Vinátta
#1
Potential Pack Name: Vinátta [meaning Friendship]
Basic Idea for Pack:
Vinatta was founded by a group of like-minded wolves, influenced by a meeting with a priestess who suggested an alternative belief to those already existing. Taking influence from Norse mythology, as well as the ancient civilisations way of living, Vinatta has been transported back into times of simple living, fair trade and close bonds. The Norse Religion is not mandatory, nor a prerequisite for joining Vinatta and they accept wolves from all religions, as well as atheists who follow none. A heavy influence is placed on intra-pack trading, while they strive to produce goods that can be traded with other packs. Companionship and strong bonds with one another is strived for, and Vinatta will become famous for the parties they host, open to others as well as those in the pack.

What sets it apart from the current packs?:
Vinatta can be compared to other packs in their wish for a cohesive, simple living with strong family bonds, which is really what every family group wants. The introduction of the Norse religion, while not mandatory, with the allowance of different religions, gives Vinatta a structure to it, whilst also allowing freedom of beliefs. The relaxed nature of the pack is an asset to those who wish to be involved in a pack where rules are infrequent, but aimed at the peaceful cohabitation of like-minded individuals. The concept of the Godja (who acts as a religious guidance as well as non-religious counselor) is unique to Vinatta. Most of all, what makes Vinatta a unique place to live is their ‘live and let live’ motto- the rank system is a relaxed and loose structure (with an option for your character to remain jobless if nothing suits them), their acceptance of every race, their lack of oddities, we are a pack who wish to live and grow in friendship with one another.

Rank ideas:
Vinatta’s ranks are based off of the Nine Noble Virtues of a faction in Norse Mythology. A joint leadership (Virding), usually a male and a female pair, who are supported by a council of three (Sannindi), who are trusted members and are usually the ‘heads’ of their chosen path. A specialised rank sits below the Sannindi- the Godja is the pack priest/ess and counselor, available for spiritual guidance as well as support for those who do not follow any religion. Ranks are based on jobs, although co-ranks will be given for those who wish to have extra jobs. Members will choose their ‘path’ based on their skills and desire to fulfill that rank. Members start at a standard rank, and will advance to a Loyal rank when they have made 20 posts. At this point, they will be able to work towards their chosen path (three threads associated with their chosen path).

HONOR- virðing (leader spots) [2]
TRUTH- sannindi (scholar types/council members) [3]
Godja beneath the council (priest/ess and counselor for non-religious) [1]

COURAGE- Araedi (warriors and guardians) [unlimited]
DISCIPLINE/CONTROL- Vald (hunters and scouts) [unlimited]
ENDURANCE- Eljun (healers and scholars) [unlimited]
INDUSTRIOUSNESS (WORK)- Starfa (traders and merchants) [unlimited]

SELF- RELIANCE (FREE)- frjáls (undecided rank, does a bit of everything) [2]
LOYALTY- Hollr (path-choosing rank)
HOSPITALITY- Risna (standard rank)
YOUTH- Aeska (puppy rank)

Pack customs and society:
While many packs are based in trade, Vinatta aim to build a market area within their packlands, where any can come to trade items instead of having to travel all the way to Freetown. As well as building a market square, Vinatta will have a village hall where all ceremonies/parties will be held. Our pack employs the use of a priestess, or priest, who offers In Character guidance to all, without the member having to worry about implications. Vinatta will introduce a ‘welcome pack’ idea, where all new members (upon successful joining) are approached by a member of the council and given a basic survival pack, so that the member has something to start with. As is necessary, Vinatta will hold ‘meets’ in the village hall, where any member is free to speak up about anything that is of concern, with no fear that they will be ridiculed or shot down. Vinatta have discovered a small settlement of houses partially buried in the hillside, with grass covering them. Blended into the landscape, these partially buried houses will serve as Vinatta’s dens. (see here; http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxabanQ6...2zdh7o1_500.jpg)

Just wanted to add that Vinátta means Friendship in Old Norse. <3

-Edit-: Sure Honey, edit it in after I mention it and make me seem like a redundant tard. ;_;

and -subliminalmessage- maybe Zero should come back with Barry. I mean, wut?

I think this is a great idea, and well written. A perfect place for people that enjoy normalcy!
#4
Depending on weather this pack goes up, I might have Alessandra leave Salsola and come here, for she is from Norway. Maybe Emmanuelle too. Big Grin

<33 Thank you very much guys, its great to get a little feedback!

Yaaaay for characters from Norway, for they are epic!

Trade, friendship, family... It's a different religion, but it does come across as being a Norse themed cda.
Just saying....

I see the difference in the fact that this is not based on art, which CdA was so heavily founded on and the fact that CdA's trade is deeply routed to the aspect of the ship they built and this would be more of a market place or central location for other travelers from what i can gather...

All packs work with trading, and say... CD is hugely based on friendship and family... a similarity but not in anything but the theme of co-existing in peace and living in a way that would not cause self-destruction...

I can understand that there are some similarities with other packs, but I think it is always going to be extremely difficult to create a pack that is completely unique, and doesnt hold similar values to other packs. Especially as there have been so many packs on 'Souls, its an impossible task.

It was certainly never our intention to copy Cercatori, and I would like to point out that trading is natural among large communities such as 'Souls. Trading, and trade routes, are not the main focal point of Vinátta however and we hope that it doesn't come across as so.

Finally, the point about Vinátta having strong familial bonds and an emphasis on friendship are natural values for a group of mammals. Even Anathema and Salsola, who are perhaps on the darker end of the spectrum of current packs, have strong family bonds.

I hope that we don't appear to have 'copied' anything from anyone else, it honestly was never our intentions with the limitations of creating a pack that is completely unique. Thank you for you input Vannah, it has helped to highlight some points that might have been a little unclear.

I love the Norse themes but I do have to agree with Vannah a bit. ^^' CdA is largely based on trade, having made trading posts within it and using a caravan and ship to trade and establish itself as a trading pack; it also hosts a largr amounts of celebrations and parties.

It was founded on art but the focus has changed extensively to trading, celebration, good pack relations, etc. ^^ It is difficult to make a totally unique pack, I agree, and making a broad pack that all can join is also very difficult, which was my aim in making CdA a trading pack. :O

What Honey and I had envisioned for Vinátta in terms of trading was more of an intra-pack open air market. Anyone play Skyrim here? It could be comparable to (or similar) to the whiterun market in the middle where you can find a bunch of little stands.

Bad screenshot, but a little something like this: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2011...Whiterun_01.jpg

Ie. the pack's herbalists could set up their little stand in the morning if they have anything to sell, etc. Same with the hunters and the extra meat they've obtained.

It would be nothing like a caravan nor what CdA is all about; our apologies if it came out that way. Hope the picture can offer some form of guidance.

And ultimately, the pack is based on the nine noble virtues found in our ranking system and quoted below. The trading would be only be a portion of industriousness:

Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Industriousness, Self-Reliance and Perseverance. The family is greatly valued and honored. They reject any form of discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, language, nationality, race, sexual orientation, or "other divisive criteria".

Thats amazing Em, I've added you up! Thank you for being interested! <33
#19
How many people do you need to actually meet the requirements of the pack?
#20
Now Rosie got me to think about it...

Dawnrunners and Stormbringers = Gray Manes and Battle-Borns? IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.
