There was no denying it. Her belly was obviously swollen and her appetite had soared to an all time high. It was getting harder and harder for her to run, to hunt, even to play. Once her appetite had returned, Kaira had managed to catch a few sick or old deer to feed herself. However, hunting such large prey was no longer an option for the pregnant wolf. With the last of her meat running out she would need to seek help soon. However, Kiara wasn't quite at that tipping point and she still remained fairly mobile.

Kiara was by no means a large wolf, so the swelling in her belly made her look farther along then she actually was. As the arctic wolf made her way through the neutral territories she thought little of that days meal and more about her old friend, Vesper, the coywolf Kiara knew and loved. Inferni was not far away from Ichika yet Vesper had forbidden Kiara from every trying to visit. At first the young female had considered disobeying, but after the attack Kaira had stopped even considering the possibility. The arctic wolf stood on a sloping hill and stared at her friends home. How she longed to see the scarred female again, to discuss the recent events and share with Vesper her happy news. A small snort emanated from Kiara, the white puff of her breath visible in the afternoon sun. Her mind had been made up.

It had taken the she wolf a longer than she expected to reach Inferni's boarders and when she did Kiara made sure to stay several feet away from the line itself. Although the relations between Inferni and Ichika were good, Kiara was well aware of their dislike towards wolves. For several minutes the snow wolf paced, wondering if she should call out to Vesper. Could she? Her scars burned, as if to warn her and make her leave. The skulls lining the plains did not help her resolve either. They smelled of wolves and Kiara couldn't help but be painfully aware of how disadvantaged she was. Not only was she six weeks pregnant, but she was not fighter. Even with all of the extra training she had received, Kiara still could not hold her own in a fight. The wind picked up against her back, carrying her scent into Inferni's territory. Finally, the white wolf gave up and sat on the moist ground more than a yard away from the boarders. She didn't call, but she didn't want to leave.

Once again, Emma was at the borders, sniffing around and making sure everything was in order and alright. Nothing was really out of order, skulls were fearsome, in place and doing their job apparently. Prancing through the tall grasses she suddenly ducked down, body pressed to the ground as far as she could go. Her butt wiggled to and fro, eyes narrowing onto something that was moving in the grass. She pounced up in typical coyote fashing, soaring through the air before coming crashing down on the unsuspecting victim, an especially fat hare that had it's neck broken from the force of her impact. Her tail flicked to and fro with pleasure, and she pranced out of the grasses once more, her prey hanging smugly from her mouth.

The woman enjoyed Optime form when she was making stuff, but regularly she was found in lupus form, either hunting or fishing. A strange smell wafted over the scent of blood and her nose whipped in that direction, hackles raising as she approached it. No one in Inferni appreciated stranger over their borders, but she would make the judgement once she came closer. A few more minutes of stiff trotting and she was at their skull lined border, prey still dangling from her mouth. No one had passed over, so she dropped her prey and stepped over the borders, peering around curiously. Her eyes caught a white form and instantly her tail was wagging, recognizing the scent and sight of pregnancy. She loved new mothers!

Grabbing her rabbit, she approached the other woman, muffled yips coming through the white fur in her mouth to announce her presence to the stranger. The other looked thin, even for being pregnant. Dropping her meal once again, she sat down forcefully and looked at the other, smiling. " Hungry? " The youth asked, mistmatched eyes glittering.

The wind was not in her favor. Although it felt wonderful to have the breeze gently ruffle her fur and kiss her cheeks, it made her a cripple in terms of her nose. Kiara sat anxiously, the Inferni boarder just a few yards in front of her and lined with wolf skulls. With the strange sight before her and only her eyes and ears to rely on, its no wonder she was nervous. Yet the young mother-to-be continued to sit at the boarder and wait. Why? Even she couldn't say for certain. Perhaps it was because Kiara really wanted to see Vesper, or perhaps she was just itching for trouble. Either way, something kept Kiara at the boarder while fear prevented her from calling out.

Her worries only increased when an oddly colored wolf, no coywolf, strode up to the boarders. The female was a stranger to Kiara and she knew that Inferni didn't exactly like wolves. However, the friendly demeanor of the coywolf quickly put Kiara at ease. She wasn't going to chase Kiara away from the boarder and the other woman's wagging tail was quickly mirrored by Kiara. The rabbit in the coywolf's jaws caught Kiara's attention and her stomach rumbled at the sight of a fresh kill. When the promise of food was given the arctic wolf was more than willing to make new friends. "Can I? Really?" The white wolf's hopeful sapphire eyes stared at the stranger's mismatched ones and Kiara offered a friendly smile.

Vesper. For a brief moment Kiara had forgotten all about her friend, her reason for sitting on the boarders and staring at the ominous skulls. The alabaster female looked at her new friend and wondered if she would know Vesper. Even if they were pack mates, there were always those individuals you didn't really know. Remembering her manner's Kiara gave the coywolf a small bow and politely said. "N...namaste, I'm Kiara of Ichika no Ho-en. I uh, was just wondering if Vesper was around. Its not important really, that's, I just wanted to say hi." Darn that strange word, why on earth was it customary to give such a strange greeting anyways. Kiara gave a sheepish grin, embarrassed that she had messed up the greeting. However the skulls were still bothering her. Kiara quickly glanced up at the nearest one and shuddered.

When the white female questioned Emma's intentions of food she just laughed, her tail wagging to and fro happily. " Of course you can have it! I'm a master hunter and besides, you look hungry. " The youth offered sympathetically. By no means was the other wolf weak, but pregnancy had to impair some things. She pranced closer and tossed the rabbit to the other female, then promptly sat down, her haunches making a thud sound from the impact. Toung lolling out of her mouth from her hunting, she gazed at the white female in front of her curiously. Not many wolves were brave to go right up to the Inferni border, especially since it was covered with just that - wolf skulls. She herself hadn't contributed any skulls to the collection and at the moment she didn't need to her. No wolves, or anybody else for that matter had bothered her since she arrived in her new packlands.

Catching the blue eyes staring behind her, the young swung her head back, doing a double take of the skulls. I guess it isn't very comforting to look at the skulls of your bretheren. Her thoughts were interrupted by the speech of her new companion, and she turned back to face the snowy female. " I'm not sure where Vesper is, havn't seen her in a day or so. I'm sure she is poking around somewhere. I would call her, but someone else might get curious and come, and unfortunately a lot of my pack mates won't be as friendly as me and Vesper. " As much as the coywolf was peaceful and had an especially sunny disposition, not everyone felt that way. Especially about wolves. Personally, she didn't see the reason so much. Sure, she had met some racism in her travels but it wasn't anything she couldn't ignore.

Glancing behind her once more, the silver and russet hued coywolf flashed another smile at her friend and trotted past her, coming to a standstill a few feet away. " Let's go this way, I'm sure those skulls give you the creeps. " Not waiting for an answer, she moved on, prancing through the tall, dry grasses, ears perked as she moved. The female highly doubted her companion would object.

Once the okay was given again Kiara wasted no time in claiming her prize. She pounced on the rabbit, it's still body giving slightly under her force. Kiara's tail wagged like a puppy who had been given a treat, and in some ways the analogy was correct. After all, she was very hungry and often acted like a puppy. The problem with being pregnant was that not only was it getting harder for her to hunt, she had to eat enough for four. Without a mate to help her, she was almost on her own. If it weren't for the security provided by the pack, Kiara would have a hard time during her last term of pregnancy.

Out of courtesy to her new found friend the white wolf did not start eating. Instead she tucked the rabbit safely between her forepaws and continued on with their conversation. Overall their meeting had gone from good to great. Kiara didn't see why Vesper had been so adamant about her not visiting the pack. After all, the female coywolf before her was so kind and generous. However, even the tawny female before her repeated the sentiment so perhaps there was some truth to it. "That's alright. Thanks anyways. I forgot to ask, but what's your name?"

To the young mother's great relief the multicolored female offered to move away from the wolf skulls. Kaira was used to death, however she had never seen it displayed before and was put off by it. She quickly grabbed the rabbit at her feet and set off after the coywolf. The day was a beautiful one and Kiara enjoyed walking through the tall grass. Her own fluffy tail wagged high in the air while they walked. A crow caught Kiara's attention, its black body not too far away from the canines. The birds beady eyes watched them suspiciously and for good reason. A growl left Kiara's lips as she lunged at it, causing the black bird to fly away indignantly. The arctic wolf always loved chasing after birds, even if she was pregnant. Kiara turned back to her companion, and gave the female a cheerful and awkward smile.

Her creamy tail waved from side to side with pleasure, at least this wolfess had enough sense to heed her warning. She was not a scout, nor a fighter, no, but she was part of this pack and had heard many stories. All of which, happened to be backed up by the skulls marking their border. The snowy angel followed the darker, blood tinged youth happily. The sun warmed her back, and she smiled. Maybe it was youthful innocence, somewhat foolish, but maybe this was how she would meet people, friends and enemies alike. Her existence in the pack had been short, yet she had expected something filled with so much scent and activity that she would have made a bigger impact by now, met more like her and established more relationships. Most of her relationships forged, good and bad had been outside packlands. This, was disappointing.

Maybe Inferni wasn't right for the youth. She glanced back at her packlands and shook her head, disgusted with the thought as soon as it entered her pretty little head. Inferni was chalk full of her kind, and she wanted, yearned to be a part of something so magnificent, so utterly her. Maybe the youth would seek out her leader, the one she had pledged loyalty to but still remained a smoking shadow in her mind, a name with no face. Her mind was brought back by the question asked by the alabaster female behind her, and while still prancing about she replied. " My name, is Emmanuelle Brenna. You can call me Emma or Ems for short, if you like. What is your name? " She answered, and questioned back. The white female didn't answer just then, choosing to chase after the inky body of one in flight, a crow. Dropping down into a play bow, she watched in excitement.

A game! How wonderful! Hunters instinct took over and she lept into the air, in typical coyote fashion and soared through it, close to flying as one with four legs could get. The wind rustled through her rust and silver streaked pelt from her few moments in flight and gravity came about, bringing Emmanuelle to the ground directly in front of the female. A snarl erupted from her muzzle, a fearsome sound that Emma had only heard a few times before from herself, and nary a moment after her creamy paws touched the cold dirt she was off, speeding through the tall grasses after the bird. Her intention wasn't exactly to catch and kill, but she pretended it was anyways, more fun that way. The bird squawked in displeasure at being chased, and it's little brain took to flight as it's safety. Her hunters brain cold and calculating, saw the birds muscles bunch up and at the moment it took off so did she, the bird getting barely a few feet into the air before milky white jaws snapped at it's tail feathers.

Deliberately missing, she landed back on the ground with black feathers in her maw, and the youth turned around and looked for the white female, wondering if she had gave chase as well. Emma looked ridiculous, inky feathers hanging from her teeth and a few on the top of her head.

Emmanuelle, it was a wonderful name and suited the coywolf nicely. On top of that she had many nicknames, different words to call her by. It almost made Kiara jealous. Kiara loved her name, really, but she never had any nicknames. The white wolf wondered what it would be like to answer to many names. How did Emmanuelle keep track of them all? Suddenly, a sickly sweet voice drifted out of Kiara's memory. Hearing Romeo's voice in her head made Kiara gag. He had called her so many things, each one sweeter and more vile than the last. He was insane, and had for some reason taken a liking to Kiara. If she never saw that male again, it would be too soon. The arctic wolf pushed the horrid memory out of her mind with a flick of her tail and answered Emma's question. "Kiara Amarok"

Chasing the crows was something Kiara loved to do, and soon Emma had joined her in the game. Both wolves raced through the grass and soon more crows were in the air. Many of them cried out in low speech, a jumble of avian words that Kiara didn't understand or care about. With the hare in her mouth, the pregnant female was unable to snap at the crows, but that didn't stop her from chasing them. While Emma chased after the original crow, Kiara turned to one that was closer to her. After a little while the alabaster female's movements slowed and she paused to rest. She turned a full and toothy grin towards the coywolf only to nearly choke on her rabbit in laughter. The black feather's stuck to the youth's maw were a sight to see.

The harder Kiara laughed, the harder it became for her to hold onto the rabbit and soon its white body dropped to the ground. It was several moments before the wolfess regained controlled. "Those look good on you. You should consider keeping them. I'm sure the crow wont mind." Kiara stood and awkwardly shook herself. Her swollen body was difficult to maneuver in, and she was only going to get bigger. In less than a month the female would be ready to deliver her puppies. Kiara wondered what it would be like to have puppies of her own. Would they have a better chance at surviving in a pack full of luperci? Sapphire eyes stared at the coywolf, wondering if they would be as friendly and kind as Emmanuelle.

The youths tail flicked back and forth quickly, and she dropped into a play bow as the white wolfess in front of her laughed long and hard. It gave Emmanuelle pleasure to make others laugh, she was indeed a social butterfly and she felt that she might have made a new friend, though it might be difficult for her fellow clan members to see past her heritage. As Kiara's spoke of her, ahem, fashionable appearance the coywolf let out a sharp yip of laughter and struck a pose, the feathers flopping in front of her face. Giggling, she shook them off and looked at the ground where they landed. She might keep one of two of them, to remember this playful jaunt the two of them had taken.

Panting from all the fun, the younger coywolf plopped herself down on the ground and caught the blue eyes of the female in front of her. It was hard not to notice the heavily pregnant body of hers, and the coywolf decided to get more information. She was very caring and concerned of others. " When are you due, if you don't mind me asking? Puppies are so cute, I bet yours will be adorable. If you need any help, at all, give me a call and I'd be glad to give you some assistance if you ever needed it. " The mottled female offered, kindness radiating from her calm gaze. Of course, the youth only had just met Kiara but helping out came naturally to the every sunny woman.

If Kiara rebuked the coywolfs offer, she wouldn't mind. It was hard to let a stranger in, even one as friendly as Emmanuelle. Sometimes it was too much for other people.
Running and playing was something Kiara loved to do. Despite the fact that she was expecting puppies of her own, in many ways the young female felt like a puppy herself. She wasn't even two years old, and her world had become so big. If anyone had told her a few months ago that she would be pregnant and playing with a luperci, she would have said they were crazy. Yet there she sat, outside of Inferni boarders, panting and laughing after playing with a luperci. A toothy smile was plastered onto her face as her tongue rolled out to the side. The two girls giggled and laughed together while Emma stuck a pose to show off her new "look."

While both females rested, the conversation turned to Kiara and her puppies. It seemed as if the coywolf shared her love for puppies and Kiara puffed out her chest proudly. The offer for help was as genuine as she had ever heard and it was endearing to think that her new friend was so willing to help. "Thanks! I hope they are as cute as the rest of the puppies in Ichika. I love puppies and I'm the packs puppy sitter. Although, I'm not sure how well I will be able to fulfill my duties with young puppies of my own..." The arctic wolf cocked her head to the side as she tried to think up clever ways to get around her situation. There were four puppies in Ichika, and all of them were growing up quickly. But would she have time to help them when she was a single mother?

"Oh, right! The puppies are due in about a month, just in time for the spring showers. I will be sure to call if I need any help, but Ichika is so kind and caring. I'm sure I will be well looked after. How about when the puppies are older I bring them to neutral territory so we can all play together? If were are lucky Vesper might join us as well." An innocent smile spread across Kiara's face. She liked almost everyone she met and was quick to make friends with them, except for Amy and Rojo. She hated those two.

As both females sat on the ground and rested, Emma took a moment to look around. She wanted to make sure she wasn't super far away from her clan land lines, although it was far-fetched the woman didn't want to be responsible for an intruder to come waltzing up even though her responsibility wasn't scouting. Her mind drifted slowly back to her meeting with Vesper, she wasn't sure where she belonged in this pack because she was a hunter and fished by nature, but those tiers were taken up by her aqqaitence Omni and some other coyote member. It was frustrating, not knowing where you belonged. Emma had been feeling a lot of this lately, and she wasn't sure what to do about it. Sighing softly, her gaze drifted back up to the sapphire blues of her companion.

Kiara seemed to like Emmanuelle well enough, and her tail thumped loudly against the ground as the snowy wolfess reacted in a good way to her offer. Being in a pack, or a clan in her case was always handy during pregnancy. The youth couldn't imagine being by yourself in the unforgiving lands outside clan territory giving birth to several bundles of compeltely dependent and vulnerable puppies. It would not end well if someone with less then steller intentions decided to take a stroll past. " I would love that, and I bet Vesper would too. " She exlaimed happily, pleased with the future appointment that had been set up with her new friend.

Her thoughts turned to the aftermentioned pack that Kiara belonged too and her interest was piqued. Emma only heard about a gathering of coyotes before trundling alone over to Inferni, so she had not learned little to nothing at all about the other packs in the area. " What is your pack, Ichika like? I havn't had too much expierience with anybody outside Inferni. " She asked simply, ears perked and tail still thumping, though not as hard on the ground behind her.

Emmanuelle was a great coywolf, although her occasional glances back to the pack lands were a curiosity for the white female. Emma was very nice, and she didn't appear uncomfortable in Kiara's presence, yet she still took the time to look around as if she was expecting to see someone. Kiara glanced around quickly too, but didn't see, hear, or smell anyone else. Whatever the coywolf was looking for, it was a mystery to her. Either way, Kiara wasn't really bothered by the odd behavior and put it out of her mind.

With Emma's acceptance of Kiara's offer for a play date, their friendship had been sealed. Both females were in a happy mood and tails thumped loudly against the ground. The pregnant female nodded vigorously to show she understood and her toothy smile stretched across her face to the point that it was almost painful. Playing with Vesper, Emma, and her puppies was a wonderful idea and Kiara quietly applauded her own genius.

The question of packs came up and Kaira was more than happy to answer. She loved Ichika and enjoyed boasting about her pack. Even though Ichika wasn't the arctic wolf's birth pack, it was home and it was where her family resided. "Ichika is wonderful. It is filled with many different types of canines and they are all really friendly. On top of that, there are lots of puppies to play with and they are so cute. The only down side is that almost everyone is a luperci." Kiara didn't mind being around luperci, but it was a little lonely to be the only uninfected wolf in the pack.
ooc; ems is like wtfffffff. xD

At the snowy wolfess's next word Emmanuelle's ears perked with total curiosity. What did she mean by that? Everyone is luperci? Was she not? " What do you mean by that? Are you.. not a luperci? " She asked, eyes wide at the possibility. The mottled female had never been around canines that weren't luperci. The virus had spread far and wide, and it touched everybody she knew. It wasn't even considered rare to be a luperci now a days, everyone was infected. The rarity was that Kiara, if it were true, wasn't infected. This rocked the females mind. Her expression wore disbelief, and she quickly shook her head, not believing it to be true.

Even if it was, how was she not infected by now? Most canines had been in fights of some kind, wasn't that how it was spread? Had she lead a peaceful life? Would she continue too? Did she want to be a luperci, or to remain 'normal', if you could even call being restricted to one form normal anymore. There was too many questions for the young female to even get out of her mouth, so she just continued to sit there wearing the mask of disbelief. Her mismatched eyes beckoned the pregnant female in front of her to elaborate - and just as her pregnancy flitted through the youths mind another, final question was raised. Would her pups be this way too?

Shaking her head, she snorted softly. Emmanuelle's opinion of Kiara hadn't changed - she wasn't one to judge another, so instead she re-routed herself back onto the subject of packs, if only for the moment. Regaining her composure, she offered the other female a reassuring smile. " I apologize, I have never met anybody that wasn't a luperci, if that is indeed what you are. Your pack sounds very nice, do they let visitors come? I wish Inferni did, but the coyotes are super prejudice, unfortunately. " She said, her nose wrinkling at the last bit of her statement. Differences be damned, wolves were not so bad. Look at the one right in front of her! And she was a true wolf!

Kiara didn't really think that her condition was all that rare. She had been born and raised in a pack where there were no luperci and the few packs that surrounded her valley were also filled with natural wolves. Her first encounter with the shifters was when she had first arrived at Ichika. In her mind, they were the odd balls. Although, since she had decided to stay in Nova Scotia, the white female had only come across two others who were like her and couldn't shift. So, perhaps she was the odd wolf out. Emmanuelle's expression of disbelief only made the idea more plausible.

The two female sat silently for several minutes as the coywolf wrestled with the prospect that Kiara couldn't shift. Her stares made the pregnant female a little uncomfortable and she shifted around a little. The questions that burned in Emma's bicolored eyes were difficult to ignore, but Kiara wasn't sure she wanted to answer them. The pregnant female didn't often talk about her inability to shift, so the questions and stares of disbelief were still very new and frightening. What did other's think of her? Eventually Emma shook her head and voiced some of her questions. Luckily for Kiara, they weren't all about her inability to shift.

"It's alright. Although it is true that I am not a luperci. I grew up in the north were there weren't...well, any luperci." The white wolf paused, unsure if she should continue on with the subject. Kiara was proud that she was normal, but there were some who hated her for it. "Visitors are welcome, but most visits have to remain on the boarders. Inside visitors need special permission."

ooc; i think i am going to have ems take her leave, i'm not sure where else this thread is going. xD
p>Emmanuelle's smile dipped into a slight frown as she picked up on the females uncomfortableness. She looked at the female apologetically with flattened ears, her mis-matched eyes big and sorry. If she had caused the other female discomfort, she hadn't meant to. The yearling was just that, a yearling. Still new and young to the world, she hadn't experienced a lot of things, one of them being non-luperci. Trying to signal her friendliness to the other female, her stance hadn't changed on their newly forged friendship she let her tail sway too and fro, trying to engage the other in lighter feelings.

The afternoon had become later and later, until the once blue sky had become a mixture of pinks and purples. The change had gone unnoticed to the two females, for they were too busy for play and friendship to be concerned with the aging day. Her mis-matched eyes sought the heavens and she frowned, disappointed with how the day had gone by so fast. Lowering her gaze down to the snowy wolfess in front of her, she once more offered an apologetic smile. " It's getting late. I should be going now. " She said, her tone somewhat sad with the departure of her new friend so quickly.

" It was really nice meeting you Kiara. I will have to let Vesper know about our plans, if they are still on.. They are still on right? " She asked, concern crossing her face. Hopefully her social faux pass wasn't too bad with the other female. While she waited for an answer, she gathered the crows feathers at her feet and offered another smile to the female.

It seemed as if Kiara's discomfort was noticed by her companion and the coywolf gave an apologetic look. Kiara smiled in response to try and show that there were no hard feelings. As one of the few uninfected wolves in Nova Scotia, she would have to get used to others treating her differently and the shock that always seemed to come when she admitted her situation. Although, the more time Kiara spent in the luperci world, the less ignorent she felt. Some of the luperci were just as ignorant about her, as she was about them.

The atmosphere quickly lightened although the sun had begun to set. The arctic wolf had spent a long time with Emmanuelle and although she hand't accomplished her goal, she at least made a new friend. Kiara nodded when Emma expressed her need to leave. The pregnant female also needed to get back to Ichika. She didn't want to stay out of the pack lands for too long in her vulnerable state; especially with the threats of Amy, Rojo, and Salsola so close by. "It was nice meeting you too Emma. Our plans for later are still on, and I wouldn't miss them for the world. I had a great time today."

With their goodbyes said, it was time for both females to part. Kiara grabbed her rabbit and gave Emma a wag of her tail before departing. Vesper was wrong, Inferni wasn't so bad.
