Sorry for the delay, everyone! Its been crazy for me lately :c
New members that did not have a chance to sign up (or anyone else for that matter) can feel free to jump in! No post order. With each of my posts we will begin a new stage of the construction process to keep the project moving along, but feel free to focus on the social aspect of the task :3 Anyway your characters can come up with to make the work more enjoyable/entertaining is more than welcome!! As long as it doesn't impede production that is. / +500

Anann had been pleasantly surprised at how eager the majority of the members had been to volunteer themselves for the projects that she and Jazper hoped to complete this spring. Eliminating any need to assign such tasks to ensure their completion. It filled Anann with pride to know that the others took pride in the pack and the things that they could accomplish working together.

The sparring areas had at least been started, if they were not already finished by now, but there had been a delay in the starting of the barn. Tools that Anann had expected to arrive from a distant trader had not yet arrived. She did not know what had caused the delay in Gavin’s travels, but figured that it did not come without good reason. So in the end the Luna had to resort to scavenging for the tools. After exploring a baker’s dozen of hardware stores Anann had found enough post hole diggers to get the job done. Though the human tools were slightly smaller than the Tosawi versions she had hoped to have they would work well enough. She had even grabbed a few extra handles, just in case any broke.

The logs had been prepped and were stacked and waiting. The lumber and tin too was stacked and ready alongside buckets of nails of varying size. Anann stood in the middle of the cleared construction area where the rough outline of the building was marked out with stones. The largest of which signified where they would be setting the poles that would make the frame and foundation of the structure. She gave a short call to notifying everyone that it was time to get started, the setting just above the morning horizon. It was best they got started while the air was still cool.

Once enough people had gathered that they could get started on the work Anann rolled out the deer skin that she had drawn out the final plans on and motioned for everyone to circle around. Here you can see the basic design of the barn and stables. First we will need to set the poles. Once all the posts are set we can start on the roof, the outer and inner walls will come last. She pointed each out on the diagram as she spoke of them and Anann looked around to see if there were any questions before she went on. We will want to set the posts several feet into the ground. Just remember while you’re digging that if you can stick your arm down in the hole and touch the bottom its not deep enough yet. Also be careful not to make the hole too wide. It needs to be a little bigger than the post so we can pack dirt back in around it, but if its too wide the pole might lean before the ground sets around it. Anann moved from the drawn out plans and over to one of the large stones that had been marked with a whitewash. These mark the locations of the holes we need to dig. Are there any questions? Of coarse there were more specifics to that, but that was why Anann wanted to oversee this project herself and she would double check everything as they went.

Alright, lets get started!

While it may have seemed at first glance that Camila wasn't necessarily cut out for the job of building the barn, Camila knew that her jackal ancestry didn't always tell an accurate tale. In fact, it was because she was smaller than most canines around that she found herself building up strength, even back in Spain. Iberian wolves were, on average, smaller than the more common ancestry of Grey wolves, and with the mixed heritage of the smaller jackal, that made for a smaller Spanish fae than the others who had volunteered for the pack-wide event, but Camila was undeterred.

Even if she was a little nervous to meet the rest of the pack, and had never been a fan of such large numbers, the newcomer figured that it would definitely be a good idea to involve herself today, for many reasons. She would be helping the pack in the long run, making an impression on the Alphas, and get to know her packmates. There were definitely more positive than negative reasons to influence her decision, but in it's essence it came down to one simple yet accurate point - what else would she do with her time?

Making her way to where she'd heard the howl radiate from moments earlier, Camila slipped into the clearing, her Optime form standing smaller than the others, making it easy for her to blend in. Today marked the first day that she had left her belt of knives in the Fort, tucked away in a secret place she hoped only she was aware of. As precious as the knives were to her, they would be of little use outside of hunting or fighting. All the same, she still sported her golden bangles, tail cuff, and earrings on her form, loathe to give those up for any purpose other than a defined fight.

Hanging silently a little ways away from the others, Camila pricked her ears to what Anann was saying, craning her head to see the drawings on the table before them. Luckily enough for her, she'd managed to push to the front of the group around the deerskin, and the drawings were simple enough to make plenty of sense. Turning her bi-coloured gaze to see where Anann now gestured to the land around them, Camila was grateful that she'd had the presence of mind to tie her tawny hair back that morning before arriving with a piece of stray string she'd found in the Fort. Of course, some wisps had escaped and now framed her face, but that was both unavoidable and not critical to any matter.

As the group was encouraged to get to work, Camila wasted no time in seeking out a shovel to use, and her keen eyes spotted a pile that looked suspiciously enough like ones for this very purpose. Carefully crossing to pick one up, she balanced the tool in her hand for a moment, weighing it and testing the grip out of pure habit with her knives. While it may have been a human tool, it was certainly small enough for the woman to use well, and Camila made her way over to the first of the stones, beginning to dig with careful gusto. She wouldn't be the first to approach a packmate, although the company was more than welcome.

Hadley had come promptly at the call. He might not be terrified of the luna anymore, but she still managed to make him nervous. She was very strong. He glanced around the area he'd been called to with some curiosity. There were a lot of markings on the ground. Was this a building? Hadley was eager to help with that, tail wagging softly. He did know some about working with wood, so perhaps he could help out. Deerskin was rolled out, Hadley stepping over to look at it. It looked fairly simple, a drawing to show what needed to be done. He nodded his head along as Anann explained that they'd be digging holes to stick the posts in. He looked at the large stone, and moved to grab one of the tools.

He could shift to lupine form and dig through that way, but he was pretty sure that he'd be better off just working with the tool, even if he hadn't had much experience with it before. Reaching a stone Hadley rolled it out of the way and stuck it into the ground. It was a hard strike, Hadley gripping it tightly before he clumsily tossed the dirt away, similar to how he had worked mucking out the stalls in Aniwaya. His progress was slow, making sure each time he dug in a large amount was taken out, measuring the length so that the hole remained a good enough size. It was hard work, tensing each time he pushed into the ground, though the dirt he removed had no weight for him.

OOC here!

Isa was happy to help build the barn with the other members of her pack. They had gained a few new members that she was interested in meeting. Since Hadley never seemed to let her out of his sight, since she was still in heat, the construction was a good opportunity for her to get of the room and meet the newcomers and convers with her other packmates. She noticed Anann was leading the project herself. Isa hadn’t gotten the chance to spend much time with the Luna either so it seemed the whole experience would give her a chance to converse with quite a few packmates, as long as Hadley didn’t get upset if she got too close.

She listened carefully as her Luna spoke, informing them of the details for the barn. They were going to start off by setting in the posts, which didn’t seem too difficult. As she followed Hadley’s example and picked up one of the tools to start digging the holes for the posts, Isa noticed a young fae she hadn’t seen around before. Wanting to be friendly, Isa stepped forward and bowed her head to the woman. She was easily two feet shorter than her but she hoped she didn’t come off as intimidating to the woman. Hey there. I haven’t seen you around Casa before. I’m Ismeme, most just call me Isa though. It’s nice to meet you miss. Even though Isa was of higher rank than the girl before her, she still showed respect. That’s just how she was. Isa knew she wasn’t there to just meet up with the others, so as she waited for a reply she started working on digging the hole for the post.

Sebastian had wandered over to the construction site like a lost balloon. He was bored. He had no muse. Practising archery and knife-throwing could only entertain him for so long. Truthfully, he had little experience in building things. He wasn't sure how much use he would be. Really, the main reason he had bothered to show up was the fact that he wanted to be useful. Being surrounded by hot, shirtless, sweaty men was an excellent bonus.

Digging holes. Well. Sebastian winced and checked his beautifully sharpened claws. Notwithstanding the fact that it was the most feminine act he had done recently, he didn't really want to dull his claws or break a nail. Had he been more effeminate, doubtless he would have gone on a bitchy rant under his breath and pursed his lips petulantly as he slaved away.

But he was a man. Leaner than most, foxier than all and smaller than but a few, he was still masculine. A manly man who did manly things and worked hard, sweat pouring off his brow as muscles flexed underneath a covering of beautiful skin and fur, beautiful-

Stop right there. Sebastian flicked an ear.

He raised a coal-coloured hand. "Question, Anann. When you say that about arms, do you mean one of my arms-" he raised the short limb accordingly. "-or, perhaps, one of Hadley's?" Sebastian indicated the enormous hybrid. Huge, with long arms roped with corded muscle accordingly. Gods, his arm must have been three-quarters as wide as Sebastian's torso, at least.

Even though the she-wolf was young and looked fragile, she didn't mind getting down and dirty. The white and black colored fae stood in the group of familiar-ish beings. Black tipped ears pricked forward, as Annan's voice bounced off others and into her ears along with others. Blue eyes watched the strong fae, before the vibrant orbs casted down onto the plans for the building. The short Fia had to stand slightly on her tippy-toes so she would be able to see better.

Once everything was explained clearly, the woman set to work. Long black hair tied back with a strip of cloth and sleeves rolled up even though it was a short-sleeved t-shirt, she was ready to go. Finding the tools that the others seemed to be heading for, Fia took a small shovel in her paws. It was a bit heavy, but she'd be fine.

Spotting a mound-like thing that Fia guessed was where she was supposed to dig, the small fae moved toward it. Analyzing it for a moment to make sure this was right, the small white and black fae set to work. Raising the heavy shovel and putting it into the dirt was no easy task. Lifting the large amount of dirt out of the hole, she set it down next to the hole she was beginning to dig.

Swiping a paw across her forehead to move away some hair, the woman unknowingly caused a streak of dirt in her white fur. Though, she continued the process of digging this hole. So what, if she was small? So what, if digging a hole took more of an amount of effort than some? She wanted to help, and wanted to get this done. Don't judge a wolf, by it's fur Fia thought to herself, a small smile forming on her muzzle between her small grunts. Anyone could do anything, when they set their mind to it.

WC: 380 OOC:Helps helps helps :-)

It was just the thing she had been hoping for! The Luna had announced that a barn would be built, and all were welcome to help! Cadmeia hadn’t exactly been “around” lately - she had been feeling a bit tentative and nervous about how the others felt about her. She also knew that Hadley would be there, and she’d wanted to prove to him that she was worth something! She could make a difference, be worth something! At times she was a little bit flakey, but she didn’t mean to be! In any case, there was no sense in fretting about it now. The past was the past - it was time to step forward. All she could do was step forward and start - no better time to change than the present! She could also use the time to get to know her pack-mates better...hopefully they would approach her first (Cadmeia had a tendency to be a bit shy/nervous initially).

As Cadmeia made her way over to the build site, she surveyed the area, looking for those she recognized. There were a few she knew, Annan and Hadley...some more familiar faces like Sebastian...and then there were others she hadn’t come into contact with at all - who were they? She approached respectfully, with her head down - she cast a sideways glance at Hadley, and couldn’t help but grin a little. Just the sight of him made her happy. She liked to think of him as her protector - whether he felt that way or not was a different matter, but it made her feel better at least.

Cadmeia padded her way through the site which had already been started, avoiding falling into the holes. She made eye contact with Sebastian, and entirely against her character, decided to ask if he could use her help. She had seen him from a distance, and was curious about his personality - he was intriguing, and she didn’t want to be too much of a bother to Hadley. As she approached Sebastian (who, now that she thought, looked a bit like a fox), she tried to remain calm and collected, but before she knew it, she had fallen muzzle-first into a hole! So much for trying to help.

Sorry was hoping some more people would join in and please feel free to still do so!! Someone needs to help Cadmeia c: Also, I am being rather vague, so feel to claim any of the ‘mistakes’ if you want. / +300

It seemed that most were eager as the pack members quickly set themselves to the task at hand. She gave a light chuckle at Sebastian's comment. ”Your arm should be well enough Seb, after all it was just meant as a general guideline. But your right Hadley’s arm does make a rather long measuring stick.” Though the question provoked a thought in Anann’s mind and the solution suddenly seemed much easier. Grabbing a length of string Aann walked over to Sebastian. Here, give me your shovel. A couple hand’s breadth from the end of the shovel Anann tied the string tightly around the hand so it would slip. ”Dig til that sting is level with the ground when you stand the shovel on end in the hole.” Liking the idea, Anann quickly did the same to the other shovels. It still wasn’t perfect but at least it was closer mark than they had before.

After that, Anann helped get a few of the holes started, but after sometime she began walking around to check on everyone’s progress. She pointed some of the mistakes that had been made. Though there was nothing major, just a few misshapen holes or ones that had been dug too narrow. A couple were too wide at the top, and those posts would then have to be braced with around the base until the ground set in around them.

That had been easy the part, or at least easier than what was to come next as they began setting the posts in the ground. While the horses could be used to drag the logs into the place they didn’t have the rigging to use the horses to lift the logs upright, so righting the logs and setting them into the hole would be the work for the larger bodied canines at the build and filling the dirt back in around and tamping it would be best for those with nimbler hands and arms.

His eyes immediately focused on Isa, watching her come over. The want to come over and immediately nuzzle her, wrapping her in his arms, was pretty powerful. Forcing his eyes back Hadley realized that his hole was a little wider than it should have been. He tried placing more dirt in the hole to fix it, but it kept sliding down to the bottom, instead of sticking to the side. Helplessly he stared, hoping that it wouldn't be too big a problem.

A red flush covered his face as Sebastian indicated to him as an example for the depth of the hole. Standing still he found himself studying the dirt with great intrigue. The leader responded, Hadley's ears tucking close to his head in embarrassment. He let a string be tied to his shovel, unable to look at anyone with the attention that had been drawn to his rather large size. With his eyes on the ground he saw Cadmeia enter, his tail wagging a little at her appearance. Stepping over he scooped her out of the hole. Are you going to help? His voice was very quiet,

He moved further along with the work, finishing up the holes, his attention split between watching Isa and making sure Cadmeia was safe in the construction. Hadley avoided Sebastian, completely embarrassed by what the red male had said. With the posts coming in he was glad of his larger size, helping hoist them up while the smaller canines adjusted it so it lined up properly. He looked around carefully, not wanting to accidentally squish Cadmeia with a post.

Coeus peered towards the activity that was going on around the construction area. It was more activity than he was used to by far. There were several unfamiliar faces though he recognized Hadley. He seemed very preoccupied though with some she-wolf he didn't know. He was getting more used to traversing in his optime form, though it was a big transition from being in his lupus form all of the time. Everyone seemed to be starting at some task or another and he was in the back looking like a lost puppy. He had heard the end of his Luna's words but had never really made anything beyond simple, sharpened sticks. Rolling his shoulders self consciously, he decided that there would be no better time than know to learn. As he braced himself to make the approach, he talked himself into with each step he took. He was young, he was smart, it would be easy, it looked easy.

"Ma'am," he chirped, and was shocked by the meekness of his own voice. He cleared his throat, "Uh, is there anything I can help with?" He watched the others digging holes and shook head to himself, "I can dig holes! Yeah, that I can do." Scurrying away with all his dignity left behind him, he grabbed a shovel and was willing to bend his back for his pack. Feeling embarrassed by his display idiocy, he was determined to work extra hard. Though he hadn't realized how hard digging actually was. It wasn't running or riding, it was digging, something he had done very little of. It didn't take long for him to be huffing and puffing, with beads of sweat running down his brow and muzzle.

Pausing, he wiped the sweat from his brow. The others didn't seem to be having an easier time of it, rather they seemed to be ignoring their discomfort a bit more than him. Shaking his head in gruff admiration, he went back to work, his vision fleeting towards the unknown faces. Someday he would know them all, even if today was not that day.
