Word Count → 439 :: That was a wonderful change scene! Good job.

Ceri’s frantic ways were beginning to encourage exhaustion in the young coywolf’s body, so he attempted to relax as much as possible as Ciara stood back and began to change. As her limbs lengthened, her body realigned, and her mane grew into long tendrils that fell about her slender shoulders, Cerberus stood patiently until his jaw finally fell open at the finished product. Without even knowing it, his tail began to sway at his ankles and his brows lifted with intrigue; he could almost swear he felt himself sweating. Then, unsatisfied with being shorter than Ciara, Cerberus flashed a bright smile before pouring all his concentration into shifting as well.

Human-like arms and legs replaced the canine ones Cerberus possessed, and the fur on his head thickened until it resembled an unkempt hairdo. The muscles on his torso broadened, defining a decent set of pecs and abs that tapered into a pair of square hips and a taut pelvis. His limbs thickened, his neck lengthened, and his masculine frame stretched to its full height of six feet and seven inches as Cerberus settled into the familiar figure. It was true that he preferred this form best, and he showed it simply by the way he carried himself. But he was less focused on himself at the moment and more on the striking creature before him - his mismatched eyes fell about Ciara’s figure in a frantic attempt to take everything in. She was athletically built like him, but curvy and feminine. She was petite, but possessing strong sinews. She was youthful, but she was exotic and enticing. With a confident swoosh of his coyote-like tail, Cerberus sauntered over to Ciara and swiftly took her up in his arms, his typical glittering smile curling the corners of his pale mouth. ”M’lady,” he said, his voice thick with desire, ”you look absolutely exquisite. But tell me, why is it that you hide those stunning eyes of yours? I so like to look at them.”

That was more like it; this was the Cerberus that everyone knew. He almost felt embarrassed as he recalled the way he’d acted only moments ago, but he knew that if this young lady was to get to know him, this was a side of him she’d have to see. And to his pleasant surprise, she didn’t seem too terribly disturbed by it. He did notice, however, that slight exasperation tainted her delicate features with each hyperactive departure he carried out, and this made Cerberus pinch his brows together with distaste. From now on, he resolved, he’d be more careful with exposing the eccentric side of himself.

If Ciara had known that the male was thinking of hiding even the smallest part of himself, she’d go against it at once. Nothing about Ceri annoyed her; she had merely been surprised at his antics, and highly amused. It had been easy to act confident and comfortable in her lupus form, but now she was shy. Extremely shy and that only increased when the male changed himself. Her deep eyes moved from his toes to the tips of his ears slowly after he’d finished transforming into his Optime form, and her own chest tightened as her breath was taken away.

He was a perfect specimen of masculinity. She found her gaze stopping at his squared hips and taut abdomen, memorizing the sight of his defined muscles. Without realizing it, her ears twitched and her tongue slipped out to lick at her lips again, blatant signals of arousal. It was something the yearling was not used to experiencing. Ceri was the first male she had acted this way with, and she was inwardly cursing herself for acting like some blushing school girl. She was nearly of age! She could act more suave and seductive than this.

However, she found that she didn’t want to. Ciara felt as though the only way she wanted to act around this boycoy was completely natural. She didn’t want to pretend to be some kind of sultry vixen, because that wasn’t who Ciara was at heart. She was a gentle, laid back wolf, and she knew that if anything was going to happen between them he would have to accept that about her. Flirting, she could do, but she would never make a slut of herself like some females did. She craved his respect just as much as she craved his attention.

When Ceri lifted her into his arms; she draped her own slender limbs around his neck. Being so close to him made her more comfortable, even in this form. Her muzzle broke into a smile when she heard the husky tones of his voice complimenting her, and she obliged his request by lifting her eyes to look into his own fiery ones. Once again, her breath was taken away, and she was rendered speechless. Even though she made no comment, her eyes clearly showed her appreciation of his form and the way she loved his arms around her. With a gentle tip of her head, she brought her nose to press to his cheek, and delivered a soft lick to the corner of his mouth.

Cerberus reveled in the way Ciara looked at him, all dazzled and turned on. This was the kind of attention he craved – he loved it when canines gawked at him. It was pompous of him, yes, but he couldn’t help it. He felt it just as much instinct to enjoy this as it was to hunt. But either way, he had Ciara in his arms now, and that made him infinitely more happy than her being enamored with him.

Almost immediately after he’d addressed it, Ciara’s eyes swiveled up to meet his and he had to set her down just so he didn’t drop her. His arms didn’t leave her waist however, and he smiled warmly as he stared into those earth-toned orbs. Though Ciara was a yearling, she held the beauty that only a mature woman could possess. Ceri’s tail wagged at the thought of being by her side always and forever, but he knew well enough that as soon as this girl approached her first heat, the competition for her hand would begin. Being somewhat spoiled as a boy, Cerberus preferred things to just be handed to him. But being alone in the wilderness provided as good of lessons as any in how to fight for what you want. With a tightening of his arms around Ciara’s waist, Cerberus resolved that he would fight for this girl if it came down to it. He had never felt so happy around any other woman before, so he figured that it had to be a sign.

Ciara offered a quick lick to the corner of his mouth and Cerberus chuckled. Pushing his snout into the she-wolf’s hair, Cerberus engraved her scent onto his brain and then let his nose trail down her neck and across her collar bone. He paused just beneath her chin, listening to the soft thump-thump of her pulse before returning to hold her gaze once more. Finally, in almost a whisper, Cerberus said, ”Lesson number three: taking compliments from a man. Ciara, you are the most divine creature I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.”

Tawny ears swivelled back the moment Ceri said the word “lesson.” A thousand ideas swarmed into the she-wolf’s head at what he might want to teach her. Her long tail curled around her legs, and arms tightened gently across his shoulders. When her companion revealed that it was simply about taking a compliment, she relaxed for a split second, one ear swivelling to stand erect before flattening right back down again. Divine? Her? If only her pelt wasn’t quite so thick, Ceri would have surely seen the effects his words were having on her.

As he set her down, she continued to look up at him in surprise before moving her head forward. She laid it on his chest gently, closing her eyes and allowing a shy smile to grace her muzzle. Slowly, her arms came down around to loop his torso, keeping the boycoy as close as possible. Ciara wanted to compliment him in return, but she didn’t know how. Wasn’t ‘beautiful’ more of a term for women? If she called him that, would he feel emasculated? The yearling was nervous all over again, for she wanted to return the kind words but had no idea how.

She buried her nose against his throat, and began to work her tongue over his fur in a loving attempt to flatten it. “Thank you…” she finally said, voice holding a barely concealed stammer. “You…well, you’re…handsome. That last word was said with a wince, for Ciara didn’t believe that it fully described how he looked. To her, if there could be an Optime equivalent to the bronze, muscled heroes of Ancient Greece, Cerberus would be it.

Shyly, she brought her hands up to his chest, and stood back a little. The girl watched her own humanoid hands as they trailed down the flat, toned plane. She was memorizing every muscle, tracing each little bump with her fingertips and staring down at them as if in a trace. She might look absolutely silly, but something told her that the male wouldn’t argue with the inspection. Finally, while her ears swivelled back to a normal position, she looked back up at him.

“Very handsome.”

Word Count → 410 :: Haha ohhh she found Ceri’s weakness XD

The wagging of the brute’s tail paused only for a moment as Ciara’s hands moved from his neck to his waist, and then pulled away completely. He feared that she would move away altogether, but he soon relaxed as her tongue found his throat and her hands his torso, forcing his tail to wag full-force and the rest of his body to nearly melt. Every touch sent chills through even his nerves as her hands roamed around his muscles, and it was all he could do not to drool. He couldn’t even watch, either, or he’d find himself in rather dire circumstances, ones that would make him curse her age with every fiber of his being. Instead he looked forward, eventually closing his eyes and trying to distract himself with thoughts of the way Ciara’s hips moved when she walked…no! The way her eyes made him forget how to swallow…no, not that either! The way…her voice made him shiver? No…definitely not. No matter how he tried, Cerberus couldn’t hide his arousal; her delicate fingers nearly burned his flesh as they trailed lower and lower. And then she finally stopped, muttering a compliment that prickled the back of his neck and rushed down his spine, forcing an audible sigh to leave his lips. He’d never been so close to tackling a woman in his life.

Slowly, his eyes opened again, the irises alight with passion as they bore holes into Ciara’s. He was sure his tail was going to fall right off from wagging so hard, and his heart had surely collapsed from exhaustion by now. He wanted to take his turn exploring her body with his own hands, but he knew that would push him over the edge; she wasn’t ready for affection like that. He’d heard of males suffering with this with their own mates before, but he’d never imagined he’d be one of them. And Ciara wasn’t even his mate! He couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be if they were actually together. Forcing the thoughts out of his mind, Cerberus chose to focus on Ciara’s nose, a random part of her body that, while still beautiful, didn’t have as much power to bring him to his knees as the rest of her body did. Labored breaths escaped his maw, and his hands slithered upward to tangle themselves in the fae’s hair as he attempted to steady himself. Finally he huffed, ”Thank…thank you.” He definitely liked her compliments.

In all of her innocence, Ciara couldn’t know what kind of effect she was having on him. Her exploration was genuinely curious, as she’d never had her hands on a male before. Her earth-coloured eyes were soft as they watched her hands move, until her arms moved around his torso once more. Her muzzle had turned into a smile, and she once again felt completely relaxed even though she was in Optime form. With every passing moment, the girl was getting used to having Ceri this close.

She could sense the way his particular scent was integrating with hers, lingering in her calico patterned fur. The primal instinct that had called to her when he first moved on top of her spoke again, delighted that she would soon smell like him. Inwardly, Ciara scoffed at this primal wolf’s delight. It was a submissive wolf, enjoying things like Ceri being taller than her, even subtle possessive acts like his fingers in her hair. It especially enjoyed the knowledge that other males would detect Cerberus’ scent as well. Even though this was truly a part of Ciara, she felt like it was too soft. If Cerberus and Ciara entered a relationship, and especially became mates, the shy and innocent yearling secretly promised herself that she would try to assert herself and wear the proverbial pants. What she didn’t know was just how easily she’d allow her mate to win that inevitable fight for dominance. They were wolves, after all, and it all came down to instinct.

Her own tail began a steady wag as the boycoy accepted her compliment, and she locked eyes with him for a split second. When the girl saw the fire in those mismatched orbs, she quickly looked away again, shy all at once. How was it that Cerberus was able to do this to her? She could go from hidden defiance and a plotted dominance over the male, to a shy girl averting her eyes under the heat of a man’s gaze seconds later. It didn’t bode well for her little plot, but she’d never let Ceri know that. She had to do something with herself before her knees gave out. They’d been growing weak ever since he twisted his fingers in her hair, finding a weakness that Ciara didn’t even know she had.

“S-…so..” she stammered, squirming a little under the man’s powerful gaze. “What now?”

Cerberus could sense some discomfort in the girl, but it wasn’t enough to cause him alarm. He assumed - what with her age and all - that this was an experience altogether new for her, and he couldn’t blame her for feeling somewhat out of place. As his fingers retreated from Ciara’s hair, Cerberus moved his arms to wrap around her in a gentle hug in an attempt to help her relax. The last thing he wanted to do was make her nervous, especially after he’d been lucky enough not to completely scare her off with the way he’d reacted to her touch. Though Cerberus liked shock factor, he never aimed for it when dealing with a woman as sensitive as Ciara. Compassion and a gentle hand was what it took to woo a girl like her, and luckily he knew how to use that just as well as his charm.

The fae inquired of what their next move might be, and as much as Cerberus wanted to continue their flirt session, he knew it’d be safer not to. Glancing around the forest, his mismatched eyes softened as he sought out a decent trail to take a walk along. And then he remembered that Ciara had suggested a visit to her packlands, and Ceri’s heart nearly stopped. Slowly his gaze returned to the girl, and he swallowed hard before even considering what kind of answer he’d give to her long-passed question. But he wanted to lift some of the pressure off Ciara’s shoulders as well, so eventually he cleared his throat and said, ”Perhaps you could show me where you live now?” He then tightened his grip around Ciara’s waist once more, resolving that the visit would do them both some good.

The girl was almost too busy enjoying the feel of the boycoy’s arms tightening around her to hear his response to her question. She looked up, blinking, and then grinned as he mentioned the pack lands. “That’s a good idea,” she said, moving forward and pressing her nose to his. It was Ciara’s first time doing anything remotely close to a wolven kiss, and her eyelashes fluttered a little at the sensation. Her ear twitched, and her tail moved around her leg and sought his, flicking against the limb when it was found.

“It’s not too far off,” she said, keeping her nose on his for a moment longer before moving back a little. Her brown and gold flecked eyes looking into her companion’s fiery ones, and the softness in them caused her to relax a little more. She had started to get nervous at the thought of walking in this form, being so unused to it. Ciara wondered if her companion would be disappointed that she wanted to change back into her lupus form for a more graceful journey to her pack’s borders.

Even though the yearling had agreed to his suggestion, she couldn’t pull herself away from him. This embrace, the river moving along soundlessly behind them, and even the low-hanging sun all served to make the moment perfect. She found herself pressing closer instead of pulling away, pushing her feminine chest against Ceri’s muscular one, and rubbing her head beneath his chin. Would she ever be able to pull out of this embrace? Her heart gave a strange little worried flip at the thought of moving away from him.

Feelings she had been sure would wait for her maturity were already coursing through her. Maybe it was the effect of being in the Optime form, or maybe it was the way she felt…at home, in his arms. A heat had filled her from the moment the boycoy’s blazing eyes had looked into hers, and it was all she could do to keep from pressing closer. Instinct was telling her to rub herself against him, to make him feel the same heat she was feeling, and she didn’t understand how it was all happening so early. The mottled subordinate knew that if things advanced to the inevitable point that was hanging in the air between them, she would be forced to fend him off with a sharp bite. So Ciara held back, not knowing she was having as much trouble controlling herself as Ceri was.

Word Count → 373 :: Would you prefer to wrap up here or keep going until they part ways?

Cerberus was glad for the reluctance Ciara seemed to portray in letting him go, as he didn’t really want release her either. He didn’t plan to let go, even if it meant strolling around her packlands with his arm around her waist. Cerberus was comfortable here, holding on to the fae. He was comfortable staring into her eyes. He was comfortable memorizing her scent and the way her fur felt against his fingers. However, when Ciara had touched her nose to his, Cerberus tried to hold it, but a tiny sneeze tore them apart. After a dazed shake of his head, Ceri whined softly and nuzzled his face into the girl’s neck again, his tail wagging lazily behind him. No, he wouldn’t let her go if she didn’t want him to. He’d stay here forever.

Unfortunately, the sun WAS going down. If they didn’t make their trip soon, they’d be trekking in the dark. And although Cerberus believed he could protect Ciara just fine, he didn’t want to chance it. Wrapping his arms completely around the girl, he hugged her tightly as he looked around them once more. All was still, they were alone. Quickly Ceri nuzzled the girl’s head before leaning away again, and he smiled softly at her. ”Let’s get going then angel,” he muttered, somewhat surprised at himself for choosing such a nickname. He’d never called anyone that before, at least that he could remember. It was almost annoying to him how much he’d changed as a result of this she-wolf’s company…and then again, it really wasn’t.

Keeping his arm tight around Ciara’s waist as he moved to her side, Cerberus jerked his head to absentmindedly crack his neck, and then rubbed his tail against the back of the fae’s thigh in a late response to her earlier gesture. His eyes remained searching, however, as if playing innocent while his tail continued to dance around her legs. He kept it a safe distance away from ‘forbidden territory,’ but didn’t neglect to let it tease around it. His playful nature was returning slowly, mingled with the eagerness to see her home. It could be, after all, his potential home, and he had to scope it out before making any true decisions.

Angel.

It was a new word to her, but she knew what it meant. Her mother used to call her that when she was a pup, and now Ceri was bringing back a wonderful memory that had long since been buried. As the male’s arms tightened around her, Ciara broke into a grin and set to delivering several soft licks to the underside of the man’s chin. She knew that it might be a sign of submission anywhere else, but it was, to her, a sign of endearment.

”Alright then, Ceri,” she said, pulling away from him and offering him a smirk. Her tail swished once playfully before she turned, taking a few steps away from him. When she was a few feet closer to the edge of the woods than he was, the yearling glanced over her shoulder in a playful and innocently seductive manner. ”I’ll race you.”

With that, Ciara quickly dropped to all fours and shifted. This time, the change went much easier for her, and she was able to return to her lupus form with none of the whimpering of before. As soon as her shift was complete, she took off, paws digging into the snow covered ground beneath her. Her athletic legs carried her easily as she sped through the forest, hopping logs and streams alike. She didn’t bother to wait for him, knowing that her playmate would never allow her to race him the whole way.

Ciara enjoyed the not-so-subtle hints of machismo that she’d detected in Cerberus. Apparently, the girl was attracted to ego and overt masculinity. It was why she’d decided to race him. She knew that he’d have to puff up and prove himself, and that he would undoubtedly make some kind of indignant huff or growl before racing after her to assert himself.

Now that she’d shown him her shy side, her affectionate side and even her Optime form, it was time for something new. Now, Ciara was going to show Cerberus how much of a tease and a brat she could be. She just hoped the poor guy would be able to cope.

Word Count → 223 :: Might as well keep going if Ciara’s got something else to show him XD Sorry for the short post btw, my brain’s dying after writing all day Tongue

The disconnection of their bodies was unexpected, and certainly unwanted. But before an agitated whimper could break out from his throat, curiosity welled up inside Cerberus at the prospect of a new game. A race? He was good at running; he might be able to win even. But there was one problem…

”I don’t know where to go, though!” he called, the words dancing away toward the forest after the fae as she took off and transformed back into the four-legged Ciara in one swift motion. Following suit, Cerberus took a moment to forcibly shorten his limbs and mane as well, his body contorting until it finally darted after the wolfess on all fours. Taking care not to run into any trees or trip in any streams, Cerberus followed close behind, the lithe figure of his playmate remaining in his view. The coywolf’s tongue lolled from his mouth as he ran, and the wind pushed through his mess of hair and held it out of the way of his eyes. With grace and precision, Ceri bounded over rocks and fallen trees until he was close enough to nip at Ciara’s tail, and he yipped playfully at her to alert her of his presence. Then, with a determined push, Cerberus galloped past the girl and tossed a wink at her over his mottled shoulder.

OOC: No worries! I'm too tired to put in all the table stuff, so bleh. >.> Short crap post! ))

Ciara had been moving along swiftly, bounding over any obstacle in her way and making good time. Before she knew it, they were passing into the Northern territories...and then Ceri was passing her. She felt his mouth close over the tip of her tail first, then heard his yip and answered it with a resounding one of her own as he passed her. Ducking her head down, Ciara ran faster.

She bolted and bolted until she just barely managed to make it past him, and as they came to her favorite stretch of shoreline close to the New Dawn borders, the yearling got brave. She'd been flanking him for the last few minutes, but now that there was the soft sand beneath them, she knew her plan would work. With one great leap, Ciara dove a few paces in front of Ceri and ducked. If her plan worked, the boycoy would trip over her and go spiraling into the sand. It was soft, so she knew he wouldn't hurt himself.

She loved the beach, loved the scent of the ocean that often lingered on her fur. The little subordinate would spend days exploring, poking her nose at random clumps of seaweed and long forgotten shells stuck in the sand. The sun was finally setting over the ocean, leaving a blazing red horizon for them to look at whenever Ceri recovered. If he wasn't too mad at her for tripping him up, she'd want to take the time to walk on this beach with him for awhile. After all, they were a mere half hour's walk from the edge of New Dawn. Ciara knew that when they came to those borders, Ceri wouldn't be able to cross.

At least not yet.

Cerberus felt proud of himself that he’d passed Ciara, but the victory didn’t last long. Soon enough, she barreled past him even faster than he’d passed her, and it wasn’t until they were out of the forest that she eventually stopped. She didn’t JUST stop, however, she crouched down and waited as Cerberus came to a skidding halt…or at least he tried to. Limbs scraping against the ground, the coywolf’s ears flattened against his head as he came careening toward the fae, unable to control his skid. All he could do was brace himself for impact as he collided with the girl, finally tumbling head over heels across the bay. The catastrophe ended with Cerberus lying on his back, limbs in the air, as he stared blankly at the sky. He was clearly in a daze.

Then, instead of hopping up and scolding Ciara like he wanted to, he lied still, admiring the sky and the smell of the salt water nearby. It was peaceful here; void of all commotion. And the sky wasn’t crowded with thousands of treetops all fighting for sunlight. It was the perfect place to live really, or at least it seemed that way so far. Finally rolling over and onto his feet, Cerberus trotted over to Ciara to see how she was faring after their little mishap. Snout stretched forward, Ceri’s pink tongue sought out to lick at her ears and face, his tail wagging calmly behind him. He was even more excited now than he’d been before to see the rest of her home.

Ciara had collapsed on the ground when Ceri went flying, yipping with laughter. She fully expected him to jump up and yell at her, and for a moment it seemed like he might. However, the boycoy simply laid there with his limbs sprawled out awkwardly, staring at the sky. Ciara, a little nervous, sat down on her haunches and let out a small whimper, afraid she'd really hurt the man.

When Ceri came over to her, though, and began licking at her face and ears, the yearling relaxed. She closed her eyes and leaned into the licking, giving a happy little whine as he seemed as thrilled with the place as she was. She nuzzled at him gently, and nipped at his neck, freely giving him affection now that she was certain he wasn't mad. In a little moment of playfulness, Ciara nipped very lightly at his ear, before pushing her nose into it.

"This is my favorite place," she said afterwards, when she'd pulled back from his ear. Licking at his snout, Ciara then ducked her head beneath his chin and rubbed against him, pressing her side close to his. The sea had nearly swallowed the sun by now, but they were blessed with the light of a crescent moon above them. It glittered over the water, and the mottled female let out a relaxed sigh as she nestled to her companion in the sand.

Reluctantly, Ciara turned to look towards the bend on the shore which signified New Dawn's territory. She knew that she should be getting back to the den soon before her pack members began to worry for her, but she was enjoying this time so much. Ears swiveling, she swore she could hear a howl - maybe it was Soran, calling for her. The yearling let out a huff, and pushed her nose into Ceri's fur.

Cerberus delighted in the return of affection from Ciara, especially once she nuzzled up beside him and they shared body heat. It was a beautiful night – the sky was unusually clear and the moon looked like a misshapen diamond in the sky. But he could sense uneasiness coming from Ciara, and this put the coywolf on edge. He wanted the fae to be happy, to enjoy his company and relax. But he knew that the inevitable was looming near, and he was just as unready for it as she appeared to be.

With a reassuring nuzzle to the she-wolf’s head, Cerberus whispered, ”Don’t worry princess, we have a while longer before I’ll walk you home.” How much time, he didn’t know. But he would carry on until the very last minute. Rising to his feet, he wandered down to the shoreline, tossing a summoning glance over his shoulder toward his playmate. With a flick of his fluffy tail, Cerberus dipped his nose into the glassy water, finally snorting at the punch of salt that greeted him. It wouldn’t provide a pleasant drink, but it would be decent enough to swim in. Lowering to the ground, the muscles in Ceri’s legs tensed as he readied himself to jump. The water fled from his body as it disturbed the stillness of it, and then he poked his head above the surface and gave it a good shake. Like a frantic puppy, he paddled to keep himself afloat as he whirled around to locate Ciara. With a beaming grin, he barked, ”Come on sweetheart, the water’s fine!”

Whirling around again, Cerberus swam around in a pompous manner in order to entice the fae, despite how chilly the water actually was. It wasn’t as bad as the river; the sun had warmed it enough throughout the day to make it somewhat pleasant. But as the night went on, it would become increasingly more uncomfortable to sleep alone… at least for him.

Ciara knew that her playmate realized how uneasy she was at the thought of leaving him. She didn’t want him to be left alone, and wished that he could just join the pack tonight. The leaders would be sleeping by now, and it would be unwise to wake them. A soft whine left her when he nuzzled at her head, and she turned up to offer him a smile just as he took off for the shoreline. When he glanced over his shoulder at her, the yearling stood and shook the fur from her pelt, then began to follow him.

It was hard not to laugh when the boycoy realized he couldn’t drink from the ocean, for Ciara had learned that lesson as a pup. She’d been caught drinking it despite the salt one day, and for the entire time she was sick afterward her mother was less than nurturing. The woman had believed that if her daughter got herself into trouble, it was she who would have to fix it.

“You’re quite the swimmer, aren’t you,” she said, after Ceri’s head had emerged from the water. A laugh left her when he began to swim around in circles, and with a playful twitch of her tail she bounded in after him. She was quick to duck under with ears flattened to her head, and skilfully came up out of the water right beside Ceri. Then, she lifted her head and set it on top of the male’s back, giving him a playful nudge under the water.

A wind was picking up along the shoreline, and soon the waves became a little more bawmy. The girl decided to make a game of this, and could soon be seen diving headlong at the approaching swells as though she were attacking them. Playful growls left her, and her tail swished happily over the water. Soon, all the accidental mouthfuls of salty water became unpleasant, and she settled for gently clamping her jaws over Ceri’s tail and drawing her paws up. Anywhere he swam, he’d be tugging her along.

Cerberus smiled as he watched the wolfess lunge into the water and swim nearer to him. He threw his head back instinctively once Ciara nudged him under the water, and then stretched his snout forward to nip at her ear, barely missing as she swam after the waves that now rolled their way. He paddled in place for a while again, watching her dive in time with each ebb and flow as a large smile hung about his lips. He had only just met the girl this afternoon, and already he was attached to her. Cerberus didn’t dare entertain the thought of never seeing her again, though he knew deep down that that happened in a wilderness as vast as the one they lived in. Still, he hoped with all his heart that this wouldn’t be their last encounter, and the prospect of New Dawn was looking more enticing by the second.

A set of needle-like teeth closed on his tail then, and he spun his head around to find Ciara clamped on the end. He chuckled, tugging his tail from her mouth gently so he could better swim to her and nuzzle her face. Soon enough, however, the influx of wind coaxed Cerberus out of the water, and he stood on the shore, listening for Ciara as he gave his pelt a good shake. Lowering down to lie on the ground, the coywolf attempted to locate the fae with a fervent gaze. He didn’t say anything, for fear it would end this glorious dream all too soon. He didn’t dare breathe even, for each second that passed taunted Cerberus with the pain of parting ways. He didn’t want to keep her out too long, however, for he knew her pack would be missing her. Finally, he lifted himself off the ground once more, and then emitted a yip directed at his playmate in order to catch her attention. Come here little miss, he called, his tail neglecting to wag despite the brightness of his voice, I want to teach you one more thing before you have to go.

A playfully indignant snuff left the girl’s nose and Cerri pulled his tail away. She hung back in the water for a few minutes, returning the nuzzles to her face with a loving little lick to his ear. Then he left the water, doubtlessly due to the increasing harsh wind. She kept paddling for a little bit longer as her playmate laid in the sand, obviously lost in thought. If she weren’t a pure wolf, one would definitely assume she was a Labrador retriever judging by how much she loved the water. Eventually, though, she began to miss the proximity of the boycoy and waded out of the water.

Politely, the girl made sure she was a good distance away from Ceri before she shook her coat out, sending a spray of sea water flying around her like some kind of damp halo. She took the time to pick a bit of seaweed from between her toes, holding her paw in the air and gnawing at it until the slimy matter was gone. Then, flexing her paws in the sand, she made her way over to Ceri. Her tongue lashed out over the top of his head, licking at the remaining salt water matting his fur down before dipping to lick over his muzzle. She was affectionate, but somehow managed to always do it in a shy and even sneaky way.

Then the male spoke, and she felt an excited shiver go through her. Just at his voice alone, Ciara was rendered into the wolf-version of a crushing school girl. Her ears perked forward at his words, and then twitched curiously when he mentioned another lesson. He’d already taught her how to fish, that day. Then had come the swimming lesson in the cool water of the river, an activity they’d repeated in an ocean stained by the red horizon above them. What else could he possibly have to teach her?

She moved closer at his beckoning, tail wagging behind her and head cocking to the side. “What do you have to teach me, now, Ceri?” she asked, voice coated once again in that innocence she always seemed to carry about her, no matter how playful she was. Something churned within her, a sort of electric excitement that had her wagging her tail all over again. This man never ceased to keep the calico subordinate on her toes, and he always had her wondering.

Aww he’s so sad to leave her.

The licks that touched Ceri’s head once the fae was out of the water and near him tugged a handful of happy whimpers from his throat and sent his tail wagging. He closed his eyes, memorizing the feel of her tongue before she eventually pulled away. He sat up, snuggling into the young wolf as she spoke, and he smiled weakly as he rested his head atop hers. I’m going to teach you what it looks like for someone to dread letting you go, he said, closing his eyes once again as he nestled into her. He knew he couldn’t stay here long; eventually he’d have to walk Ciara to that patch of trees behind them and say goodbye. But he could at least carry on with the hope of seeing her again.

He memorized everything about the girl in those moments they sat together, from her scent to her touch to her looks. He even repeated her name several times in his head just to make sure it was engraved on his brain. But eventually Cerberus reluctantly licked the girl’s ears, his tail no longer wagging as he glanced over in the direction of New Dawn borders. How could he be so hesitant to let go of someone he’d just met? No, he knew how – this girl was special, and she now held a place in his heart. Slowly rising to his feet, Cerberus stole one more lick from Ciara’s snout before saying in a near-whisper, We should get you home princess. It’s getting late. After nuzzling up against the girl for a brief moment, Cerberus stood stone-still, his body pointed toward her home as the light in his eyes slowly dissipated. A single thought passed through his mind then, reigniting some of the searing pain he felt when his brother had died: He was going to be alone again when she left.

((OOC: Sad, sad Ciara. Sad WC: 490))

Ciara couldn’t help it. When Ceri talked of letting her go, she let out a mournful whimper and tucked her nose into the fur at his throat. She didn’t want to leave him alone, and knew that even though she’d be surrounded by her pack, it wouldn’t be the same without him anymore. The calico wolf wished that she could just bring him across the borders now, but she knew that it wasn’t right. Cerberus would have to come to the borders of his own accord, and would need to be approved by the leaders. She couldn’t just force him to go.

As Ceri’s tongue moved over her ears, the girl couldn’t help but flatten them. Normally she would have loved the attention but now she just couldn’t stand it. Those licks meant goodbye, they weren’t the happy and flirtatious touches from before. Her heart wrenched in her chest as her boycoy glanced towards the borders, borders that she had no intention of looking at. Would her pack really mind if she spent the night out here with him, on the beach? Surely they wouldn’t worry too much if she gave them a howl to let them know she was safe?

She was just about to tip her head back and make the call when Ceri’s tongue rolled across her snout and he whispered those words to her. When he called her princess, it relaxed her a little, and she tipped her head up to look at him. “I will see you again, Ceri,” she said, making sure he realized that it wasn’t a question, but a demand. “I think there’s a lot we can teach each other.” She stood then, giving him a reassuring smile before standing up.

She could see that something changed in his eyes, then, and it was as though her heart was breaking. She, too, didn’t understand how she could be so torn up about leaving a male she had only just met. Ciara knew, though, that Cerberus was going to be in her life from now on. She didn’t want it any other way. Even if he didn’t come to New Dawn and try to join, she would go and find him regardless. The girl knew that eventually she’d find a way to make him hers.

A short moment passed between them when she tipped her head and began to lick steadily over his face and snout. She wanted to bring the light back to his eyes and chase away whatever was haunting them. It would always be that way for Ciara, she would always try her best to protect those she cared about, even if it meant putting herself in danger. “I’m going to go for now, but if you don’t come to the borders, I’ll come find you,” she said, looking him dead in the eye. Then, she licked over his nose and smiled before running for the borders.

Goodbyes were better done quickly.
