This is a pack formation thread and should be a priority for all of those involved! We're going to see the hobbit houses!

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

Elation was a word that Saul rarely used, but felt often. He had been elated a week ago when he'd woken up with Lilin in his arms, before their consciences had kicked in and they're argued. They'd made it up though and their thoughts had turned to Saul's discovery. The reason for his discovery wasn't so great, but following Lilin, and getting lost, had been a good choice. The lands he had slipped in to were a place Saul hadn't explored before and he wished he had. The houses that were half submerged in the ground had been intriguing and Saul had explored them thoroughly before deciding that they appeared to be safe. Despite the ravages of time, the short, stocky buildings covered in turf were well built, strong enough to withstand the worst of the weather and most of them had their original glass in the windows. Saul had been elated then.

It was nothing compared to the buoyancy he felt now, moving through the landscape with his family beside him. This was just an expedition and therefore it was just them, no belongings. They walked in a group although it was clear that Saul and Lilin had taken up the point of the group and were leading them northward. The lands they were heading towards might be their new home, and Saul found it incapable of wiping the smile off of his face. His fingers itched to reach over and take Lilin's hand, but he knew it wouldn't be appreciated. Instead, he found himself 'helping her over rocks and roots' every now and then, despite their travelling through a relatively flat area. He could see the smirk on her face as he reached out again, taking her hand and 'helping her over a fallen branch' so that she wouldn't fall over.

They'd been travelling for most of the day, straight through the Dampwoods, skirting Inferni territory and making a straight line for the remains of Amherst and the green lands beyond. The houses he'd spotted had been in an area that he thought would be close to the coast, secluded in the trees. They'd stopped at midday for a meal and Temeraire and Elias had rushed off to play while the adults had talked and Saul had informed them of the rest of their journey. He could feel the excitement in the air, especially from Bran and Niernan. Sending his cousins a grin, especially Niernan who seemed to understand about his and Lilin's messed up relationship, but jumping up and carrying on.

Afternoon was beginning to get into full swing by the time the humps of grass came into view and Saul turned, almost jumping up and down as he pointed and they emerged. The houses were just as he remembered, stout, strong, unaffected by the landscape around them. He supposed that it was because they were part of the landscape, half built, half grown into the area. The little village of houses was surrounded by trees and sat in a relatively hilly area, where some of the buildings were built directly into the hills and others on the ground around them, covered with earth and grass. Turning back to his family, Saul allowed a grin to etch onto his lips. What do you think? He asked, a little breathless but brimming with happiness.

Crimson Dreams was no more. It was with a heavy heart that Colibri left their former borders, realizing that once again she had waited too long. The pack had disbanded recently, enough that there were still scent trails leading here and there from the traveling wolves. She didn't trace any of them though, not even the one she had been hoping to stumble across all this time. Instead, the loner migrated back to the Dampwoods, mulling about recent events. Being homeless was destroying her. She was bitter and lonely, tormented by the memories of happier times and being with family and friends. She needed someone, anyone, to save her from herself.

And that was exactly what Saul and Lilin were doing. Lilin, her beautiful long-lost sister, and Saul, the gentle Dahlian soul who offered to accept her into their fold. At first she had been skeptical of joining a newly-forming pack; it would be hard to trust all of the unfamiliar faces, hard to lower her guard after so many seasons of living alone. But the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to try. Alder's words of encouragement echoed in her mind -- this would be a good start to repairing herself, slowly but surely. When the traveling group passed through the forest on their expedition, she met them with a shy smile and fell in behind them, quietly joining their ranks. She made her decision.

Coli did not know the names of the big males lumbering behind Saul, or the small children darting playfully about, but the excitement in the air was infectious. When the group arrived at the hilly area, afternoon light revealing the camouflaged houses swathed in grass, her heart soared with hope. "They're beautiful," she breathed, brushing her hair from her eyes. Her bobtail stirred happily, blue eyes bright with cautious optimism. This place... could be a home.

WC:: 470 - Woooo! Hobbit houses!

So far the day had been excellent, they may have been walking for hours but they had had fun doing it. Saul and Lilin had automatically taken point and Bran and Nier had shared a look, one of those looks where the brothers could communicate tomes without saying a single word. They had fallen into step with each other and happily followed their cousins, shoving, poking and prodding each other as they went, with Ciaran alternating between trotting alongside and riding on Niernans shoulders. Nier had been surprised when a brown furred and bob-tailed wolf had joined their train, but she seemed to be accepted by Saul and Lilin, so she was accepted by him and Bran. Truth be told, Nier could not help shooting glances at the female wolf, trying to guess who she was.

His distraction hadn't lasted long though, as Bran demanded his attention. There was one moment on their journey where Nier had distracted Bran enough that his brother had fallen flat on his face after tripping over a protruding rock. Nier had suffered for laughing and was now ruefully rubbing his butt where Bran had kicked him hard, but Ciaran, ever the smart one, had bailed as soon as he saw the playful expression on Brans face. Nier had become so involved in the little competition between him and his brother that he hadn't noticed that Saul had stopped. Ciarans yowl grabbed his attention and he whirled round to see that he had wandered on past Saul and that his breathess cousin was about to address their little family.

Nier leaped back to Brans side where he tried to look as innocent as possible, wincing when Ciaran used his claws to climb up to his shoulder. Sauls question made him spare a cursory glance at the general area, he was fascinated by the humps that indicated where the odd little houses laid. He grinned at his grey cousin, mischief and the desire to explore shining in his eyes, I think it's beautiful Saul. I could see myself living here. And it looks like there are enough houses for all of us and more. He stepped up to Sauls side, aiming a paw at his shoulder in a friendly clap. Barely witheld excitement shone in his cyan eyes, Are we all right to have an explore? I wanna see the inside of one of those houses.

Nier was already shuffling away from Saul and couldn't stop himself from breaking away from the group and sprinting up the hill, Ciaran falling from his shoulder and yowling his protest as he gathered himself up and sprinted after his wolf companion. Nier crested the hill and panted slightly as he looked out over the hilly village. He flattened himself against the top of the hill and gazed down at the mantle over the door way, the wood was beautiful, even after all this time left alone. He flipped over his own tail and landed facing the door, he leaned to the side and peered in through one of the dark and dusty window panes. Yeah, I could definitely live here. He sighed to himself, a small and contented smile playing at his muzzle.

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

Their travelling was an easy, joyful occasion despite the fact that they would be walking for hours. He found himself exceptionally glad for Niernan and Bran's playful attitude, their tomfoolery as they walked behind him and Lilin. He could hear their playfulness, the commotion as Bran hit the floor. It was perhaps all in a days work for the two of them- rough housing with one another, laughing and joking, relieving any tension that might have arisen from the long trek. Saul knew that the two of them would be needed on their return journey- Elias and Temeraire would be tired and perhaps grumpy, they would need the two of them to play with, or perhaps just to carry them. Saul smiled softly, before his attention was captured by the rustling of the trees around him, the emergence of the female he'd met a few weeks ago in Halifax.

Saul greeted Colibri with a soft, accepting smile and a soft 'Hello' as she fell into step behind them. It was a seamless introduction to the group- no words were spoken yet and no introductions were given. Saul was glad that Bran and Niernan continued their fooling around as they approached the Commune of the Salmon, where their possible new homes were situated. The quiet yowl of Ciaran caused Niernan to stop his march- he'd continued on when Saul had stopped. A soft snort and a dip of his head was his only acknowledgement, the soft crinkling of his nose to show his amusement as he asked his question. To his surprise, it was Colibri who answered first and Saul glanced across at her, a warm smile of thanks and encouragement given.

Niernan took his turn, a rather lengthy response compared to the two words given by the bobtailed female. Saul nodded in agreement with his cousin, his tail flickering back and forward. If we were to ever get large enough to need more, I'm sure we could work out how these work and build something similar. He offered, his brain already strategising about how they would make more if they were needed. As always, Niernan asked if the two of them could explore and Saul laughed softly. Go ahead, have a look around. He murmured, watching the boys move away, cat yowling after them. He chuckled, feeling a paternal love towards them (despite their slight superiority in age) before he turned back to Colibri.

It's great to see you Colibri, I'm very glad you decided to join us. A few introductions- those two over there are my cousins, Niernan and Bran He pointed them out as he said their names. This here is Temeraire, my son He offered, pride in his voice as he picked up the large pup trying to escape with his friend to explore. And his friend is Elias Rosen. Ezra here is his father and a good friend. He offered, indicating towards Ezra as he spoke, a soft smile on his face before he replaced Temeraire on the ground and watched as the two scampered off. And you, of course, know the beautiful Lilin He murmured, eyes dark on her body, a look that was both adoring and scorching. Taking a shuddering breath, he turned back, spotting Niernan peering through a window and grinning at his cousins curiosity about their possible new homes.

[html]Hurray!

The journey had taken a lot out of the secui. He didn’t have the burden of carrying Elias until the very end, when the boy’s littler-than-normal legs couldn’t take much more. The stunted boy rested on his fathers massive back for the last leg of the trip. However, once Saul stopped the group, the boy found a new surge of excitement and energy. The russet pup once again met up with his beloved pal, and was gone from his father’s side.

A new creature came into their midst, who Saul promptly introduced to the group. When his family was mentioned, the hybrid gave a deep nod and a small smile to the newcomer. Finally, they were whole. The group was stable and they had arrived at their new home.

“Pleased to meet you,” He said to the newcomer. But as Saul continued on, Ezra raised his eyebrows at the way Lilin was introduced. Ezra remained blissfully ignorant about what that may or may not be going on between them. Instead of saying much else, the secui sat on the ground, curled tail tight around his large frame, wagging slightly.

The unfamiliar sound of a cat's yowling caused Coli to flinch, ears falling back nervously. She was, after all, a timid wolf at heart, despite all of her defensive posturing and occasionally sour attitude. She smoothed her palms against her fur, hoping no one noticed how tense she was. Luckily Saul turned to her with a smile, introducing their companions at last. She smiled gratefully, knowing then what a good leader he could be for them. He had a calming presence, and he would surely be good at settling disputes.

"Thank you for having me, Saul. I've no other place to be. Oh, I didn't know you had a son...! He's so sweet," she murmured, hesitantly waving to the dark-furred pup in his arms. Coli had always liked children, though she never had the opportunity to have her own. She wouldn't mind watching the little ones, if their parents had other duties. She would mention this to Lilin later, if they had a chance to talk.

Niernan and Bran were busily exploring the hillocks with their youthful energy, so she would have to meet them a little later, maybe once they calmed down. She wasn't sure she could keep up with them. Ezra and Elias Rosen stood out from the others with their handsome husky markings; she had known wolf-dogs before, like Leland and Slay from her former pack, and it made her nostalgic to see another canine wearing the same piebald mask. "Pleased to meet you too, Ezra... I'm Colibri Haki, Lilin's sister," she added, returning his courteous nod. It was a small relief to see that he was older like she was; all of their companions seemed so young. She still felt a brief flutter of insecurity - introductions always lead to such scrutiny - but she did her best to maintain a calm facade for all these new packmates. She just wanted to make a good impression; it was hard to start over.

(481) --

The fluidity of time was tangible in the presence of her friends and family. Lilin was indulging in the pleasures of their companionship, rejoicing at the prospect of a fresh start, and marveling in the attention that Saul would occasionally provide her with. It was a beautiful day and the gait in her step became more lively, assured and purposeful as they neared their destination. A moment of hesitation intervened when a helping hand was offered to her; her eyes had lowered instinctively, scanning the earthen ground for possible dangers until she eventually caught on to what was happening. After a while, it became a game of sorts; Lilin would seek out obstacles and give Saul a nudge if he forgot to assist her. Everything was done with badly concealed motives and stifled giggles. There was nothing subtle about their coquetry; and every once in a while, she’d spare a quick glance over her shoulder to see if anyone had caught on to their play.

The Soulstorm heir wasn’t a woman of many words but her sister’s unexpected arrival coaxed a mirthful smile out of her. “Coli! You made it!” she exclaimed, stopping in her tracks long enough to greet the eldest female with a wag of her brushy tail. While a hug or further acknowledgment might have been more appropriate for two reuniting siblings, both women were highly unfamiliar with customary family procedures. They still had a lot of catching up to do; comfort would come with time and effort. Their relationship would undoubtedly evolve but until then, Lilin sought comfort in the fact that they were bound by blood and willing to give this family thing a try. While she didn’t know much about their sire; there was no doubt in her mind that he had gifted them with indestructible willpower – they would make it through this because they were natural born survivors.

Bran and Niernan were up the hill before Saul could even finish his announcement; even the children had taken a moment of seize up the scenery before attempting to follow in their footsteps. She, however, suspected that their sudden excitement was quite largely influenced by the two brothers and not the actual prospect of moving again. Saul had previously explained that the houses were partially buried in the ground and she’d tried many times to envision the shelters before now but this went beyond all of her wildest expectations. It was Saul’s introduction that recaptured her attention, making it obvious that she should have taken the initiative to introduce her sibling. Lilin was about to get specific when Coli filled the blanks; seemingly having accepted their blood relation. A smile softened her features then, genuinely enjoying the fact that her sister was already conversing with the group. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go have a look inside.”

-chews on- ILU GAIZ

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

The near silent, but comfortable presence of Ezra beside them was something that Saul thought he took for granted. He remembered missing the husky when he'd gone, and the total elation he'd had when Ezra returned. Of course, it quickly turned to possessive jealousy when his grins had got a bit too much to handle, directed solely at Lilin. Saul thought that it had dampened somewhat and was entirely grateful to his friend for perhaps recognising the pairs claim on each other, no matter how silent and undefined it was. For her part, Lilin picked up quickly on what he was doing and he had been overjoyed when she'd played along, sometimes over theatrically. Their half-concealed smirks and giggles were obvious it would seem, but none of them commented on their antics. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that they were just happy the two of them were getting on and not avoiding one another.

Colibri, for her part, seemed to fit in gracefully to their rag-tag bunch and he found himself warming to her. She was a little nervous, but anyone would be in this situation. She only knew Saul and Lilin, and the two of them were the cohesive mix that held this party together. Bran and Niernan were perhaps more on Saul's 'side' than anything, and Ezra knew Lilin before Saul. It worked though and Saul knew that his family would stick together, no matter what. Her soft voice caused him to look up, a charming smile in place as she gave her thanks. It was unnecessary, but he accepted the sentiment with a soft dip of his head.

Well, you will learn that you will always be welcome with us, even if we are relative strangers at the moment! He paused, before processing her exclamation over Teme. He remembered that he hadn't actually said anything about his son when they'd met. He's wonderful... His conception wasn't exactly... conventional. But I wouldn't change him for the world. He glanced over to his son, mind throwing him foggy images of his one and only experience with sex. It had given him a son and he now had a healthy respect for the recreational passtime. Snorting softly, he glanced back up as Ezra spoke, expressing his pleasure at meeting Coli. She replied politely, introducing herself and her connection to Lilin.

The impatience in Lilin's voice caused Saul to grin over at her, his hand reaching out automatically to grasp hers and to squeeze it once before he nodded. Yes, lets have a look around He agreed, tail flipping back and forth as he released her hand and bounded forward, playful attitude and excitement manifesting in his bouncing steps and flashing tail. He moved a little further from Niernan ad Bran, fingers trailing on the wood of a door to one of the houses before he twisted the handle, allowing a loud creak to echo before he ducked inside.

WC:: 319 - Ahhhh! Crap post is crap!

Tan rimmed ears flicked over to the main group as Niernan heard his name uttered in Sauls quietly dominant tones. His eyes widened as he realised how rude he had been in completely ignoring their newest member, he didn't even know her name. He gave Bran a shove before turning back to the group and jogging over, scooping the large, dark tabby kitten into his arms as he went. Ciaran curled himself around Niernans neck, his grey green eyes surveying the world from the shadows under Niers muzzle. Nier heard his brothers heavy footfalls behind him and turned his head to smile at Bran, sending him one ofthose wordless messages with his eyes, a message that said Be Nice.

The young male avoided stopping directly in front of the brown wolf, coming to a stop a respectful distance to her left. He bowed his head to her politely, unable to stop an excited smile from playing about his lips, "I apologise for not introducing myself, I'm afraid my brother and I can become quite...." He glanced at Bran while he fished for a word, his brother had stopped slightly behind him, his brown furred arms loosely crossed over his chest and a broad grin showing all of his white teeth, "Exuberant." He finished. He had noticed that the petite earthen coated luperci seemed nervous of physical contact, her timid and reserved actions showing her shyness, but he offered a large and calloused paw nonetheless. "I'm Niernan Stormbringer, He lowered his muzzle slightly and bumped noses with the young cat, "This is Ciaran, my good friend. It's a pleasure to meet you." Bran gave a cursory wave from behind Niernan, announcing in his strong Irish tones "My brother failed to announce me, so I will. I'm Bran Stormbringer, the much more sexy, smart and funny of us." Nier chuckled sightly at Brans comment and rolled his cyan eyes, muttering "He wishes.

There was no doubt about it; Saul had a natural aura of leadership about him. He was the ying to her yang. They were different, no doubt, but their asymmetry came together to form the perfect partnership. His focus rested entirely on everyone's comfort and well-being, hers included; an undeniable quality that she lacked naturally. Colibri's introduction would logically have been hers to announce but it truthfully had not crossed her mind until Saul had taken the initiative to do so. An apologetic look was dedicated to her sister, putting her regret briefly on display; sincerely hoping she had not taken offence to her inattention.

If she could have blocked out the part where Temeraire's conception was brought about, she would have. Lilin had to agree, he was indeed a wonderful boy, but the circumstances leading up to his birth hadn't explicitely crossed her mind until now. She knew next to nothing about his mother, nor the relationship she'd had with Saul. The thought of him being intimate with someone else, even if they hadn't known each other at the time, brought forth feelings of uneasiness. Her mediterranean irises sought his gaze as he spoke, fervently scanning his green globes for sign of remaining affection for this unknown woman. This was a subject she'd have to approach eventually, if she ever mustered up the courage to do so.

The tension within her quelled with the touch of his hand against hers. Her insecurities weren't going to ruin this moment for any of them. Saul bounded forward and away from the brothers and Lilin lingered for a moment, attempting to gauge if her sister was feeling comfortable enough to either follow in their eager footsteps or stay with the boys. Everything seemed to be going well enough, so she made her way down to the burrowed houses; her path diverging from Saul's general direction. "Paws off- this one's mine!" she declared buoyantly, laying claim to one of the grassy humps furthest away from the rest. She didn't care what was inside; its location suited her just fine.

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

A feeling was beginning to settle itself over Saul's shoulders, a comforting and warm weight. At first, he couldn't put his paw on what this feeling way. Being here, with his family surrounding him, looking at the houses that could soon be their houses was an awe-inspiring feeling. He remembered being in Ichika, having no control over any situation and he'd hated it. The change had been too much and he'd left. It had been the best decision of his life, and it had led to this new creation. The respect that the others had for him settled the mantle of responsibility over his shoulders, which was also a comfort. While his birth was unfortunate and events had made the Stormbringer brood semi-orphans, Saul had always felt a responsibility for his siblings and he'd taken this mantle with pride. That was certainly what he was feeling right now, a sense of pride in those around him, in his self, in what they would create. He would perhaps come to feel the weight on his shoulders as a sense of rightness, responsibility, an utter conviction that this was where he fit.

His internal thoughts were halted as Niernan sauntered over, cat curled around him and his brother following- the typical image of the Brothers Grimm. He flashed Niernan an encouraging smile. It seemed he'd heard his introduction and had come over to introduce himself properly. Saul snickered softly at Niernan's description of the two before he'd moved towards the houses. His ears remained attuned to the rest of them, his family, his pack, although he hadn't missed the panic in Lilin's eyes when he'd mentioned about Temeraire's conception. Mentally, he noted this and reminded himself that he was going to have to talk to Lilin about that- he recognised that they were both insecure beings and it was something he hadn't really spoken about with anyone. It was especially important to be honest with her, and he would speak to her soon about that issue.

He turned, automatically seeking her out and watching as she slapped a hand on one of the houses, laying claim. He grinned, automatically looking to the houses around Lilin's claimed home to see which one might suit him and Teme. His son and Ezra's son could be heard not far away, rooting through one of the houses. And the atmosphere relaxed into comfort, a sense of home settling over all of them. He knew Colibri might be a little nervous, but he'd hoped they had made her feel welcome. Niernan and Bran had certainly greeted her with their usual foolishness, which was a good thing. She may as well know what they were like now, while she still had a chance to run. He hoped she didn't however, he sincerely hoped she took it in her stride and joined them. Because Saul had found his niche.

The afternoon waned into evening as the group explored the houses, trying to take in just how many there were and perhaps laying claim to them as Lilin had done. Saul made no choices yet, keeping a careful watch over the wolves who placed themselves in his care. His eyes more often than not found Lilin, a sparkle in his eyes. This was their vision, and soon they would be living here, a permanent place where they could raise their family, grow old and die here. They remained in the houses that night, camping out and sharing hot hunks of meat that Niernan had managed to catch when Saul had asked him to find some dinner. He knew Niernan enjoyed hunting and his cousin had returned with three pheasants and two rabbits. Their family was happy, healthy and whole- there was nothing else that needed to be said.
