught a fish, she was still very pleased that she’d caught one, and hoped he’d be too.
