It was a border. A line between her and her kitten. They'd decided to go on a journey a few days ago and traveled night and day with no purpose. Now that she'd reached Novia Scotia Amelia was a happy she-wolf with her odd little family of kittens and a fox. There was no reason for her to really need to travel along the trails of the land that was so vast around her, but she still liked to. Besides it was best for her to meet others and converse. If she did this then she perhaps could be satisfied with her life.

Now the kittens had ran up ahead a few hours ago and since their trails were fresh Amelia had used her nose to keep an eye on them as her and the arctic fox chatted quietly along. She was naked, a preference for her, aside from her mother's rosary she wore for more decoration than any serious religious token. She traveled in optime, another thing she liked best, with her long black hair curling down her back to settle just above her hips. Her normal braid glided diagonally across the back of her head and was decorated with wild flowers she'd picked along their way. Now she'd come across this border.

The problem was certainly not in the fact that it was a pack's border, she could care less since that meant there would be friends there for her, but rather it was the fact that the kittens had already crossed and disappeared out of sight. As much as she'd called the two black-footed kits were no where to be found and she refused to cross the border. The last thing she wanted was to cause a pointless conflict between her and this pack before her.

"Perhaps we should call for assistance," said the clever fox at her side. "Good idea. Maybe a pack member will show and fetch the kits for us. Or even let us cross to track them down." They nodded in agreemant and lifted their heads in a loud, echoing howl. Whatever the situation a person of this pack was surely to come to them when the friendly howl met their ears. "I'm going to light their tails on fire when I get ahold of those two!" joked Charm. Amelia's velvet laugh filled the air and then she turned back to the border and started to call for Oro and Azul once more.

Ve, here we go~

The timber wolf hadn't been doing much that particular day. He had gone off in search of food, which consisted of his odd favorite, rabbit, taken a short nap, and decided to roam the lands of his pack for the remainder of the day. There wasn't anything else on his to-do list, anyway, and you never know when an adventure would come along...

A prime example was a few minutes later, when Rivers first heard the howl. It was loud, and a bit echoing from the distance, but the male knew instantly that he had better go and check it out. If someone was hurt, he wasn't going to be flat-out inhumane—he would help them, like any good person. Rising from the ground, which he had been sleeplessly resting on for an hour or so, he set out for the cry, curious and relatively ready for whatever the source was.

It was only until after he left for the howl he realized it was not just one singular cry, but rather two. Rivers hadn't really noticed that earlier, but that meant if one was injured, the other was likely to be hurt as well. Or perhaps one was just in need of assistance to help the other out. Whatever the case, it made the Luperci pick up his pace until he reached the source. A girl and a fox. More specifically, a rather pretty girl with a rosary and black, curly locks and... an Artic fox, perhaps? Nonetheless, neither seemed to be in physical pain, which was good.

Clearing his throat, Rivers took a few slow steps forward, careful to keep the girl's personal space in mind, but close enough to have a decent conversation. "Pardon me, miss, but you're mighty near Anatheman borders. Can I help you with somethin'?" he asked, his hand resting on his side as the other rested on the back of his neck. He offered a smile, but not one of scornfulness by any means. It was rather warm and genuine, as he wanted to help the girl out if there was a problem she needed to fix.

"Maybe we should give another howl or some–" Charm's idea was cut short as a rustling revealed a nice looking male. He had his own look about him that inticed Amelia, or it would have if she hadn't been worrying about those cats. He gave a helpful smile as he finished off a sentence. Anathema? A strange pack name but she'd take it. Charm shuffled next to her, eyeing the man curiously before starting to speak, "Well, sir, it would seem we got some kid-o's running reckless in your pack's land."

Amelia gave a small laugh and added in her mexican accent, "The gatos ran off before us and crossed your borders before we could stop them. They're small still and can't talk to us so it is hard to keep up with them some times." She gave him a smile, one of the ones she wore around males naturally since she was a flirt, and tilted her head. It would be possible that the male thought she was flirting to get him to help, though it wasn't her intention at all.

She moved just a bit, sniffing Oro's and Azul's scents out along the thick Anathema border. "They disappeared right around here," she said, "Could you let us retrieve them from the pack lands? It'll take un momento."

"Well, sir, it would seem we got some kid-o's running reckless in your pack's land."

Ah, so that was the pair's reason. A few young'uns wandering off, huh? Well, that was innocent enough. Rivers had a pretty good judgement when it came to others, and he could tell the fox was being sincere. Besides, it wasn't like he and his friend were going to terrorize his pack. They seemed safe enough.

The girl added, her Mexican dialect making Rivers blink as he mused over how someone even more Southern than him managed to make it up to Nova Scotia, that the "gatos" had recklessly crossed Anathema's borders, and the two weren't able to call them back any way as they were too young to understand them. The wolf gave her an understanding nod, but felt his mismatched eyes widen a bit. The smile this girl gave him... It was almost a bit... flirtatious. It was intriguing at best, and Rivers assumed she was trying to get on his good side. She must've really cared for those "gatos," whatever those were, if she was resorting to charming her way in. ... Or was she?

Nevertheless, the man nodded once more as she asked if she could look for them. "Nah, go ahead," he replied, letting his smile return as it had disappeared briefly, "I might need to go with you, though, 'cause some of the others might try to bite your head off if you wander here alone. But I'm sure that ain't gonna be a problem, 'cause you aren't gonna do nothin' else but look for them 'gatos' you lost, right?" His grin turned into a lopsided, toothily smirk.

In all truth, in addition to wanting to be helpful, he also wanted to befriend the attractive female. Perhaps out of loneliness, but Rivers doubted that. The reason for trying to get to know her remained unknown even to the timber wolf, but oh, well. That didn't really matter.

With his permission Amelia, hips swaying, set sail for the border and crossed it with only a brief hesitation. If a pack member was with her she wouldn't have any problems, right? Besides, he was a nice male and she had Charm with her as some protection. Charm trotted along her side as they went, being small for his kind like she was they both looked liked dwarfs next to one another. "I'm Charm, by the way. Amelia DeLosSantos is the lady." Ah, introductions how had she forgotten? If her madre had been there she'd been roasted on her manners.

She turned back towards the male and gave him another flirty smile as she muttered, "Hola." and paused to let him say something back. His voice was accented in something familiar. Southern like her perhaps? She zoned out, half listening ot him and half checking him out as her worry had subsided now that she was across the border. Charm cut into her brain suddenly as he said, "I smell the cats this way. Don't think they would have gotten far since Azul has stubby legs and Oro doesn't leave her side."

Blinking, Amelia turned back in the scent trail's direction. "Azul! Oro? ¡Ayudame, por favor!" They'd find them sooner or later she was sure and as she swayed her hips and walked about she couldn't help sense the male and get a bit excited. Had Tom left her this lonely? She held back a giggle at the thought of her moving on to the luperci she'd just met.

Rivers mentally noted the girl's hesitation at first, but she seemed fine as the trio set out to locate her friends. He walked alongside her, keeping a nice amount of distance between them just as a precaution, but this was only a mere foot away from her. The fox trotted on the other side of her, and the timber wolf glanced down at him as he made introductions. Charm and Amelia. Well, that sounded pleasant, didn't it? "Rivers Skyeward," the male greeted casually after Amelia gave him a pretty smile and a phrase in... wait, was that Spanish? No wonder her voice sounded familiar. Unless she was from overseas, of course, but regardless, Rivers remembered the drawl from his childhood, as he lived near a Mexican pack way back when. He forced his gaze forward, though, to keep his eyes from darting to her face or her ever swaying hips.

Charm, after a moment or two, soon stated that he smelled the cats. ... The what? The Luperci male thought they were looking for gatos. Unless that was "cats" in Spanish. Despite living near Spaniards back in the day, he never really got the just of the language, which was understandable, he hoped. Amelia started to call for them in her second tongue, and Rivers remained silent. He vaguely thought of whistling to grab the cats' attention, but reasoned against it. He might scare them off, in any case, since he was unfamiliar to them and all. He stood back, letting his arms cross over his chest as his throat cleared, which was officially his new verbal tic. He cut a glance at Charm, then back at the Mexican beauty, then at the ground, becoming lost in his own thoughts as Amelia called for her young feline friends.

The chatty fox rambled on beside her as she'd been thinking on Rivers and his handsome wolf body and what not. "I knew a guy name River, singular, before. Though I have to say the guy had a tendancy to lack proper cleaning and everyone held their breath around him..." The information was pointless just like Charm insisted on having pointless chatter and he went on and on until he realized Amelia'd grown quiet and they needed to find the kits. He called her back and she jumped but went to calling them in spanish.

As she called Charm took a moment to look up at Rivers and started to explain the situation. "The black footed cats, or as Amelia prefers gatos, are her babies pretty much. Azul means blue in spanish so she calls the blue-eyed one that. Oro means gold and so the male's a more gold color than Azul... so that's how he earned his name..." With a small chuckle Amelia turned around and looked at the fox. "Ay, Charm! ¡Silencio, muchacho!" His babbling finally stopped just as a shuffling could be heard.

Her attention turned to a group of plants that shuddered beneath something's movement. Suddenly, yet rather expected, the kits launched from the underbrush and rushed to their wolf mother. Their mews urgent as they cried happily, Amelia bent down and let them jump into her arms. She stood slowly and wagged her tail happily. Charm took a seat with a happy, over-dramatic sigh to make sure he was noticed. Her gaze turned to Rivers kindly. "Oro," she raised her right arm which held the kitten then shifted to point out the other one, "Azul." The kittens squirmed and burrowed and snuggled into the Mexican Wolf's fur happily mewing.

It was Oro who turned his eyes on Rivers first and his pupils enlarged since he had no idea who it was. His nose raised in the air and sniffed curiously at Rivers, Azul soon catching on and shyly hiding her face in Amelia's arm. Laughter sounded from Amelia at the sight. "¡Niños! Don't you know how to say thank you to the kind man who let us come retrieve you?" She knew it was useless to speak to felines who didn't know how to talk with canines but Oro turned his eyes to face her's and sniffed at her as if to say, Wait so he's good then? Azul on the other hand simply squirmed until she was able to jump down and run hide behind Charm.

Rivers listened distantly to Charm's mindless babble as he proclaimed to have met a man before with the name "River," which lacked the obvious "s," but still decided to remain quiet, even as the white fox mentioned that the guy from before never really bathed all that much. He was half-tempted to remark that he indeed bathed quite regularly, as he loved being in the water, but shrugged it off as Charm ceased talking for a brief moment. Amelia continued to call for her kittens, and, a bit unfortunately, really, Charm took the time to start chatting away again. He looked up at the timber wolf, describing the cats as Azul and Oro, who were each named such according to their colors, Azul being the girl and Oro being the boy.

The grayish wolf was close to chuckling as Amelia, quite bluntly, told her fox friend to shut his trap. Though he wasn't familiar with her second language, it was quite obvious what the words meant. He followed the girl's gaze to a brush that shifted slightly with small movement, and Rivers held his breath. Seconds later, two kittens launched from the plants, meowing happily as the Mexican woman scooped them up into her arms, as if she were their mother. Which didn't surprise Rivers if they were under the impression that she was their mother. Charm seated himself with an exhaggerated sigh of relief, and the timber wolf smiled. Amelia gestured to the kittens, introducing them to him.

Rivers blinked, his multi-colored eyes locking into Oro's as the young feline stared at him. A grin pulled at his lips as he started sniffing the air for the wolf's scent, and he actually began to laugh as Amelia scolded him with a giggle. "I wouldn't blame 'em for not sayin' nothin' to the strange, Southern boy that ain't got a clue about anything but huntin', sleepin', and swimmin'," he said, laughing all the while. "Glad I could help, though, Miss Amelia." He looked back at the Mexican wolf with a soft shine in his amber eye.

Was she blushing? That was silly it was simply that the male had talked about the cats. No reasoning for any of that here. She dropped Oro gently on all his fours and dusted her hands off for no reason really as she looked back at him, batting her large gold eyes. "Gracias Senor," catching herself in the act of spanish she corrected herself and added, "I mean thank you sir. We'll get out of your way and let you go on with life."

At their feet Charm gave a dramatic yawn to signify he needed to rest and let Oro tackle him to the ground with all the kitten's weight while Azul fretted about mewing something that probably said for Oro to behave. Whatever the matter the fox just laid his head down and took the beating Oro gave as he beat his paw along the large ears and crawled back and forth over his body. Amelia, noticing the events taken place below, began to laugh and clap her hands for the trio's attention.

"!Amigos! We must get out of the way of the Senor's way, si?" Charm grumbled a bit sitting up so Oro slid off his back and tumbled down into his sister. Azul let out a pathetic little cry and ran back towards Amelia's feet trying to get picked up. The female slowly bent to pick her up and looked back at Rivers, her eyes still flirting but her smile much less hinting. "Lead the way to the border, sir?"

Word Count :: 340 <3 Friends, yay! :3

Amelia gave him a thanks in return—though it was first worded in Spanish, but she was quick to translate back to English—her gold eyes blinking pleasantly. She mentioned leaving to get out of Rivers' way, and he shook his head. "Seems as though my life's hit a wall at the moment," he breathed, his hands skipping into his jeans' pockets, "Seein' cats and foxes and pretty women such as yourself is pretty much the only exciting thing I have nowadays." He winked his green eye at her, his smile tweaking into a smirk. The timber wolf saw the coloring of her face but disregarded it, as he thought nothing of it, really. His eyes wandered up to the flowers in her ebony hair as Oro started to beat up on Charm, who seemed to ignore him for the most part. Amelia began to giggle at the three, as Azul had started to mew at her brother's attack on the Arctic fox, and as the male looked down at them, he couldn't help but smile. Although the four in total, an attractive Mexican, a white canine, a blue-eyed kit and her more yellowish brother, seemed very unlikely to be traveling together, it all seemed to fit somehow. He wondered how Amelia could keep up with them as it was.

As the beaut bent down to pick up the female feline, she gave Rivers another smile, though it was softer then the others. "Yeah, sure thing. Whenever you're ready." He allowed her a bit of time to round up her crew before setting off for the borders again, his ears flicking a bit. The reason behind this was unknown to him, actually, but he kept doing it anyway. He was happy he met Amelia, as she seemed like a very nice and well-rounded person, and hoped they might cross paths again someday. Soon after this thought, however, he shot it down. Don't get ahead of yourself, he scolded in his mind, Take life one day at a time.

Word Count → 407 :: Wrap up soon and haz follow up post, si? ^^

"Ready."Oro resulted to prancing along side Charm's side who tried to avoid the random attacks that the kitten pulled as he walked. Sometimes the tom would dash under his legs to trip him and other times he'd jump and bat at the tail wagging lazily as he walked. Whatever the matter the two grumbled as they followed Amelia. The woman wondered beside Rivers, finding herself quickly getting closer to him until she finally had to slow her pace and give room between them.

The kitten, Azul, rustled until she found herself propped up on Amelia's shoulder using her arm to balance her back feet. "You come visit me sometime, si?" Her english slowly growing more accented as she found herself growing tired from traveling and in need of a siesta. "Mi casa is in Halifax... Along the edge... You could come see us if you're ever there..." It was silly how much she wished to see him again but she would invite him regardless and hope he wanted to see her.

Word Count :: 309 Yeah, sounds good. ^~^

He could tell this girl was nearing closer and closer to him, and he was sure at some point his oddly formed tail had brushed across her. But she soon drew back, possibly noticing the small distance between them and wanted to evade awkwardness that was sure to follow. Rivers let the silence between the five—not counting Charm's and Oro's struggles behind the Mexican girl, of course—be embraced for a few minutes as his mind went blank. He was perfectly content with listening to the wind blow and the soft footsteps the two Luperci made with every passing second, And besides, maybe Amelia was thinking about things. He wouldn't want to interrupt her thoughts. How rude of him!

As the group neared the borders of the Anatheman pack, the timber wolf looked back at the loner she-wolf. "Here we are," he stated, saying the obvious. After which Amelia asked if he would visit her sometimes near the edge of the Halifax. The man considered this silently for a moment. Sure, he liked this girl. She was definitely someone he would like to meet again, and it wouldn't hurt to visit her, would it? "I'll see what I can do," he promised, smiling warmly. "If I happen to be wanderin' nearby, I'll l swing by and see you. Just dunno when that'll be, but... I'll see you soon." His smile flashed his lethal fangs for a split second before he brought his hand up to his brow in some sort of a salute. "'Til then, my lady," he said, then started heading back to the dens of his pack, feeling slightly tired from the events prior to meeting Amelia DeLosSantos and after. Rivers forced himself not to look back, though, and instead looked forward to a brighter future. This was certainly the start of a beautiful friendship.
