when things go south

The days grew closer and closer to the arrival of the clan's newest litter, and the ill tempered sour sprite of a woman who was to be a new mother grew more fearful and withdrawn into the cocoon that she had created for herself. The past few weeks she had rarely left the mansion and when she had it had only been for a quick venture about the paths and building that surrounded the old stone building. Once more she had left the shared chambers of Helotes and herself, though now she was beyond being able to walk properly as her enormous belly wobbled and swayed with every step she took.

The tiny woman's tail must have looked like it was dusting the air behind her as she fought for balance in the only way she knew how. She didn't make it far from the steps of the mansion though before she gave up and leaned against the stone fence that surrounded the land. She carefully placed herself amongst the roses, keeping watch for their thorns as she inhaled the scent of the buds and blossoms.

Zana didn't feel like being cooped up indoors today, despite finally listening to Helotes worries and reasoning. She was not a creature who enjoyed being bored to death. Her hands needed things to do and her mind needed change. While she could bend and give so much she was at her wits end today.
