Rose on the Grey

The black feline sauntered down the Halifax streets, his tail straight in the air with a lilt at the end - at the moment, he had little cares in the world. The sun was returning - spring had warmed its way through winter, causing it to disappear and replacing it with the approaching summer sun, which he always welcomed. Although his coat was black, it was also thin, and surviving the winter was always tough on Element.

Soaking up the sunlight away from his library, he suddenly stopped, stretching out his forelegs in front of him and curling his tail all the way down to his back; he let out a small "mroww" of pleasure when his muscles loosened and relaxed, releasing the tension of being cooped up inside all the time. With that stretch out of the way, he quickly stretched his back legs before continuing his stroll across the abandoned city.

they took for granted your soul

Levent had come back to the city, and it already seemed to hold more interesting treasures for him than before. He’d conversed briefly with the girl and her troupe of smaller animals and gone lurking through a ton of old buildings to salvage what he could. His treasures consisted of a mirror wanting polish and something even more intricate and precious than that—a handgun. It had been tucked very safely away in a case and had avoided wear, although he knew that it would be impossible to use the weapon. It didn’t matter, though; he tucked it away with its case just the same, and moved gladly through the streets.

“I heard there was a library here somewhere, too,” the Turkish wolf mused aloud to his companion, who dragged his paws as he followed along. The white tomcat looked bored with the current journey, and even mention of books did not perk him up although he could read almost as well as his friend. After a while, the silence became too much for the chattering canine to bear, and he frowned as he looked down at his small companion. “What’s wrong, arkadaş?”

The feline frowned, staring down at the cracked pavement as he walked. “I’m thinking about London,” he admitted. He said nothing else, only picked himself up and trotted along faster.

Upon turning the corner, however, Wilson let out a surprised mew and jumped back. Wondering what had startled him, Levent took brisk strides to reach his friend. His brows lifted as he saw a second cat—a black tom with deep emerald eyes. Wilson was gazing at him as if he’d never seen one of his own species before, which made Levent chuckle lightly, greeting the stranger with a meow of low speech as casually as he might greet a fellow luperci.
