Limitless Choices

Adelle woke up, carefully stretching out. Grandpa said that keeping limbs loose was important for fighting, and that's what Adelle would do when older. True, her current targets were mostly limited to hapless sticks and play fighting with Grandpa, but she still wanted to practice. Trotting out of the room Adelle looked around happily. The feel of the stone underneath her paws was comforting, a sensation that she'd quickly adapted to. Her memories of when she was younger were growing vague, and soon would probably only remember Casa as the place that she lived in, the heritage she held lost with time.

For now though, Adelle was hungry. Trotting over the grounds and through the snow Adelle sniffed around for some source of prey. She might not be able to catch it, but Adelle still remembered struggling to find enough food to eat, and felt the need to make sure the storage remained stocked, taking fresh food when she could. Adelle's nose stayed to the ground, tracking all over the place before she finally came across a rabbit. Her tail beat the ground excitedly, wondering who she could find to help her catch it so she could eat.

Fritz Earl had taken the last few days exploring the territory of Cavalieri di Casa. He had taken the state of the various buildings around and how he could maybe help rebuild. Yet this afternoon he had decided to train with his two swords. It had been awhile since he had worked with it and he was getting a bit rusty. He knew that he wouldn’t forget about doing it since it was a second nature for him by now.

He hadn’t gotten to know many people but he had wanted to get settle in before he got to know his fellow packmates. But right now he was getting prepared for practice fighting. He had found a nice clearing and brought most of his weapons. He drew his two swords and started to use them in a beautiful yet deadly dance. It started of slow and measured then became an extension of his body and arms. He was only getting started on his workout and it felt wonderful.

His ears twitched as he thought he heard a noise. But he didn’t stop doing his practice, mostly slowing it down so he could keep an ear on any further movement.

Adelle's ears twitched as she heard someone nearby. Turning she saw a spotted canine, slowly weaving blades through the air. It was a slow, delicate dance, one that hypnotized her with it's movement. Grandpa didn't practice fighting anymore, concentrating on training her with the basics, his body too stiff and injured for this. It was something she hadn't seen before. The rabbit forgotten her burly body worked it's way over to where he was. Sitting down Adelle stared wide eyed.

Her tail thumped the ground happily, keeping pace with his movement. The speed picked up, becoming a blur before her. He slowed down a touch after a little while, and Adelle stood up. She stepped carefully, trying to mimic his movement. She couldn't whirl blades like he did, but she could copy his steps. Clumsily she tried to keep up with the fast paced movement, working on gaining the smoothness that a warrior was supposed to hold.

Fritz caught movement coming towards him from the corner of his eye. It was a small pup that wasn’t old enough to shift yet. She seemed rather awed by his movements and he gave a slight smile. She apparently didn’t see this very often and he got an idea. He slowed his movements down and tried to get them as smooth as possible. It was harder to do that than it looked but he was trying to put on a show for the small pup.

She apparently was trying to mimic his movements and he simplified them as much as he could for her sake. But she seemed to be doing rather good and he slowly sped his movements up a bit. But he wouldn’t be doing this for much longer. One, his muscles weren’t as used to this movement as he would like. Plus, he didn’t want anything bad to happen to the pup.

So he soon stopped and gave her friendly grin. ”Hello there, little one. My name is Fritz and I’m new here. What might your name be, dear?” He crouched down to be as close to her level as he could so as to not scare her. ”Would you like me to teach you some of my moves?” His tail wagged a bit as he spoke.

Mimicking his movements was difficult. Her muscles were finely toned from all the time she spent playing, not to mention play fighting with her Grandpa. Or training, as she preferred to think of it as, forgetting how serious it was supposed to be whenever she was in the middle of the game and laughing from being tickled and pinned. She did catch some of the movements, but he stopped long before Adelle was ready to. She whined a little before sitting down in the snow, tongue sticking out.

The spotted canine moved over, introducing himself. Fritz was a funny name. She caught that he was new and asking for her name, one that she gave readily. Adelle. The next part was harder to figure out, though she knew he was asking if she wanted to be taught something. Adelle cocked her head, wishing that he was speaking danish. That wasn't going to be granted though, and she nodded her head. Teach please. Hopefully it'd be some of the fighting stuff he'd been doing.

When he stopped it soon became apparent that she wasn’t ready to do so because she gave a whine. Fritz gave the little one a gentle smile that was also apologetic. He didn’t really want to hurt her or get in trouble with her parents for hurting her. He hadn’t had a whole lot of experience with pups before so he didn’t really know what to do.

But she introduced herself as Adelle and he gave her a friendly smile and tail wag. He had the inkling that she didn’t understand a lot of English but he wasn’t a hundred percent sure nor did he know what language she might know. Besides, the only language he knew besides English was German and even then it was only a bit. But she did respond that she wanted him to teach her something.

The only trouble with that was he didn’t know what to teach her or even how. If she was older and able to shift then he could easily teach her but since she couldn’t and probably only understood some of what he said. He gave an internal sigh and asked, ”Adelle, is there anything in particular you would like to learn?” He only hoped that she would understand him.

The small smile held an apology, bringing Adelle's tail to start whipping up. She knew it meant that they wouldn't be continuing, but it didn't matter. It was the same look Grandpa gave her after a rough game, and usually something else that was fun would be found to do really quickly afterwards. The adult's tail swished in a friendly manner as he came over, and Adelle stood at the ready. He asked her a question, and Adelle's face furrowed in concentration.

Learn...tackle! As soon as Adelle was done speaking she launched herself at Fritz, deciding to take down this spotted warrior. It would be fun! Her body was powerful, or at least for someone her age, and she was allowed to win occasionally when play fighting. Since her Grandpa was the best warrior in the world, it made sense that she'd be able to take Fritz down easily and win.

IC: Sowwy about the lateness Smile

OOC: Although he had decided that she was done before she actually was, he didn’t want to get her injured or too tired. But she didn’t seem to mind as much as he thought it would. Her confused look made him think again that she didn’t understand what he said. But she soon said what she wanted to learn and he was not all that surprised.

He wanted to say no but knew that it would break her heart. And he couldn’t do that to such a little girl. But she launched herself at him and he fell back like he was supposed to. He tried to hold her back while he grinned at her. ”Are you sure that you want to wrestle with a big person like me, little one?” He wasn’t planning on doing anything to hurt her.

So he turned over and gently held her down. ”I think, little one, that you are my prisoner. What should I do to you?” He looked at her and tried to judge her reactions to him. He then used his left hand to hold her and then her right to tickle her. ”I’ll tickle my prisoner!” He grinned at her and would let her up the moment that she told him to.

Growling Adelle's pounce forced the dog back. She darted up, pushing on him, working to keep him moving back. He was good, holding her from doing such a thing. Everywhere she turned a hand was already there, keeping her from tackling him down. Barks filled the air as her tail wagged with joy. The question was answered with an immediate nodding of her head. He didn't seem very big to her, but Adelle was used to being around unusually large canines, and would grow into one herself. Yes! Win! Adelle would take him down, no problem.

The fates betrayed her though. Darting up Adelle found herself picked up and flipped onto her back. Adelle squirmed around, trying to get back up. Her sharp teeth nibbled at the hand holding her playfully, unaware of how sharp puppy teeth could be. She growled at his words, only to squeal as she was tickled. No! The pup dissolved into a puddle of laughter, unable to stop herself. She pushed as hard as she could, but her tiny strength was no match for the warrior before her. Up!

Fritz grinned up at the little girl with her convinced that she had won. She might have won the first round but he had several tricks up his metaphorical sleeve. But he wouldn’t use them until the last moment and not all at once. Where would the fun in that be? But he couldn’t help but chuckle up at Adelle as she sat on his chest.

So he soon used his first trick of being a lot bigger than she was to flip her over and then pin her down gently. Then she started to bite his hand, her prickly needle-sharp puppy teeth soon becoming extremely painful. She squealed happily as he tickled her but soon wanted him to let her up. Which he could totally understand.

So he carefully let her up, all while preparing himself for any trickery that she might have up her sleeve, again speaking metaphorically. He gave her a large grin as he sat next to her, ”So little one, what do you want to do now? Attack me some more?” He wouldn’t mind if she did attack him again. That was part of what being a playmate was for. Though he did check his hand to see if her teeth had done any permanent damage, and subsequently took his eyes off of her.

The hand lifted off her, setting the puppy free to wreck havoc once more. Bounding around with her new found freedom Adelle howled into the air, a tiny cry of happiness. Fritz sat down next to her, asking what she wanted to do. The second part was lost in translation, though she did grasp that he was asking if she would do more of something. With no clue as to what it was she was being asked to do more of Adelle cocked her head, confused by his words.

Luckily, this adult wasn't very good at paying attention. He turned away from her, leaving himself exposed to the full wrath of Adelle. She launched her golden body at him, a blur of black across her body as she hit him with all her strength. Adelle tried her best to push him to the ground before jumping off, barking at her prey. Darting around Adelle moved to gnaw at a limb, working to loosen his grip and have him lose balance. Satisfied with this idea Adelle promptly forgot what she was doing in favor of squeezing underneath Fritz.
