He felt bad for how awkward he'd been acting around Isa. After all, it was his own bone headed fault they were in this situation. She didn't deserve such treatment. Not when she was such a wonderful, sweet delicate female. She made him smile, and laugh, and feel safe. Best of all, Isa kept thoughts of Selene far from his mind. The slim hybrid didn't plague him as long as he was concentrating on taking care of Isa and making her happy.

A small bundle of food had been prepared. Rabbit, apples, even a couple nuts that he'd found. A blanket was grabbed, and he'd checked to make sure that the house was in good condition, fixing a couple pieces of furniture to make sure that everything was perfect for her. Taking a deep breath he headed back to the room. His tail swayed behind him, sniffing to see if she was there. Not that he could really smell anything. As confident as he could get he lifted his hand and knocked, hoping she was in.

All the signs were there, she was sick quite often, constantly tired, and now her belly was swollen. It wasn’t much of a difference but there was definitely a defined bump protruding from her abdomen. There was no doubt in Isa’s mind that she was pregnant with Hadley’s pups. She debated on whether or not she should even tell Hadley. He had seemed much more distant lately and acted different around her. Perhaps he truly didn’t love her like he had said. He probably wouldn’t want a pup either. She hadn’t even told him she had adopted Cadmeia as well. The kit wasn’t currently in the room, having gone out to probably play with Adelle. With a pup on the way, the room they currently used would be too small to fit all four of them, if Hadley even decided to stay. They would need to move into one of the bigger rooms soon.

Isa finally decided it was best to tell Hadley, she had no idea how she would do it, but she would tell him. She jumped slightly at the knock on the door. Opening the door, she saw Hadley standing there. Why he felt the need to knock instead of just walking into the room they shared, she had no idea. You don’t need to knock Hadley. She didn’t kiss his cheek like she used to, not wanting to do so if he truly didn’t love her. There was still a chance he would leave too. He never showed any sign of wanting to make her his mate, so maybe he really didn’t want her.

The door opened, and there was Isa in all her beauty. He smiled down at her, feeling how different this was from their usual actions. Well, he had come here with a purpose after all. Shrugging he tried to think of what to say. Felt right... If he was doing this, things had to be done in a certain way. Knocking on the door included that. He shuffled awkwardly before looking up at Isa, brown eyes uncertain. She wasn't as affectionate to him, another sign that he'd messed up badly.

He didn't know how he was going to fix this, but at least this was a start. Isa...I have something to show you. It had been fixed for a little while, but with Isa in heat, and the resulting awkwardness afterwards, Hadley had been distracted out of his mind and hadn't truly gotten around to it. This time though, he was going to do it. Hadley would show her the house, and she would have her own private place to settle into when she needed it.

Hadley shrugged at her comment, stating that knocking felt right. Did he not think of the room as his too? Why would he feel like he needed to knock? Oh well, that didn’t matter; Isa had something she needed to tell him. She opened her mouth, about to speak but before she could, Hadley spoke up. Something to show her? What on earth could it be? She would just have to wait and see. Alright. Where are we going? A big smile spread across her face as she stepped out of the room. Cadmeia would be fine on her own for a while if Isa wasn’t there. Besides, she was more than likely with Adelle.

Isa didn’t try to take his hand as they walked like she normally would have. She just didn’t think Hadley wanted to be with her. Perhaps what he wanted to show her was another man for her to spend time with so she would leave him alone. No, that didn’t sound like Hadley, even if he was acting different. He was still a very sweet guy.

As they walked, Isa started to feel nauseous again. She looked over to the tree line then back to Hadley with an apologetic look on her face. Sorry Hadley, I’ll be right back. She then took off towards the trees, wanting to put a bit of distance between them so he wouldn’t see her get sick. Isa returned to his side just a few moments later and gave him a small smile. Sorry about that.

A smile broke out on her face at his words. Hadley's tail wagged lightly. He'd been right. This was a good idea. Fixing the house, bringing a snack, grabbing a blanket. Surely this would cheer her up and make her feel better. Surely this would prove that she was a good person, no one to be ashamed of. Hadley wasn't really sure what he was planning on doing, but he wanted her to be happy, that simple smile giving him a warm glow.

They continued for some time, Hadley a little too aware of the space between them and the fact that she was acting different. Probably a reaction to how he was acting. He felt a little rotten for keeping this a secret, but he was sure she'd like it better as a surprise. Confusion broke out as she ran off. Okay, something was most definitely up. He didn't know what it was, trying to be discreet as he sniffed at her. Nothing. He put an arm around her, looking at Isa worriedly. You okay? The house was a very short distance off, the town pulling into view.

When Isa returned, Hadley brought his arm around her and asked if she was alright. She didn’t know how to tell him but she also didn’t want to ruin the mood since he seemed excited to show her something. It’s nothing. I’ll explain later alright? She was being a little grumpy but having his arm around her seemed to calm her down. Isa leaned into him a bit, nuzzling into chest as her own arm went around him as well. The small town came into view and she looked up at Hadley questioningly. Why were they headed for the house? He didn’t seriously fix it up like he said before did he? It seemed like that might be the case. She didn’t think he would though since she pretty much destroyed the interior of the room. The house finally came into view and she saw the new door and could see a few changes so far. He really did fix up the house, all for her. She stopped walking and stood there with her mouth slightly agape. Looking back to Hadley she finally found her voice again. That’s why you have been so distant, you have been fixing the house for me? She couldn’t believe he went through all that trouble just for her. It wasn’t even inside Casa territory. A very large smile crossed her face as she wrapped her arms around Hadley in a tight hug before she looked up and kissed him softly. Thank you Hadley. It was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her. Maybe he would stay if she told him. Maybe he would want pups. There was only one way to find out. Hadley, I need to tell you something before you show me the rest of the house. She didn’t know how to say it though. Perhaps it would be best to just say it, to just tell him she was pregnant.

Explain later? Something was up. He didn't know what it was, but something was most definitely up with Isa. She nuzzled into his chest, a sign of Isa slowly forgiving him, becoming comfortable to reach out and touch him again. That was good. It felt nice having her warmth again, even with the conflicting memories it sparked. Sooner or later it would slow. Hadley would move on with his life, and maybe stop being haunted by the past. Maybe.

Isa stopped walking as the house came into view. Hadley stepped back, watching her uneasily. Did she like it? Was it okay? Isa finally spoke, asking if he really had done all this. The hybrid nodded his head, looking at the house. It wasn't as good as he wished it was, but better than before. Safer as well, with all the rotten wood removed. Isa moved over, pulling him into a hug. She liked it! His plan had worked! Isa really liked the house!

His tail wagged behind him, happy with the results. A kiss was planted on his lips, the male shocked for a moment before kissing back, the kiss rapidly broken off. He was grinning like a fool at this point, tail wagging behind him. Told she needed to tell him something Hadley nodded. Alright. He could show her the food afterwards.

Hadley stepped back when Isa stopped, seeming unsure what her reaction would be. He seemed thrilled when she hugged him though. She absolutely loved the house and was sure the inside would be equally as great. She needed to tell him though, that way if he got upset, they would both have somewhere to go. Isa still had no idea how to say it or what his reaction would be though. Perhaps it would be best to start off with Cadmeia. Well, I adopted Cadmeia. I know she stayed with you for a bit, but she is going to stay with me permanently. We are going to move into one of the larger rooms soon and if you want, you can come too. I just didn’t know if you would even want to stay, but we need the larger room because, She froze for a moment, suddenly afraid to tell him for some reason. Because I’m pregnant. With absolutely no idea how he would react, Isa made sure to give him some space. Hopefully he would be happy, but there was a possibility he could run too.

The first part of news wasn't so bad. He knew that Isa loved pups, and he loved the tiny kit that he'd rescued. He'd never officially adopted her, thinking that it would be odd if he did, since he wasn't exactly the parenting type like Isa was. Hadley nodded his head in agreement, happy that Cadmeia had a more permanent home beyond the small nest by the fireplace he had made for her. Staying in his room with him had never really been an option, as he'd still been a slave when she'd arrived in Casa, making the thought of having her there extremely awkward.

Told that they would be moving rooms was harder to digest. Hadley had struggled with the first move and leaving Selene behind. Hadley didn't see why they would need a bigger room. Surely all three of them could fit in the current one. He wasn't going anywhere. Hadley opened his mouth to assure her that he would be following when Isa hit him with the big one. He blinked his eyes, thinking that he must have misheard. Isa backed up a bit, and the hybrid realized it wasn't a joke. She was...pregnant. Isa was going to have her very own pups. Pups that could only have one father. Him. What?

Hadley didn’t seem upset when she mentioned that she had adopted Cadmeia. Isa never thought that would be a problem though; Hadley was already close to the fox kit. He seemed to quickly become upset and confused at the mention of a larger room. Perhaps he had gotten attached to the room since the two of them had spent so much time there. He opened his mouth to speak but Isa beat him to it. At first when he was told Isa was pregnant, he simply blinked his eyes, seeming like he didn’t believe it or thought he didn’t hear her right. When she took a few steps back, Hadley seemed to realize she wasn’t kidding. The only thing he managed to say was a single word in the form of a question. What? That was it? Perhaps he didn’t want pups. She never did ask him if he even wanted any, and now she blurted out that she was having his pups. It was probably the worst way to tell him. Hadley, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have just said it like that but yes, I’m having pups. We are having pups. Isa wasn’t sure if he would be happy about it or be scared and take off. She hoped he wouldn’t leave, but she would just have to wait and see.

To have Isa apologize for being pregnant was definitely awkward. True, he hadn't exactly received any warning that she would be pregnant. Then again, Hadley couldn't really imagine any way to break the news with fair warning. Perhaps if they'd been trying for pups, instead of Hadley just deciding that claiming her as his while she was in heat was a good idea. He was responsible for this. Isa was carrying his children. He didn't want to be a father!

It wasn't that Hadley didn't care for pups. He did enjoy their company and innocent nature. He just felt incredibly inaccurate for the job. Someone else, anyone else, would do a much better job with that. Hadley looked at Isa, noting the fear and worry in her. She must be terrified telling him this. How long had she known, and dreaded telling him? Things had been awkward between them, and now this had happened. Shaking his head he stepped over, wrapping his arms around her. No need to apologize. Outside he was calm, a rock for her to cling to. Inside he was having a mental break down, trying to figure out what to do.

Hadley seemed to be very nervous and unsure what to do or say. Isa, herself, wasn’t sure what to say to him. Perhaps she should have told him sooner, maybe when she had started to suspect she was pregnant. Maybe then he could have had a bit of a warning. He should have been able to notice the weight gain though. She had a noticeable bump protruding from her stomach. He had been distant lately though, he probably wasn’t really looking at her. It was also possible that he thought she was just gaining weight.

Isa was both happy and excited to be having pups of her own but she was also worried that Hadley wouldn’t want them. Her fears disappeared though when he stepped towards her and wrapped his arms around her, telling her there was no need to apologize. Her arms went around him as well and she kissed his cheek before speaking. I should have told you when I started suspecting that I was pregnant and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you until now.

Isa's tension went away, letting him support her. That was right. He had said he would take care of her. There was no need for her to worry. Hadley held her close, cradling her warm body. She was pregnant. His mind still reeled with the shock of what had happened, unsure of what to do now. Hadley had thought that somehow Isa would find someone else to love, someone who would care for her and love her back. It looked like that wouldn't happen now, with his pups on the way. Had he destroyed her life? What was he going to do?

Arms held him close, Isa's sweet face coming up. He looked at the scar on her face, knowing that she needed protection. A soft kiss planted on his cheek. Gently he licked at her, mind still whirling. Pups. His pups. What was he going to do? He couldn't show it though. Not to Isa. She'd just worry, and try to fix things by taking all the responsibility on herself. Hadley couldn't let her do that. It's fine. His words were automatic, looking over at the house. It looked like she wouldn't be using it for a while.

Hadley gently licked her as she kissed his cheek. He claimed that everything was fine but she knew him better than that. Isa knew he was more than likely panicking inside but he wasn’t going to show it, not to her at least. She didn’t know what she could do to help calm him down, she was rather nervous as well. She was pregnant for the first time. She was going to be a mother. Hadley I know you, I know you are probably trying to hide how much you are freaking out inside. It’s ok to be scared about pups coming. In all honesty, I’m scared too. I’ve never had pups before, I don’t know what it’s going to be like. I don’t know if I’ll be a good enough mother for the pups. I know I adopted Cadmeia but she is also old enough that she can take care of herself most of the time. All I really do is give her attention. She was terrified at that point and she could feel tears starting to form. What if she wasn’t a good enough mother? What if their pups didn’t want her as a mother? What if Hadley left and didn’t want her or their pups? So many things scared her but she needed to be strong or else Hadley would fall apart as well.

She wrapped her arms around Hadley and held on tight. You will be a good father Hadley. I know you will. Everything will be alright as long as we have each other. Isa wasn’t sure if she would be able to handle it on her own. Sure she would have the packs help but it wouldn’t be the same as having the father of her pups beside her.

Isa's words brought him back down. Guiltily he looked at her as she spoke. It looked like he hadn't done as good a job hiding his worry as he'd thought. Now Isa was trying to sooth him at a time when she was the one that needed the most protection. Her own fears were spoken out loud, intermingling with the ones that Hadley hadn't voiced. His belief of being incapable of love. Fearing hurting Isa. Fearing that he wouldn't be a good enough father, that she or the pups would be hurt because he had fallen short of what he should have been.

He stroked her back softly. You're good with Cadmeia. Good with the other girl too. He didn't know the large pup he often saw barreling through Casa off on one adventure or another. He did know that she was friends with Isa though, something that he didn't want to damage, making him even more reluctant to approach someone with enough strength to run him over without thinking too much on it, again forgetting his own strength. You'll be the best mother they could wish for.

Isa nodded as Hadley spoke. He seemed so sure that she would make a good mother even though she wasn’t sure. She gave him a smile and a quick kiss though. Come on, let’s go see the inside. She was excited to see all the work he had put into the house for her. It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for her. She already knew she would love the house, she only hoped they would be able to use it often. She couldn’t wait for their pups to see it either. Hopefully they would like it too.

Isa came close, giving the still shocked male a quick kiss. This was definitely going to take time to adjust to. Stuffing the thoughts about the pregnancy as far back into his mind as he could the hybrid nodded at Isa's words, looking at the carved door again. It was a fairly simple design, but it gave a nice feeling to the house, he thought. Taking Isa's hand he walked up, pushing on the door. It swung open without a problem, no sign of the hinge repairs that he'd had to do. Relieved his tail wagged slightly, stepping all the way in.

Sharp eyes scanned the interior, looking over where he had done repairs. Patches in the wall where it didn't quite match everything else, the crooked stair railing, the simple furniture. Hadley hadn't had time to paint the walls with anything, even if he had been able to find paint. Everything was at the simplest level, untouched by the others. The large male moved over to let Isa look over the house, hoping that she would forgive the house's flaws and like it anyways.
