Shake it out

ooc All welcome!

The festival was over and Orin had returned to d'Arte for good a few days ago. Her heart broke when the magic of the festivity was suddenly dispelled; one morning she just woke up and the mirth was gone from the voices outside. Instead, everything was industrious, clinical. The traders were taking down their tents. She had spent most of her time at the grounds while she was here, either entertaining men as she had learned to do or being with the entrancing woman, Soul. When the festival went away she knew she had to return to her pack. For the time, she had a reason being away, but now if she stayed outside of their realm they might think she was abandoning them.

No, I just need to get my head straight... A month at the festival grounds had not actually helped her figure out what to do about Tal, it just helped her stay away from it while trading for her pack. She thought things might be clearer when she got back to d'Arte, but it was no better. She was still frightened of who lurked around the corner, and she was possibly even more an outsider now than she had been before. Aside from all that, she was now apart from Soul. She missed the woman dearly. Would they really meet again, as promised? It seemed Soul always had the control, and one of the biggest fears in her heart was that she wouldn't come for her.

She never returned to the Terrace. Since she was back she returned to her duties at the stable, and rather than trekking back to the treetops she had laid one of her blankets down over packed hay and made that into her mattress for the last several nights. She still had a small bounty of wares and riches she had collected during her stay in the north tucked away in saddle bags in the corner of the stable. Now she crouched in the hay, picking through these things; books that had not sold, a scarf she had obtained, some other little trinkets and gifts from people she had entertained.

Hey, Nuki! <3 I hope you don't mind an outsider joining since it's the CdA contest. ><

After his thorough explanation of the garden, Skoll knew it was time to check out the rest of Thornbury. He was heartened from his talk with the two-tone-eyed white male and had a skip in his step as he darted around the houses. Occasionally, one of the d’Artisans would peek out the door and watch him suspiciously, but he was only a child despite being a foreigner, so he was left alone. With the borders open, it was assumed he had a guardian to go back to—which was true, if Terra hadn’t already up and left the Court prince behind.

He did not think about his coywolf caretaker now, however; the distinct smell of livestock grabbed his attention. Equine, bovine, ovine, hircine—many animals he knew well from the Court as well as those that piqued his interest. The musty smell of hay only helped to kindle his soaring spirits, and he stifled a yap when he saw the first goat wander past. It looked kind of like the horses that Alder took care of, but much smaller and with cloven hooves. The sheep looked like wooly goats, and the cow was only a loud lowing sound from behind the stables that he was too nervous to investigate. He kept an eye out for the horses, although he knew they were the most dangerous to a four-legged puppy with their sheer size and sharp hooves. As much as he loved the beasts, he knew that a well-aimed or accidental kick could kill him, and he hadn’t interacted with the creatures without an adult nearby.

Peeking around one of the stall doors, the golden puppy was delighted to see that there was room inside. He hopped immediately into the dim space with the intention of rolling all around in the hay—but then he realized it was already occupied. His green gaze fell upon a white wolf with brilliantly dyed hair, and he froze up suddenly, worried that this was one of those few off-limits places within the pack. He looked at the different trinkets in front of her, his curiosity for the books evident in his youthful features, but when he spoke his voice was only polite.

“Hi, I’m Prince Skoll Haskel from Cour des Miracles. Can I come inside, ma’am??”

ooc All welcome!

Thanks to the rustling and noise created by all the barn animals, Orin didn’t notice the puppy peering through the stable door. Eyes focused on the items before her, it wasn’t until he spoke and she jumped a little that she turned around to see the blond child peering inside at her, looking around curiously. Ok, who the heck is that??? She almost spoke the thought, but she was not left wanting, for before she could ask the boy he spoke the answer for her. Twisting around, she shifted her crouched body so she faced him. Her pink tail twitched with greeting, some strands of straw stuck to it.

“Of course,” she made a sweeping motion with her hand, inviting him inside, then stood up and walked toward him. Bending down, she offered her hand for a paw shake. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, my liege.” She grinned when she said this, but wasn’t trying to patronize him in the least.

Prince Haskel, son of King Haskel, her former ruler. She had yet to meet the boy and was disconnected from the tidings of her former pack, but she believed the boy the instant he spoke his name anyway; after all, he very much looked like he could be Vigilante’s son.

After that she stood straight, her movements far more fluid and graceful than they used to be when she lived in the Court herself, and then dropped into a playful yet showy curtsey. “How may I be of service to the son of Vigilane?” She smiled and winked.

Crappy pooost. ;_;

The mostly white she-wolf turned around in bewilderment, golden eyes falling upon him. She seemed less confused by his presence when he introduced himself, however, and he giggled as her saw her pink tail. He’d been painted with a veve before by the Erzulie girl, but he didn’t know if he’d want to color whole parts of him blue or green. It would be really hard to until he was able to shift, anyway, unless he had a very patient and skilled friend to put the stuff in his fur for him.

The woman welcomed him in graciously then extended a hand, which he set his pale paw in. He giggled again as she referred to him as her liege, a decidedly royal title that suited someone of his heritage. The young Haskel’s cockiness surfaced in his vibrant-eyed face, though his prancing once he leaped into the hay with the d’Artisan was only minimal. A gallant prince he might be, but he was still a prince in another pack’s territory!

Already dropping down into the hay to roll, Skoll paused to look at her as she curtseyed to him. His head dipped in an acknowledging bow before she mentioned his father’s name. He supposed he shouldn’t be too surprised that others knew the name of the Cour des Miracles King, but she spoke the name very easily. A brow quirked, and he postponed an answer to her question as he stepped closer to her. He pressed his nose into her fur and sniffed.

“You smell like Niro!” the golden puppy declared. He had been young yet when the Majordomo had left the Court, but after meeting the man’s son Jiva, his scent was renewed in his memory. He grinned at the woman. “Whatcha name, ma’am?” he asked, before his gaze fell once again to the books and trinkets laid out. “And what’s all that stuff? What’re the books about?”
