Learning Consequences

OOC : Back-dated to March 16th. Someone's in trouble. Tongue / 750

It had been a few days since the pack meeting, and Severus was wandering again. Since Alaki’s speech, the brat prince had kept mostly to nosing around the various construction projects. He wasn’t exactly looking to help, though he would do the occasional thing an elder asked him provided it seemed interesting enough a task. The young de Angelo was easily bored, and sometimes he’d get halfway through one of the tasks then suddenly drop whatever he was doing and wander off again. His mind was a constant whirl, always trying to figure out what the other wolves thought of him and if they considered him just as wonderful as he considered himself.

After a morning of puttering around the village and poking his nose into the newly constructed stables, he realized he was getting bored. There was only so much entertainment a young boy could gain from terrorizing the horses and other livestock in his Lupus form. With a great shake that started from his nose and went to the tip of his bushy tail he shook the straw and dirt from his pelt and started towards the woods. As he was walking, he shifted easily into his favorite Secui form and made his way just across the pack borders. His paws easily worked over the rocky terrain, and his practiced balance insured that he wouldn’t lose his footing even while picking his way along a path down the Halcyon Mountain.

As he reached the tree-line, the little prince vaguely remembered the bear cub he’d been tormenting before he heard Alaki’s howl. Tipping his over-sized snout into the air and tasting the scents on the wind, Severus was quickly able to detect the same bear scent. The family hadn’t moved, which meant the cub would still be there for him to tease. His young mind didn’t think of the consequences of playing with a bear cub, so when he found the little squirmy ball he bent down into a play-bow before bouncing around the cub in the grass, growling and snapping. To him, it was great fun, but the poor little cub was scared shitless and called for his mama.

It took no time for the hulking black bear to make her way down an adjacent tree. The roar she let out shook the clearing, and caused the brat prince to instantly whirl around. His silver eyes took in the sight of the female bear as it raised itself onto its hind legs and swiped a paw at him. In his Secui form, he was larger than a normal wolf, but still not so large that the bear was intimidated by him. He was still young and growing, after all. That youth did him in when he snarled towards the mother and took another snap at the cub, intent to ignore its guardian’s infuriated roaring. The new game didn’t last, because as soon as he let out a growl towards the cub the mother was on all fours and charging him, causing him to yelp out in surprise.

Fear finally sunk in, and as soon as the mother got within snapping distance Severus took off towards the pack lands. His large paws dug into the dirt and propelled him forward, but the bear was still close behind. There had to be hunters and warriors on the borders ready to protect him, especially since he was the son of their Angela. The moment he started to climb back up the mountain, he realized that he was at a disadvantage. Even though he was used to the trails, the bear was made for climbing where he was not. Not even his Optime form could move as fast as this enraged mother could. Desperately, Severus tipped his head and howled in alarm.

Help! Help me! the howl cried, calling for all the stronger canines of Anathema to come to the rescue of their prince. Severus felt entitled to that protection, and it didn’t even cross his mind that there could be consequences. The bear might kill him, or harm one of his pack mates. Even worse would be the lecture he’d undoubtedly receive once the pack learned that the whole ordeal was due to his pestering the bear’s cub. No, Severus didn’t think of that at all. All he knew was that he’d be protected, maybe not even questioned, and that he had to get away from this bear and into the safety of the caverns now.

OOC: Help and diversion Smile

IC: Ayasha had taken to practicing with her knives, how to move with them and such, outside in the practice area. She usually was alone in this but she did enjoy sparring with a partner whenever she could. She made note to invite Liam out here to practice with her sometime soon. It would be good for him to do so and he could be assured that she could take care of herself, though she was pretty sure that he knew that she could take of herself.

Right now she was practicing throwing knives. She had never learned how to even shoot with a bow and arrow and yet here she was, trying to teach herself to throw knives. She didn’t use her own nice ones. Instead she tried with some old ones lying around. Trying being the operative word. Let’s just say that she wasn’t doing it all that well. OK, she was still pretty awful at it. Her knives were nowhere near on target. She was about to give up when she heard the cry of what sounded like a young wolf.

She dropped the blades she was working with and started to run towards the source of the sound. Her blood ran cold as she smelled bears as she neared. What she came upon was one of the Angela’s sons running away from an angry bear. Ayasha didn’t even think as she threw a knife at the bear, the blade nicking its side and causing its attention to be thrown on her and away from the pup. It charged at her and she ran away from the child, yelling ”Get some help!” If the bear caught her then it would not end well for her.

OOC :: Yes, Lillith is a snarky little bish. WC :: 444

This was the farthest she had ever gone before, much farther than the stables or caverns. She was tiptoeing along, at a jaunty gait. The ravens call seemed to be constantly at her back, and every time she turned they quieted. It seemed they truly were following her, alighted from the tree tops just as she would get out of sight. And then there was that pesky Skrak, the head raven, who was constantly calling out, "Fox wolf, fox wolf!" It was annoying, and Lillith made to raise black lips over stark white teeth in annoyance.

She was about to return to the den just to be rid of her living shadows when a nearby call rang out. Tufted ears perked in its direction and the stalking group of ravens took flight towards the sound to see what was going on, crying out in various words that were unrecognizable. Curiosity sparked within her own mind and she followed the birds’ shadows at full sprint. Their shadows left her in the dust, but soon she was upon them once more, and she could distinctly hear them crying out, "Bear, bear, bear!" She paused, thinking perhaps she should turn away if there was a bear involved, but suddenly the realization that it might be a black bear urged her forward.

It seemed she was not the only one to come to the call, and when she finally did arrive just to see what all the hullabaloo was there was a young male wolf cowering and an adult white wolf facing off against a charging bear. Lillith was half tempted to sit and watch the show, but as she neared she heard Skrak call out, "Danger, defend!" and the ravens came forth from the tree, each in turn dive bombing the bear who, in the face of the onslaught of beaks and talons, as well as a full grown wolf to contend, finally backed off and moved away.

Lillith bounced in place, greatly amused at what she had just witnessed, and came running forward to the male. The white woman did not interest her yet, "Wow! That bear was real scary!" Lillith said to the boy, who obviously was older than her, seeing as he was in Secui. Still, she found him to be quite cute, even in his fearful state. She pawed at him playfully, before giving him a sultry grin. Then turning to the white woman, "Good thing I showed up with the ravens, huh?" She grinned proudly, even though she knew for a fact she had done nothing at all. Still, she felt that she had to assert herself in front of the boy.

OOC Thanks for joining guys! Big Grin / 430

As soon as the alabaster female arrived on the scene, Severus immediately felt better. The blade whizzed past his own grey head and stuck the bear in the side. His paws did not slow until he made it past the woman, and could turn around to see that the bear’s attention was diverted. Then, he realized that he was the man here. While he was young, he couldn’t very well let a woman fight his battles for him. A snarl broke from his muzzle, directed at the bear instead of at Ayasha, and he lifted a paw to start towards the bear and chase it off on his own.

That was when a great whoosh of feathers could be heard. Not being a fan of birds, the prince ducked down to the ground immediately and bunkered in his Secui form, watching as the ravens tore and pecked at the bear. With an enraged roar, the black beast turned and ran back for the tree cover to find her cub again. Once the bear was gone, the birds seemed to leave well enough alone and return back to the trees – then another voice cut through the scene.

Turning, Severus saw the female pup that looked an awful lot like a fox. His silver eyes took her in, and he was torn between indignation and amusement when she claimed that she took care of the bear. He was going to make some comment about how he had really taken care of it, but then his gaze shifted to Ayasha. The woman was older than him, and higher ranking, which caused his cockiness to crumble just a little bit. He cleared his throat after a silence hung over the trio, then picked at the ground with one of his huge paws for a minute.

“So, ladies…” he began, mischievous eyes glinting. If he changed the topic immediately, maybe no one would question why the bear had shown up and he wouldn’t get his ass kicked by his mother. “Lovely day, isn’t it?” A smirk curled on his muzzle before he turned to Ayasha, nodding towards the knife which now rested close to his paws. “Some pretty handy skills there and yeah…squirt…good job with the birds.” He didn’t particularly like that the little thing was acting so cocky in front of him. She was obviously way younger than him, and he didn’t even flinch as her tiny paw swiped at his grey side. Instead, he let out a scoff that could pass off as playfulness, and gave her a little push with one of his over-sized paws.

Ayasha could hear and feel and smell the angry mama bear charging after her, close on her heels. She was glad that she was fast but she wasn’t that fast nor did she have the stamina to keep up her pace. Though she could feel something course through her veins, a thing could adrenaline, which somehow kept her ahead of the bear.

Of course even the adrenaline was wearing off and the bear snapped at her feet, barely missing her, as she dived forward to avoid them. Then all the sudden she heard the cawing from the crows and then saw many of them swoop down and attack the bear, which Ayasha took as her cue to get out of the way. She scrambled and headed towards the pups, keeping herself between the two of them and the bear. But the bear quickly left, followed by the crows.

Ayasha heard the Angela’s boy speak and he seemed to want to avoid telling them about what happened. She could only assume that that meant he had done something either bad, stupid, or both. Plus, he had one of her good knives. Ayasha thought of something that would please both parties. ”Hi, my name is Ayasha and that is my knife. Can I have it back?” She did glance at the younger girl and had to wonder whose pup she was. But her introduction to the leader’s son also worked for the red and white girl. She was pretty sure that he was trying to flirt with the little girl and she gave a small smile and a bit of eye roll at his words.

"Squirt?!" Lillith cried out, her voice full of indignation, "I’m sorry, who was the one just cowering on the ground like a little new-born, waiting to be saved? Oh yes, you." How dare he! He could not be that much older than her, what gave him the right to speak to her in such a way? What a complete jerk. She snuffed and put her nose in the air as he swiped at her, and trotted away from him; pity, she thought he would have been worth her time but she had absolutely no patience for losers.

Instead, she turned her attention to Ayasha, the white woman who had just introduced herself; she was young too, though obviously and adult, "Hi, I’m Lillith Behr." She decided to use one of her last name’s this time, for information’s sake. She remembered seeing Ayasha at the meeting, "You have a scar on your eye, what happened?" She asked curiously. She had seen plenty of people with scars, her father had many, but she always liked hearing the stories on how they had received them, if they were willing to tell.

Ayasha had asked for her knife back and Lillith turned to see that the jerk-face wolf had the woman’s knife at his feet. Lillith glared at him vengefully, wondering if he’d have the common courtesy to bring back to its owner.

OOC Oh, teenage boys. / +3

Severus couldn’t help it. When Lillith broke into an indignant stream of shouting, he burst into laughter, lifting a paw to cover his face. He hadn’t meant to insult the girl, not really. Okay, maybe he had meant to, but his mother had often warned him of the scorn of a female. He stood, shaking his grey mix of a pelt out before moving over to where the red girl had dropped herself next to Ayasha. In his mouth he carried the dagger the woman had wanted back, and he placed it at her feet. His black nose dipped to the ground, pushing it over towards the alabaster biped.

In a rare moment of grace, the prince managed to ignore the comment about him running from the bear and the venomous glare the girl was putting on him. He already had a bear after him that day, he didn’t exactly need to be ganged up on by a couple of females either. He was stronger than them both, of course, and would have no issue warding them off, but It wasn’t honourable. He lifted his head, thinking himself very much the chivalrous gentlemen when he was more than likely being a chauvinist prick.

Where did you learn knife play like that? He asked, cocking his head to the side and perking his ears for her answer. He hadn’t yet taken to training with weapons, and had only wrestled around in secui form briefly with his brother. Weapons meant power, and knowledge was even more powerful than that. The prince craved both, and as he waited for Ayasha to answer him, he wondered if she’d offer to teach him. He could learn by himself, of course, because he didn’t need anyone, but it wouldn’t hurt for him to watch how she worked and then just naturally do better.

Ayasha watched the way that the two pups were acting and had to hold in her laughter. So she settled for a smirk as the girl, who introduced herself as Lilith, got extremely mad at the slightly older boy pup. But she didn’t have the pull the two of them apart as the boy ignored Lilith and returned her knife to her. She reached down and cleaned it off, smiling and saying, ”Thank you…” She still didn’t know the boy’s name and hoped that the more direct trailing off would cause him to introduce himself to her.

But the two of them seemed to want to hear about the same thing, even if they didn’t know it. Lillith wanted to know about her scar and the boy wanted to know how she learned to use her knife. She decided to turn it into a grand tale. She sat down and began her tale. ”Well, I’ll tell you both a story since your questions are both asking about the same larger story. When I was about a year old over in AniWaya, a mean man named Maska came and threatened both our neighbors and our own pack members. So to help get rid of him, I learned to fight from my uncle, J’adore. I was a scout and lead some of the canines that were helping him astray on a raid. I had my face cut and was nearly strangled. I then killed that bad man and my pack and our allies soon sent Maska away to face trial for his crimes against us.” She made sure her voice was dramatic enough for pups.

OOC :: OOC. WC :: 273

Lillith’s angered looks cooled to a haughty disdain when the boy picked up the dagger and brought it over to the white woman. She took it from him and Lillith scooted away from his form before turning to hear Ayasha speak. She answered both their questions in story form, telling a tail of how she had once been a part of another pack and her adventures there. The crimson pup listened in rapt silence, hanging on the woman’s every word; it was not the story itself that fascinated her so, but the information held within it. Lillith knew there were other packs, but had never visited another to her recollection, so the idea of a battle happening in some far of clan was intriguing.

When the story was finished, Lillith wagged her tail, "Very cool! I can’t wait to be able to shift and learn to fight some day!" She stood then and mocked charged Ayasha’s feet, before rolling away with a giggle. She knew her mother had other, more spiritual plans for her, but Lillith just wanted to tussle and show other people how strong she was. Her eyes flitted to the boy again, her eyes darkening; if only she was bigger, she wouldn’t have let him get away with talking to her like that.

Then, in the distance, the ravens took flight from their roost, obviously bored, and flew back towards their favorite haunt just outside the caverns, "Well, there go my shadows… I like the rustling of their wings..." It was and offhand comment, and Lillith was distracted by it for a moment before turning back to look at Ayasha.

OOC Oh, cocky boys. / +3!

He couldn’t help but find the younger girl’s attitude towards him comical. He hadn’t really done anything to her besides call her Squirt. She was a lot smaller than him, after all, him being so huge and bulky in his secui form, in his mind at least. The grey boy didn’t consider that if anyone called him Squirt he’d more than likely fly into a rage and get himself in even more trouble. No, right now his mind was on avoiding a lecture, as well as an explanation to just how the bear had wound up chasing after him.

Grey ears rimmed with black twitched and perked as the females spoke, picking up on their various words. Slowly he found that the girlish chatter was boring him, and he gave his tail a few little flicks, heaving out a sigh which he tried to keep subtle. After the excitement of being chased by the bear, this calm conversation was almost painful, and he started to wish that someone would come along and start yelling at him. Alaki probably wouldn’t appreciate the thought of another bear attack with Severus involved, and it might be fun to see the Angelo get a little pissed off.

When the puny pup started talking about shifting, Severus’ eyes darkened a little before he glanced away. He hated his Optime form, hated how clumsy he felt in it, like he didn’t belong there. His brother Octavius was more skilled at it, more than likely because he actually practiced and tried to get better, rather than Sev who just whined a bit and waited for things to magically improve. The ruby pup’s charge at Ayasha pulled him from his bitter thoughts, and he actually barked out a laugh before his eyes turned to watch the ravens take flight.

Ayasha watched the two younger canines as she told the story with their varying degrees of interests. Lilith seemed extremely fascinated by her story but she wasn’t sure if it was her storytelling abilities or if she liked the actual story. Either way was fine by her. As long as one of them was happy with her tale she was thrilled.

The boy that was with them seemed to be bored and let out a sigh that he probably thought was silent but she noticed it and gave him and amused look. Of course she still had no idea what his name was but that didn’t seem to bother him. Of course, she knew that his mother was the Angela but that was it. He was also likely younger than she was but not as young as Lilith seemed to be.

The red girl talked about how much she couldn’t wait until she could shift and then she charged at Ayasha, which made her smile. A bunch of ravens flew off and Ayasha wouldn’t have noticed if it weren’t for what Lilith said about them being her shadows and the whispering of their wings. The comment made her jolt slightly and she wondered briefly if the little girl knew about butterflies, since that was how Liam described his delusions, which Ayasha was sure they were. But she soon dismissed the theory but was still a bit shocked by the similarities.

OOC :: Lillith is bored XD. WC ::

Lillith looked between the white woman and the jerky boy and let out a sigh. She could hear her ravens calling in the distance and suddenly became very bored of the situation and company. Perhaps if that bear came back things would change, but as Lillith craned her next to look into the forest beyond Ayasha's shoulder, she realized that that would most likely not be happening.

She turned her attention the woman again, and was surprised to see a strange look on her face, one which caused Lillith to cock her head curiously. Had she said something she shouldn't have? She looked over at Jerk-face and he didn't seem to be acting the same. Weird. Lillith let out a yawn that was only half natural, "Well, I best be going. Nice to meet you Ayasha." And the young pup turned, making sure to 'hmph' when walking by the young male. Then Lillith broke out into a run, heading back towards the caves.
