Take Another Look At Me

Anyone welcome; she’s just hanging out.

Blind lay at the edge of New Dawn territory, basking in the sun and silence. Many days had passed since she’d join the tight-knit pack, so her title as ‘newcomer’ didn’t seem truly relevant any longer. She felt happy here, void of the worry and discontent that flooded her every waking moment as a loner; she’d forgotten how tough of a life that was. But, despite the relaxation that came from finally being part of a family again, the emotional distress and months of loneliness were settling into the very grooves of the she-wolf’s brain, threatening insanity with every thought. An unsettling twitch now shook a pointed ear, and her breaths persisted to come to her in short, ragged spurts, as if she’d been running all morning. She didn’t immediately notice it, however, as it would only be truly obvious to those around her. The poor, fragile creature was deteriorating.

A bird left the tree tops with a flutter of its tiny wings somewhere in the distance, and Blind’s bi-colored eyes flickered toward it for only a moment. They then turned forward again, and she shifted her weight so she leaned farther to her right than her left. The way the snow chilled her dark fur was invigorating, and she didn’t mind that she’d been lying around for most of the morning. Unlike most days, today she didn’t have much of an appetite, so she hadn’t been hunting yet. But as lunch-time neared, a tiny gurgle sounded in her stomach – soon enough, she knew, she’d have to find something to eat.

OOC: Hope you don't mind me jumping in. Big Grin

Jiva was scouting the borders as he normally did feeling quite at home now that he had established his own scent in with the borders along with his pack brothers and sisters. He was in his birth form, as he would normally be found in and he loped along the edges of the territory. He could see Tobias not too far ahead of him scouting around the trees where he was looking for his own meal. Then he dived and Jiva could see the raptor’s prey, which was a small bird that had taken flight in fear of something below or just scared of the bird himself and thought it could out fly the bird. It was sorely mistaken. He saw as the bird dived down and locked his talons on little bird that had no chance of fighting back nor getting away.

The hawk landed and Jiva smiled a little as he moved towards the hawk, but something caught his eye. It was a black patch in the grass and his thought first went to Zalen, but it was too small, then went to insomnia but as he moved closer the scent was not hers. He flushed a little as he saw the unknown female, one of many black wolves he had met, and which he felt very out of place because he didn’t share such a common factor as they did. Instead something not seen often in wolves due to his dog heritage. It mattered little though and he gave his pack sister a smile. He looked over where the hawk had been and saw that he was hidden away eating his prey and he looked back at the wolf.

“Hello, I do not think we have met yet, I’m Jiva Takekuro.”

The young man said smiling a little. He could tell the woman before him was older than him and this intimidated him slightly but seeing as she was he would respect her enough for her age, and he did not know how long she had been in the pack, if she had been here longer or shorter than her had.

Not at all, welcome! /+238

Another bird, one much larger than the first, appeared almost as if out of thin air and caught Blind’s attention. It was a hawk, it seemed, and the poor little bird it was chasing didn’t stand a chance. The wolfess turned her head to avoid witnessing the kill, just as someone approached behind her. She sat up straight, turning toward the boy with a tilt of her head. She hadn’t seen this male before, and he confirmed that with his words. The hawk must belong to him, she thought, noting that some luperci kept pets. It was never something she fancied in particular; an animal owning another animal seemed silly to her. But to each their own, she guessed.

Rising to her feet, Blind stepped over to the boy and stretched her snout forward to steal a quick sniff. The distinctive mark of her pack clung to his fur, as well as various indistinguishable smells. She gave him a friendly smile, and a nod to acknowledge that she’d heard him. Jiva, she finally repeated, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name’s Blind. No, I don’t think we have met yet. But now we have! She giggled foolishly, feeling somewhat more like herself just from the company of another. Her tail flicked in a carefree way behind her, and she peered up at the sky. It’s a lovely day today. Are you out for a walk? she asked.
