Once again the world had become bright and the colors had returned to her. Hotaru stood in a beautiful field and all around here were flowers of every color. The same familiar rainbow spanned the sky and twinkled in the sun. She knew this place, she had dreamed about it before. Hotaru turned around, knowing that her brother would be standing there and waiting for her. She had seen the same scene play out in her dreams over and over again. He would do the same thing as he had done the previous nights, he would hug her and apologize. Hotaru smiled and ran into his arms, knowing full well that it was a dream and how much it would hurt her when she woke up.

Just as before, his strong arms held her in a soft embrace. It was as if all was right with the world, until pain shot through her back. Adrian withdrew a bloody knife from behind her and a wicked smile crossed his face. His arms released her and she fell back into the eternal darkness.

Hotaru awoke with a start. The surface beneath her was hard and cold. She had fallen out of her bed and onto the wooded floor. Fawkes's wings ruffled closed to her head and a soft coo filled her ears. Hotaru reached up and stroked the birds head. This time, she wasn't sure how to take her dream. She stood on shaky limbs and grabbed her walking staff. The blind wolf hurried out of the house with Fawkes flying behind her. As she moved through Thornbury he glided from house to house. When the entered the woods, Fawkes moved from tree to tree. All the while, Hotaru walked as quickly as she dared to go on shaky limbs.

It wasn't long before the pair had passed the boarder and were surrounded by the Ethereal Eclipse. The grey female knew the forest like the back of her hand. She had traveled its paths many times and had even managed to successfully hunt within its confines on multiple occasions. Hotaru traveled down a well worn path until she reached one of the few places were the trees were broken. Her hand rested on a large glacial rock formation, its rough body warm to the touch. Hotaru gave her walking staff to the red-tailed hawk before she began to scale the rock face. The formation wasn't particularly tall or challenging, and soon the blind female was basking in the morning sun.

Fawkes deposited the long staff next to his master before he moved to a nearby tree. He studied her for several long moments, the signs of distress clear in her unseeing eyes. She sat crossed legged with one arm across her chest and the other propped against her paw. Her finger's lightly touched her lips as her head bowed towards her chest. It was a position Fawkes had often seen Hotaru take and he knew she could remain in that position for hours on end. Even so, Fawkes continued to observed her to make sure that there was no danger of her rushing off or of her being upset to the point of hysterics. When he was satisfied that she was going to be alright he set off to find them both some breakfast.

Adrian let out a yawn as he stretched himself out. It wasn't quite morning yet, but he liked to get himself up a bit earlier from time to time. As he stretched himself out, he noted how he had sunk down into the sand a bit during the night. He chuckled to himself about it, amazed that he just didn't sink in completely - despite how light his frame was. With another yawn and a stretch, he was up and trotting down the beach along the water's edge, allowing the iciness to wake him up a bit more. Rather than stick to visiting packs today, he decided to explore more inland and move away from the familiarity of the ocean and see what he could dig up. Adrian wasn't much of an explorer by nature, but his sister had been and had always dragged him along with her. Yawning once more, he hoped that it was out of his system as he continued inland. It would be dreadfully rude should he run across another and begin yawning in their face. He shook it off and stopped for a moment, looking up ahead of himself where he could see the sun starting to peak over the horizon on the other side of the trees.
So now, he took a few brief moments to watch the sun come up and illuminate the sky. It was a beautiful sight and he enjoyed it, allowing it to help almost clear his mind. He hadn't slept well the night before, so the serene moment helped him to relax. The slender male was still a bit tense, as he had gone through his same nightmare's again. It never got any easier, with each passing night. It was only on occasion that he wouldn't suffer a great deal in the night from the dreams. Adrian shook these musings off however and refocused on the sunrise, taking in a deep breath and allowing a smile to form on his lips. Said smile soon faded, though, as his ears flicked about his head. The sounds of something else nearby caught his attention and Adrian couldn't quite pick up where it was coming from - or had come from. While that might frustrate any other wolf, he wasn't bothered by it and simply waited, silently looking around for the source of the sound. He raised his mug up a bit toward the sky and inhaled rather deeply. Sure enough, it was another wolf and they were close. Then another smell perk elated in his senses and Angra's smile returned. It was water. He trotted forward to the source of both smells, stopping just as he could see the figure in the distance.

He stopped and watched what his senses told him was a she-wolf. She was sitting down and Adrian titled his head as he watched her, curious as to what she was doing. He wasn't one to judge so quickly though and approached slowly, afraid of scaring the other, and that was the last thing he wanted to do. He didn't seem to notice or pay attention to this as he came up to the side of the gray and tan colored female. He stopped several feet away, minding personal space and studied her for a short few moments. She didn't seem overly young, so Adrian assumed she was his age, or at least close to. His attention came next to her pelt, which was an interesting mix of colors, but he really wasn't one to talk as far as interestingly colored pelts went- but the strange thing was, she looked exactly like him. When a fair amount of time passed, Adrian figured it was time to say something. "I am sure that you could find a better place to rest than this?" His words were soft as he took a deep breath, catching in her scent that she was from a pack. He decided to observe this as well, "Especially if you are by yourself" and than he smirked his traditional smirk.

Hotaru wasn't always so distracted, but after her dream she couldn't help but block the world out. As the blind female settled down onto the glacial boulder her mind ran around in circles. Once again, she took to her thinking position. She could sit in that position for hours on end, and almost always took to the pose when she was upset or distressed. It was a habit she had picked up from their uncle, whom she adored. He had taught her how to carve and after spending hours with him in his workshop, she had picked up several of his habits. However, her love for her uncle could never top the co-dependent relationship she had with her brother.

The grey female was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the presence of another wolf. Her mind worked over the dream she had the night before and all of its renditions in the past. In all of her previous versions she had been greeted with a beautiful scene and a kindly brother. However, in her most recent dream he had killed her. Her reddish tail twitched in fruition as a flurry of emotions flooded the femme. She wasn't sure how to react to the dream. In many ways, his actions were accurate and predictable and the dream had a calming affect on her nerves. He had betrayed their family, killed their father, and caused her to go blind. On the other hand, it was upsetting to see something so close to reality in her dreams.

When the all too familiar voice floated up Hotaru's entire body froze. It was like a bucket of cold water had been suddenly poured over her. Her ears flew up and her tail stood erect while her heckles raised. Slowly she turned and disbelief filled her delicate features. Her unseeing eyes moved in their sockets as if the motion would somehow allow her to see again. Her nose worked wildly to pick up his scent, but all that came was the earthy scent of a loner. When his next statement came rage boiled up and her lips peeled back into a snarl while her ears flattened against her head. She could practically hear the smirk on his face.

"You..." Her voice came out as no more than a whisper, but it was filled with all the fiery rage she held for her twin brother. Hotaru's dexterous hands ran swiftly across the rock formation as she searched for something usable. One paw touched a rock, while the other landed on her staff. Both of these she threw in his direction as and angry snarl flew from her lips. "How dare you come here and talk to me! You are nothing but a vile traitor. Go rot in a ditch somewhere so that I will never have to hear your sick voice again you turncoat! " Tears streamed down her face as her words erupted from her mouth. Quickly she moved towards the edge of the formation and without a second thought she jumped down. When the earth came crashing beneath her, she lost her footing and landed heavily on the ground. The grey wolf yelped as pain shot through her wrist and legs. Instinct had thrown her arms forward and the landing had scraped the skin and fur off her knees.

With her backstabbing brother somewhere close by, Hotaru didn't dare take the time to inspect her wounds or be kind to her body. She scrambled to her feet as a frightening growl emanated from her throat. With her tail, ears, claws, and heckles raised she was ready to take him; even if she was blind and injured.

It was weird he barely knew this female and yet he felt trust. Not any sort of trust he had felt before but it was as if he could tell her about his past and nothing would go wrong. Flicking his tail left and right as the thought about trusting this female floated around his head like a leaf falling. Than he remember. Memories came rushing back to him that he took a few steps back. Hotaru. This was his twin sister. The one he had hurt all those moons ago. He looked at her and shook his head. She than threw a rock and a staff and him- the rock grazing his skin. He looked down an sighed. "Hotaru...." He walked towards her but she had jumped down. He followed her. He looked at her, his gaze filled with the memories of them. "Hotaru... I am sorry. Go ahead and call me whatever you wish, but I am truly sorry. Nothing will change that. I did what I had to do to save both of us. Father.....he was crazy with power. He would of taken over...I was crazy back than to. I was filled with rage."

Her long awaited reunion hadn't started like she expected it would. Truthfully, she didn't really know what to expect from her brother. She didn't know whether to expect an apology or violence. In fact, she didn't think they would ever meet again. Yet their they were, the Kido twins reunited, and it was awful. Horrid memories flooded back into her mind and she vigorously shook her head to get rid of them. She needed to focus, to concentrate on the male before her. He was a threat, he was...he was... He was lying!

White fangs appeared from behind her black lips and a fierce growl accompanied her display. Red ears twitched as Adrian stepped closer to her. "Your lying!" She spat. "Father was kind and gentle, and you killed him! Murder!" In reality, Hotaru knew little about the reasons behind the war. Their father had told her to fight, so she learned how to fight. She had always assumed it was the other packs fault. She had always believed that her family could do no wrong, just like any normal kid. Yet, her world had died around her and she blamed her brother for everything. He was in the wrong, he just had to be.

White, hot anger flowed trough her mind and engulfed her consciousness. The grey female yelled as she charged at Adrian. Her claws were poised and ready to rip through flesh. But her way was concealed and she tripped over a tree root. A surprised and pained yip escaped her jaws as her arms flailed helplessly in the air. Her outstretched hands searched for anything to grab onto to stop her fall.

Though he was enthused to be with her he couldn't help but feel on edge, draining some if not all of his enjoyment from the meeting. He was going to do his best not to let his paranoia get in the way of things but still, old habits die hard. He was glad to see that she was okay and, though she hated him, he couldn't help but wish there father was here. He could tell her the things that he only told him. He wasn't going to give up so easily. What would anyone think of him if he did?

"HOTARU!" He yelled as she charged at him and started to fall. He moved quickly to catch his sister and as he did, he sat her gently on the ground and backed away again in case she were to attack him. Adrian smiled to himself about catching her and sighed. He needed to prove to her that he was telling the truth.

It had been so long since she had heard his voice, and although his scent was that of a stranger, his words rang with a familiar tone that made her want to cry. He had to be lying; he just had to be. Hotaru couldn't believe that her father had done something despicable. She had tried so hard to make but a single villain in her world, even if the villain was her twin. Yet, she knew he wasn't lying. His words were genuine; what's more, he was her twin. Most of her wanted him to be lying, but some small part desired to believe his words. When they were young, he was her world. She was dependent on him, and was proud that he was her brother. There was a large part of her that desired to return to those days, but her loyalty to her farther was preventing them from returning.

Adrian's voice rang out as she fell, his lithe body moved in to catch. It was like her dreams, she had fallen into his arms and tears began to stream down her face. Hotaru was about to push him away, but he moved before her fingers could touch his body. A growl erupted from her throat, as her ears lay pinned against her head. She didn't even attempt to make it seem like she was looking at him. Her blind eyes simply stared out into the darkness while her cold voice split the air. "You are a liar and a thief. You took my family, my eyes. What business do you have being here? Are you here to steal my happiness again, my family?"

Fawkes was sure he hadn't been gone long. Yet when he returned with a rabbit clutched in his talons, there was Hotaru, sitting on the ground and bleeding from her knees. Standing above her was Adrian. An angered scream came from his beak as he dived towards the wolf's head. Just before impact, the red-tailed hawk swooped up and dropped his catch next to Hotaru. A whistle from Hotaru sent the bird reluctantly after her walking staff. He grabbed in quickly in his talons and returned to her side. His large wings spread wide in the air as his sharp beak was displayed menacingly.
