Even with most of the family bustling around getting things ready for the night the was a tense feeling filling the air, the combined unhappiness of the family painfully obvious even without anybody talking. Very few of the group, including even the adults that had MADE the decision, seemed happy to be leaving Ichika no Ho-en, making Keldava wonder why they had wanted to leave in the first place.

Out of the lot Keldava was probably the least upset. While she was somewhat sad at the thought of leaving her home her love of adventure had come through; sheer excitement of leaving Ichikan territory and going on a trip days long blunting the sorrow at leaving. The loss of her beloved mountains stung somewhat but as she had walked Keldava had lost even that pain, reasoning that the added distance would just make climbing to the top of them all the sweeter when she finally did it and (incorrectly) assuming that there would be nothing to stop her making the climb when she was older.

A more pressing concern was Keldava's recent encounter with a bobcat, an encounter that had left her missing a sizeable chunk of her left ear. Even with that though the mental effects were limited; Keldava was young enough for her mind to be flexible and just plain didn’t scare easily, especially when around Mahnaya. The wound would mark but Keldava hadn’t seen it yet and would simply think it looked cool when she eventually did, her main concern about the wound was that it itched. A lot.

With little to do and her siblings either sulking or fussing around their parents Keldava had little to do. She had been trying to cheer up her Talnala but her efforts had been largely ineffective and she had retreated, frustrated both at her failure and the continued sadness of her family.

Keldava had settled a few metres uphill from the others beneath a towering pine tree. The pine needles littering the floor made a soft bed and Keldava was putting it to use, curled up in a ball and alternating between cleaning herself and scratching at her tightly bandaged ear with her hind leg. The cut still stung and her efforts had produced dots of red where it had reopened but these bothered Keldava little, the puppy more bothered about that damn itching.

OOC here!

She was not a happy pup in the slightest. Yes, riding in the cart with Salvia pulling her had been lots of fun. Dalgina had never done anything like that before, and had been head over heels with delight over what they were doing. Actually leaving her ingali behind though, had torn open her heart, leaving a very sad pup to sit and pout about leaving. Keldava hadn't shown any of the sorrow Dalgina had felt, making the pup feel alone, cut off from her closest friend.

Even worse, the blood monsters had found them, attacking Keldava. Worried, Dalgina had spent the past several minutes working on a way to keep them away. Finally having come up with something Dalgina trotted proudly over to where Keldava sat, scratching at her sliced ear. No tingla! You mustn't do that! Dalgina came over, licking at the torn ear gently. Turning around Dalgina scooped up the ragged white rope she'd found, ashy marks on it. Look. It's to keep the blood monsters away.

Word Count → 186 :: Sorry for the shortness

Keldava's ears, well the ear that wasn't held tight by bandages, shot upwards as she heard 'Gina's voice and smelt her tingla approaching, though it drooped slightly when she realised that Dalgina was attempting to have her stop scratching her, "But it itches." she whined, flicking the ear again with her foot as though the motion could show 'Gina how much it itched.

Keldava started at the mention of "Blood Monsters", wondering if they were related to the monster that had attacked her in the forest; Mahnaya had killed that one but it hadn't occurred to Keldava that there might be more! A high pitched, protective growl escaped Keldava's throat; there was no way any blood monsters were gonna scare her sister.

Keldava turned her head up and licked 'Gina across the muzzle before trying to reassure her. "No monsters here 'Gina, Mahnaya scared 'em all off! I protect you if they come back." Keldava looked at the white cloth 'Gina had found and then the similar cloth wrapped around her ear, "Mahnaya already thought of tha 'Gina, look." Keldava tilted her ear, showing the bandages to 'Gina.

OOC here!

Told that it itched Dalgina paused, considering the matter. There had to be a way to make it stop itching so Keldava didn't rub at it too hard. She decided that a soft chew would probably be the best for that, taking the ear into her mouth and gently chewing on it. Feeling her tingla jolt from her grasp Dalgina let go, looking over. A growl came from Keldava, protective and firm. Dalgina's tail wagged slightly, knowing that Keldava would fight the bad guys like she'd always said she would.

Her muzzle was licked reassuringly, Dalgina nudging her head against Keldava happily. Of course Mahn would keep them away. The problem was that she ended up being hurt doing that, just like last time. Dalgina didn't want that, so she made the special keep-away cloth. She shook her head, pushing the rope closer. Different. See? This one's marked. Dalgina pointed out the ashy spots that she believed gave it the power to protect.

Keldava peered owlishly at the rope being offered towards her by her sister, "It'll keep the monsters away?" she questioned, nudging the rope with her nose. It looked weird and smelled of old fire and overall Keldava couldn't really see what gave 'Gina such faith in it. Still 'Gina being upset worried Keldava more than the threat of any monsters attacking her, especially with Mahnaya nearby, so perhaps the rope would be helpful.

"How I use?" She asked 'Gina, tail wagging along the ground. While Keldava was a little more grounded in reality than her sister she was always up for playing along in a game, especially if it would make 'Gina feel better, "We hit monsters with it?" she offered. If there were more of those bobcats out there then Keldava certainly wouldn't mind getting ahold of one and teaching it a lesson. Keldava's bluster had returned quickly following her attack and her ego had emerged unscathed; it would take more than a simply split ear to dissuade Keldava from testing herself against the monsters that inhabited the wilds.

OOC here!

Dalgina nodded her head, proud of the small invention. She wasn't sure that it would actually work, but she needed it to, and that was enough to boost her spirits. Asked how it would work Dalgina immediately paused. She hadn't thought about that. Dalgina hadn't considered how the rope would work at all, just assuming that it did it's job however it would be done. She stared at the rope, trying to figure out how it could possibly be used.

Her tail wagged immediately at the suggestion. Yes! You hit them and they run away scared. Keeps them from hurting us. Dalgina perked up with that idea, cheered up by the idea. That was how it was meant to be used. She had meant it to be used like that the entire time. Coming over Dalgina rubbed against Keldava happily, tail wagging. Better, yes? She was still scared and not happy about leaving, but at least this had been done. It made her feel a bit better.

Short Sad

Keldava's tail beat against the ground and 'Gina's side as she leant her head into 'Gina's scruff, licking her ears comfortingly, "Yes, much better!" she yipped before darting forwards and snatching the rope up in her mouth. Keldava shook the rope about a bit, smacking it against the ground with a few dull thuds before she calmed, looking at 'Gina happily with her tongue just lolling out from behind the rope

"We play now? Hit any monsters we find with the rope!" Keldava asked, tail wagging behind her as she pranced around in front of 'Gina. Keldava's familiar energy was returning now that 'Gina seemed a little happier. Coming up with an idea she darted forwards, lightly tapping 'Gina on the nose with the rope before dropping it at her feet, "Rope Tag! You it!" she yipped out before turning tail and running, stopping every now and then to turn around and check 'Gina was still playing.

OOC here!

Dalgina's ears were licked softly, comforting the young pup at her tingla's touch. Grinning she looked up, brown eyes adoring of her stronger orej. The loud yip declared how well Keldava was doing as she returned to her regular hyper state of being, instead of pouting and scratching at the itchy bite. The spirit rope was grabbed up, Keldava shaking it around. Surely any monsters that were nearby would be gone now! Her tail wagged, stepping forwards a little cautiously.

She nodded her head, bowing down a little to begin the game. Keldava darted over, whacking the rope on Dalgina's face. The pup squealed with surprise, leaping back. She watched Keldava dart off, and grabbed the rope at her feet. It beat at her side as she ran, chasing after Keldava. Panting she followed the colored pup, looking for ways to go after her. She tried short cutting, but it didn't work. Finally getting close Dalgina swung her head, letting the rope fly after her tingla.
