at the castle, mar 6

Terra was still in a lot of pain, but her body had been cleaned up, and she'd pigged out on as much food as she'd been able to get her teeth in. Remembering Vikas Terra had refused to stay in the pack lands. As soon as she'd been able to Terra had dragged herself over the lands, wincing slightly at the twinge in her leg each time it touched the ground. It certainly wasn't her only wound, but it was the worst. She didn't seem to have any luck with her back leg, with this the second time it had been deeply damaged. This was even worse than the first, as she'd managed to escape it breaking last time.

A master of stealth Terra managed to move almost like she was uninjured. Anyone looking closely would notice that she wasn't using her back left leg though, and the slight wincing as she moved her shoulder. The claw mark on her side was clear to see, but at least it had been bandaged, making it appear a lot better than it truly was. Terra had been worried that Vikas wouldn't like her if she'd shown up unshifted, but even trying to change into optime form had left her screaming with pain. Instead she could only hope that he'd still like her and stick around. Finding a room in the castle Terra carefully set up some simply obstacles. They weren't elaborate, but enough to prove she was still herself, as she nestled down in the center, making sure that it didn't look like she was favoring her leg in any way.

OOC: jacket

He was nervous. It wasn't right to be nervous. He was confident, and he had every reason to be. He was strong, handsome, and capable, what more could he want? But he was so nervous he was getting jittery. His entire day, no, his entire week had been devoted to worrying over today. Vikas was excited, but he also wanted to make sure everything went right. But hell, what was this date supposed to be like, anyway? He had no idea. Was it just a friendly get-together? Did he even want anything more than that? He didn't know, and it drove him mad.

The boy had bathed in the morning, and even combed his hair for once. Vikas sorted hesitantly through his clothing, wondering what to wear, if anything at all. He wondered if Terra would prefer it if he wore less clothing, like she had. He finally settled on a tan jacket, a compromise between nothing and layering up, like he normally did. He had picked a medley of small, colorful flowers to make a tangled mess of a bouquet, but had promptly thrown it back on the ground as soon as he had made it. No, no he didn't want to get all mushy or anything like that. Finally, he convinced himself to just go to the damned castle and get it over with.

He eventually made it to the entrance, but stopped before going inside. He ran his hands through his hair, messing it up to his original I-don't-give-a-fuck look. He kicked a pebble angrily, and finally went inside. At first, he didn't see or hear anything. That didn't surprise him, it wasn't like they had picked a certain time of day to meet. He was almost relieved, it might be an excuse to scurry out the door and go curl up in a ball and sleep forever, pretending none of this ever happened. But he kept searching through the castle, looking from room to room until he finally spotted a tell-tale sign. The room was a giant death trap, with junk laying all over the place.

Terra herself was in the middle, pretty as ever. Vikas beamed, delighted to see her again. He was so elated at having found her that he didn't really see the wound on her side, and it was impossible to tell there was anything wrong with her leg. "Well hey there, 'causing trouble again, I see," he said cheerfully with a broad wave. He looked around him at the floor, deciding what his path should be. Now that he wasn't chasing her, he was a bit more cooperative with the obstacle course. He hopped over a chair, rolled under a propped up painting, knocked over a collection of old maps by accident, and leaped over what looked like a birdcage. There was plenty of other little doodads for him to jump around, but he finally reached the safety of the middle, where he stood grinning like he had just won an Olympic medal. He deserved one, anyway.

She had settled in for a long wait, but pleasantly enough it wasn't long before she heard someone moving around the castle. Afraid of doing anything that would expose herself and worry him Terra had lain still, waiting for him to find her. She grinned as he stood in the doorway, tail thumping softly. Terra was glad that she'd put some care into her appearance. Granted, most of it had been disguising her wounds, but her fur was neatly groomed so that it didn't look like she'd just gone rolling in the mud before coming. Not that one would be able to tell if she had anyways.

Only for you, handsome. Her words weren't as lustful as before, more teasing in nature. She hadn't met anyone else willing to fool around with her, playing her silly games. The closest that she'd gotten was Skoll, who was a puppy unable to deal with the danger she created, and Shadow, a wolf that had helped her improve her stealth to a whole new level. She watched as he moved through the tangle of objects she created. It was nowhere near as fancy as the one she'd made before, but it was still a decent effort considering that she'd been injured making it.

With Vikas in the center with her Terra slowly stood up, her body moving fluidly. She twisted around so that she was partly curled around his legs. Terra really hoped he wouldn't ask why she was on four legs, but if she could keep him distracted enough maybe it wouldn't occur to him to ask at all. Balancing carefully Terra stretched out, nuzzling his arm before dropping back down, wincing slightly as her bad leg hit the ground. Nice footwork.

OOC:

Her words were slightly teasing, but he felt a sense of pride in them anyway. She stood, moving toward him swiftly and smoothly until she was close enough to twist around him. She was just as graceful as she had been in optime form. As she suspected, he was indeed curious as to why she was in this form. Vikas didn't assume anything was wrong, he knew that some people preferred lupis form, and some people were prone to shifting a lot. It was true that he preferred optime, and found Fleta more attractive on two legs, but she was hardly ugly in her natural state. It made her beauty appear more wild. In a way, it suited her more. It matched that unpredictable, untamed nature he had seen in her before. He had a tendency of thinking of optimes as somehow above nature, and disconnected from other animals. Her four-legged form was just a reminder that her spirit was hardly prim and proper.

Now that he was closer to her, the most surprising thing about her appearance was not her height, but rather, the blaring bandage on her side. His eyes were glued to it, even as she rose up to greet him with a nuzzle to the arm. He watched her fall back to the ground, giving a pained look momentarily. Vikas was unable to tell what exactly had caused the wince, but it was obvious something was wrong. The grey male smiled slightly, trying to keep the concern from his face.

"Thanks," he replied distractedly, removing his jacket and tossing it on the floor. Vikas backed up a few steps to provide more room for his shift. Their meeting would be much more comfortable if they could look each other in the eyes. The male crouched down, his body morphing slowly into his bulky wolf shape. He marched back to Fleta, giving her a quick nuzzle to the cheek that was more of a short poke from his wet nose than anything. It was obvious his real target was the bandage, which he wasted no time in getting to. He looked at it curiously, knowing better than to touch it. "What's up with that?" His expression was skeptical, almost accusatory. "You didn't think you could get out of this date by going off and getting yourself killed, did ya?" he said with a laugh.

His distracted words made it far too clear that her tactic hadn't worked. He'd be asking questions. Inwardly Terra sighed, thinking about the best way to explain what had happened. The result had been from something so foolish, so stupid, that Terra was embarrassed that she'd been injured at all. If she scarred from it Terra would probably never recover from the blow to her pride. Well, at least for the first while anyhow. Terra rarely stayed in the past, always moving on and living with the moment surrounding her.

Curiously she watched the prized jacket be tossed down. To see someone else change to match her form was very odd. It was usually her shifting to match someone else. Terra didn't mind being in optime form, and had certainly appreciated the attention she'd received in it. Making him, who clearly loved optime form, change into lupine made her feel guilty. As he nuzzled her Terra nipped his ear softly. She smiled softly at the question, not wanting to laugh as it would reveal how badly she truly was injured. Get out of this? I earned this fighting off the hoards that wanted to take my place. Terra tossed her head disdainfully. Have to wonder if it was worth it with this greeting.

Reaching over Terra licked him gently. Green eyes met his brown ones. They were curiously soft for her, trying to ease his worry and concern. I'm fine. Besides, this will allow me to show you something I wouldn't be able to in optime. Hoping that would grab his interest Terra moved around and proceeded to walk out of the room through a clear path, one only visible from the lower vision provided by this form. Glancing over her shoulder Terra grinned at him as she moved further into the castle, ready to show him what was missed by those on two legs.

OOC:

She gave his ear a playful bite, procuring a happy smirk from him, but it was not enough to stop him from investigating her injury. He turned back toward her when she came back at him with her own smart-ass remark. Vikas grinned and laughed loudly, unintentionally creating an echo in the room. "Ah, I shoulda warned ya," he added playfully. The skinny coywolf didn't seem to be terribly irritated at his abrupt "greeting", so he brushed off her teasing complaint. "You deserve the welcome you get when you show up looking like you just came back from a bar fight," he spoke with a chuckle. Actually, Fleta didn't look that bad. Vikas still didn't realize how badly she was hurt. He wanted to ask, and didn't have the tact to approach it gracefully or respect that she obviously didn't want to talk about it. The only thing that stopped him from pestering her into an answer was the distraction she provided.

Her lick and strangely gentle look got him to shut up, if only momentarily. Vikas did not completely understand that she was using her tone and expression to subdue him, but it worked anyway. Unsurprisingly, her offer piqued his interest. His tail lifted slightly, preparing for a wag. "How can you have something up your sleeve again when you aren't even wearing sleeves?" he half asked, half whined. But from Vikas' cheerful and curious demeanor, it was evident he was eager to see what she was talking about. The brown and red female strode off, guiding him through the hidden path to safety outside the room. Vikas was disappointed in himself for not discovering this secret earlier and avoiding the maze altogether. The wolf clomped obediently behind her, careful not to get too close in case she stopped suddenly and his nose mashed into her rear.

Terra's ears twitched curiously at Vikas' words. What was a bar fight? Well, didn't matter. She had a whole world to show him on four legs. If he could keep up that is. Not to mention if Terra could manage to keep up this pretense of not being injured badly. It was more of a strain than she let on, body feeling weighed down with each step. At least he stuck around and didn't leave like she'd feared. Coyote doesn't have sleeves, but she's always prepared. A trick that needs preparation isn't worthwhile. If one couldn't come up with a way to fool those around her in an instant, she was through. So Terra had come up with ways to keep Vikas distracted and happy very quickly, hoping it would work.

Once out of the room Terra turned the corner, appearing to vanish. A rough section of the wall was the explanation for this. Partly collapsed it formed a kind of tunnel, difficult to see except for one angle. Inside Terra laid down, letting herself temporarily rest out of Vikas' sight. It was cozy in there. Terra was tempted to just fall asleep and recover, but she had to keep moving. Had to keep coming up with new things. Terra yipped slightly, drawing her head back out. Exploring this castle had been a fantastic idea, as it gave her all kinds of things to show Vikas now. Her tail swished behind her as she reached up, nuzzling him before she withdrew back in, moving along the tunnel to the bedroom it would open up into. Worn and broken the room was a wonderful treasure of cloth, a large mattress standing as the trophy in the center.
