After all that waiting, it's finally here! Early morning.

Kohaku emerged from the dark den and was bombarded by the morning light. He winced and blinked several times to get used to the bright world. Beside him was his sister Lucia, who let out an enormous yawn. Ahead of him was his mommy, her white form towering over him. They had just woken up and he was more than ready to go on an adventure. He was two moons now and he wanted to see the whole world. Kohaku's puppy-blue eyes had started to change, a rim or turquoise had formed around the pupil and in a few months they would turn into a brilliant green.

The colorful puppy turned his changing eyes to his mommy to gave her a big smile and a wagging tail. He began to wander over to her, but was stuck on his side. Growling, Kohaku turned to find that Lucia had playfully attached herself to his hip. He twisted around to grab onto her ear and thus playtime began. The two siblings wrestled for a long time, but neither was able to come out victorious. Eventually, they both stopped out of exhaustion and hunger. Kohaku and Lucia turned their attention to their mommy and ran over to suckle. She allowed them to drink, but because both puppies were nearly weaned there was little for them to drink.

Unsatisfied with his meal, Kohaku ran over to her face and licked her muzzle, whining and complaining of his empty stomach. Lucia, who preferred meat over milk, was quick to join in and it didn't take much convincing for their mommy to decide to start hunting. As was usual, she herded them back into the den. "Nooooo," he complained. Kohaku hated being put back into the den. He couldn't see why he had to hide whenever his mommy went out. He was old enough to stay outside.

The impatient puppy waited in the tunnel while Lucia bounded quickly into the den's main chamber. There she began to wrestle with her rag doll. Kohaku looked back into the light of the outside world and his heart sank. His oversized ears stood erect as he listened to his mommy's fading footsteps. When he could no longer hear her he quickly scrambled out of the den. The puppy's changing eyes glistened in the sun, a mischievous flame burned inside his eyes. He quickly looked around and his heart pounded as he slowly stepped out of the hole. A bush rustled and he flinched, expecting his mommy to come scold him. But no words came and his mommy was nowhere in sight.

Satisfied that no one was going to stop him, the young wolf took off into the forest. His tongue hung out as he ran and a look of pure joy was etched into his face. There was no one to stop him, no one to say no, no sister to annoy him. He could do whatever he wanted. Kohaku ran for quite some time in puppy terms before he began to inspect everything around him. He jumped from one tree to another, bush to bush. Everything was new and exciting. If he saw a bird, Kohaku would run after it howling and barking in his wolfish fashion

After what seemed like hours of playing and pestering small wildlife he finally settled down in tiny a clearing. Kohaku looked around, just realizing that he was completely lost. Even so, it didn't bother him. If he got in trouble his mommy would come and rescue him like she always did. No longer satisfied with scaring birds, he began to look around for something else to occupy his young mind. A flash of movement from the corner of his eyes caught his attention and he turned excitedly. On the ground was his own tail wagging quickly behind him. Kohaku let out a growl and contorted his body so he could grab the grey and white appendage. It took several tries, and the process was extremely loud, but he finally managed to grab ahold of his tail and promptly began chewing on it.

The thick scent of spices wrapped around Amy's body. The horse huffed softly beside her, content with it's job. It hadn't been injured for a long time, obedient as it was. The sales had gone well, luckily. It was with new luxuries that Amy made the trip back to Anathema. Humming Amy stretched, deciding to take a break and ditch the wagon for a while. With a sharp click of her tongue Amy sent the wagon ahead, the horse knowing the route to take. It had taken some time, but it finally understood where Anathema was, and to return there. As soon as it was out of sight Amy pulled her clothes off. Shaking her body out Amy shifted into her lupine form. Not one she used often, but wanting a chance to relax without getting her clothes dirty meant using it.

She trotted along, simply taking in the scent of the various places. The scent of a pup grabbed her attention immediately. Amy stilled, sniffing curiously. She couldn't help herself. The pup was so young, only a month or so younger than what her pups should have been. A quiet growl came from her, angered that someone would let the pup wander when it needed protection and care. Perhaps if she killed it the parent would learn the lesson. Tail swinging behind her Amy trotted after the pup. Spotting the pup Amy watched dumbfounded as it proceeded to do the most stupid thing possible, chasing it's tail. With it snatched Amy laughed, tail wagging. She stepped out proudly, freezing as the scent reached her. Kiara. This was one of her pups!

Blind rage flooded through her. How dare that piece of trash have healthy pups that were doing so well when her own had died! It shouldn't have happened. She marched forwards, thinking about tearing it apart. Then she would leave it's bloody head at Kiara's borders. That would teach her a lesson. Jaws snapping forwards Amy paused. No. She had a better idea. Amy would take the pup, and raise him to hate his mother, to want to kill her. Laughing inside Amy laid down before the pup. Hello.

His tail had been conquered and Kohaku gladly nibbled on his prize. His teeth and mighty growls sounded through the forest and made him so excited that he lost track of his tail. Its slipped easily out his mouth and he whined as it flew back to the ground and ran along the dirt. The young puppy had been so engrossed in his playtime that he didn't even notice that someone had been following him and was watching him from the shadows. A laugh broke through his tiny world and shattered his thoughts of being alone. His head quickly shot up and he oversized ears flopped forward. Immediately he was alert and aware that someone was close by.

All of the sudden a large golden canine slid out of the shadows and marched towards him. His changing eyes grew wide and he ears flicked back as his wet tail sought refuge around his legs. Kohaku didn't know the adult and her appearance frightened him. Suddenly, the memory of his mommy angry flashed through his mind. The yellow giant might be scary, but his mommy was even scarier. Kohaku stood on all fours, his tail raised high and his black heckles stood on end. He pulled his lips back to reveal tiny rows of teeth and just like his mommy he let loose a ferocious growl.

The change in the strange adult was almost instantaneous. Powerful jaws snapped in front of him, but paused suddenly. Her frightening demeanor changed into a softer glow as laid down in front of him. Confused, Kohaku lowered his tail, lips, and heckles. He sat back down and cocked his head to the side. His tiny nose expanded as his sniffed the air. The overpowering scent of the female filled his nose and made him sneeze. How had he not noticed her earlier? "You stinky." He piped.

The attempt at ferociousness brought a soft chuckle from Amy. For one born to a weak coward this pup had guts. He actually attempted to frighten Amy off. Granted, his tail had tucked and ears had flattened, but teeth had been bared and an attempt at a growl had been made. It wasn't very frightening coming from someone so young, so small, so pathetically breakable, but it was more than she had expected. Amy had thought that the pup would have run at her arrival, so obviously a threat to the pup. He wasn't very bright either, quickly relaxing as Amy did. Amy didn't actually have any true measurement of how bright he might be, as she'd never been around pups that were weaned without despising them and chasing them off, but he did seem stupid for relaxing after the dangerous display she'd done.

A sneeze came out, and Amy twisted her head, sniffing at her coat. Nose wrinkling Amy shook the scent back out. The spices were nice in a small amount, but that wasn't what she'd been carrying, having plenty to trade and all that. It was a very overwhelming scent. She couldn't even smell the pack under there. Not that it was ever particularly strong on the traveler. Amy glanced back over to the pup and smiled mockingly. Really? What a bright boy for noticing. Her voice dripped with poisoned honey, blades hidden underneath. I suppose you smell better, with mud and dirt in your fur? What's your name pup?

Kohaku wrinkled his nose after sneezing and he watched with wide, curious eyes as the stranger turned back to sniff her own coat. The young puppy had never smelled anything like her. Her scent was so strong and it made his nose itch. Between that and her earlier behavior, he wasn’t really sure what to think of the yellow wolf. Although, she looked a little odd for a wolf and smelled funny, she seemed nice after they started to talk. Perhaps she was like the other one that his mommy had growled at. The other wolf was scary at first but soon became friends with his mommy. Were all adults like that?

A strange smile crossed the older female’s face. Kohaku’s expression brightened as she complimented him. He puffed his tiny chest out proudly, taking the complement in stride. There was an odd tone in her voice, but Kohaku couldn’t figure out what it was. Either way, he didn’t really care. In his mind, if anything happened his mommy would rescue him. She was always there to rescue him and she was the most powerful wolf in the world.

When the golden wolf asked him a question about his scent, the tiny puppy turned to sniff his own coat just as she had done. Kohaku didn’t find anything wrong with his scent so he furiously nodded his head. ”Smell good!” His grey and white tail wagged furiously and his eyes shined as she asked for his name. ”Ko-HA-ku.” Although his name was descernable, Kohaku had placed an exceptionally strong emphasis on the “ha” in his name to make it sound a bit off. He was still working on his words and he had little control over his own voice.

Kohaku dipped down into a play bow, his tail wagging hard and his tongue hanging out to the side. ”What name! What name!” He shouted.

Amy watched with bemusement as the pup twisted, actually taking the time to sniff at his own coat. He really did seem to be an idiot. The agreement was so enthusiastic Amy had to chuckle at it. She didn't care for the presence of mud in her fur herself, usually doing her best to present herself as an elegant creature. The sight of his tail wagging so brightly with her agreement was pure comedy, chuckling out loud at the bright glitter in his eyes. There was nothing going on to light him up so, just her presence, and she'd mocked him and almost killed him.

Kohaku. A very interesting name. Solid. Her tail wagged, deciding that it would be alright to let him keep the name. She flinched at the shout, not caring for the loud manner he spoke in. Firmly she reached out a paw to push him down, hoping that if he was pinned the enthusiastic pup would calm down. It would take a lot of work to mold this one into the form she wished. My name is Amy Sunders. Would you like that? To be a Sunders? The question was asked almost innocently, presenting the kidnapping as a choice.

Light chuckles flowed from the yellow wolf and her smiles revealed her great amusement. Kohaku fed off her amusement, his own puppy manners souring higher than her strange version of joy. He had decided that she was like the other adult; scary at first but nice after a while. His tail wagged freely in the air and his rear end swayed high in the air. His bluish-green eyes shone and he would soon be ready for a game. Kohaku wondered if playing games with an adult would be better than playing with his stupid sister. She was always biting him really hard and trying to dominate him. The adult female was bound to be different.

A large paw reached out and pushed hard on Kohaku's black back. His tiny legs gave way and he landed in the dirt with a yip. The young male squirmed under her paw, pinned helplessly to the ground. He let out small growls and whines to show his disapproval. He hadn't done anything wrong, so why was she pinning him? Kohaku stopped moving at her words, a small whine escaped his lips. She had changed again and was so scary. Although her voice sounded sweet, he didn't like her words. The tiny puppy didn't want to become a Sanders. She wasn't his mommy. Kohaku began to flail again, loud howls pouring from his mouth as he sent up the alarm. "No! Mommy! Mommy!"

The tiny male didn't understand what was going on. Why was she being so scary? Why was she pinning him? Surely his mommy would come and help him. His mommy would beat back the scary golden wolf and he would be safe under belly. Kohaku's alarmed howls sounded through the forest, but his cries didn't have the power that adults could produce. Even so, he was positive that his mommy would hear him and rescue him.

Her efforts to quiet and calm the pup backfired. Growls and whines escaped as he fought against her grasp, squirming to get loose. Even worse, at her words it finally seemed to occur to him that she wasn't safe. Howls rose up, calling for Kiara to come and rescue him. She wasn't planning on letting that happen. Still with one paw holding him down Amy thought about what she was going to do. Getting him to shut up was pretty high on her priorities. After that, how she was going to take him away was something to consider. Carry him in lupine? Shift back to optime?

Leaning down close Amy let herself face him on eye level. If you don't shut up I'm going to bite you. She waited for a moment before continuing. I'm going to let you up now. Don't cause any trouble. No running, no fighting, no resuming the squalling that seemed so insistent on coming from him. Amy stood strong as she could, tail curling dominantly behind her. There was no way she was going to let him get away. Not when she had the perfect punishment in mind for the wolf that had dared to insult her so gravely.

The tiny puppy fought as hard as he could to escape the scary female's clutches. He continued to call for his mommy, still set firmly in the belief that she would rescue him. The sudden turn of events even made Kohaku wish that Lucia were there so that he at least wasn't alone. Kohaku's cries filled the clearing and his four limbs flailed everywhere. Even so, the young male wasn't strong enough to fight her off. His paws uselessly dug into the dirt and his alarm faded too quickly.

Amy bent down to his level, her massive face instilled terror into his young heart. She commanded him to be silent or else she would hurt him. Kohaku's loud cries turned into soft whimpers and his struggles ended. He was scared and alone. Even so, he still held onto the hope that his mommy would come. Slowly, the pressure on his back eased and Amy towered over the tiny male. Kohaku's blue eyes glanced upward as the rest of his body lay motionless on the ground. Fear and longing filled him. "Go home." He chirped.

Where was his home? Where was his mommy and sister? Kohaku's body shook a little as he stared up into the uncaring eyes of Amy. He didn't want to be a Sanders. "Mommy" His voice came out as a longing whisper, just barely loud enough to hear.

The silence that followed was such a relief! Amy had started thinking she'd have to knock him out, not the best way to start this relationship out. As terrifying as Amy was, she wanted to supplant his mother, make him hate her, and that would be difficult to do if he was always looking for Kiara to save him. Thinking for a moment Amy smiled cruelly. I am taking you home. Your mommy gave you to me to take care of. She said you'd like being a Sunders. That ought to stop him from hoping that she would come to rescue him. At the single word Amy's eyes glittered, wishing that it was her pup, and not a puppet.

Leaning down she licked at his head, a soothing motion despite the ferocity behind her. She wasn't going to hurt him. Bending over her teeth clamped down on Kohaku's scruff, and Amy picked up the dumb pup. With her mouth full she couldn't talk anymore, simply humming the most reassuring sound she could think of. Trotting back up the path Amy headed for where she knew the wagon would be. Traveling or not, it would be at a fairly slow pace. She could catch up and drop the pup inside.

Horror hit the young pup and his eyes turned into great disks. All of his whimpering stopped and his mind seemed to slow down to a crawl. His mommy; his beautiful, white mommy, had actually given him away to such a scary female. He couldn't believe it. He wouldn't believe it. His mommy loved him... right? She wouldn't leave him with the scary Amy would she?

Thinking back, Kohkau wondered if perhaps this was his fault. He was always getting into trouble and fighting with Lucia. If he had just been a better at following her instructions and didn't play as often, if he hadn't left the den when she told him to stay put. Had she given him away because he was being a bad boy? Seeking comfort, Kohaku tucked his tiny legs beneath him. He sat silently in the dirt as his mind tried to figure out the situation he was in. He was going to be a Sanders, because he had been a bad boy and his mommy had given him away.

A gentle lick ran over his head, almost soothingly. His sad eyes looked up at the female who was going to take him away. A pathetic whine escaped his lips. He didn't want to leave, he wanted to go back to where his mommy and sister were. Still in a state of shock, Kohaku didn't fight Amy as she picked him up by the scruff of his neck. He simply swayed in her jaws and tucked his oversized paws in. The young male watched as the forest he knew disappeared and he couldn't see a sign of his mommy anywhere. She really had given him away.
