Hotaru
Sometimes the light that guides us along our paths, is not something that we can see, but something deep inside of us.

Hotaru had no intentions of lashing out to Levent physically, she really just wanted to yell and scream her head off. She wasn't entirely angry at him, just mad at the world and how unfair it could be. If it were possible, she would rant to the heavens until they returned her sight, or at least knocked down a few trees. However, raving to some unknown gods that may or may not exist would do nothing, so Levent had been forced to bear the brunt of her anger.

All of a sudden, as if something clicked in his mind, Levent started spewing out apologies. His accented words were filled with emotion: sadness, sorrow, desire. Whatever it was, Hotaru knew he was sincere and finally understood his actions. His dense manner caught her off guard. He had actually been unable to figure out her impairment. Hotaru didn't know what to say, although she wished she had hands so she could slap him good across the head. In place of her hands, she simply shook her head at his stammering. "Don't be." It was all she said, it was the last thing she said for a long time. Both of the wolves walked in silence, only the occasional warning filled the silence and even then it didn't lift the crushing atmosphere.

At long last, they group reached familiar ground and Hotaru could finally place her location. They had crossed one of her hunting trails, her own scent filled her nose and a map formed in her mind. Even so, Hotaru said nothing and continued to follow Levent. Fortunately, a little life had returned to her steps and she held her head just a little higher. After what felt like forever, they reached the boarders of Cercatori d'Arte. Red ears perked and her light tail began to wag slowly. Gratefully she crossed the boarders and inhaled the packs scent. Hotaru's head turned to the side and her unseeing, amber eye faced Levent. "Thank you." Gratitude and sincerity flowed through her soft voice. There was no hint of her anger as a small smile crossed her face.

Hotaru continued on through the pack lands and a hawk's cry sped through the lands and furious wingbeats approached the timber wolf. Hotaru howled with joy as familiar claws landed on her back and her ears were bombarded with Fawkes's gentle nips and worried speech. Together, the pair returned to Thornbury where they both took well deserved naps.
