When my hope began to rise

it should say "Cider Barn"

The camp above the old dreaming territory was becoming larger then Anu had ever expected. In the deepest place of her heart, Anu had believed that she would be alone. When she had made the decision she had believed that her sons would go to other packs. Anu had pictured them kissing her forehead, whispering good byes and leaving her to the unclaimed territory where she would demand to remain. Alone.

It was not the case. Oak stayed; Cypress claimed a devoted position at her side. Others had even come to them too. Artemis, a daughter of Savina, had not gone with her mother and then Oak had gone to collect Cassia too. Her thoughts went to Tayui, a friend that she still wished to give a home to… Though they were not all knit tightly into a group that slept side by side, she still felt like they were some sort of a unit. Even if it was just in her mind. It was hard to dismiss her leading habits.

She moved even further north, looking for a safe place to settle down and allow her mind to recover from the pains of the disbandment. She passed old building after building, rock formations that gave shelter or large bands of trees that could hide a pack twice the size of Crimson Dreams at their peak.

It was never enough though. She would return to the campfire Oak kept fueled with logs and branches after a day of searching and with nothing... Anu could not simply let go of the past completely, and she could not venture away from what she knew as comfort.

Cypress walked beside her, trekking loyally in a venture that Anu had only loosely explained. Even though the mother had not given much of a justification her son still stood beside her. He could have gone anywhere he pleased, but he remained with her.

They moved in silence mostly, scanning the lands and checking for other loners and for pack borders. Anu remembered how to track and roam as a loner, her years as a wanderer coming pack to her surprisingly fast. She would have to teach Cypress the methods of avoidance; they no longer had the pack as a backing safety. They skirted around Cercatori D'Arte and even came close to Casa di Cavalieri.

A town opened up to them, small houses with large patches of green between them. Broken streets and hills of scattered farms caused her hope to grow. It was a quiet place, nestled between two packs that had been either neutral or kind to the Dreamers. She wondered if it could be a place to rest. A post stood at the corner of a cracked and half dissolved roadway, a sign nailed to it and cocked oddly. The woman slowed and walked up to it wandering what it said.
