The trip had been going well. Until a storm decided to break out. The clouds had hung overhead for hours, large and threatening before it decided to let loose. The first sprinkle was easy for Amy to brush off, but it quickly turned out into a full out downpour, complete with lightning flashing through the sky. Unable to see more than a few steps ahead Amy pulled the horse to a halt. The creature's eyes were wide with fear, startled by the storm. Amy tied it up sharply, unwilling to let it panic and get hurt.

With that taken care of Amy set off looking for a good place to camp. Her hair was plastered down to her head, bangs getting in her eyes. Amy continued walking through until she managed to spot a small den in the ground. Perfect. Rushing back Amy stuck her head into the dark wagon. She hurriedly gathered up the water proof cloak, bundling several thick furs, matches, candles, and wooden objects that would become the sacrifice for the fire, her usual source of firewood soaked through. Turning to where she had stashed the pup Amy called out. Come on, we need to get to shelter.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

Kohaku couldn't believe what was happening to him. He was sure that he was just stuck in some awful nightmare. He couldn't believe that his mommy had given him to such a strange and scary wolf. She had been so kind, so gentle. She had always been there for him and always saved him when he needed her most. Yet, there he was, in the back of a "wagon," wedged firmly between the furs, with a two-legged beast looking after him. The first time he had seen Amy change into a monster had been a horrible experience for him. He had never seen a "luperci" before and at first he had been terrified of the giant Amy. However, the things she could do with her "hands" were amazing. She could pick things up and talk. It had taken a while for Kohaku to get used to her other form, but once he did, the questions were never-ending. What could she do? How did she do that? Anything and everything that came to mind, he had asked her.

His never-ending stream of questions stopped once the first droplets of rain had started to fall. Kohaku didn't particularly mind the rain, it was the possibility of loud noises and bright lights that made him uneasy. As Amy walked outside of the wagon, he sat quietly hidden and waited for the dreadful noise to start. Finally it hit, and with each loud clash he had jumped. Sometimes he would yelp, other times he would try to cover his ears with his forepaws. Kohaku had shut his eyes tightly and slithered even further into his tiny space. He couldn't take the noise or the lightsl they were even scarier than Amy the monster.

A rummaging sound floated through the wagon, but Kohaku didn't dare open his eyes. He jumped as the next loud band ricocheted through the world and whined pitifully, hoping it would stop. Amy's voice called out to him, but Kohaku just shook his head. He didn't want to leave. There was light and noise outside. An unusually loud bang had him flying into her. He yelped with panic and his entire body shook with fear. If it was a choice between Amy the monster and the loud noises, Kohaku would choose Amy every time.

Amy looked closely, for the first time realizing why silence had fallen. Amy had done her best with the questions, working to keep him under her control and make him grow attached to her, but Amy couldn't tell how well it was going, since most of her remarks were sharp in nature, if precise. Whines were coming from him, and his body was shaking. What was wrong? Thunder sounded again, Kohaku yelping loudly. In a blur the pup came over, pushing into her body.

Surprised Amy looked down, keeping her grasp on him. Arms wrapped gently as she cuddled the pup, murmuring soothingly. That was unexpected. What had gotten into him? Well, they could go now. Amy carried the pup and bundle she'd gathered back to the small den. Slipping through Amy was pleasantly surprised to have it open up inside, revealing a hidden hollow space beneath the lands that seemed to go on for quite some time. Sitting down Amy shifted Kohaku's weight. The sounds were more distant now as she set up the furs, making sure not to drop the pup.

With the furs laid out Amy placed him down, tucking a bear pelt around his body, thick and warm. Turning she placed the wooden objects, sighing slightly with disappointment. There went a fair amount of trade. The match was struck, and soon Amy had a cheery fire going, lighting up the dank space they were in. Moving back to the furs Amy wrapped her own body up, settling down happily.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

Kohaku, to his great satisfaction, managed to get most of his questions answered. There where times when the things Amy told him were strange and incomprehensible to his young mind, but many of the answers were easy enough for him to understand. Even so, Kohaku was still uneasy around Amy. Her answers were blunt and spoken in harsh tones. She wasn't anything like his mommy. Kohaku still desperately missed her and tried his best to be a good boy. Perhaps if he was good with Amy than his mommy would come and get him.

The colorful puppy sought refuge from the loud noise in Amy's arms. His boy shuddered and he pushed himself further into her coat. Amy's arms gently wrapped around his torso and she murmured softly to him. The shaking of his body stopped, but his bluish-green eyes were still wide disks and his tail was tucked firmly between his legs. Slowly, she picked him up and carried him into the pouring rain. His coat was quickly soaked through and he began to shiver from the cold. Amy carried him into a large den, large for him anyways. The first thing Kohaku noticed was that the loud crashing noise was muffled inside the den and he couldn't see the bright lights if his back was turned to the entrance.

Once deep inside the den, Amy sat down and began to arrange the furs on the floor. His mommy also had a fur that lined the inside of his den, so he was used to the behavior. Inquisitively, he stretched out his head to sniff the furs, many of which smelled a little like him. Another loud bang sounded and he ducked his head into Amy's side and whimpered. Even though the sounds were muffled, they were still scary. After the furs were spread out, Amy put the tiny pup down and wrapped him inside a warm skin. Kohaku, who was still wet and cold, snuggled into the fur as best he could. Curiosity got the best of him again when he noticed how strange the scent was. He sniffed the inside of the pelt and cocked his head to the side. It wasn't deer like his mommy's had been, nor was it rabbit or any other animal he knew. "What this?"

Puppy blue eyes shone from beneath the fur as he watched Amy curiously. She stacked several large wooden objects into a pile, but he couldn't figure out why. He glanced up at her monstrous form and she seemed a little sad, but not the same sad that his mommy used to have. It was a different sad. Amy took out a strange box and stick, which jumped to life in a bright glow. Kohaku shrank back into the furs as the muffled crash sounded through the den and didn't come back out till the entire pile of wood was glowing brightly.

Kohaku was transfixed by the glow, it was warm and smelled nice. Slowly he crept out of the furs and inched towards the blaze. He stopped his advance when Amy settled down into the furs with a happy look on her face. Shadows of him and her were cast around the walls and a plume of smoke rose above their heads, slowly drifting out of the den. Kohaku stared at the strange sites; it was all new to him. However, another large crash sounded and he dashed into Amy's lap.

Did he seriously ask what the fur pelt was? Amy knew that Kiara wasn't infected. Or hadn't been until recently. Which meant no comforts or anything else for him. A pelt. Simple enough. With the fire going Amy stretched out, letting the dampness that had soaked through dry off from the flickering heat of the flames. Worth the sacrifice, even if it was highly disappointing. Silently she made a point of remembering to add wood to her wagon so this wouldn't happen again.

She watched the pup inch close to the fire, deciding it would be best to let him discover the dangers of the fire on his own. If he got burnt, it was his own fault. Lesson learned. Amy couldn't think of a better way for a pup to learn. He did halt before that happened though, which was a shame. Amy would have been entertained by that. Another muffled thunder clap came down, and again Amy found herself with a bundle of fur in her lap. Are you scared of thunder? Amy's eyes sparked with amusement as she stroked the pup softly.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

A frown crossed the tiny puppy's lip at Amy's response. That wasn't what he had asked about. He knew what a pelt was, he wasn't stupid. Kohaku snorted, making up his mind that not only was Amy a monster, but she wasn't as smart as she seemed. "No. Smell. What smell?" It was a simple enough question; surely even she would be able to answer that for him. She had been able to answer most of his questions before, so why couldn't she answer this one the first time?

With the increased heat that the bright light added, Kohaku was able to dry off quickly. He was still tiny and his pelt wasn't very thick. When he had approached the blaze the young male had noticed that it grew hotter with every step. Why was that? What was it? Before Kohaku got a chance to ask his young mind wandered and focused on the shadows that painted the walls of the den. The shadows moved and flickered in the light and stretched all the way up the walls. He had just started to look at the cloud of smoke when the crash sent him flying into Amy's lap.

The golden luperci spoke and Kohaku turned his big, blue eyes up to look at her. Thunder? Was that what the loud noise was? Yes, he was very scared of the thunder, but he wasn't going to let her know that. Kohaku furiously shook his head, but ducked down pathetically as another clasp of thunder sounded. Trying to regain some of his dignity he whispered, "Not scared."

Kohaku was having a hard time deciding whether he liked Amy or not. She had taken him away from his family and always made him stay in a cramped little corner of her wagon. Her words were harsh and she was a monster. Yet, there were times when she was kind to the colorful puppy. Amy always answered his questions and she was stroking his back so gently. It made Kohaku feel better and he had calmed down a little.

The pup shook his head, attempting to act brave. The smile remained on her face, watching him crouch pathetically down, body shaking with fear. He was acting fairly brave, insisting that he had no fear when he was so clearly out of his mind with it. He was cuddling up to the female that had taken him away from his family after all! A low chuckle escaped from her at the quiet words. No fear, huh? You're a very brave little pup then. She chuckled again, continuing to softly stroke at his body, soothing him.

He was calming down thankfully. Amy hadn't been too sure what she would do with a frightened pup all night. As soon as the shaking had gone down to reasonable levels she deposited him off his lap. Reaching around she grabbed the dried meat that had been packed as a meal. Not as good as fresh, but she only ever really ate fresh when she was in the pack and came to a kill, or when someone paid her in lovely large chunks of raw meat. She chewed on apiece thoughtfully, holding out another one for Kohaku to take.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

Kohaku hated thunder and its bright counterpart. They were both incredibly scary, although the true source of his fear had been long forgotten. He didn't remember the coyote taking him from his den or the epic chase that his mommy had been involved in, in order to get him back. All Kohaku knew was that he had been scared of thunder and the bright flashes for a long time. Even at his young age he felt a little ashamed for the fear. Neither Lucia nor his mommy was scared of thunder. Being the only one scared was embarrassing and he hated it.

Amy's words made the young male perk up instantly. She had fallen for his lie and no longer thought that he was scared. Kohaku's tiny tail wagged a little, bumping against her legs. She continued to pet him and slowly his eyes closed. The soothing motion felt wonderful and he almost forgot that he didn't like Amy. As sleep threatened to take over the young puppy his head began to dip down and his wagging tail slowed down. After his bout of sheer panic he was tired and hungry. He hadn't eaten as much as he was used too and Amy the monster didn't make any milk for him to drink.

Warm hands wrapped around his belly and Kohaku's head shot up while his eyes flew open. Amy picked him up and deposited him next to her. The tiny male whined in protest. He had calmed down and his shaking had nearly stopped. Her lap was so comfortable and he didn't want her to stop stroking him. Dejected, Kohaku let his rump lad on the furs heavily so he could pout. Why was it that every time he started to think that Amy might not be so bad she did mean stuff again?

The pup's black nose twitched as the scent of meat drifted towards him. A strip of strange looking meat was offered to him and he snatched it up immediately. The first time Amy had offered him the strange meat; the colorful puppy had taken a few moments of pondering and investigation before he actually ate it. Kohaku wasn't used to dried meat as his mommy always hunted for him and let him suckle the rest of the time. That was another thing that made Amy different from his mommy; she didn't hunt for him.

Kohaku pulled at the meat ravenously. Although he was at the age to be weaned, it had been a rather forced event. As he ate, the puppy longed for his mommy's soft belly and her sweet milk.

The pout was ignored as Amy settled down more comfortably, eating her meal. She wasn't out for the pup's comfort. The one to benefit from what she did was herself, and only herself. The pup would work for her, and benefit her. Whether or not the pup was happy with her actions was beside the point. She finished a few strips, looking down to see Kohaku tearing at the offered piece with ferocity. He must have been more hungry than she realized. Amy pulled out a few more strips, a pile that equivocated to a gopher for him to eat. Hopefully that would satisfy his stomach. She didn't have anything else for him to eat after all. Her body had stopped producing milk a month ago after all, finally accepting that there were no pups to suckle.

The fire was a comforting flicker before her. Amy couldn't see the walls of the cavern she had found herself in, much larger than she had expected, leaving her with a circle of light to ward off what else might be down there. The storm hadn't quite broken yet, reminding them of it's presence with an extra loud clap of thunder. It sounded like it was right in the room with them. Amy's ears flinched, pinning down against the intrusion. Her ears had grown more sensitive to such events after the stupid pack medic had tried to make her grow deaf. Even when Amy herself was calm she couldn't help the slight reactions she held, ears twitching back when she'd rather they stayed still. It passed though, her ears returning to how they were supposed to be.

The puppy's pouting was ignored by his caretaker, which only caused him to pout further. Once again, he decided that he really didn't like Amy after all, although his opinion quickly changed when food was offered his way. Much like his mommy, Kohaku had a strong attraction towards food. For him, only two of the three important desires held any influence him: food and sleep. The puppy was too young to understand the last important desire of life.

Kohaku tore at his dried meat, practically inhaling it with the intensity of his gorging. It wasn't that the uninfected puppy liked dried meat, he was simply hungry and realized that he wasn't going to get anything better from Amy. Just as he had nearly finished his singular strip of meat were several more pieces were sent his way. There was more than enough to state his appetite for a while and Kohaku yipped with excitement. His tail wagged and his eyes glinted with anticipation as he pounced on the dried meat. He tore into the meat, growling and pawing at it happily. Kohaku's tiny jaws wrapped around the end of one of the bigger sticks and he shook his head violently as he pulled the meat apart. The pup's young mind had been changed again, deciding that Amy wasn't so bad after all.

The young male's meal was interrupted by an exceptionally loud clap of thunder. Fear gripped at his heart as he yipped in surprise. The action sent him coughing as he temporarily choked on a piece of meat. When his coughing fit subsided a few seconds later he looked around nervously. A bright light shone at the entrance of the den, quickly followed by another, softer clap of thunder. Either way, his nerves were shot and Kohaku dived into Amy's lap again. He hid his head in her belly and his tail sought shelter between his legs.

A soft yip of excitement brought a smile from Amy. She'd been right about how hungry he'd been. A chuckle came from her as he pounced at the pile, practicing hunting skills on the dead meat. They scattered about as he chased them down and swallowed them. Her eyes actually held a warmth to them as he tore through the pile, playing with them. Is that what her pups would have been like? Cheerful, energetic, taking down their meals with such enthusiasm. A true sign of health, having the energy to go after what they wanted. Not sickly and weak like hers had been. Her chest throbbed a little, but Amy pushed it aside, eating more of the meat.

The pup was choking. Rapidly Amy leaned over, making sure he was alright. Relaxing as it subsided Amy leaned back, only to have him shoot back into his lap. It didn't look like she was going to be getting rid of him so easily. Her arms wrapped around him, holding his shaking body close. Silly Keraun. You really are frightened, aren't you? Sighing she laid down next to the fire, letting him stay close. It wouldn't hurt if it was only for tonight. After all, it was storming pretty hard.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

Just like any puppy, Kohaku loved to play and wrestle. He still wasn't comfortable enough with Amy to play with her, but his food was fair game. Kohaku charged after the bits of meat, jumping and growling with as much ferocity as a puppy could manage. He was full of energy, and easily amused. To Kohaku, everything that wasn't scary, was new and exciting. Even if they were just bits of old meat. On top of that, he could eat his new toys as well. The colorful puppy's tail wagged ferociously as he gorged and played, almost forgetting that he was with a monster and that there was thunder.

During the short duration that Kohaku chocked on his food, Amy the monster actually showed some genuine concern for him. She leaned over to see if he was alright and relaxed when his coughing fit stopped. When he dove into her lap she cradled him almost like his mommy used too. However, her words were more confusing then ever. Kohaku braved a quick look around the cave, searching for "Keruan." Confusion filled his features when he saw no other wolf around. Slowly, it dawned on him that she was actually talking to him. "Not Kern," he stated indignantly. "Ko-HA-ku. Ko. HA. Ku."

The small puppy was so fixated on the strange name that he forgot to deny being scared. Even as Amy laid down next to the warm light and allowed him to snuggle close, he still felt a little put off. His name was Kohaku and it was the name his mommy had given him. He was named after his grandfather and it was a name to be proud of his mommy had said. Kohaku wilted a little as he remembered her and became very home sick. He wanted to go back to her. Loneliness took over and he snuggled deep into Amy's fur. Instinctively Kohaku searched for a teat to suckle on.

The indignant response brought a soft laugh from Amy, enjoying holding the puppy near her. Keraun. You are Keraun. She would call him Kohaku as well, but as long as he trembled with fear that was his name. A shame and a reminder of what he was meant to be, more powerful than the tiny trembling source. Maybe one day he'd be as powerful as thunder, an ally for her instead of simply something for her to care for and mold. Right now though that was a long way off, and the name was a mock of what he was.

Feeling him snuggle into her Amy leaned down, gently licking at his head. She would raise him. She would take Kohaku and handle the tool she had been given. He would learn to work into the packs and gather information. He'd charm information from them, and take it back to her. He would hate his mother, and prove that luperci were superior. Kohaku would be her revenge against Kiara. Feeling him nuzzling for a teat Amy gently placed her hand in the way. Better for him to suckle her hand than to attempt to feed from her empty breasts.

KOHAKU AMAROK

OOC here!

Once again, Kohaku had decided that he didn't like Amy. She was calling him by some weird name that he had trouble pronouncing. The puppy liked his name much better and growled a little as she called him Keraun again. Despite that, she seemed to be in a good mood and was laughing softly to herself. Kohaku didn't see what was so funny. His black lips turned down in a frown and he pouted until the memories of his mommy took over. How he missed her so. Her soft, white coat. Her beautiful voice and delicious milk. She was the best mommy ever. If only he had been a good boy. That way, she wouldn't have given him away.

A gentle lick caressed the pup's head and he whined sadly. Amy was acting like his mommy, the closeness of the interaction made him feel a little better. He snuggled closer to her and began to search for a teat to latch onto. Instead, Amy blocked his way and offered her finger instead. Dejected, Kohaku suckled on her finger instead. No milk came from it and it didn't have the same taste. He was gentle with his teeth and soon began to drift off with his mouth still wrapped around her paw.

Kohaku dreamt of his mommy and Lucia. He could see their smiling faces and could play with them again. That was what he wanted more than anything; to be with his mommy and his sister, even if she was stupid sometimes. As the tiny male dreamed of better days, he lay unaware of the plans that Amy had in store for him.
