Spring
Just out of reach

Storm clouds loomed over head and the wind brought with it tidings of rain. Kiara raised her muzzle to the sky and took deep breaths. Lucia and Kohaku both stared curiously at the sky. Kohaku leaned his head back as far as he could and immediately tumbled to the side. He quickly stood up and looked around to see if anyone had witnessed his clumsiness. However, neither his mother or his sister were paying attention to the colorful puppy and he smiled before starting his exploration for the day.

Nervous sapphire eyes stared at the sky, but it wasn't the impending rain that had the young mother worried. The rain was still several hours off and Kiara doubted it would be a heavy downpour. What had her worried was the fresh scent of canines on the wind. The scents were mixed and muddled, but the snow wolf was sure there was at least a few. Her ears flicked back and she turned her apprehensive gaze towards the puppies. "Inside, both of you." Immediately, whines and protests came from both puppies as their mother herded them into the den. Kohaku had to be told three times to stay before he actually listened.

Once her puppies had been hidden away in the den, Kiara set out to scout the area. The scent of new canines concerned the young mother so she set out to find the origin as quickly as possible. Strangers were dangerous and could be a threat to her helpless babies. Her search led the tiny female to the Colchester Quarter, once a haven for Ichika. It used to house many of the Ichikan residents as well as the most popular towns. Memories swelled and threatened to overrun her mind in a nostalgic sea. Kiara growled and shook her head furiously. She didn't have time to be sad or nostalgic, she had a mission to accomplish.

As she moved through the old Ichika territory, she made as little sound as possible. The alabaster female moved with a hunter's grace and from far off could appear to be a ghost. Her ears stood high an alert while the breeze ruffled her fur. The wind started in her favor, but soon turned against her as she moved through the cities. She became lost, unable to pick up or detect the scents of the strangers. Kiara wandered around the cities near the beach, not sure where to go or how to find the potential danger.
