The same old streets, just a different name.
Same old house, just the family's changed.
Word Count :: 322 Forward dated to the 9th :3 Lokni is partly perceptible.

He should have been sad, surprised or even depressed to return home to find the tree house empty, but he wasn't. It was just like them to up and leave him again when he was away; although it surprised and hurt him that Alaster had also abandoned him this time. Ayasha and his mother.... he expected them to betray him, to abandon him; they had done so before and he had no doubt they'd do so again, for they clearly only cared about themselves. He meant nothing to them and deep down he had already known this, it was just that he hadn't wanted to believe it, had desperately hoped he was wrong.

Sat underneath the shade of what was once his family home he tapped the chisel lightly with his makeshift mallet, the chisel cutting roughly into the wood. Ever since he'd returned home he'd sat outside cutting away slowly into a large chunk of a tree trunk that was roughly a meter in height, his aim to carve some sort of jaguar into it; for since he had been abandoned he had no one to show his spirit guide off too, it seemed like a good idea to carve Lokni and leave the finished totem somewhere where others could see it, where they'd see and know that he had a might spirit guide, where they will respect his work and admire the black guide.

Laying beside him, his black head rested on large paws, Lokni silently watched his charge working. Not comforting his charge, not saying a word; he simply watched and observed how Ahiga was dealing with the situation; when the kid was ready to talk he'd listen but he wasn't going to demand answers. Inside he felt hollow, unable to think or do anything aside from carve into the wood, unwilling to think of the betrayal of his family and allowing himself to become a numb empty shell.

I hope you don't mind I set this to late afternoon. Not sure if Lokni is actually visible or not, or just audible so left it vague.

Gemma was still jittery and excited from the hunt the day before. Even though she hadn't actually taken part in the bringing down the prey she had been herding and keeping their target separated. She had actually been useful for once and the girl almost shone from how good she felt. She had even managed to collect some of the fat to use to light Aniwaya's village torches so all in all it had been a good day, it had been a good few weeks. Despite Matteo's absence and her increasing worry that he wasn't coming back to her ever, it was in competition with the fact that she'd found a family member, another half brother. She had someone of blood who cared for her as blood should and not in the incestuous way that her father had, he had done the same to Talesin and Gemma felt a small anger towards their black furred sire.

She was returning to the Great Fire even though she had finished her chores for the day, the torches were taken care of and the stores replenished. Later into the evening after she had relaxed a little and eaten a meal she would practice the moves for the fire dance. Ralla, the previous Master of the fire was a great help to her with positioning her arms and legs. By her side Tamai Waki was a silent shadow, offering nothing in the way of conversation for her but she was not one for idle chatter regardless. Her eyes slid around the houses they passed and fell onto a light colored boy busy with a piece of wood and a knife, she was all set to walk straight past him when a soft whisper met her ears,

"Go and say hello." She turned, a refusal upon her lips when she met his stern stare and folded within moments. She stopped a distance away from him, her eyes focused on the floor nearby , not even looking at him,

"Hello. What are you doing?" Her apprehensiveness was within the tight bunching of her muscles and the flattening of her ears.

Again and again he chipped into the wood, green eyes completely fixated upon the task at hand, oblivious to what was going on around him. So far he had managed to get the general outline of Lokni's head into the wood, his style used thick grooves to define things and the shapes were emphasized and exaggerated giving his work a more abstract appearance. Overall he planned to only have features such as paws, eyes and mouth protruding from the bulk of the totem, the rest of the details would be painted with black and other colours to make it both bright and interesting.

Leaning back he squinted his eyes and looked at the outline, plucking a carving knife from the ground beside him he began to round some of the corners off, as sharp corners looked strange where Loki himself was elegant curves and rounded shapes; only the jaguars face was slightly angular. As he pressed the knife into the wood and began to remove the sharper corners a voice reached him, causing him too look up to see a white female so pure looking, the lack of colour in her pelt reminded him of Alaster causing his chest to tighten but he forced the pain out of his mind. “I'm carving him” the words were soft and he pointed to Lokni whom had suddenly become completely visible. “Worthy of having a totem of don't you think” he elaborated, pride and attachment showing clearly with the way he spoke about the jaguar. “Who are you?” he asked, flicking his eyes back to his work as he pushed the knife through a surprisingly tough bit of the wood, the chunk eventually falling free.

Feeling the newly cut parts he placed the knife down beside him and picked up a finer one and began to cut away again at the areas he had just worked on, removing the rougher parts.

sorry x.x sorry| 359

The younger male was very involved in his work and Gemma was loathe to interrupt his concentration, what if it were something really important. Again she turned her head to look at Tamai Waki but he just tossed his horns and wavered between his own world and hers creating a half visible spirit guide that was translucent. She recognised this lighter boy now that she saw his face from the hunt the day before. She hadn't actually spoken much to anyone and had kept to herself really, shyness was part of her nature sometimes.

It was achingly obvious that he was carving something and so her question felt stupid as it slipped from her mouth, she should have asked him what he was carving instead and her ears shrunk back against her head a little more. But he was surprisingly nice to her, and didn't snap at her stupid question and actually showed her what he was carving as his spirit guide came visible to her eyes. The black cat was certainly a sight to see and Gemma worked hard not to cower away from the obviously dangerous looking animal. Only Tamai Waki's presence stopped her from running scared. The boy seemed to look to her for approval of his creation, he was proud of his work, Gemma couldn't remember anything she had ever done to make her proud of herself, apart from joining in on the hunt.

Yes. He's very impressive. She was very softly spoken, her voice almost a whisper upon the still air. His question turned back onto her and she stuttered over her words,

I..I'm Gemma. Gemma Sawtooth. On the inside Gemma was positively miserable about socializing with someone in a one to one setting. She didn't do very well in any setting that requited her to be social, she preferred herself and that was it unless she had taken the attentions of a male. But this younger boy hardly counted as a male, at least to her which was strange as she usually didn't discriminate between ages but there was something about him, maybe he was jut as lost as she was in a way.

The general shape of the chunk of wood was gradually looking more and more like a panther, as Lokni had proclaimed himself to be. Admittedly one may have had to squint their eyes and tilt their heads until it became apparent the carving was that of a big cat, but the young Nishant didn't let that bother him and in all truth he didn't care if others may find his work too abstract to understand. All he wanted to do was show the world that he'd gotten his spirit guide, as well as do something for the persistently silent, scary as heck guide in hope it would please him. It also helped that the simple task of carving gave him something to do, something that kept his mind away from the darker thoughts of his abandonment yet again.

Digging the knife into the rougher areas, he cut the sharp angled edges off, smoothing the piece down where it needed to be; although he planned to rub sand over it and a few other methods he'd come across to really finish the carving up and make it soft to the touch. Taking a few moments to continue his work before responding, he lightly scratched some spot markings into the wood; for where Lokni's fur lightened to a black-brown instead of it's usual slick clue-black, some spots were visible. Moving to the face he faintly scratched the general shape of the panthers pupils and then turned his head so that he faced the white woman. “Nice to meetcha Gemma, then. Is there anything I can do for ya or you just curious and wanna watch?” he asked and shrugged his shoulders as if her response mattered little to him; she could stay and watch if she wanted, if she needed him for a reason he'd hear her out.

With his response said he turned back to the block of wood turned abstract panther and began to work into the areas he had previously scratched in.
