OOC:Ethereal Eclipse, near the big lake. Dated May 11th WC: 495

A loud screech sent the lupus formed Hotaru flying out of her house. Fawkes, who had always hated the idea of another bird in his master's life, was irritated and irrational. He had been stuck on egg duty for a while and couldn't fly as much as he was used to. The red-tailed hawks wasn't made for egg sitting and he clearly showed it with his irate attitude. Hotaru offered no words of scolding to his behavior and simply left with her tail between her legs and her ears pinned to her head. An angry Fawkes was not something she would mess with. He would calm down soon enough, but Fawkes required a little space and the blind wolf was more than happy to give it to him.

Hotaru decided that while she was out she might as well get to hunting. Somewhere far away where she wouldn't have to deal with Fawkes. As the timber female moved easily along her familiar trails she picked up her own scent and followed the path out of the pack lands. Some were pack trails, while others were trails she had made herself and had become well worn due to their constant use. The blind wolf moved at a steady trot for several hours. A clear and distinct map had formed in her mind and made travel that much easier. Her pace was easy, but quick, and her mind wandered as she traveled.

There were so many things that fought for her attention. First and foremost was her travel with Skye and the members of Casa Di Cavalieri. The issue with Fawkes and her chick wandered though her thoughts, but was quickly pushed aside as she thought of Terra. It had been a long time since Hotaru had seen the young coywolf and although they had met during Hotaru's caravan trip, she wanted to see her friend in a less formal situation. In the off chance that they might run into each other, the grey wolf turned towards were she believed Cour des Miracles was located. Hotaru had never been to the pack herself, but she had talked to others and managed to get an idea of where it might lie.

After walking for several hours, the scent of water filled the air and the blind wolf turned towards the scent's origin. Hotaru hadn't even tried to hunt, despite the fact that she considered her trip to be a hunting expedition. She wasn't in the mood for anything in particular and simply enjoyed her long walk. Hotaru continued to walk until her paws hit the wet surface of a lake. She moved carefully into its depths, not daring to go farther than her knees. The day wasn't hot, but the cool lake water felt pleasant against her skin and she enjoyed the sensation. She moved slowly through the water and hardly splashed. Her tail hung in the air and betrayed her happiness as it wagged intermittently. Red ears flicked back and forth as her nose hovered over the water's surface.

It was a beautiful day. No, scratch that. It was the kind of day that made one want to laze around, splash in the water, and simply take in everything that was there, the sun shining down with a cool wind whipping off the excess heat. Terra trotted a short way away from where she'd parked herself and Skoll. She couldn't go too far, responsible for his safety and all that, but the fresh scent of water promising a cool swim dashed the hopes of her keeping him in eyesight. Howling distance would work just fine. She could get there in time.

Approaching the lake Terra's tail wagged, spotting Hotaru. She let out a cheerful yip announcing her presence. Still heading for the water Terra splashed in, sending a cascade towards her friend. Lapping at the water Terra paddled around, letting it soak into her before returning to shore to shake herself off. Hey! It's been a while. She'd seen Hotaru briefly while trading, but not enough for a visit. Just enough time to get herself into trouble and back out of it. At least Hotaru didn't know about the cougar.

Hotaru couldn't see the sun or the clouds in the sky, but she could feel the sun's rays as they warmed her back and the cool wind as it gently caressed her face. The birds soothed her ears with their music and the water lapped gaily against her legs as she moved gently through its body. The world had taken on spring's perfume as the flowers bloomed high in the trees or on the flowers below. The day was beautiful, so much so that even her fight with Fawkes could not mar the pleasant experience.

Soft footsteps and the scent of a coywolf alerted the blind wolf to her company. Her own tail wagged a little harder as she recognized the distinct smell of her friend. A loud splash was quickly followed by a buffeting wave that wrapped itself around the grey female's body. Hotaru shook herself before moving deeper into the lake. "Good to see you too Terra." Red ears flicked to the side as she listened to Terra wade deeper into the lake. Hotaru, didn't dare go farther than her chest, but moved around and enjoyed herself. Occasionally she dipped her head into the water and brought her head with at an immense speed. Water splashed satisfying around her and she shook her head briefly before returning to the shore.

Terra was right behind her and the two females reached the shore at nearly the same time. The grey female shook her body and stood upon the soft grass. Her head was inclined towards Terra, but her eyes stared blankly towards the distance. "Far too long. How have you been my friend?" Hotaru's voice was slightly sarcastic as she talked about their meeting. Hotaru was in a playful mood, and her luck had turned for the better. Once she was done speaking, the timber wolf began to search for a good spot to rest. There was a soft patch of ground that was adorned with the heat of the sun and Hotaru gratefully lowered her lupus body to the ground. Her tail flicked wistfully against the ground as she enjoyed the simple splendors of her dark world.

Hotaru was definitely the wiser of the pair, choosing not to go as deep as Terra. For all she'd known something could have come up and attacked her. The coyote wasn't an amazing swimmer after all. She grinned at the words, tail wagging mockingly. So much of what she did and said was lost to the blind wolf, tragically. Hotaru managed to keep up anyways, so that was just fine. Terra wouldn't be able to be her friend if she couldn't keep up with the troublesome female after all. Terra didn't act gently towards her friends.

Well. It was quite the meal you provided. The sheep had tasted absolutely fantastic! Terra wasn't aware that others might see her slaughter of the sheep as a waste of resource, but the meat had been so good. Even if she had known, Terra would probably have done the exact same thing. While Hotarue sunned herself out Terra wandered about, making sure to stay within earshot of where Hotaru was, enjoying the blind wolf's company.
