The Ending of a Chapter.

The morning was quiet and somber when Temo arose out of bed after a fitful sleep. Jace had gone earlier and the pups were still asleep leaving him in his own thoughts. Even the early morning sunlight streaming through the windows did not seem bright as he made his way silently down the hall and into the living room. He stared at the fireplace that had gotten cold during the night. They had not banked the coals the night before so the heat would escape and the fire would die as they would not need the flames the next morning.

A trip into the kitchen for a swallow of water to swish around through his teeth to try and wash the dryness from his mouth and a glance around at the near empty cupboards where they had spent the last couple of days going through them and the rest of the house for what to take and what not to take. With his glance around the kitchen, he wondered if there was anything they might be forgetting or if they should not take as much as they were taking.

Temo padded over to the french doors and looked out at the scenery that was laid out before him. The place he and Jace had called home. For the second time in his life, he was about to leave friends and family to strike out into the unknown. The sadness welled up inside him and a few tears seeped from his eyes and gently rolled through the fur of his face and dripped off. Unlike the time he left his birth pack in the far off lands of the Pacific Northwest, he would not be alone. Jace would be with him in their journey as well has his four children.

No matter what direction his thoughts took him, the day would be a sad day. A day of saying good bye to the friendships they had built and to the lands they had called home. Saying goodbye to the house that they had made their own and started their family in.

With the silence of being in thought, Temo busied himself with checking over the carts and making sure they had everything they wanted to take with them and getting everything ready for the journey. Keeping himself busy he waited for his mate's return and her help getting the carts hitched up to the horses and the reluctant children rounded up. The overlaying mood was like walking in sand as they set out from what was home for the last time.

It was with a heavy heart that Temo and family said their goodbyes on their way out of Ichika, As they crossed the boarder from packland to the unknown, like his mate, Temo did not look back but only forward. It was a monumental and life changing decision that they made together and there was no turning back. They could not turn back. Although this was the end, it was also a beginning, it was an end of a chapter.
