Talk! Think! Walk!

Word Count:563

Cold air swept through her black nose, bringing in the scent of the forest and her prey. Red tipped ears moved slightly as she listened, the soft sounds of the rabbit before her. A small crunch of snow, a snap of a twig, the clattering of teeth as it chewed. Another crunch, another smell. Two rabbits, just perfect. Hotaru flexed her shoulder muscles quietly as she sat in the shadow of a bush. She wasn't far away, but she sat almost perfectly still in her lupus for and waited. Just a little closer, they needed to get just a little closer. High up in the trees, the scent of Fawkes drifted down, his own attention most likely focused on the rabbits as well. Another crunch, followed by a second. There.

Hotaru shot forward, her well defined muscles moving in perfect unison and exerting great power. A high pitched squeal shot out as the pounding of feet ensued. Hotaru shot after the sounds, following her nose and ears as the rabbits moved quickly through the forest. Fawkes could be heard winging behind. Hotaru was the first to reach the rabbits, her nose guiding her jaws as the clamped around soft fur. For the rabbit, it was over in an instant. Fawkes was next. A loud thump hit the ground and the mad rush of feet scraping the ground quickly followed. The other rabbit wasn't as lucky. Fawkes had caught the rabbit between his talons, but the impact hadn't killed it. The poor thing struggled for a full minute before it finally went limp.

She had done it, she had finally done it. The blind wolf had managed to catch prey on her own, no assistance from Light and minimal assistance from Fawkes. She had traveled through these woods so much that she knew them like the back of her hand. And in fact, they smelled like her, just as she smelled like them. Her tail thumped against the ground as she sat up, panting. Hotaru wasn't really tired, but those few moments had been incredibly intense and the adrenaline was still working its way through her system. Hotaru's heart raced and the blood pounded through her ears so hard that it was audible to her.

Once she had calmed down a little Hotaru turned her focus to the rabbit. With incredible grace and practiced footsteps, the grey wolf retraced her path back to her bag and walking stick. There she placed the rabbit on the snow to allow the slow, but painless process of shifting to begin. Several minutes later, the bipedal Hotaru stood and began to craft a fire. Hotaru had dug a large hole in the snow before she had set out on her hunt. It was there that she placed several dried pieces of wood and bark shavings. Using her flint, Hotaru started the fire. As the grey wolf waited for coals to form she worked on the rabbit. Carefully she removed the fur and prepared the rabbit to roast by the fire. .

It was a smaller rabbit, so it cooked rather quickly. Licking her chops, Hotaru picked up the roasted meat and began to dig in. Fawkes, who had followed Hotaru back, had already finished his meal and was lazily picking at the scraps. Although the meal was simple, to Hotaru it felt like a meal fit for kings.

He knew that by having this bow, this one single bow that it would bring him closer to her, the blind she wolf. The male vowed when he and Amy took over the world, that she and she alone with be saved…well maybe. He felt a tiny bit sorry for her since she was blind, however the fact that like him-self she spoke with a riddle to the world. He knew the act the best, no one was far as skilled in riddles as he was, but she came close. The monster moved, following her sent, he knew what he was going to do…he would shoot that stupid bird down and warn her not to leave her toys where someone might take them.

The coyote wolf male slimed as he followed the scent of the roasting rabbit leg, the bow was dragging behind him. His finger wrapped around the bow tip as he did not try to even move stealthy. Moving into a clearing, the male saw her sitting there with her stupid bird. The male raised the bow and aimed it at the hawk, as he pretend to draw a bow from the quiver and shooting the bow. He knew the bird could see him, and he knew that the stupid guide would not like his actions; yes he basically did that to mess with him.

”Things may come and go, but what I have for you is here to stay.” The male smirked and riddled, as he tossed the bow towards her.

Talk! Think! Walk!

OOC: Sorry for the wait Word Count: 504

Fawkes loved Hotaru, that much was obvious. She had raised him, fed him, taught him how to speak, and helped him learn to fly. The first time he had flown, it was to the grey female. His first word was her name. To Fawkes; she was his mother, teacher, and best friend. However, ever since the evil wolf had attacked Hotaru, the tables had been turned. Fawkes was the one who had flow off seeking help. He was the one who helped her learn to walk without her vision. He was the one who had hunted for her every day so that she might have enough energy to get through the day And truth-be-told, it was exhausting to care for a fully grown wolf, especially when it came to feeding said wolf. With the promise of a successful hunt, Fawkes felt like a great burden had been released from his feathered shoulders.

As the red tailed hawk preened himself, the rustling of bushes quickly caught Fawkes's attention. His large eyes shot up and his wings spread at the sight of the coywolf from the festival. Fawkes let out an alarmed shriek and he quickly winged into the air in order to avoid what he thought would be an arrow flying his way. The red bird quickly flew towards Hotaru and alighted on her shoulder, screeching all the while.

That day, the wind was not in her favor. Hotaru didn't even notice the coywolf's approach. However, Fawkes's distressed shrieking was hard to miss and her head immediately shot up when he shouted in alarm. Her red-tipped ears swiveled as her nose worked in overtime in order for her to identify the source of the trouble. The blind wolf was not happy to discover that it was the snake like male who had interrupted her meal. The coywolf's statement was, as usual, full of nonsense. The clattering of wood against the ground caught her attention, and Hotaru signaled for Fakwes to retrieve it.

At first, Hotaru was confused by the bow's presence. Why would such a vile canine giver her a present that she obviously couldn't use. It took Hotaru a minute to realize that the bow was of her own making. Not only that, it was they very same bow she had recently traded in order to receive a decent amount of leather. Anger rushed through Hotaru's blood, but only appeared outwardly as a small frown. "As usual you have more hair than wit, more faults than hair, and more diseases than faults."

Hotaru carefully handled the bow, acting as if it was the thing that was bruised in stead of her ego. "A shame to treat a bow in such a rough way. Almost as much as my perfectly good meal being ruined by the presence of a skunk. Scamper off before your maleficence ruins my appetite." Hotaru really wasn't in the mood for word games, nor was she willing to stand the presence of his company for any longer than she had too.
