Apple and Blackberry Pie

Tick, Tick. There it was again, like every morning. Tick, Tick.
There was never a peaceful moment, Pip groaned from restless sleep and squinted his eyes from the bright morning light. He raised his arm and rubbed his tired eyes.
With another groan he lifted his weight up and leaned back against the back of his bed. He glared up at the ticking clock, Seven o'clock, early again. He turned to the side and saw the little wolf staring happily at him.

He smiled, "Morning Jill," He chuckled, "I'm guessing you're staring at me for a reason."
The little pup giggled with excitement and did a little dance around the floor, before slamming down on the bed and knocking the breath out of Pip.
"Come on Pip!" She giggled, "You promised we could go and adventure is it was sunny!" Pip looked out of his half-closed window, and the gap of light shining through. He sighed and looked back at his eager sister, "Well it is sunny" He said, and shuffled out of bed, "Come on, but have some breakfast first."

It was nearly impossible to get food into the child, because of all the cold and wet weather, Pip hadn't let Jill go out and venture for a while. So this day was making her hysterical. Pip had to rush to put his clothes before Jill before Jill could pull his arm off. But sooner than later they made it out into the forest.

It wasn’t long before Jill stopped running around in her own little fantasy world to notice something new. "Berries!" She called out to Pip, "Are they edible ones right?" She asked once Pip had reached her. She was right; they were edible berries, blackberries to be exact. Pip looked around, a little to the right was an apple tree. There weren't many apples on the tree because of the cold weather, but enough to pick.
"We could make a pie!" Jill said, and Pip noticed that she had also noticed the apple tree.

He chuckled at the little pup, she was clever than he thought. He reached over and pick up Jill, "You've got quite the sweet tooth haven't you?" He said a tickled Jill's tummy until she giggled. After she surrendered, he put her down and told her to pick as many berries as she could, he also gave her a little leather pouch to put the berries in. "I'll go and get some apples, don't wonder off now, just stick to that berry patch." He slowly walked up to the tree and picked a good few apples.

He looked over at the little she-wolf as she clambered around the berry bush, happy and free. Pip treasured moments like this.

Terra was hunting for the rare and elusive prey that was so rare and always managed to somehow escape her. Blackberries. Since eating them at the festival Terra couldn't get enough of the goodies. Lucky as she was Terra had caught the scent of the berries, and was now running as fast as she could towards the patch. Not paying attention Terra didn't notice that there was a pup between her and the berries. Grabbing a mouthful from the bush Terra danced back, panting from the sharp scratches of the bush in her mouth.

Deciding it would be easier to get past the bush's defenses if she had hands Terra proceeded to shift. Long red hair fell down her back, toes stretching into fingers while her spine shifted to force her onto two legs. Standing now Terra grabbed another handful greedily, this time noticing the wolf standing a short distance away. Her ears flattened in embarrassment at her rude manner before straightening up, her cocky attitude fully prepared to help her get out of this situation. Hello.

Jill was the first to notice the stranger wolf race towards the berry bush, and let out a little squeal of surprise and step back. At first she fought the wolf was aiming to bite Jill, so she quickly ran back to Pip and clutched onto his leg.

Confused at first on why his sister was frightened, Pip stroked her soft head to calm her. "What's up? Some evil goblin scaring you?" Pip didn't mind his sister’s fantasies, and sometimes like to interact with them, if it pleases his sister, he'd make up stories too to make her life more adventurous. Jill shock her head and pointed at the stranger wolf that was in the middle of a shift.

Pip's eyes widened at the sight of a stranger, and pushed Jill behind him for safety. After Jill got over her fearful surprise, she also looked at the wolf, "That wolf is taking our berries!" She stated, and pounced towards the wolf. "Jill-" Pip tried to stop his little sister but was too late to catch her before she rammed into the wolf’s leg. To the wolf, such a little pup hitting her would feel like a small tap.

"Jill!" Pip yelled at his sister, and ran up to her, grabbing her by the cuff of her neck and holding her between one arm. "Sorry about her, she's not one to share." He said to the stranger. After Jill's little struggle in his arm, he set her down and growled at her to continue playing around while he talked.

He turned back to the stranger and smiled, he normally wouldn't talk much to a new wolf, but he promised his sister not to be so protective just for today. So for now he was willing to trust new strangers.
He relaxed and put his hands into his jacket pockets, "We're making an Apple and blackberry pie," He said to the she-wolf, "The weather hasn't be great for a while so I promised my little sister we could go out and play." Pip gazed down at the handful of berries in the strangers hands, "And I'm guessing you came here for the blackberries?"

Terra lit up with laughter as the pup announced she was taking their berries. Deliberately she took another handful and popped it into her mouth. The pup charged over, tackling her leg. Luckily it wasn't the leg that had been broken, as that one was still fairly sensitive to the touch. It was healed enough for her to walk on, but hitting it was painful. The pup was grabbed, Terra learning her name was Jill, before being tucked away. Tail swishing she grinned politely. That's alright. I'm not too big on sharing either. A strange thing, but Terra was very possessive over what was hers, despite her liberal behavior with everyone else's belongings.

Her head cocked with confusion as she was told they were making pie. She had no idea what that was, but it seemed to be a form of cooking of some sort. Terra nodded her head at his words. Of course. They're hard to find. At least, they were where I came from. This region seems to have a lot more luckily. With that Terra popped the remaining berries in her mouth. Eyes closed she savored the flavor before grabbing some more and holding them out to him.

Pip nodded with agreement of the she-wolf's words, "It must have been the weather we've had, all that rain water must have done the bush some good." He carefully took the berries from the wolf's hands and popped them in his mouth; he'd only tasted blackberries once before, during last spring and had almost forgotten their taste. He swallowed them happily and licked his lips clean of their juice.

This stranger had proven to be trusting enough, "I'm Pip" Pip said, bowing his head slightly.
"And I'm Jill!" Yelled the little wolf from behind Pip's legs, she'd clearly been standing there since Pip put her down, disobeying his order to go off and play. Jill turned up to Pip and flopped her ears down, "When are we making our pie?" She asked impatiently.

Pip rolled his eyes at his sister interruption and impatience, "Tonight, we're exploring right now aren't we?" He tried to say softly, "Now go pick some more berries, but leave some for the kind stranger." Jill nodded and turned to the bush, picking some berries and placing them carefully in her leather pouch. After she felt like she had enough in her pouch, she picked some more blackberries and held them out to the stranger, with a friendly grin on her face.

Terra didn't know much about the weather in the region, as this was her first year in the area. Tilting her head she nodded. It definitely got a lot more rain here than the dry lands she was used to living in. That would help the bush give more berries. Didn't make it any less difficult to feed from, unfortunately. The offered berries were accepted, and Terra drew back her hand to grab some more. Happily she munched on them, tasting the juices on her tongue. Her eyes slid over at the introduction, earning a smile from her. Luna. Again her ears pricked at the mention of pie, not understanding what it was.

She stifled a laugh at the small exchange, watching with pleasure as the small child flitted back over to the bush, impatient to collect the berries needed for the pie. Terra continued to groom the bush, occasionally using her skill at removing and placing things undetected to add berries to the small pouch Jill wore. None would catch her unless they were trained to detect such movement, making Jill simply appear very successful. A small handful was held out to her, which Terra greedily grabbed and swallowed. Licking her lips Terra proceeded to clean her hands, done with the berries for now.
