This is for feb prompt #2, Ice fishing on folly lake! [aw;attn:Nate(little brother!)] :] -"Folly Lake has frozen over! It's still cold enough to walk on, and can provide some fun. Ice fishing is possible too, if members should find a way to break a hole in the ice."

It was too early in the morning for her to want to hunt, but she was awake, and it had been time for her to get her food for her small family of animals that she was providing for. Both of the kittens followed behind her this early morning, sometimes breaking off to chase some small rodent that they could try to outrun. It was also early enough for the sight of her owls to be of use to her, as well as the fact that she could use them to help her lure the fish towards her. The shadows worked enough, for the moon was bright on this morning that still was shrouded in nightfall. She was dressed in her regular kimono, in which she used a rope on each of her shoulders to keep the sleeves tied back. She sighed lightly as she carried her spear, and she trotted across the frozen ground. She also brought a weight from the mansion to help her with breaking the ice.

She and the kittens and the owls moved along in a flurry of movement upon the land, the kittens more swiftly than the coywolf who carried her objects in her hands. The birds flew ahead, scouting for things that they would be to rid the Inferni lands of, or for rats, and other small creatures that they could eat. They eventually found themselves at the lake, where she could get out on the ice. She went to a shore she knew of, that she figured would be either really hard or only over the top, and then she measured from there where she needed to get to that would be safest for her to stand on without the ice collapsing beneath her weight. The felines and the birds watched the thinking mind of the woman as she had moved through the snow to find her spot to fish. When she found it, it was a simple movement that seemed to be trusting of the path she had taken. Luckily, she was not wrong in her efforts.

She then started to poke at the ice with her spear, and she was working on her hole. She could use some sort of help she figured.

He couldn't understand his sister's need to be surrounded by animals at all times. Nathaniel found young animals to be needy, energy-sucking creatures, and he wanted nothing to do with them! He'd spotted Valkyrie out on the lake as he'd passed by it on his morning run and had nearly chosen to race on by rather than stop to help her. He wasn't a fan of smelly critters and wasn't sure that they would keep away from him if he chose to approach and offer her assistance. As he had began to pass the lake, however, guilt had begun to override his other more selfish emotions and he'd turned back.

"Oy" He called over the ice, beginning to walk slowly over it toward the small collection of beasts. She was his sister whether he liked it or not, and it was his duty as a brother to help her with things if she required it. Putting up with critters for a few hours would be worth it to get the feeling of guilt off of his chest. "What are you trying to do?" He asked curiously as he approached. He'd worn a black knitted sweater and a pair of sweatpants to keep from getting too chilly today, and they really started to come into use as he stood there over the flat ice plain, wind whipping his hair and fur around every few seconds.

It wasn't like Hextor would let Nate go by unnoticed, for the one-eyed owl was not in the hunt, rather he was sitting in the trees, watching for the morning runners, and the scouts, and eventually the intruders. Hex called out to Valkyrie as Nate passed, and Valk looked to the trees and cocked her head, then looked around to see where Hextor was talking about. She didn't realize that Nate had already passed by and was now turning back around, and when he came back, he was behind her. When he called out over the ice she was startled and she turned around quickly to face her brother. She smiled at Nate and then looked at her spear and the ice. "Tryin' ta get some breakfast." spoke the woman to the boy. "I need ta' get through the ice first tho'." she spoke on and she nodded her head lightly to him. Wanna help? she asked him, already figuring that if he came back, or if he bothered to walk out on the ice that he would want to help, but she asked anyways, just to be sure that this was his intention.

Valk saw the kittens start to try to walk on the ice, and she gave the kittens a spitting sound with her mouth. She got her message across to them, and they got off the ice, and pretty much ran off to go play somewhere else. Muerte, on the other hand, was flying above the lake, trying to catch enough light to create shadows that the fish could not ignore. Valk looked back at her brother and then started to poke the ice again. I'm still trying ta find a good spot ta break uh hole in it. Need somewhere where someone has made one before. Ya' know? she was sure she wasn't the only ice fisher around in Inferni, at least she hoped not, because then she wouldn't be able to do this effectively.

She continued to poke at the surface until she found somewhere that seemed like it was softer than the rest. She felt around for a circle, and that was what she found. Nate, grab that weight over there for me please. she asked him, and pointed to a cement brick that she put on the ice where it was thicker and could handle it. She then started to untie her rope that was tied to her sleeves so that she would be able to retrieve the hunk of rock when she was done breaking the ice.
