[/html]Engelmann snorted. He was a calm pony, and when he spoke up Anu turned to listen. She and Alder had been tapping the trees while waiting for the sap to run, and Anu had brought the pony along to cart the sap back to the pack lands for boiling. It was the longest the wolfess had been away from the lands of Crimson Dreams for quite some time, and she was glad that her Courtier son had been able to join her. His strong arms were quite helpful.
Anu took the roped from the red spotted stallion, allowing him to roam and find water and sustenance as he saw fit. He never roamed too far, and the gray female felt it right to give the hard working and obedient creature a rest. They needed to collect the sap, chase after rusty handled buckets and make sure the iron spouts were still flowing. She began a small trek through the wood, alone as Alder was doing the same in the opposite direction.
It was a time and energy consuming task, but Anu found the silence of the hardwood forest soothing and restful. Another bucket could be seen in the distance, and she walked softly through the dapple sunlight that shown through the thin and leafless branches.

herpderp! Now that she was free of her prisoner, Sage was able to move around again. It had been too long since she'd left the confines of the pack, and the open fields and forests below the mountain were calling to her. It was early morning when she'd left, after making sure all of the animals were fed and watered, and their pens clean enough. Lennon's back was more comfortably now than ever as she rode down the mountain, lighting up a fat, hand-rolled joint as she went. She had smoked less while she'd had watch of the captive, and the high felt splendid now. A few hours of light travel found her in a familiar forest. The Dampwoods, she thought, skirting carefully around Inferni. Sage was still wary of Ezekiel, despite Max's friendly demeanor outside of the pack. Farther south she went, until she found another wood, a denser wood with thicker trees. She recognized these as maple, and as she moved Lennon through them, her nose noticed the sweet scent. Sap, she knew. Sage wondered if someone was taking advantage of the long-abandoned human tools. She'd tasted some of the sap before, but it wasn't all that good. She supposed there was a process to it, but it was nothing that she knew. Other scents hit her nose as she traveled, and it wasn't long before a silver-grey shape could be seen in the distance, half-hidden by the brush. She thought she recognized part of that scent, but she couldn't place it. Curious, the tawny coyote approached, lighting another joint and blowing smoke from her lungs as she went. The wolf became visible soon, and Sage called out gently through a cupped hand. "Hello over there!" She moved closer, and swung down from Lennon's back, for courteous greeting. "Sapping the trees, are you?" she asked the pretty grey, smiling meekly as she took another long drag. The weed had done well to calm her nerves, and she felt almost stable enough to have a good chat. Maybe the grey woman would abide. .sage-field {margin:0 auto; width:475px; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/TydOF.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding: 0px 0px 125px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; line-height:14px; text-align:justify;} .sage-field p.ooc {font-style:italic; text-align:justify; text-indent:0px; padding:0px 5px;} .sage-field p {text-indent: 25px; margin:0px; padding:5px 5px;} .sage-field b {color:#919919; letter-spacing:-.2px; } </style>

i'm so sorry ; ; Sage's smile broadened when the lady returned a friendly answer. She didn't know if she could handle much more hostility. Pleased, she moved forward, peering at the trees and the buckets she carried, wondering how much she'd found. The idea of maple syrup sounded pleasant and tasty, and her mouth watered as she imagined its sweetness. She didn't know what it tasted like, truly, but maybe soon she would. "I haven't," she replied, shaking her head softly. "How does it work?" Curiously, she sidled beside the woman, wide amber eyes appraising the tools. One was a rusted hunk of metal shoved into the trunk of the tall maple, and the other a simple bucket beneath, catching its drippings. It seems easy enough, she thought. Glancing up at the canopy of leaves above, Sage wondered if the trees mourned the loss of their sap. .sage-field {margin:0 auto; width:475px; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/TydOF.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding: 0px 0px 125px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; line-height:14px; text-align:justify;} .sage-field p.ooc {font-style:italic; text-align:justify; text-indent:0px; padding:0px 5px;} .sage-field p {text-indent: 25px; margin:0px; padding:5px 5px;} .sage-field b {color:#919919; letter-spacing:-.2px; } </style>

<3 Sage listened, nodding and mumbling interested noises. The process of collecting the sap seemed easy enough, but the tawny coyote wondered still how to create the tasty final product. "That part doesn't sound so hard," she mused with a smile as she followed the older, sandy-grey woman to the next tree. This bucket was not very full, Sage noticed as she peered in, but it was taken anyway as the stranger gave her name. Crimson Dreams, she remembered, where Barry used to live... Sage wondered why he'd left. "Lovely to meet you, Anu," Sage said airily, the lingering effects of the smoke slowing her words to a lazy, dreamy tone. "My name is Sage River Lykoi. Ichika is my home," she added in reply. "I have a friend who used to live in Crimson Dreams. Maybe you know him; he's called Barrett." Her first memory of the dark, handsome wolf was a happy one. They'd smoked together at the top of a scenic hill just outside of the packlands, watching the sunset. She'd been intoxicated by his charm, and he hadn't objected. It had been wonderful; it was a type of freedom she found herself searching for again. .sage-field {margin:0 auto; width:475px; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/TydOF.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding: 0px 0px 125px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; line-height:14px; text-align:justify;} .sage-field p.ooc {font-style:italic; text-align:justify; text-indent:0px; padding:0px 5px;} .sage-field p {text-indent: 25px; margin:0px; padding:5px 5px;} .sage-field b {color:#919919; letter-spacing:-.2px; } </style> |
