Dredging up the past

18th, after the Wolves and the Bees.

Neela finally understood how people felt when they uttered the phrase "Today just can’t get any worse." Depressed, tired, covered in scents and smells that made her even worse but to tired and apathetic to clean herself up; Neela was in a fairly bad way at the moment and now because of Dalgina she felt even worse.

While the puppy didn’t mean badly she had made Neela's situation that day much worse. The almost painfully awkward and embarrassing conversation between the two hadn't done anything to improve Neela's mood, quite the opposite in-fact. The puppy had also drug up fears that Neela hadn’t even considered before.

Pregnant. The thought that her encounter, for that was all she could bring herself to call it, with Tony might have gotten her pregnant hadn’t occurred to Neela at all; her mind refusing to even consider the possibility until Dalgina had brought it up. Now that it had been planted into her head though, Neela couldn’t stop agonising over the possibility.

Neela had finally been driven out of the house by Grynn and had headed north, situating herself in a small clearing about a mile downriver from her pier. Skylar and Marahute had come with her, the large, dark coloured chick clinging to one shoulder and crooning comfortingly in Neela's ear while Marahute circled restlessly overhead, almost indistinguishable from Grynn if not for her smaller size. Grynn and Oonu were nowhere to be seen but from the calls she had heard echoing over the lands, Neela's brain had absently figured they had gone hunting.

Neela trailed her front paws in the river and gazed at her reflection in the running water, lost in her thoughts and oblivious to the gentle sounds of the two birds around her. There were many things on her mind at the moment, but most of them boiled down to one thing:

How could everything have gone so wrong in just one day?

Discontentment bred like the sorrow within her soul, all consuming and unstoppable. The whole situation made her want to scream until her voice gave out. The restoration of her Prestige rank (She refused outright to call herself a Shepherd) that had actually never been removed in the first place although no body had bothered to let Jace know that, had done little to ease the thoughts that ran rampant around her mind. She was unhappy, very much so and it showed in her body language. Her injured arm that was healing quickly was still kept within its hastily made sling, close to her chest where it would cause her the least amount of pain while she walked.

And walk she did, over the course of the morning hours Jace covered the entire circumference of Ichika's borders three times and then had turned her travel inwards, making her way through the many valleys and hills until she had reached the point she was at now. Her face and position of her tail and ears showed she was really in no mood to talk to anyone about anything, and she growled softly as she walked. Such inward facing anger she felt that the warrior mother missed the hunting calls of the falcons with which she was modestly acquainted as well as completely failing to recognize the scent of one of her friends that was nearby.

Primary amongst the emotions that swirled around her heart and least prominently displayed on her visage was fear. All encompassing fear that had her heart pounding and set her teeth on edge. They had tangled with Salsola and now bad blood existed between the two of them. She had no doubt that every whisper of Salsola's reputation was true and now she feared for her family's lives. The wolfdog knew in her heart and mind what needed to be done.
