OOC: Promise posts will be longer. For now, please excuse the pathetic shortness :/ WC: 210

Adriana rode atop Dalia, wandering around Casa late in the afternoon and found herself at the bay. She slid off the mares back and let her roam around while Elroy stayed with Adriana. The structures didn’t seem too sturdy so she stepped onto the dock carefully. When the wood didn’t give, and seemed to be sturdy enough, Adriana walked across the dock. She sat down at the end of the dock and let her feet dangle off the end, just barely reaching the water. The marten climbed down her body, standing on her foot as he looked down at the water. His head turned side to side as he watched his reflection in the water. Adriana chuckled as he started chattering at the reflection. A little confused, Elroy looked up at her and back to the reflection. He pawed at the water, realized his mistake and climbed back up onto Adriana’s lap. She scratched the marten’s head affectionately as she smiled. He was still rather young and hadn’t seen his reflection very often. She looked around and saw a few boats there that were either docked there or had simply washed up to the bay. She hadn’t ever been in a boat before so the things were interesting to her.

For reference Grynn is a nearly 3 year old Peregrine Falcon, Oonu, Marahute and Skylar are her 3 month old chicks.

It had taken a while but Neela had finally found somewhere that she disliked in her new home. The section of cove that the Meria was currently moored up in was creepy enough to begin with, dilapidated wooden houses crumbling in a way that would have screamed "Horror Movie" to oen who knew such things, but the boats added to it. A wide variety of boats, from small fishing boats to sleek human builds to even one of two wooden boats that looked to be of Luperci design had all sunk or beached themselves on the rocks here.

While Neela knew that it was most likely these boats had just been abandoned here and sunk when age had taken its toll she still couldn't shake how much the area looked like the Butcher's Cove, a section of coastline near her old home where tides and rocks had sunk many a boat and claimed many a Luperci life. Neela intended to move the Meria soon to a better equipped section of coast, closer to the Fort and with buildings that would actually be less useful.

And less wrecked boats. Less wrecked boats always improved the scenery for a sailor.

A loud clunk also brought to mind the other gripe Neela had with this part of the coast. The rotting wood making up the dock was too weak to hold the old human rubber rings, tires she remembered after a second, that Neela had grown accustomed to using to soften the impact of her boat agaisnt the dock. In-fact Neela was loading the tires she intended to use t the new location onto her boat at the moment.

Unfortunately such a task was proving rather difficult. The Meria was a large boat, 35 feet long and sitting in the water just taller than Neela even with its current heavy load, Neela needed to remove her belongings to her newly renovated house as well at some point. Getting the heavy tires up onto the deck was a hard task and Neela's latest idea seemed doomed to fail. The collie had rigged up a pulley with one end of the rope attached to the stack of tired and the other in her hands as she prepared to jump off the Meria.

Loe and behold the attempt simply left Neela dangling several feet off the ground, the tires resolutely attached to said ground firmly. As she was dangling here Neela noticed a commotion off in the distance. Oonu and Marahute were flying around a previously unnoticed figure sitting on the docks, the Peregrine Falcon chicks screeching as they swooped in as though they were going to attack.

Just as Neela was about to step in and call them off a louder screech sounded from the side and a larger figure shot towards the two errant chicks as their mother, Grynn, flew onto the scene. After knocking the chicks off course several times and screeching at them they reluctantly followed her towards Neela, leaving the poor canine alone.

An unimpressed snort came from besides Neela and the collie looked up towards Skylar who was perched on the boat near her and glaring at her siblings. "Son unos idiotas, ¿eh Skylar? No sea demasiado duro con ellos, que tienen buenas intenciones." Neela chucked "Besides, that's your mother's job" she continued, switching to English. Like Grynn Neela was teaching the chicks to understand and speak both Spanish and English high speech and Skylar, more apt to stay still and actually learn, was taking to it better than the others.

Suddenly Neela realised that she was still hanging from the rope and dropped down embarrassedly, feeling Skylar's weight land on her shoulder soon after. She raised a hand, waving towards the figure, "Hey! Sorry about that, you alright?"

Elroy was sitting atop her shoulder, chattering away. The martin wasn’t particularly fond of the birds flying around him and Adriana, or any bird really. Adriana loved birds but was still struggling speaking with them. It was simple for her to communicate with Elroy and Dalia but birds were still somewhat difficult. Adriana lifted a hand to stroke the martin’s head, attempting to calm him down. A larger Falcon, assumed to be the chicks mother, knocked the two around a bit before the three flew towards a female, who seemed to be the same age as Adriana. She quickly stood, not wanting to be rude to the fae. Stepping forward with a smile on her face, Adriana spoke slowly, trying to get the words right. Hello miss. Am fine, not bother me. I like birds. A frown formed on the woman’s face, upset with the horrible attempt at speaking English. It was thick with her French accent as she tried to apologize. I apologize, still learn English. Yet another failed attempt at speaking.

Once she was close enough, Adriana gave the woman a small bow of the head in greeting. She smiled and held out a hand to the bird on the woman’s shoulder, attempting to give the bird a small greeting in low speech but having difficulties with it. Elroy made it clear that he was not interested in the birds by completely ignoring their presence. Adriana smirked and introduced herself and her companions as Dalia stepped closer to the docks. I am Adriana, or Rina. Either fine. This Elroy and Dalia. The English still wasn’t very good but it would improve with practice. Perhaps she could find someone who knew both French and English that could help her better as well.

Sucky post is sucky Sad

Thankfully the woman was both unharmed and not even distressed by the birds. In fact she seemed more distressed about the fact that she had had a hard time speaking English than the fact that two adolescent falcons had been threatening her. "Its no problem, don't worry." she said, trying to reassure her, "I grew up speaking Spanish before English, I know the feeling." Not technically true as learning a language at a young age was much easier than learning one later in life. Not that Neela actually knew this of course.

Skylar simply blinked in a confused manner at the woman's attempt to deliver a greeting, Neela had been learning falcon low speech specifically for most of her life and was still having trouble getting Skylar used to her way of speaking, but Neela reacted more, returning the dip of the head offered to her. "Nice to meet you Rina, I'm Neela and this little lady-" Neela flicked an ear towards Skylar, "-is Skylar. The other two chicks are Oonu and Marahute and the mother is Grynn." Neela pointed the birds out best they could as she spoke; while Grynn was relatively still Oonu and Marahute were chasing each other in circled for some indecipherable reason and made rather hard targets to point at.

"So, what brings you out here today then?" Neela asked, leaning casually against a nearby wooden pole. The Meria had no fish loaded onboard which meant all the things that needed moving could be done at her leisure, allowing for her to take a break or two if she so wished and she was certainly prepared to sacrifice a bit of time in order to get to know a pack mate a bit better. Much as she liked Tony she needed to make friends in Casa; leaving oneself with only a single companion rarely turned out well.
