Hi guys! It's about time we had another pack thread, so hustle on in for some grub! Sirius and Eris have a few new things to announce to the pack, although some of you may be aware of them already. Also, we've got a few promotions to celebrate! Congrats to everyone who has moved up a rank :3

You don't NEED to reply in here (as this particular thread is non-mandatory), but unless Sie or I hear from you, it will be assumed that your character is present, as per usual <3 >> Word Count: 3+

Sirius by Nat

Change was all about them. Usually, it was something to be suffered in silence; A law of nature that all creatures could only obey, and never hope to truly conquer. Sometimes, those with the ability to could embrace change - Adapt to it, and in doing so, better themselves. Salsola had once been born of such adaptation, and from these humble beginnings, it had surely been twisted into something much more glorious. And yet, change would still effect them in both pleasant and terrible ways. Change was, as it had always been, the only constant thing in the land of thistles.

Cool dusk air filtered through his lungs as the man emerged from his chamber. Deft fingers snapped the golden clasp at his throat shut, firmly fastening the heavy bearhide cloak about broad shoulders. The hand that had raised to do so emerged fully from the dark fur of the dead beast, revealing a stained bandage wrapped about the fore-arm. Sirius rubbed at it absently. The wound underneath had finally knitted - That intruder bitch had sliced quite deeply, and due to his own pride, the King had gotten the laceration infected. It had taken quite some time to heal, and the permanent scar left behind would serve as a reminder to the peacock monarch. Even in his pride, he had to be wary; Hatred lurked outside his borders, and if they were to preserve their way of life, then his people needed to be constantly on guard. Paranoia and suspicion was more than an emotion to those who dwelled within Salsola - It was a way of existing.

His dark form moved silently through the Ruins. A heavy fog had spilled in from the sea, clutching at his tall shape with icy fingers. In the distance danced the yellow glow of many fires, lit about the circle where a feast awaited him. The slaves had been at work all day, as was their due. It was time to call his Family to him - Time for the Last Supper to begin.

The man strode through one of the gaps in the crumbling circular wall, the dark cloak flapping at his heels. Acidic eyes immediately sought out the frame of his Auxiliary. Fire danced on Eris' midnight pelt, and she was, as always, beautiful to him. Black lips twitched up in a smile, but he said nothing, instead moving to his place at the head of the table. Apart from Eris, and the slaves she had been supervising, none had arrived within the circle of fires, to be seated at the long wooden log-table. Sirius settled on the hard-packed earth and closed his eyes a moment, stilling the chaotic chorus of thoughts within his head, creating order in the sheer genius of madness. Then, he tiled his head back and loosed a wavering cry, the ringing beckon of a King to summon his subjects.

Salvia yanked her hand away as Luna reached for and snapped at her. The surprising display of aggression brought a chuckle from behind her, and she glanced over at her father. He was closer to Horse’s stall, who was behaving in an equally foul manner. “They’re gonna drop soon,” he explained, something that Salvia could see well enough. The three mares, who had all had their neighbors moved this afternoon for fear of one or the other getting hurt, had been restless for days. It was the aggression that had begun this morning, when docile little Luna had given Itachi’s horse a savage bite on his neck. Luckily it had not been serious, but her behavior had surprised Salvia, who had gone to her father for advice.

Larkspur had explained that when Horse had foaled the dark colt that he had to separate her from the other animals, and the only sign that came after the aggression was the dropping of teats. None of the mares had done so yet, though he suggested that Salvia would need to rest at the barn to keep an eye on the animals. While she would have favored her own bed, the girl understood. She’d need to find TK and have her hunt for her during this time—ensuring the foals came to be without complication was a priority over herself.

They were finishing up when the call came. Larkspur drew to attention as he always did, dark ears rising and body stiffening. The signs of his aging were becoming apparent to Salvia, who could see further splashes of white, further aches in the way he favored one leg over the other. The bear’s scars on his right haunch had damaged his muscles deeply, something even a behemoth could not ignore. She worried for him, but it was not her place to question her father. She joined him quickly, and the pair made for the ruins.

Aside from Sirius and Eris, they were the first to arrive. This pleased Salvia greatly, and she took time to approach both her mother and the Boss and give the formal greeting. She lingered near Sirius briefly and mentioned the coming foals, and then took her place next to her father. The scent of horse clung to her savagely these days, but she was proud of it now—she had worked hard to rise to her father’s role.

Odessa kept herself tightly latched to Imhotep's arm, nervous at facing the masses for the first time officially as a mate pair. While she knew it was likely no one cared as much as they'd put on in the face of their leaders, the nerves were bound to arise. Odessa was still also pretty shaken up about touching Immy after the incident last time concious physicality arose. Pumpkin eyes peeped out from an over grown fringe, gazing over the crowds. Her grip tightened comfortingly, as she led Imhotep to the place where she sat. She didn't know if that was fine with the others, after all there was a difference in rank between the thick pelted Canadian medic and the sun kissed Egyptian man.

But, nevertheless, she sat down along side him and glanced up the table to Sirius and her Aunt, nodding her head respectfully towards him and glancing towards her new mate to instruct him to do the same. She'd been diligent in caring for herself before the supper. The white of her cheeks and stomach were pristine. And her hair was brushed for most of the afternoon. The medic gardener had made the most of her large selection of herbs and used them to scent her fur.

Word Count :: 304 ooo awkward Imhotep

Imhotep walked next to Odessa. She lead the way and he just followed. He was now her husband and her guardian. He would keep her safe from anything that would threaten her. Looking down at her slightly he smiled here he showed her the utmost respect and would do anything to show that to her. They moved to a seating spot and Imhotep found himself looking at Eris once again she was just another rock that would he hoped make sure he was not breaking customs. Bowing the her and the male leader he had yet to meet.

Imhotep made sure Odessa was seated before him moved to the opposite side of the table. He had done his duty making sure she was comfy before he seated himself across from her. He felt as though e was not where he should be though. She seemed to know what she was doing but he on the other hand well. Place them alone and he had a back bone. surround him by the rest of the family and he might as well be a noodle.

He looked around trying not to make eye contact with anyone but he found himself not really feeling hungry. Maybe it was the fact that he would tell the lot he wanted odessa. Eris had given them her blessing but he had yet to truely mate her. He couldn't seem to grow the back bone. Instead they'd say good night and he'd sleep on his side not touching her. Or he'd hold her and they would pass out. He was oh so brave wasn't he?

Brought both Draugr and Wisteria in.

Her attentions had been so focused that when the news of a Last Supper came Siv had been almost frustrated. Of course, she was a woman who kept composure and took the time to not only clean herself up but dote over Draugr until she looked flawless. The girl was nearly an adult, and she would soon need to seek the approval of her leaders for such a rite. Siv was certain the girl would succeed; her peculiar, quiet daughter, was a ghost and a memory of the one that had grown in this rocky, savage land.

Hair loose and cascading in a silver-black waterfall, Siv wore her ceremonial attire. Black raven feathers glistened in the firelight, and purple-dyed leather was free of any flaws or dirt. The silver links on her hips, accenting the broad nature of her curves and thin waist, glistened with the same polish as the circlet on her head and symbol around her chest. With her daughter in tow, the pair made their entrance in a grand fashion.

There were few others yet; Salvia and her father, Odessa and a man who lingered by her side before taking a seat across from her. A familiar scent joined her side and Siv glanced over to Wisteria, gleaming and draped in a cloth garment likely made by her brother’s slave. The older woman looked pleased with herself, and the two settled next to each other with Wisteria closer to her daughter and Draugr beside Siv. Wisteria leaned over to her daughter and spoke in a hushed voice. “You look wonderful,” she praised, and glanced to Siv for confirmation. The younger witch-woman smiled, but said nothing. Still, this seemed to please the white she-wolf, who beamed across the table towards her brother.

Slavia had been busy with the prey creatures. Since the invasion of a mixed-pack group in the early First Month, and since the venture to the pack named for Japan (which caused more dislike within the Korean Jindo-wolf), the enslaved one had felt ‘closer’ to her master, Salvia. It was not a closeness that was felt with kin and family and friends. It was simply a cold loyalty that had been strengthened by Salvia’s given permissions and trust in the slave. And the shatter mind held onto that more strongly than the injustice that Slavia had done to her—the initial enslavement. This loyalty allowed the fighter to remain compliant and complacent—accepting, almost—of her status as ‘slave’. Had she been made a communal slave, such ‘loyalty’ may not have been allowed to blossom, and a different situation may have occurred. But such was the path of her fate. The Korean Jindo-Wolf, her life dedicated to the Taekwondo way of life, had ultimately become a slave. Fate was indeed strange.

Salvia made it known to the tenebrous slave that she required her slave to hunt. And the slave would. Having shifted to her natural shape, the Jindo-wolf had been prepared to depart to find her master sustenance, but she was made to pause by a call upon the air. Obsidian, horn-like auricles swiveled to hear it. The Boss of Salsola was calling again, just as he had the day after her day of birth. The black fae paused, turning her white orbs to Salvia. Her master already responded, her loyalty to the Boss truer and greater than any loyalty felt by the fighter. The black wolf found it strange to look upon, as if such emotions no longer were comprehendible to that shatter mind. It was as if she looked out upon the world through a window, a yet impenetrable glass separating her from them.

The enslaved one did not change her shape, but remained within the natural form. As a wolf, it was easier to remain submissive to the ranked members of Salsola. Her ears swiveled back and her tail remained lax as she followed at Salvia’s heels. The submissive posture was what the teacher Siv Helsi had demanded of her and other slaves, and for Salvia she complied.

Salvia was the first member to arrive. The white orbs lifted briefly to look upon the Boss and the Auxiliary. As a slave, the Korean was nothing, but she bowed her head respectfully nonetheless as she followed Salvia. She lingered behind at a respectful distance before following her Master seated aside the leader. The jindo wolf lay beside her seat, the sinew beneath her coat rippling as muscles contracted and relax. The dark, strong maw rested upon her paws, the golden ring glinting in the half light. Half-lidded, the lunar orbs watched as other members arrived. She recognized Siv Helsi, and the others she remembered from the prior gathering. But, as always, Salvia was the slave’s only concern. And she would remain there at Salvia’s side, laying in relaxed submission until her services were required.

I'm not sure where she should be sitting so I left it fairly vague.

She brushed back her long longs with the scent, letting it soak into the course hair along her face. She used only a slight dabbling of it, knowing how precious it was until the first lavender would begin to bloom in the territory. For now, she was using up the last of her saved oil. Though she had worn the same scent often enough, it was one she favored and she found herself not caring if anyone noted it. It was what marked her as who she was. How could Isabella protest that kind of advertising? And the King would be there, and she was sure he would react to her scent, even if it was hardly a public reaction. That was all she wanted.

For this supper, she had chosen a lighter dress of some filmy material that simply hung on her curves rather than hide them. The necklace Sirius had given her lay heavy around her neck. Absently, white fingers grazed the cold material as she walked from her home to the Supper. Her strides were easy; it was still early enough but not early enough that she would be the first one in attendance, hopefully. Her attire, strangely simple and unassuming, was more because of her mood of calm and the feelings of success in her chest.

Others had already arrived, and Isabella kept her look level as she gave a slightly formal bow of the head to the Auxilary and the Boss. Her eyes lingered briefly on the Thistle King, though she shifted it from him with practiced ease. As she sat herself down, she glanced at the other members present. Odessa had been holding onto a golden male, and it was easy enough to see their relationship. Isabella gave a small smile at the woman, remembering the reading she had given her. But they would not sit near her; they outranked her.

--

Though invisible to all, Itachi was currently in a transition. He did not wish to sit by this table tonight and eat with his people, but he was expected to be there. It was not a personal wish, for his desired companion was not present here. Wrapped in thoughts, he arrived to find an appropriate seat, though not before going through the formal greetings to his superiors. They were right to be displeased with him, he supposed. Gilded hues were cloaked in the black and red of his unique coat, even if the chill slowly but steadily had started to leak out of the evening ear as the young year matured into another spring.

Without words or glances to the rest of the present party, he sat down and half closed his sunset eyes. Hands gently folded in his lap. The blonde had no appetite to speak of, but he would feast together with the rest of Salsola. While others might take narcotics and alcohol, he would remain sober with water and the simplest of the dishes. Only briefly did he take the time to look over the present members.

The pack was growing, and there was one face in particular he had wondered if he would see again. But the man from the lands of sands and sun had revealed weakness to the Lykoi hybrid, and it had made him expect never to see him again. And he wasn’t even a slave. How fortunate for him. There was no desire to reveal that it was Imhotep that had been the man that had fled the borders the day when Itachi’s wolfish call had risen to catch the attention of his leaders. He had nothing he wanted to gain anyway. He only wanted to retire early to the night and return to the company of his Muse.

First two paragraphs = skippable. Miqui is with her.

Tlantli is by Alaine!

The flaxen coyote heard the call, and stiffened. Her room was cold, as it tended to be, and the woman was in her bed. She had not expected this call, though she knew what it meant and what waited for her. Frowning, the woman stood and peeked out of her window, standing on tiptoe to see out of it. Grunting, the woman flicked her tail in anxiety and strode back toward her bed, hovered there a moment, and abruptly turned and strode out of her door. She did not head immediately to the feast, however, but instead fetched her brother first.

Miqui frowned at her when she came toward him, and asked why she was not headed to the feast. I wanted to walk with you, the woman responded, snapping her Spanish at him quickly. She would not allow him to proceed her into the feast; it was not her wish to skulk behind him. She did wish to seat herself by him, however, and some small part of her balked at striding into the room completely alone. She would have to sit away from the space she'd occupied before, and this displeased her, but she would go nonetheless.

Turning on her heels, the woman strode back toward the ruins with her brother in tow, approaching the brightly lit place that served as their dinner hall. The woman did not hesitate, but peered at it with open dislike for a moment before composing her face. She bore an expression of forced indifference as she entered and walked -- slowly, but not so slowly she seemed hesitant -- toward the place near the end of the table, Miqui just behind her. The red-eyed coyote bore a smile on his face, greeting various canines with small nods here and there.

Tlantli slid into her seat and Miqui sat beside her, peering up toward the high place where Sirius and Eris sat, though of course, he kept his gaze away from their faces and therefore their eyes. Tlantli peered down at her own lap, sparing not a glance at anyone around her until she was sure she could meet their gazes. When she finally looked up, she saw herself seated just across from Isabella. Tlantli offered the woman a small smile, delighted to have selected a place where she would not feel terribly out of place..

Sirius by Nat

The drifted in, wastrels from the sea of fog that lingered beyond the circle of flames. Dark shapes that took form, that when born into the light became those he knew - The Family of the Thistle King. Larkspur and Salvia were the first to arrive, and his eyes glittered with pride at the feral young woman tailed by the dark four-legged shape of her slave. As always, her form seemed drawn towards him, and in a strange dance of ritual and adoration she neared enough to whisper words within his waiting ear, before melting back to the hulking side of her sire. Sirius' venomous eyes followed her, their deadly depths glowing thoughtfully. Foals were excellent news - They boded well for the coming spring. For some time, Salsola had seemed destined to an eternal winter, as the icy grip of Halifax strangled all that stood in it's shadow. But the end to the long cold darkness was drawing nearer, and such health within their livestock was a promising sign.

More came - The young girl and her older companion, each flushed with the presence of the other, their nearness filled with emotional weight. Sirius knew of their news, but he left such things to Eris, for she was a master over the ways of the heart and the soul. Magic and love;they eluded him, and always would, for he was a creature of the black soil and the real terrors of the night. One entered now. The dark witch was garbed in her otherworldly apparel, the exotic flavor of her appearance stirring thrills of wariness deep within the veins of the King. He trusted her art less than that of his Auxiliary, for Eris, at least, seemed well enough under his own spell to be controlled.

A scent curled about his black nose, and the King's attention moved from one dangerous woman to the next. The smell was one he knew well, and it tugged at an old heat deep within his belly. Dark pupils narrowed, and black lips twitched - Small signs to show that her message, intentional or not, had been received. The monarch allowed his gaze to feast on her succulent form only a moment longer, before control allowed him to lift his eyes free of the womanly curves they sought.

More came - Two golden forms, each gazed on with disfavor. Itachi held his attention only briefly, and a slight weight to the King's brow showed that the man had much ground yet to make in regaining the favor of his master. However, his presence seemed to dissuade the King's immediate annoyance; Acidic gaze glanced quickly about for an accompanying silver form, but found none. A note of this was stored away, to be retrieved and mulled over at a later date. Sharp olive moved over to the second golden form, smaller and more angular than the last, but rather than fix on the presence of the woman his gaze continued to slide over and past her, like liquid, as though she was not really there.

He waited a while more, allowing the small chatter to swell and ebb, allowing for each member to settle at the place the table dictated was theirs. The long wooden logs were brimming with food, cooked rare and blue. The scent of it was enough to pool his mouth with saliva, but there were pressing matters to be dealt with before the feast could begin.

One palm was lifted into the air, and Sirius waited a few beats for silence to fall. When he was satisfied with the amount of attention given, the monarch cleared his throat softly and began to speak, deep caramel voice oozing out above the silent viewers and the gentle crackling of the flames. "My beloved family, we come again to this place, and again, I've news to share with you," His tenor tones filled the circle, heavy with importance. Both hands rose to gesture to all those seated - In doing so, the bandage on his right fore-arm was again revealed, it's off-white hue blotted with a seepage of blood. "As undoubtedly you are all aware, our might was challenged at the time of the waning moon. Intruders came, and sought to take from us our way of life, our existence," His black lips peeled back in a snarl, yellowed teeth glittering with strings of saliva as true anger resonated in the man's tone. Suddenly, the snarl became a smile - Equally as wicked, equally as terrifying. "But they stood no chance against our strength. Against the wrath of the Family, they fell. And in their downfall, we must acknowledge the bravery and value of our brethren. This day, I praise the following: Isabella, now Family! Imhotep, now Family! Miqui, now Confidant! Odessa, now Confidant! And Salvia," His gaze glittered with a fierce pride at the young woman, "Now Arbiter!"

His voice rang clear and strong, the smile still cutting a sharp wickedness into handsomely dark features. He took a deep breath, allowing for silence to fall once more, before continuing. "And yet, the blessings continue. With the expansion of the barn and stables, we now have room for new livestock. I have been made aware that many of the horses have produced healthy offspring, as will the sheep. Our land has provided us with bounty once more, my Family - Winter is almost at an end!" Although they thrived in this harsh season, it would undoubtedly be welcome news to those without wolfish pelts that the cold was approaching it's gradual end.

The king's hands, previously painting gestures in the air as he spoke, fell now to his sides. Acidic eyes turned to gaze keenly at Eris, suggesting that she might now deliver the news she had undoubtedly accumulated. Only once the Auxiliary had spoken would those seated be allowed to sate their famished hungers on the meat provided.

Eris is by Kiri, a gift from Sylvey!

The dark colored woman watched the procession of her Salsolians. They filtered into the sacred place in pairs and alone, all of them seeming to glow with the energy that radiated from all of Salsola. The dark woman could see no colors in the world tonight -- she was sober as of yet, having taken nothing prior to this feast and having imbibed no liquor yet. She did not need her substances to sense such things as the Salsolian group's gathered power. Even one dead in their heart and soul could see it, she thought. The woman's eyes passed from one to another, and at one point, she became aware of a settling in the room, a slow drop in the volume of noise. When it was altogether silent, she looked at Sirius, no hint of expectancy on her face. The man spoke when he was ready, and she was not one to prompt him.

The strong and flowing speech of their Boss reached her ears, and she listened intently as he spoke, taking note of all he chose to announce to the group. The previous Last Supper had not been a good one for Eris, but this was understandable, given her state -- Basilaris had been born just the next night. His presence in her womb had been entirely unbeknownst to Eris prior to that point, and she had attributed her state to illness. Now, she was strong again, and Basilaris was growing. Everything about him was strength and beauty, and she could hardly wait to behold his adult glory.

When their leader had ceased speaking, the hybrid offered him a coy smile and inclined her head, silently thanking him for her turn to speak. Our dear Confidant Odessa has embarked on the construction of a medical clinic for us. Perhaps we'll hear an update from her on the project, she said, beaming toward her niece. For myself, I have been working on a special gift to Salsola, she said, her grin broadening. The river that makes our eastern border -- it has many creeks and streams. One of these, one well within our territory, now has a fishing weir. We'll have a plentiful and constant source of fish from now on. Should anyone wish to learn how to operate the netting and capture large amounts of fish at once, I can show you. Otherwise, the creek should be stocked with fish. The low tide traps them, and many will simply remain upstream.

When her self-inflating gloating was finished and she could natter no more about her own contribution, the woman began with the pack's jobs: We have many serving new roles within Salsola, as well. Odessa has bested us all, and earned the Mietitore job -- she is first to hold two. Siv has earned the right to call herself Signorina, and will serve us well. Salvia shall follow her father's lead and serve as our Ganadera. These were the important members of the pack, but there were still more: the slaves, while lesser, still needed their roles publicized. Salvia's attendant slave, Yi TaeKyung, serves us as the Slave of the Flame, while Odessa's slave, Novak Rubens, is now our Slave of the Thorn. The coyote thought a moment, and smiled again, nodding her head. Will anyone speak? she said, smiling. I believe Odessa has something other than the clinic to speak of. Or perhaps Imhotep would give us his voice, wonderfully-spiced as it is? The woman's chartreuse eyes glittered as she looked at one and then the other.

Word Count :: 304 ooo awkward Imhotep

Imhotep had never been one to actually speak infront of so many but he loved Odessa. She should not have to speak everything for him. After all he was a man who could speak for himself most days. wallowing his nerves as Eris spoke of him. She was right after all she said he should speak of this at the meeting.

Imhotep looked at Odessa and smiled. He loved her so much she was rather special to him. I can speak he said looking at her. then around the table. I have asked for Eris's blessing to take Odessa as my mate. He had to stop himself and take a breath his arabic laced tone hindered him as he picked up speed. Taking a calming breath he smiled. And Odessa has honored me greatly by saying yes. his words slow to get them right as he turned to look at Odessa again. I love you he said smiling.

Imhotep fell silent looking about the crowd. he had to admit he was still nervous that others of the pack would not be pleased with this. he feared his head may not be where it is now.

OOC sup bitches? / +yo numbah!

She smiled to her mother as the snow pelted woman complimented her, replying gently, 'Thanks you' before turning to listen to Sirius' words. Her thin lips curled upwards as news of her promotion came, as well as Imhotep own. She glanced over to him, with a proud smile on her mouth. Of course she knew it was no real feat of his own that got him promoted. Merely that he became mated to her, Odessa being a higher ranking member. But she assured herself that he'd prove himself in no time at all. Eris began to speak, and Odessa listened intently, knowing that as Sirius hadn't mention the clinic nor the co-ranks, that Eris may speak of them.

Odessa stood when prompted, glancing up and down the table before she spoke. 'Yes, the clinic. Thanks to all your help, the clinic is coming along swiftly. Particular thanks to Salvia, Tlantli and Miqui for collecting supplies, and Imhotep for assisting with the actual construction...' She sat down again, glancing up the table again to gauge everyone's reactions. Odessa continued to grin gently as news of her double co-rank was announced, and, unsurprisingly, the news of Novak's slave job. The Serb himself was absent from the meal, busy tending to Odessa's pets. The grey child's grin faulted when her aunt's glittering gaze was directed towards the mated pair she was apart of. Odessa glanced over to Immy, as almost sighed when he himself stood. Her eyes stayed on Imhotep, unable to move to anyone else, least of all her mother or cousin. As she sat down she smile at him and glance sheepishly up the table.
