Her heart fluttered. Eydiss now stood on the brink of a figurative cliff. The night closed in around her, shrouding the black wolf like a comforting blanket. It was warm, indicative of the coming summer months, and yet still she trembled. She'd made her decision weeks ago, and yet she'd hesitated to act. The Dawnrunners were growing impatient, however, and the Stormbringer bastard knew she could put it off no longer. Eydiss had no idea if the zealots had impressed the same urgency on her siblings, but there was no longer any time to meet up with them. Her brothers and sister would catch up eventually, of this she was certain. And if they didn't, well, then the task at hand ultimately fell to her alone.

The black female closed her blue eyes, taking a deep, desperate breath of the sweet night air. Once she let out the howl forming in her chest, she knew there would be no going back. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes as she parted her lips, but she forced them back. Her voice spilled from her throat in a mournful, pleading howl as she stood her ground just outside the freshly marked borderline belonging to the newly formed Vinatta packlands. She had no idea who would answer, but she knew the pack had been created by her blood relations, those bearing the Stormbringer name and stigma. As her request for an audience faded away beneath the crescent moon, the bastard female swallowed her trepidation. The chorus of the night rose around her, the songs of crickets and night birds filling her ears as the late spring breeze rustled her coal-black fur. Trying to gain control of her beating heart, Eydiss pulled her hindquarters beneath her, wrapping her bushy tail around her hip as she sat, stiff as a statue, waiting for her brethren to answer her plea, not knowing what to expect when they did.

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

Nearly six hours before, the Clan had become a proper pack and Saul was proud to have been named leader. Or co-leader perhaps, as Lilin stood strong by his side. His mind threw him images of them together properly, the way he wanted to be. It was complicated though and he had no idea how to proceed. Lying in his rounded house, green eyes staring up at the rounded ceiling, he couldn't quite keep his thoughts from turning over and over in his mind. They wouldn't quiet and he couldn't sleep. He knew that there was someone awake at least- it was perhaps ingrained into their lupine nature to have at least one of the pack awake. He didn't know who it was, although he thought he'd heard Bran exiting his house not long ago. Living with the Clan for the weeks that they had, he had learnt fairly quickly the sound of the pawsteps of each member and he concluded that it was likely to be the caramel man.

Green eyes were drifting shut as he forced himself to focus on the sounds of nature outside his door. He was perhaps just slipping into an unconscious state when a loud, mournful howl shattered the silence. He was up and out of the door before he had really thought, shifting down into his lupus form to run quicker. He and Lilin had taken opposite ends of their territory borders this afternoon, scent marking and establishing said boundaries. Disbelief coloured his thoughts as he moved, a sense of urgency to his pace. He didn't think there would be anyone at their borders for a good few weeks at least. Perhaps this wasn't someone looking for refuge, perhaps this was someone who wished to challenge their claim to the lands.

Green eyes, well adjusted to the darkness as all lupine eyes were, saw the dark form of the female sitting on the ground a few moments before he came trotting to a stop in front of her. His expression was kind and polite, his posture dominant but open. He wasn't certain why she was here, her scent revealed her gender and unattachment to a pack, but it would help very little to simply stay silent. Welcome, miss, to Vinátta's borders. How can I help you? He asked, his tone warm and friendly. There was no need to be rude or abrasive, he would get his answers shortly.

(321) PPing Miskunn this time. Jassy can do the rest. XD

It could have been a dream. She had only been vaguely aware of the woeful call, veering dangerously between too distant and too close. Settling down as an official pack was still surreal to her, in a way. Their group had expanded and a delicate hierarchy had washed over them but to Lilin, it felt no different than the short time she’d spent in Hilsburn or the Moonstone Lakes. She was still surrounded by friends and family; functions would eventually be distributed sooner than later, and a comfortable routine would fall into place. Border duty was already a reality, she’d spent most of her day mingling and establishing clear limitations with the girls. But never would she have expected someone to stumble upon their newly established haven mere hours after their claim.

Lilin was still attempting to blink away the sleep clouding her vision, struggling to overcome the sheer darkness of her dwelling when sterling globes materialized out of oblivion. The silhouette looming over her was not Saul’s, this she knew. A gasp rose in her throat as the Godja’s hushed plea reverberated in the dark, forcefully rousing Lilin from the semi-conscious state holding her captive. “I know her,” was offered as a hurried explanation before the Virding could even open her maw and question anything. Jordheim was rapidly left behind and the two femmes made their way to the closest border, eventually emerging from the woods behind Saul. Her beau had visibly already greeted the stranger before their arrival. There was little for her to do except find her rightful place by his side and hopefully make sense of the situation. Mediterranean orbs could not pry away from the pained expression in the woman’s eyes.

Miskunn, on the other hand, moved ahead and dropped to her knees before her brother’s illegitimate child. “Eydiss,” rang out in the dead of night as the eldest Stormbringer cradled her niece in her arms. “Are you alright?”

It seemed that Eydiss wouldn't have to wait long for her plea to be answered, for better or for worse. The moon had barely drifted in its endless nightly path before a four-legged form materialized in the distance, headed directly for her. She was upwind of the pack wolf, but the form's bulk hinted at its gender before the stranger paused before the outsider. Eydiss bowed her head, splaying her ears in submission to the pack member. As the grey wolf's voice broke the night, Eydiss' suspicions were confirmed. The greeter was male, with enchanting and kind green eyes. His posture was dominant, yet open enough and friendly rather than confrontational. She felt a pang of hope that this seemingly welcoming male would not prove to be of Stormbringer blood.

"Forgive me for intruding, sir. My name is Eydiss, and I've come looking for..." The black wolf had no chance to finish her introduction, for at that moment she was suddenly found herself being pulled into familiar arms. She nearly lost her composure as Miskunn wrapped her arms around her. It pierced her heart painfully to realize that the older female was a pure Stormbringer, and therefore someone who would probably meet an unsavory end at some point in the not-so-distant future. Eydiss had actually found herself growing quite fond of the wise woman, despite every effort to wall away her emotions. A flash of regret and sorrow glinted in her blue eyes before she steeled herself again, but she did allow a bit of genuine relief and comfort to show on her face. "Miskunn! I didn't expect you to be here already. I'm fine, just a bit...nervous, I suppose. My last attempt at a family reunion didn't really end all that well..." The bastard girl managed a nervous half-smile at her aunt, before casting her sapphire gaze to her other two relatives.

Seeing her niece's anxiety as plain as day on the girl's face, Miskunn kept a hand on the wolf's shoulder and took over the conversation. "Saul, Lilin, this is Eydiss Villieldr, your second cousin, I believe. She is the daughter of Wraith, current alpha of the Stormbringer home pack in Solbjorg Valley. He is not the most...reserved of gentlemen when it comes to matters of lust, I regret to say. He is also not the most responsible." The last two lines were emphasized by an empathetic glance aimed at Eydiss, who was silently thankful for her aunt's reassuring presence at this more important of first impressions. "Eydiss and her siblings have been searching for a home away from the conflict in Solbjorg. She was made aware of the number of Stormbringers and others located here in these lands, and came ahead of her family to see if there was anywhere suitable for them to make a life. We found each other a few weeks ago, just around the same time I found you two. We've been in contact since, and I'm glad to see she took my invitation, and my advice. I told her she would most certainly find a place among her brethren here. The decision is ultimately yours, of course, but I believe she would be a welcome addition to our little clan." Miskunn's silver eyes glimmered warmly in the moonlight as she glanced between her three younger relatives.

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

He could practically feel the nervous tension in the female and he remained in a friendly but dominant posture. He knew it was a good thing, for her to be nervous, but the more compassionate side of him didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. She appeared to recover, although as she spoke her tone remained perhaps nervous and timid. She apologised for intruding, although she sat a respectful distance from their freshly marked borderlines and this was more than acceptable. Afterall, it was half the reason for establishing these boundaries, to provide a clear place for outsiders to request an audience. He wanted to inform her as such but as she introduced herself and almost revealed what she was hear for, the sound of approaching steps caused his ears to swivel back and he caught the distinct voice of Miskunn calling the female's name.

He looked around, his stomach giving its customary flip when he saw Lilin running beside the older Stormbringer. Miskunn wasted no time crossing their boundary lines and throwing her arm around the lone female while Lilin came to a stop beside him. He was unable to resist leaning just slightly in to her, the brush of their fur mingling and his weight pressed to her body once before he backed off and fixed green eyes to the two females outside their boundaries. Eydiss, as she had introduced herself to be, spoke to Miskunn now in answer to her question and Saul listened carefully. He had been through this process innumerable times, in both Dahlia de Mai and Ichika. Both packs had differing ways of accepting members into the pack, but the principal was the same. It seemed Miskunn would be explaining on behalf of the lone female now, as Saul trained green eyes on the Godja.

Her revelation that this female was family came as a shock to him and he glanced back over at the female. Now that Miskunn had revealed her lineage, he could see the typical Stormbringer colouring to her- dark colours, bright blue eyes. He remembered Niernan's revelation about Saul and his siblings lineage, how they were unnatural, taboo perhaps. Although Niernan's own father had been a mixture of Stormbringer and Dawnrunner, so he supposed it was easy for Saul to accept Niernan's truth. It seemed Eydiss had inherited the distinctive Stormbringer lines, despite the light Miskunn painted him to be. It appeared unfaithfullness and abandonment ran strong in Stormbringer genes and he nodded softly towards Eydiss. He understood her situation, perhaps better than most.

Miskunn continued on her explanation and Saul soaked up the details thoroughly. He took this process very seriously and was vigilant in listening to what Miskunn had to offer. He wasn't particularly surprised that the older female had found Eydiss before now- she seemed to be everywhere and know everything about their family... and all their illegitimate children. Miskunn's opinion was taken with the soft incline of his head and a smile, a silent thank you for the influx of information she'd given. It certainly gave a well rounded picture of the female who still sat in front of them. In his mind, he was going over his checklist of questions he knew he must ask. He'd had an in depth account of where she came from and why she was here. He returned his emerald gaze to Eydiss, the friendly smile still displayed.

We welcome you to our family Eydiss, it is a pleasant surprise, as ever, to find more of our relatives here. Tell me, what skills do you possess that can benefit Vinátta? He asked, tone kind. He had no intention of interrogating her, but there were questions that needed to be answered and he asked them in the least confrontational way as possible. His posture remained patient, although his skin itched to press against Lilin once more. It was a difficult line to balance on.

(248) Derp. Not much Lilin can do. XD

The press of Saul's body against hers was accepted gracefully, and she allowed a faint smirk to tug at the corners of her lips before he pulled away. He had assumed the verbal interrogation that assuredly accompanied leadership; there was very little need for her to echo his inquiries. Their Godja, proactive as she was, had already taken it upon herself to defend this new relative of theirs. It was no secret Lilin had grown fond of Miskunn and her steadfast dedication to their family. Sterling and Mediterranean blue interlocked briefly- a superfluous imploration. Convincing Lilin at this point was unnecessary; regardless of Eydiss' skills, useful or not, they would not turn her away. Family, no matter how distant, was a blessing to Vinátta.

She however understood Saul's need to maintain a level of formality. He was being prudent as always, with their best interest at heart. With the recent news of an impending threat from the Dawnrunners, they could not be too careful. Miskunn had already taken care of the introductions; addressing the Virdings by their first name. And so, Lilin did the only thing she could possibly do; she stood silent and listened intently. It was still unclear why Eydiss had distanced herself from Wraith and Solbjorg, but there would be ample time to discuss it later on. That is, if Miskunn's niece felt comfortable enough to share. The Soulstorm heir understood one's need for privacy and she would not pry without reason.

Sorry for the wait lovelies! / 312 words

Eydiss was simultaneously grateful and regretful for her aunt's help with the introductions. Grateful because it smoothed the meeting immensely, regretful because of what the bastard girl was tasked with upon her entry into Vinátta. For the moment, the black wolf tried to push that to the back of her mind, walling it away and trying to convince herself she was becoming a part of this pack, this family, for real. Her nerves eased at the gentle look in the eyes of Vinátta's greeters, and she nodded softly to her aunt that she could speak for herself at this point. Miskunn smiled gently down at her, awaiting her answer with the patience of a knowing mother.

"Thank you for the welcome, Saul, Lilin. It's a true pleasure to meet you both. Miskunn's told me a lot about you, and about the other Stormbringers that have come and gone around these lands." The wolf managed a shy smile and a brief sway of her tail against the earth. "As far as what I could offer to Vinátta, I'm not really anything special. I do know how to hold my own in a fight, especially with my spear, but that's nothing most others couldn't do. I will say that I have a certain knack for navigation and direction, and an eye for detail. Once I find my way somewhere, it's incredibly difficult to get me lost again, even when someone tries." She couldn't help the slight smirk at that admittance, Eydiss was quite proud of that particular skill. "I know it isn't much, but I'm a fast learner and I'm sure I could pick up some other helpful skills if you give me a chance." The female leaned into Miskunn's comforting support and alternated her gaze from Saul to Lilin and back again, searching for an answer before either one spoke.

Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

The small smirk that pursed Lilin's lips was not missed and Saul could not help his own small, private smile. Her proximity was something the male appreciated and he wasn't shy on showing her this gratitude. He also couldn't help the soft flick of his tail towards her before his attention was once against claimed by the pair of dark Stormbringers in front of him. Eydiss seemed grateful for Miskunn's words and it was nice to see that they were supportive of one another. Her words were met with cupped ears and Saul allowed a lazily smile to wash over his lips. He wasn't even sure how many Stormbringers had been through Nova Scotia and he once again looked at Miskunn with a smile. She was an incredible source of information and he found himself wanting to pick her brains more and more.

He remained silent as she continued, not wishing to distract her with words of thanks. There was no need for them. Her words were encouraging however- while she knew little that was incredibly specific she seemed willing to learn. Her admission that she was a good navigator was met with a slight raise of his eyebrows and a small smile. Perhaps she might fill the role of Map maker at some point. Her voice was small as she gave a small plea for a chance. In actuality Saul had no qualms about accepting her into the pack. But one trait of a good leader was to know their members strengths, weaknesses and talents and it was good to get this information straight off so they could put her somewhere useful.

You will have every opportunity to learn in Vinátta Eydiss. Welcome to our home. He said, his tail flickering once more back and forth. He was reminded briefly of their discussion with Miskunn about providing new members with some essentials and thought it might be best to implement it. Another member of the pack will find you soon with a Welcome Pack and show you to your house, if you wish to live in Jordheim with the rest of us. He said softly, knowing this wouldn't make sense to Eydiss, who had never seen the earthen village. He needed to put together some sort of welcome pack for her and he would do that soon.
