What if I nursed this infection?

Backdated to uh, July 29th? 30th? 31st? You pick! XD

A warm breeze blew across the harbor, swaying delicate waves of mauve and salmon pink toward the shoreline. It was a beautiful evening and under normal circumstances, Alexey would've been quite fascinated by the pastel-colored sky. But not today. She did not have time to spend on such trivial things. Her heart was heavy with culpability; one of the many consequences of her actions. The two-year-old was being punished for betraying her sister; her own flesh and blood. She had recently fought with Adelaida over her sudden allegiance to Dahlia de mai, and although Lexey did not regret becoming a member of the pack, she did regret not telling her sibling about it. Time heals all wounds; that's what their sire used to say whenever things got rough. The Filix could only hope he was right. Perhaps all Adelaida needed was some time to cool off.

She couldn't help it. The little wolfess paced back and forth nervously, honey-colored eyes absent-mindedly staring at the ground below. As if her personal problems weren't enough, this talk of an upcoming war with coyotes had her on the edge of insanity. She was mentally preparing herself for what was to come: one or two days from now, something big was going to happen, and the outcome had to be positive. There was no room for any mistakes. Alexey knew what her job was, and although she didn't know much about fighting; she would strive for perfection and a flawless execution.

Firefly knew she would be in trouble as soon as Cercelee got wind of the fight between her and Ember, but no one within the packlands knew that they were siblings and she had a feeling right now that that secret would be out in the open in no time at all. She was in a bit of a foul mood, she'd warned her sister of what would happen if she kept pushing her but the coal hued lady wouldn't listen and finally outright demanded that they settle it right then and there. Firefly had given her what she'd wished for and her older sister had run for it all after losing.

She'd really fucked up this time and she knew it. She wanted to blame it all on Ember for her childish antics and on Haku for never going outside the playing field of the games that they danced through. She knew she could handle everything with Ember, but she hadn't realized what in the world she'd got lost into until Haku had picked her up last night after she'd laid there in misery, justly beaten for soothing the stranger with the mysterious of a woman. She hadn't expected the rage and anger from her parttime lover, she hadn't even realized how he'd viewed the two of them until the night before, but she was half his age, what did she know of love. She'd fled the sight of him that morning as quick as she could, though to the ache in her heart it wasn't quick enough.

She was moving through the lands quickly as she could, her body bruised and beaten, but not by the actions of her sibling. She shook her head at what had happened and the events that had followed. She hadn't expected the stranger on the beach to have turned on her so suddenly. She'd given him what he'd wanted but out of nowhere the darker side hadn't turned into the dangerous mystery, it'd turned into the savage brutal beast. Her emerald eyes glittered at the painful thoughtsas she slowed down suddenly. The scent of another caught her attention as she snapped her head up quickly, catching sight of another who looked just as preoccupied as she was with her own thoughts. She'd almost attacked the poor lass, thinking that she'd run into that damnable male again but she came up short, realizing her fault. Firefly paused in her patrol of the lands as she turned towards the stranger and called out. "Hello?" She wasn't stupid enough to snap at the poor soul, her anger was at her sibling, herself and the evening before, not the rest of the world. She'd make Ember pay if the rest of the pack found out just who she really was. Just another Sadira... but she'd make that male pay to, worse than her sibling.

Alexey's body tensed up immediately as a 'hello' rang out; the greeting had completely caught her off guard. She had been so wound up in her own little train of thoughts that she hadn't noticed anyone coming her way. In times of war such as these, this kind of carelessness was unacceptable: the Koios femme could only reprimand herself for not paying more attention to her surroundings. Luckily enough though, the stranger bore the smell of Dahlia de mai. Golden-speckled orbs met the younger she-wolf's emerald gaze before proceeding to examine her from head to toe. It seemed like she too, had gotten into a fight. Except hers, unlike Alexey's, obviously had been physical. And whoever had gotten a hold of her sure had pulled a number on her pretty face. The Filix didn't know whether she should ask the standard 'Are you alright?' inquiry or not. Instead, she chose another route; a question the teenager could reply to without feeling pressured into giving too many details. If she wanted to talk about it though, Alexey would listen. "Hey. Rough week for you too, huh?" She smiled sympathetically, fully aware that it was impolite to ask about her wounds. She left it at that for the time being.

Firefly's fur bristled slightly at the words of the other woman, but quickly she calmed down, knowing exactly how in the hell she looked. Shaking her head quietly she turned her emerald eyes back to the lady as she moved closer to join this stranger who obvious belonged. Nodding her head as her eyes darkened she smirked slightly. "I'm sure you could say that.." she said quietly, her voice low and steady, the anger missing because she'd pushed away all thoughts of what had caused her disappointment and frustration with Haku and her situation.

She never had let her own feelings or issues get the best of her before, this was a whole new ballpark and she didn't even want to think about it at the moemnt, or anytime at all really. She shook her head and yawned as she gazed at the lady before grinning, relaxing a little since she wasn't the only one bruised and beaten atleast. "Sooo... did you trip too?" she asked jokingly, knowing well enough that neither of them had tripped to end up this way, but neither would probably admit what had happened, or if they did it wouldn't wouldn't really mean much at all anyways. They weren't the first two to lose or be abused, they wouldn't be the last.

Alexey scooted over as the other female moved in, giving her enough room to sit on the dock and watch the rolling waves too. It struck her as odd that Haku's scent became prominent with the proximity the two now shared; his smell clung to the woman's pelt like a disease. She felt like asking questions then, many of them. It was obvious that one of two things could've happened: either Haku had saved her from danger, or he had inflicted the wounds upon the Circee. It was a shame, really. The gal was so young age-wise, and yet so mature at the same time. What on earth had happened to her?

Unsure of what to say next, Lexey forced a smile upon her lips. Her eyes betrayed her, like they always did. Golden orbs shimmered with concern and confusion as she watched her interlocutor. The youngster's next question broke the impending silence. "Sooo... did you trip too?" The two-year-old held back a chuckle, retorting with a witty answer of her own. "I guess you could say that... It was quite a fall too." Alexey's wounds had been mostly emotional, and compared to the other femme, her body looked almost flawless. And yet, the teenager had still noticed her distress. "I'm Alexey, by the way"

Firefly had never really thought of her age, then again age had no real point in the clan she'd grown up in. The children had been left to do as they pleased after their chores and duties were finished. The emerald eyed lass with the irish list had trailed along after the elders learning at their knees the religion of her adopted kindred and becoming engrossed in the power that it held. Perching on the edhe of the dock with the other lady she tried to ignore the fact that it was obvious that their beta's scent seemed to envelope hers. It still made her blood boil thinking about the fight they'd had, but she didn't want to think about that, the aches and pains were enough.

The smile that seemed to etch across the other lady's face was about the way that Firefly felt, it was more than obvious that neither of them were having a good week as the golden eyed woman had so perfectly stated. The break of the waves before them seemed to lull Firefly away from the worries a moment before the chuckle from the other brought her back, turning her eyes to meet those of the others as she smiled at her answer. "It's never as interesting if it was just a little stumble. So clutsy, right?" Firefly asked with a wicked grin as she titled her head to the side, trying to work the kinks out of her neck as she closed her eyes slightly against the spray of the ocean.

The lady had introduced herself as Firefly opened her eyes again, a soft smile on her lips as she replied. "I'm Firefly..." she said as the breeze picked up again, ruffling through her fur as she rolled her shoulders, the bruised muscled aching, yet the strain she forced upon them felt so good.

So the girl's name was Firefly. Alexey raised a brow, unable to conceal her astonishment right away. It was a peculiar name to begin with, but it also had a deeper significance. Fireflies were often pictured in symbolic mythology as bringers of death, grim reapers. Of course, there was no proof of that. Lexey had simply inherited her superstitious beliefs from her mother during early childhood. It was obviously pointless to share that piece of information with the youngster though. Not that it would scare her, Firefly obviously had nerves of steel. It was just... inappropriate.

She nodded briefly then, before turning her gaze back to the ocean. Lexey would spare her the whole "Oh my, what a pretty name you have!" comment, since the teenager had probably grown used to it by now. "I guess we should enjoy the calm before the storm, huh." The Koios femme had no need to precise what she was talking about, the girl probably knew already. She had felt the need to talk to someone about the war for some time now, and this wolfess seemed like the perfect candidate to discuss things with.

Firefly knew nothing of the mysteries and mythologies of her name, if she did she would have found it sadly fitting but never said a word. She knew what she was inside and if her name held true to her dark nature then so be it. Her eyes halfclosed as she listened to the lull of the ocean and enjoyed the silence that seemed to be dwelling in the space between the two figures. She knew sooner or later that that peace would break, just like every peace had to destroyed at one point or another.

Finally the lady spoke words that brought a smile to the fae child's face, her eyes turning back to Alexey as she laughed softly. "Of course, then again.. sometimes the storm is better than the calm..." Her eyes twinkled as she thought of the days to come and the war that was pending. Her emerald eyes watched the lass as she asked suddenly. "So how do do you fit so neatly in this storm that's brewing?" She knew where she fit, though she wasn't suppose to, atleast according to her mother she wasn't.. but she wasn't here and Firefly was.

Wanna wrap this up soon love? I have a thread/plot idea I'd like to discuss with you, I'll PM you on Iskata's account.

So bold and fearless. The teenager was clearly was a rebel, unlike Alexey had been at her age. Up until recently, she had never really voiced her opinions to anyone. It felt good to be able to do so, but that newfound ability also came with harsh consequences. She had gone ahead and joined Dahlia de Mai without her sister's approval, and that bit of courage had given her a new home and new friends. On the flip side, she had lost her sibling's trust.

Perhaps the storm would be better than the calm, at least she hoped so. Honey-colored eyes turned to Firefly, silently wishing for just an ounce of her bravery. But then again, was it bravery or foolishness? Lexey wondered if the two-toned girl was putting up a wreckless facade to protect herself from feeling anything. Deep down inside, she must've been scared too. The question that came next was enigmatic, and it took the Filix quite a few moments to think about her reply.

"I don't." That was the truth. She didn't fit anywhere, not that she knew of.

Firefly wasn't exactly sure if she'd even really had a childhood, or had suffered the agony of being a teenager either. Her world had somehow centered around the whole of what she was, the light and the dark side and the obsession that had grown over time. There was a child hidden within that had been hurt badly and she struggled not to let the babe break free again. She'd always been in control of her life and yet now everything had seemed to change. She didn't want to admit that she'd had feeling for the second in command and yet somehow she'd still failed to realize that he cared as well.

Standing beside the new packmember Firefly watched the boiling rage of the storm before them battling the furies of the sea. Sooner or later the sea would triump and the storm would skuddle to land to battle a weaker foe. The land would take the beating like always and grow anew. She turned her head towards the lass who stood in the wake of the storm with her. "Well, you'll find your spot sooner or later.." she said quietly as the rain began to fall around them. It wasn't words of encouragement but the truth. No one was handed their perfect world, you had to find it or make it.

Sitting up she winced as she turned about to leave the dockside."The storm's always glorious.. but I wouldn't trust it's fury. It's blind to all but what it wants.." Calling back to Alexey she smiled, "Com'mon, we can watch chaos reign from a more sheltered location." She padded away as the winds began to howl, hoping that the golded eyed lady wouldn't be foolish enough to stay where she was.
