OOC here!

Despite what Hadley had said about going out to find himself, he was still staying near the area where his pack was. Occasionally he wandered further out, but adventures that strayed more than a couple days away from his pack still had him shying away. His courage had grown, he had approached a stranger and talked with her. Granted, she had nearly bit his and another's head off, but it had been a start, as small as it was. He was approaching others, instead of waiting for them to approach him.

Finding himself on the pack's borders Hadley looked around nervously. Jazper did say he could come back anytime, but had it really been meant? Stepping over Hadley felt he feeling of being home wash over him. Yes, this was where he belonged. As far as he wandered Hadley would only feel at peace here, even if Amy had come here to hunt him down. Walking through, a bounce in his step the fresh carpenter worked his way towards the summer place that he'd learned about. Perhaps he could work on fixing up some of the buildings there, work on getting it ready for when summer came and the pack moved there.

Cadmeia Teumessian

It was a beautiful day, and Cadmeia couldn’t help but smile to herself. She hadn’t been exploring much since winter had ended, and there was much to be seen. Lazing about in the grass, she thought back to the days when she used to be alone, before she had met Hadley and the others. The sweet smell of forest and flowers made her reminiscent of days long passed when she used to play pretend. There was a small part of her that missed those days, the days before she knew compassion and friendship. Now that she knew it, she wanted it more than ever. Being alone was never easy - she couldn’t go back to not knowing. Now she knew the true meaning of “ignorance is bliss”.

Cadmeia couldn’t take it anymore - she had to get up and explore. While it was nice to rest in the sun, she couldn’t stand being alone. Lazily, she got to her feet, feeling a bit down. Looking off into the distance, she saw a dark spot moving towards her. She caught a whiff of the breeze, a familiar scent, and instantly knew who was coming her way. Digging her claws into the ground, she shot off towards him, kicking up dirt and grass as she went.

OOC random fact: that quote contains all 26 letters of the alphabet

From where he was, Hadley didn't spot the fast moving kit. It was a while before the red against the green came into sight, and at that point all he had time to do was have his jaw drop open in surprise before she had tackled his leg. Kneeling down Hadley grinned broadly. His little kit! Happily he stroked at her body, feeling her overly large ears, watching her fluffy tail flashing behind her. She was such a sweet little creature, he couldn't help but love her.

Hello Cadmeia. Enjoying the sun? It was a beautiful day. Gently he picked her up so that she was cradled in his arms again, softly brushing along her body. I was going to the town to do some work. Would you like to come along? If he could spend time with her, Hadley was sure to do it. If Cadmeia expressed disinterest in helping him with that, the hybrid was more than willing to stay there and just play with her.

Cadmeia Teumessian

Cadmeia melted in the big wolf’s paws. His fur was soft, comforting against her body. She tilted her head up and licked his nose. ”Why haven’t I been around more?”, Cadmeia thought to herself. No matter how much she loved the attention, she was struggling to get used to her new lifestyle. It was so easy to just drift away in a daydream and come to just as dusk would approach. ”This has to change. If I don’t start helping out, I may be shunned.” She shivered at the thought. Hadley’s sweet voice snapped Cadmeia back to reality, back out of her head. ”Please, yes! I’d love to help!” Cadmeia blushed a little - she really had missed Hadley. She felt bad that she’d not spent much time with him. She KNEW it’s what she wanted....then why hadn’t she done it? Cadmeia burrowed deeper into Hadley’s arms, nuzzling his chest and grooming his fur. She looked up, squeaked ”Let’s go!” and hoped that he wouldn’t notice her eyes filling up with tears.

He smiled as his nose was met by a small tongue. She certainly was a sweet small thing. Hadley didn't know why her parents would have left her to roam on her own, especially to wander over to a wolf pack. Someone less friendly could have met her. That would have been horrible. A shiver ran through Cadmeia's body. Instantly he drew her closer, hoping that she wasn't cold. It wasn't much, but there was still some snow out here. He did have a small place set up for her by the fire in the courthouse. Perhaps it wasn't enough.

Her enthusiastic response brought a smile from Hadley as he continued walking forwards to the town. What would he do with Cadmeia? She could pass him his tools while he worked on it. There was a house that wasn't too bad he was planning on fixing up. Straightening the doors and cupboards would be enough. He was surprised to notice the tears. Stopping he lifted Cadmeia up close to him. Are you okay? Do you need something? He was worried about her. Hadley wasn't very good at this kind of thing, but he wanted to make her happy.

Cadmeia shook off, much like a wet dog would. ”Snap out of it, I don’t want to put this on him!” She wriggled about a little and climbed up to wrap herself around Hadley’s neck. She pressed her cheek against his, then made eye contact and gave him a large, toothy grin. Hadley didn’t seem to buy it. She felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. She didn’t want to bring the mood down by acting this way, but she also didn’t want Hadley to worry too much. It really wasn’t a huge deal, she’d get over it...but perhaps she should still talk to him. She could still let him know how she felt without being a bummer about it!

Cadmeia, still with a bit of enthusiasm on her face, looked to Hadley and let it out. She told him how she felt bad for being distant, how she was worried that she’d lost him. I hope you’re not too upset - perhaps you didn’t even notice, being so busy. Hopefully Hadley would understand her - she explained that sometimes she got lost in her own head, and before she knew it the day was over, and then a week had gone by, and in the blink of an eye her whole month had disappeared. Then she jumped onto his head, tickled his face with her tail, and cooed ”LET’S GO!!!”

The smart kit climbed up Hadley's body. Curled up on his shoulder she rubbed against him. Hadley returned it with his own affectionate nudging, rubbing against him. A large grin was given to him, full of that happy spirit that boosted her. Hadley listened to the fox, face grim. The poor kit had been through a lot. He knew that she struggled being around others, not used to the adaptations that were needed. He had done his best to care for her, but clearly not enough.

He certainly hadn't forgotten her! I noticed. I had imagined that you were making friends. The large male felt foolish for thinking that now. Clearly she was struggling with reconnecting. Her tail tickled against him, bringing a smile up. Alright. Hadley moved forwards, vowing silently that he wouldn't be leaving her alone again. He would make sure to spend time with her. Reaching the town Hadley looked around, moving towards the house. Grabbing some tools he moved up to the door, examining the damaged door. That would be the first thing to repair.

Cadmeia Teumessian

Perched around Hadley’s neck, Cadmeia let her paw swing over his chest. She felt so lucky to be able to spend this day with him. Hadley's soft fur made her feel at home, safe and warm. He was such a gentle giant, and Cadmeia loved to be near him. He accepted her for who she was, the imperfect little creature she may be. "One day I'll make it up to Hadley. I'll show him how important he really is."

As they approached the town, Cadmeia's claws dug in to Hadley's neck - out of excitement. She'd not spent a lot of time here, and was happy to get out of her usual routine. Hadley bent over to pick up some tools, and Cadmeia clung on tighter so she didn't fall off. It was easy for her, and even if she did fall, she would be quick to land on her feet. Hadley brought them to a house and started inspecting the door. Cadmeia had never been good at fixing things...was the door broken? He seemed to be paying a lot of attention to it. "Hadley...is it broken? Can we fix it? I....can I help you?"

Tiny claws pricked his neck as he moved around, the kit working to make sure she stayed on him instead of tumbling to the ground. Reassuringly he brought up a hand to stroke her large ears, a smile that she couldn't see on him. The door wasn't in too bad of shape, a broken hinge sending it leaning back and some rough edges that would need smoothing. At least the porch was good, he wouldn't have to tear that off. The soft words brought his attention over. Yes, it's broken, but I'm sure we can repair it.

Thinking of a way that Cadmeia could help him was a lot harder. He certainly didn't want to send her off, but she didn't have hands, and was such a small creature. What if she got hurt moving through the old house? You can hold onto the nails, make sure I have them when I need them. That would save time. Dealing with the nails was rather time consuming, especially when there was so much to do. Placing what he didn't need to use right away on the ground Hadley picked up a small wooden piece. A few minutes passed, and a small wooden hinge, albeit a rather simple one, was ready. All that was left was to nail it to the doorway and door.

Cadmeia watched as Hadley tacked away at the hinge. She’d proffered him nails that she held in her mouth, making sure to bite on the middle so she didn’t accidentally swallow them. ”This is fun,” Cadmeia thought to herself. She really enjoyed her time with Hadley. Just being in her presence made her calm and relaxed. It was nice that she could still help somehow - having to bend down constantly for nails could be straining on his back. Cadmeia made sure that she always had a nail up and ready for him, standing on her hind legs and reaching as far up as she could for him. ”Is it fixed?” She scrambled up Hadley’s side, digging her claws into his fur for grip, and perched herself on his shoulder again.

The kit scrambled up his body, the hybrid's head turning to watch as she perched up on his shoulder. One hand reaching over he rubbed between her ears, smiling. Hadley examined the door once more, wondering if it would hold. It seemed well enough. Nodding his head he reached out, pushing at the door. Smoothly it swung in, silent as it crossed. It had worked! Grinning like a fool now he stepped further inside, looking around for what else would need repairs. The walls and floors were in fair condition. He wouldn't have to worry about that at least.

Moving to the kitchen Hadley looked over. The cupboards were sagging down, an almost depressing sight. The sink had been completely rusted as well, looking monstrous in appearance with mold growing over it. His nose wrinkled up, wondering how he was going to get that obvious flaw out of the house. Break it? Would he be able to do that? Would Cadmeia be safe if he did? He looked over the sink, looking for connections, not realizing that it was connected to pipes underneath. At least the water had been shut off for decades.
