Anyone and everyone welcome Smile Set by the stables in the late morning of the 14th Smile Robin is in Optime.

The day was warmer than many of the days that had come before it had been. Somehow there was the faint hint that spring might be on the way soon enough. It was the late morning, the sun had yet to reach its peak so it could not quite be noon yet. There was still a thin blanket of snow that covered the lands, but here and there it was melting, giving way to the lush green grass beneath, grass that seemed even brighter in contrast with the cold white of the snow. The frost that had been clinging to the tree branches had melted away and although there was no obvious sign of new growth upon the trees, somehow they seemed to be readying themselves for spring as well. The stables gave a gentle creak as the wind blew against the old building, the old wood was prone to creaking and groaning in any case, but seemed far more willing to do so whenever the breezes buffeted against it. Inside the horses seemed peaceful, the air was filled with the sounds of gentle snorts and whinnies, something which was more than comforting to those who enjoyed the company of horses, as was the air, the soft scents of hay and horses being most pleasant to those who enjoyed spending their time with the horses. Robin padded cheerfully down the corridor of the stables, peering in at each stall, smiling as she saw each of the familiar figures in their stalls, most were chewing happily on the fresh bundles of hay that they could have only been given a short while ago. The patchwork female smiled to herself as she walked, humming a cheerful tune. She was dressed in her usual way, that being that she had a blue patterned bandanna across her forehead, like a headband; her mane was braided, something which she had only recently started doing, taming the unruly, chestnut waves and curls into a long plait that she secured with a thin strand of leather, something which she had seen her great grandmother do and was now imitating; she had to admit that she was finding it very useful so far. As usual she had her bow and a quiver of arrows slung across her back.

Soon enough she seemed to find the stall that she had been looking for, she peered in, a wide smile playing on her lips, her eyes dancing with an excited light. A palomino mare raised her head and rested it over the door of the stall; the patchwork female raised a muted grey hand and patted at the large mare's neck gently, the usual greeting between the two friends. Robin had claimed this mare when she had been much younger and they had become the best of friends, the mare, whose name was Scarlett was contented to follow her around, she seemed to have a motherly nature when it came to the patchwork Aatte. The pair often did a lot together and today was no exception, the young adventurer was planning on taking the butter cream coloured female out for an adventure today. She smiled faintly as she stroked the mare's neck, Scarlett watched her with large, careful brown eyes as she did so. The young Aatte began to whisper to the horse as they stood there, telling her of the plans for the day. Oh what fun they were going to have!

OOC here.

Only a single day had passed since Alder's fierce scolding. Terra had it very clearly drilled into her head that the horses weren't to eat. Their purpose still seemed fairly cloudy to her though. Riding them was all fine and good, but there seemed to be no need for that. A wolf could travel as fast as a horse, and for longer periods of time as well. Alder's words about treating them as equals still had her cracking up on the inside whenever she thought about it. It had made the coyote very curious what made horses so special.

She had plotted her movements very carefully, making sure that Alder was away from the barn before slinking towards it. Whether or not he had forgiven her Terra knew that her presence in the barn would do nothing but panic the horses that had finally been calmed down. Sure enough, as soon as she slipped through the door the horses began to make a racket, remembering the fiery little predator that had tried to hunt them down yesterday. Terra snapped her teeth as a horse reached over to nip at her. Growling slightly she tried to figure out what made them so important to the members.

So sorry for the wait on this! It's been uber-hectic in my life recently :S

The young patchwork Aatte could not help but feel a great affection for the pale mare, she had been her first friend in the stables; when the girl had been nothing more than a smallish bundle of fluff she had often crept into the stables, the mare was always motherly towards her, straining her long neck over the door of the stable to sniff at her and nuzzle at the top of her head. Ever since then they had been pretty much inseparable, although she could not deny that she had neglected the palomino mare over the past few days. She was righting this wrong now though, she ruffled the mare's mane as she whispered to her, allowing the mare to nuzzle into her shoulder. She smiled as she spoke to the calm mare, the tall equine creature listened patiently, watching her young charge with large brown eyes that held a strange intelligence all of her own. At this moment an awful din rattled through the stables, the horses seemed spooked and furious about something, even Scarlett jerked her pale head upwards and began to whinny and neigh in panic. Robin turned around in a quick twirling motion, eyes roving all around the stables to see what on earth the problem was. Soon enough she realised what it was, a familiar shape caught her large blue eyes. Terra. The patchwork female watched with shock as the horses panicked around the hybrid, one even attempting to bite her, the coyote girl snapped back and growled. At this Robin's eyes widened, she could not help but be shocked, all of the wolves in the pack seemed to be very respectful of the horses, why on earth were they reacting so badly toward Terra and vice versa?

She moved towards the hybrid quickly, gently patting at one of the communal mare's noses with her muted grey hand as she did so, attempting to calm them. She looked at Terra with wide eyes.
"What on earth did you do to them to make them react that way Terra?" Robin asked, almost unable to believe the violent reactions the horses were having to her friend's presence.

Her attention was drawn from the panicked angry horses to the calm ones. Curious what was making them so Terra looked over to see Robin making her way through. Her tail wagged softly as she watched with curiosity. Each horse that was calmed was gently stroked, settling them down. Robin seemed rather shocked about how the horses were behaving, relieving Terra to realize that the pack probably didn't know about her poor primal behavior.

Well, she did come to learn. Terra looked up at Robin nonchalantly, as if what was happening didn't matter in the slightest to her. I made the mistake of trying to hunt them. Apparently they're not food. Glancing back at the horses Terra looked at the horse that had tried to bite her. I'm not quite sure I understand why though. They are prey. What makes them so special? Terra looked up at Robin, expecting a complete explanation on how horses worked.

Gah! So sorry for the wait on this! I have been really neglectful of Robin recently Sad Slight PP here, let me know if you wanted it changed Smile

The young female could not help but be shocked by the horses reacting in the way that they were; she had never seen them be more than calm and often quite still. But for some reason Terra had sparked a chain reaction that had set the horses off into a frenzy. The patchwork female padded down the line of horses, patting snout and making calming noises as she did so, she did not want any of the horses to hurt themselves, or to hurt Terra. The hybrid was her friend after all and even if she had done something to upset the large quadrupeds she did not deserve to be hurt, a lot were much larger than the sandy female and almost all of them were a lot stronger, they could trample her without much difficulty. Robin didn't want to see that happen, not to her friend. She approached her friend, her long legs carrying her towards her swiftly. Terra explained why the horses were not happy at all with her presence, she had tried to hunt them, the patchwork female's eyes widened as she listened, she could not believe that someone would try and hunt her friends, that was what the horses were, they were a useful part of the pack and she could not believe that anyone would attack them. Terra then asked why it was that they were not allowed to be hunted and the patchwork female turned her head to one side as she thought about it. She had never really thought about why it was that they were not allowed to hunt the horses.
"I think maybe we should talk about this outside." Robin replied, the horses were making too much of a racket to be able to talk in the stables properly.

The young female wandered towards the door and beckoned for her friend to follow her, she smiled in a warm way as they stepped into the warmth of the lands outside. She moved to sit on the wooden porch structure that lined the stables, patting the wood in a gesture that Terra should sit next to her. She smiled and thought for a moment, trying to decide what the best way to explain why they had their horses, remembering her uncle's teachings on the matter.
"I really think it's because the horses are useful to us Terra, they're very strong and easily trained, they can move loads that we could not, we can tie ropes to them and to heavy objects and they just pull them with no trouble, we couldn't do that. Also they are not really that much faster than us, but they make it easier for us to get to places because we don't have to use our own legs to get there. Does that make sense?" Robin explained, looking at Terra, hoping that what she had said would be a good enough explanation.
"Why did you want to eat them?" The patchwork Aatte asked, turning her head to one side in a quizzical fashion.

OOC here.

The horses were certainly making an awful racket. Terra really hoped Alder didn't show up to save the day again, and this time ending up chasing her out of the pack. She hadn't really done anything this time except show up, hoping to figure out the big mystery behind horses. Nodding Terra followed Robin out of the barn. Sitting down outside Terra lazily stretched up, scratching behind an ear. Occurring to her that they were in different forms Terra began the shift to optime, bones silently rearranging before she shook herself out, long hair in her face.

Sitting down next to Robin Terra listened to the much more understandable explanation the young wolf gave her. It made more sense than them just being 'friends'. Terra had absolutely no interest in ever befriending food. Using the horses though. That was something she was able to grasp, and quite quickly. She nodded her head with understanding, finally seeing the horses as something more than food. Now, they were tools. The question Robin asked had Terra ducking in embarrassment. I was feeling a little uneasy, and thought helping the pack get some food would settle me. I saw the horses, and thought they would make a good meal because of their size. There's enough for the entire pack.
