Pregnancy question(s)
#1
So Vannah I agreed to have Ayasha be pregnant as of April 1. When will she have any idea that she's pregnant (or someone be able to tell her that she is since this will be her first litter) and when will she start showing?

For figuring out a pregnancy, it probably depends entirely on the Luperci, how sensitive they are to their own body, etc. Some Luperci are probably very self-attuned and would notice quickly that they feel "off" -- whether they attribute it to pregnancy or not, though.

On two opposite ends of the spectrum: Tlantli realized a few days after it happened, primarily because she was being hypervigilant and looking out specifically for signs of pregnancy. Eris never realized she was pregnant with Basilaris, because he was a single-child litter, she was not paying attention at aaaaall, and she was still breastfeeding at that point.

For showing, it probably depends on a) litter size and b) luperci size (bigger ladies show less) primarily. Probably around a month/six weeks, she'd start showing? @_@

I don't think we have actual information about this written down anywhere, and I just woke up, so this may be entirely incoherent. My apologies. XD

Ayasha is pretty well in-tune with her body and would know something was going on, though she would likely not know it was due to pregnancy. But she and Liam are working on getting pregnant. So I'll assume that by now she knows that something is up and show in another few weeks. She's having two surviving pups and one stillborn. Plus, she's kinda small and light. Thanks Sie Smile

when Kiara was pregnant with her puppies I went to google and youtube for resources. Kiara is dumb as a rock, and it took someone to point out her swollen belly before she realized what was going on. As for the stages of pregnancy and the actual labor process, I used resources I found online.

http://www.wolfcountry.net/information/WolfPup.html

http://www.2ndchance.info/caninelaborstages.htm I used this for labor

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/breedingpregnancyguide.htm This one is the best, but it is for dogs. I just assumed that it wouldn't be too different for wolves.

A bit off subject but still related, I used my own pregnancies to kind of guide my characters.

Now insert what Sie said. LOL

A bit random but I believe canines can often smell that they are pregnant, at least wolves can smell if another wolf is pregnant.

You can also tell the hierarchical status that the pup will have by its position in the womb. A female wolf can also speed up or slow down her pregnancy slightly to time it with prey abundance I do believe... Or I'm talking out of my arse, ya never know.
