(EXAMPLE 1)
Riek stood in the glow of Ignus, the bloodred crystal. He was not alone, though; at his side, touching his paws, was the broken corpse of Dal'Sonna's former alpha: Shadow. Riek had made a promise to Isa that he would show respect to Shadow for being a good father, and not disgrace him because of his unfortunate insanity. The teleporter had agreed on this, and decided that a suitable location to bury the body was in the very heart of Dal'Sonna and the Mother Tree, itself, near the three gems. Whether or not Riek liked Shadow was not the question; the guy was part of Dal'Sonna's history and he deserved a place of honor and respect.

It would be difficult digging through the tough wood, but Riek thought that perhaps he could use some of the moss that was covering the place in a thick blanket to cover the fellow. It would be easier than digging into the roots, and it would probably help the former alpha's body decompose more quickly.

The dungeon was completely secure, as far as Riek understood. Last time he was in here he and his friend, Faux, had tried to outrun a demon they had disturbed through many of the off-shooting tunnels that lead from the main room. All of them seemed to just lead right back to the room, and so the teleporter had concluded that there was no possible way for anyone to get in from the outside. He might have been wrong, though – but Riek had no idea where the entrance would be or how to navigate the confusing tunnels.

(EXAMPLE 2)
The tar poured over his face and out of his mouth, splashing to the floor in a disgusting plop. The strange breathing changed to a choking sound, and then altogether halted in a rather rapid moment. The transformation was completed, by most degrees, and now what sat there in the center of the den was no longer Bebop, but some sort of monster. It was made of tar, and it smelled to high heaven. Its wings, which were once ollec, laid on the ground without a purpose, still attached but unmoving. Every part of it was covered in blackness, but every now and then the substance would move away from the eyes to show Bebop's yellow eyes dart about wildly, not even taking a moment to focus on anything, but only for a moment.

The jaw, or rather what looked like was the jaw beneath the tar, opened and bubbles issues forth. It closed, and once more opened, this time clearing the airway with the bubbles with a curdling noise. It spoke, then, but it was not a dreadful voice that one would expect to come from a creature like this. The words were similar to that which Bebop had mumbled night after night during his nightmares.

”Dark, so dark.” The voice was Bebop's through and through; deep and soft, but somehow terrified. ”Where is my light? Where has it gone?” The words came slowly, as if each one had to be pushed through thick lungs to get to the mouth.

(EXAMPLE 3)
The strong tug of teleportation was enough to draw out the remainder of Riek's energy. In the middle of it all he had blacked out, and whether or not they had arrived at their destination the little teleporter would not know. It was dangerous to loose consciousness in the middle of teleporting, but these two were lucky, today, even though Riek had wanted to go deeper into the Fer'Onna territory. As it was, they were just on the outside of the Fer'Onna land, and the chances of finding anyone out here was very slim.

Riek's insides hurt even through the darkness. His mind worked a little, but it was mostly fear and pain that filled it, leaving no space for any coherent thought or senses. Though, he could almost hear someone speaking... it was as if they were calling his name, and the voice was familiar. Again it called his name and the little anima's ears perked ever so slightly toward the source. Of course he was laying right across the virosa's back, so it was not difficult to do so, but at least this was a small sign of life.

The teleporter had a lot to owe to this virosa whom he was currently sprawled out upon. The guy was brave and quick-thinking, and had saved the both of them from whatever the hell that monster was in the caves underneath the mother tree. Sure, Riek had teleported them, but it was still Faux which had really done the heroics. The red brute was sure to be remembered, that is – if Riek were to survive.

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
