Word Count :: 781 || Points: 7 I wasn't aware that Grand Lake was claimed until after I was done writing this... So, we'll assume that the scents around the lake aren't strong enough to tell her its part of a pack yet? PM me if you have a problem with this...

After just coming home from the area a few weeks ago, Rio found herself here again. She was in her lupus form, fit for traveling a faster way. She probably would have done better in her Secui form, but for some reason she never wanted to be in that form. Maybe it was too muscly for her; either way, she didn’t feel comfortable in it and so avoided it at all costs. She ran most of the way, stopping for short breaks in between and walking. She was just passing New Dawn, and passed Sunflower Sunsets just a little while ago. She remembered the peculiar male she met there, Alexander. He wasn’t much to remember, but since she was passing by she remembered him. Then the other male she met in New Dawn by the church. The owl sat on her back that attacked her that day. He was loyal to her now, and she didn’t know why. The bird was great, and pretty heavy for a bird, but he enjoyed the whole journey carefully perched on Rio’s back, and flew behind her when she ran.

Rio was careful when passing packs, and didn’t get too close to their borders. She didn’t feel like dealing with any run-ins today. She just wanted to get as far West as she could and enjoy a stay there for a little while. It was early afternoon on her seventh day of travel. The sun was beaming down, which caused her tongue to loll out of her mouth. She was hot and tired, but she wouldn’t stop to rest just yet. When she got wherever her feet would take her, then she would rest as much as she wanted.

After about an hour of walking, she switched into high gear again and began to run. She felt good knowing that running was clearing her mind, giving her more muscles, and getting her to wherever she was going faster. The owl hooted in protest, but followed after her, flying with its huge wingspan. She had yet to name him, and didn’t exactly know what he should be called. She wondered if getting to know the animal would bring her closer to finding a name for him… Or would a name just come to her, and the bird would live up to it?

Before she knew it, she was pretty far West and she could barely walk anymore. She came to a huge lake, bent down and lapped some water from it. The owl perched back on her back again. When she was done drinking water, she looked around to what she could see of whatever was around it. To the north, there weren’t many trees- the humans must’ve gotten to them. And to the side she was closest to, there were houses. Some of them were in pretty bad shape, and some were acceptable. She slowly walked along the shoreline of the lake, looking for a decent house she could sleep in for a few hours. The fifth house that she passed looked like the best one yet, and the door wasn’t closed. So, she padded up the stairs and into the house, pushing the door as much closed as it would go. It was a two story house, and what upstairs looked like, she didn’t want to know. Downstairs looked like it would let her sleep for a few, and that was all that mattered.

Rio picked the comfier couch, and sprawled out across it. The owl perched itself on the back of another couch across the room. His big yellow eyes watched over her as she fell into a well needed deep sleep. The animal kept his big eyes on her, not moving from the couch the whole time. His hearing was awesome, and he would know when someone was coming from a long distance away..

Rio was woken up five hours later by the owl. He kept hooting in her ear, somehow making his way to the back of the couch she was sleeping on. She growled deeply at it, but the owl kept hooting. She didn’t smell anything out of the ordinary, but the bird was persistent. She rose from the couch, and it stopped. She stretched, yawned, and squeezed out of the door. She walked out onto the porch, and sat on the end of the steps with the owl closely behind her. He perched himself on the banister of the porch and looked out into the sunset. Rio lay down on the porch, but stayed awake. She looked out over the lake, just watching life as it got ready for nightfall. She would have to hunt soon, but not yet.

Adlarto’k was, as far as the Obsidian alpha was concerned, part of his packland. They hadn’t yet picked where to put their boarders and had therefore not been actively marking the land, but it would be kept up soon enough. Oddly, there were reoccurring scents that seemed to be appearing regularly around the edges of the lake. That it might be another pack was possible. Jaden wasn’t sure what to make of it. He had gone out to look for more markings this day in hopes of catching someone inaction, someone he could question. The scent of a female registered as strange in his mind and he pursued her at a casual pace.

He would represent Sangilak well if she was indeed one of these mystery wolves. His optime form stood tall and decorated nicely with the straps of his weapons sheaths. Only they with their weapons and a few fur trophies he had attached covered his body and he wore them proudly. The break in his ribs was ever-present, even now putting a slight limp into his step. He could hide the pain but not the still fresh gash on it. He tried not to think back on how he had acquired that. It would do no good to his conflicted heart to ponder such things now. He had to focus. There was a wolf who needed meeting somewhere ahead.

The scent trail lead to the ruins bordering the lake. A cautious eye scanned over all of the surrounding buildings carefully. It was often his memory recalled unfriendly encounters in towns like this. But nothing came of the dark windows and tired wood. And the one he sought appeared soon enough. The man stopped at a respectful distance and gave a respectful nod before calling out in a warm but reserved voice, Good day stranger. How has the day treated you?

Scents of others were in the area, but Rio put it beside her. There seemed to be a pack nearby – maybe a little too close by. When she smelled the scent of a male approaching, it didn’t surprise her much. Maybe she was already on pack lands, and she hadn’t realized it. She rose up from laying into a sitting position, just in case he wasn’t friendly. She could always run, since she wasn’t much of a fighter.

When he approached, she noted his handsome features and his calm manner- but she didn’t relax. She still didn’t know if she wasn’t supposed to be there or not, and she didn’t know who he was. She dipped her head in respect, ”I’m alright.” She also noted that his body was heavily injured. Rio had been studying herbology to go into the medicine rank, but she wasn’t up to the part of healing yet. His wounds looked taken care of, but they still seemed to need wrapping. ”Are you okay?” She looked over his body, concerned. There was scars at every inch of his fur, some bigger than others. ”Wow,” the owl hooted behind her, and she was thinking the same thing. He apparently doesn’t have much luck.

It's okay =)

HERP. Almost 300!

Jaden had his share of luck, good and bad. Most of his injuries spawned from choices he made, the choice to attack Salsola, the choice to throw himself at a cougar to save his beloved friend. Had he had a window into this strange female’s mind clearer than her concerned words and wandering eyes, it would have had him laughing. As things were, the man felt something he didn’t often feel: self-conscious. For some odd reason, the violet eyes of this she-wolf were a little embarrassing. Why, he didn’t know, but it brought a grin of confidence in his defense. He stood strong to show that there was still no weakness in his spirit despite the condition of his body.

Oh, I am better than I ever have been, I assure you, he said with a slightly dry laugh. This wasn’t a lie either. Though his body was damaged and his heart conflicted, not a time in his life had been happier and more fulfilling. The pack that was beginning to form on this land had him and X’yrin to thank. He had never done something more worth his while. Jaden looked up at her with kindness and analyzed her as she had him. There wasn’t a whole lot to look at as far as muscle went on her, but her muzzle seemed almost perfectly slender, cheek bones nicely angled. It was enough to compensate. He knew without a doubt by the first look at this female that she was no fighter and it was all the more reason to believe she was part of the nearby band. He eyed her feathered companion curiously as he spoke again. My name is Jaden Ohanzee, Alpha of Sangilak. It is pleasant to meet you.

Rio’s eyes found it hard to leave the brute’s scarred body. She didn’t see these many cuts on one wolf often. She couldn’t help her concern for him, but he seemed okay enough to travel. His words gave her extra reassurance even if she didn’t believe her eyes. As she heard ‘alpha’, she found herself dipping her head in respect towards him. ”It’s a pleasure. I’m Rio Marino, daughter of Naniko, the Angela of Anathema.” Since they were stating importance, why not? She hated being humble when she was the daughter on an alpha. Though, it really didn’t give her much importance – sometimes it made others ogle at her.

”Am I in your territory by any chance?” She was paranoid. He clearly came out of nowhere, which could have been a sign that she was somewhere where she wasn’t supposed to be. ”Cause I could leave if it’s a problem…” She really didn’t want to have a bad run-in with this male. He looked like he could handle himself well, and she really couldn’t. She was lucky when she won that fight against Akira. Well, actually she didn’t even win. Nobody did, but she held her own, which made her feel proud of herself.

The owl behind her hooted. He apparently wasn’t much of a talker because all he did was hoot. Rio shot the bird a glance. She still didn’t have a name for it, and she wouldn’t until she found a suitable one for him. The great bird flapped its wings, creating a large gust of wind pouring down on the two dark furred wolves. Rio felt the dirt that he blew up all cake onto her fur. She rose and shook what she could of it off, making a big dust cloud. She looked at the male, embarrassed, ”Sorry.”

There was still a hint of worry in her eye and it kept his confidant demeanor alive. That she would spare so much thought for a stranger showed that there was probably a sweet heart under her dark fur. He also enjoyed the respect she showed and found it interesting that she was a daughter of the Anathema Alpha. As of yet he had only met two wolves that hailed from those lands and both had been oddities. He was under the impression that wolves only found refuge there if they were strange or prone to bouts of aggression. Rio seemed like neither as she introduced herself. She had a pretty name too. You actually are, but don’t worry. We have only just gotten here so the boarders aren’t clearly marked.

He dipped his head in acknowledgement of her. Respect was even more important now that he knew who he was dealing with. How Anathema operated was a mystery to Jaden, but he knew that some packs forfeited leadership to their young. She could be an important ally for the future. This also meant that she wasn’t part of the mystery group but he found it difficult to be disappointed.

A conversation starter sat on the tip of his tongue but was defeated by a harsh gust of wind. His arms came up and shielded his eyes from the bits of dust and dirt that were thrown forward. He had seen the owl’s wings flap before it was hidden by the dark fur of his own arms and knew the little gust would let up quickly. When it did, he couldn’t help but sneeze as he brushed the dirt from his arms and chest. The wisps of dust he caused mingled with hers and they were both surrounded by a small cloud that settled slowly. It’s quiet alright, He rubbed the dirt out of his eyes and shook his head as well. Thought slightly annoyed, he wasn’t the type to snap because of something so insignificant. Have you had your pet for long?

Rio felt it was the time to shift. She wasn’t shy shifting in front of other, although some thought shifting as a thing done in private. She didn’t wear clothes as of yet, so either way it didn’t matter to her. Her limbs began to elongate from Lupus to Optime, and during which she still found it suitable to keep talking to him. ”Um, well he’s not exactly my pet. More like a companion, I guess. He just followed me from New Dawn, and hasn’t left my side since then.” She left out the part where he attacked her first, then decided to become her new pet. ”I still don’t know what to call him. I figured he would earn his name at some point…”

By now, Rio’s long black hair fell forward from her shoulders and she sat leaning on her left hip on the porch, with her left arm holding herself up. She moved to the edge of the stairs, now sitting on the edge of the top one, and letting her legs rest on the next row. When she had herself situated, she looked back up at him, ”Sangilak? Never heard of it.” Must be one of those new forming packs, but shouldn’t she had heard of it through the grape vine?

The owl flew from its perch on the porch banister to Rio’s shoulder. Rio growled, and took the owl off of her shoulder, placing him down on the porch next to her. Stop it! she hissed at the bird, but it seemed to not care. It hooted and stood there like nothing happened. At least the owl was good at being rejected.

Rio took her eyes away from the bird, and back on Jaden. He was a good looking brute; obviously, he could take care of himself despite all his injuries. He was still standing there. The black femme smiled up at him, not realizing it. She wondered if he would be the male to give her a reason to leave Anathema. She knew she didn’t belong there. Sure, she had a few problems in her past, but none that she carried with her today. Anathema was a pack full of mischievous characters, and Rio didn’t fit that description at all. She was the complete opposite. She wanted to go somewhere where her sophistication was appreciated.

500+!!!

When the dirt and dust was clear from his vision, Jaden looked up to see that Rio had begun to shift. He had never met anyone who was afraid to shift in the view of another so thoughts of how such a thing might be awkward completely escaped him. He watched plainly as her back legs lengthened into strong appendages to hold her weight and her front paws sprouted the dexterous digits required to use tools of any kind. And, when all was said and done, he admired her form absentmindedly. She was still not the most attractive female he had ever seen but still held an easily recognizable beauty about her. The male’s thoughts didn’t stray much farther past that point though. He had spent too much time worrying over a conflicted heart recently to forgo heavy thoughts of attraction for a stranger.

Rio even managed to keep up their conversation whilst she shifted and commented on the avian trouble maker. She was not the first wolf he had met who had taken one as a pet. An odd realization struck him upon thinking back to the others. Every wolf he had met with a feathered friend had not only been female, but had also helped him selflessly or become one of his dearest friends. Perhaps birds were a fine judge of character. It warmed him a little bit more toward the other obsidian wolf but he waited to answer her until she had herself situated. He took a breath to answer when her lovely lavender eyes looked up to him again but was beaten to the punch by a questioning statement. As I said, we have only been here a short while. No doubt we will be acknowledged in due time. He smiled confidently at her and his voice hinted that here was good reason to acknowledge Sangilak. They would be a strong pack.

He looked on Rio and thought over what she had said for a moment. She had an avian friend that had met her near New Dawn and she was the daughter of Anathema’s leader. Kin to an Alpha was a precious position to hold. That she had been near New Dawn and now found herself in his territory proved that she wasn’t afraid to travel about. Jaden didn’t know of Anathema’s relations with other packs, but wouldn’t it be a bit dangerous for Rio to just wander about? She was heavy leverage should any enemy of her home find the apparently defenseless woman and capture her. Jaden took a few steps closer, invited in by her relaxed position in his presence. He watched her with deal with the defiant animal that came to rest on her shoulder. He was unable to understand the low-speech but picked up on Rio’s annoyed tones and held his tongue until she was ready to speak with him again. Her gaze returned and signaled that he had her attention once more but he also felt that he might have been being admired by it. He smiled at the slightly flattering thought before speaking, What are you doing so far from home, Rio?

A few times it did find her, but all the times without weighed out the bad times. If she lived by the fear of running into danger, she would never leave her den. She wanted to be the exact opposite of a scared little girl and go out and explore to land for what it really was. ”I always make sure I travel around.” She really didn’t know what to say to that. She wasn’t sure if she should explain herself or just brush him off. ”Being out in the open lands makes me less afraid of my surroundings.” Jaden didn’t know her past, and why she would be afraid of her surroundings. This was her own type of therapy to fix her fear of being outside of Anathema. So far, it was doing her good.

Rio shifted uncomfortably thinking about Harlowe and her fear of everything. She had to fight off another once, Akira, and if you asked her – she did a pretty good job fending them off of her food. Of course, after, they wound up becoming her pack mate. She wanted revenge so bad, but the laws and her respect for the pack kept her on a firm leash.

After a few moments the owl fluttered back up to its original post, which calmed Rio’s nerves a bit. She still was a little nervous about what the bird might actually do to her, after the first time he attacked. She wasn’t sure just how loyal it was to her, and if it actually had a reason to be, maybe she wouldn’t be nervous at all. Rio didn’t get to socialize much, and so the awkward silences between the two were more awkward than ever. Rio frantically tried in her mind to come up with something clever to ask him, but awkward questions just came about instead: ”Are you ruling Sangilak with your mate?” Hell, it was only small talk anyway.

Did she see past his simple question to extract the concern that hid behind it? It seemed like she might have with the questioning look she had that alighted her pretty features. He met it with a continually innocent and well-meaning smile. She went on to counter his observation with words that made her sound both brave and humble, quite a feat that most could not pull off in so few words. Everyone around here is kind enough. A pretty wolf like yourself would only find trouble in Alistair and his flirting. Jaden complimented shamelessly.

There was a bit of a silence that settled between them soon after that. The Obsidian male knew of many questions he could ask but opted not to. Rio seemed to be thinking rather intently about something and was afraid he might interrupt. It only prolonged their quiet moment until the other broke it with a sudden question. It left a lot of assumptions to the male. Why ask about his mate specifically? Was she that interested in him? Of course, he could have been just looking too far into her simple question. There was a strong possibility this was the case, but he was still embarrassed by her question. His claw slid back and rubbed at his neck lightly while laughed dryly before he answered, It is a bit more complicated than that. His warm smile melted into an awkward grin. We are very good friends, but to call her and I mates? Behind that awkward grin the confliction of present circumstances and small bits of pain lingered but he chose not to touch at them. Rio was doing well at distracting him from all of that at the moment. No, not mates. Not yet, at least.

That last bit was all he could manage without thinking too hard about it and possibly souring his mood. The conversation needed to be diverted from this subject and he tried smoothly. And what about you? You have no family that fear for your safety out here all by yourself? The question landed again on what he thought to be her inability to defend herself. It wasn’t insensitivity that drove it, but genuine concern. He had seen much bigger, much more skilled fighters nearly meet their ends at the jaws of the wild.

That table was too damn bright O.O

Maybe he was right. Maybe she was too vulnerable out here all by herself. Rio gave it some thought, and with her not even being able to fight – it kind of made her a piece of meat. The kind that was dangled just over the hungry, snapping jaws of a wolf pack. Good thing she didn’t come into contact with anyone that wanted to hurt her because they would have succeeded easily. Rio gave him a troubled smile; she was a little embarrassed to find that he was right and she probably looked like an idiot telling him all of that. She knew it wasn’t true, and he probably did too. If she would have felt threatened, she would run – and who knew how far that would get her before she got tired? She couldn’t run forever.

”Flirting never hurts.” Not the mental or emotional kind anyway. The kind that Harlowe knew quite well did. She sensed his awkwardness at the question and almost immediately regretted asking him. From this small conversation she was having with him, she was already learning what his personality was like. He was timid, in a way, almost like her, and he seemingly didn’t like to share personal information. She was okay with that- she wouldn’t ask him anything like that anymore. ”Not yet? Oh.” That meant she didn’t have a chance with him. If he was pursuing love with another, it was a hopeless case.

What was she thinking anyway? She just met this wolf and already she was planning on making him her mate. Maybe that was just the insecurities she had. She felt that no one would ever love her, or she would never get the chance to love someone else as most of the good ones were all taken. She did like the way he carried himself, and the way he was. She could see them together, with harmony. Not to mention he was pretty handsome. His fur was smooth and clean – they would make nice puppies together.

A dreamy smile surfaced on her features as she imagined her dream life, with him. The smile quickly faded, though, as she was brought back to reality and the question about her family didn’t help either. ”My mom, she has so many kids she doesn’t have enough of herself to care for them all. The older ones are pretty much left to fend for themselves. She left me and my siblings when we were young, and I never knew where she was. So, I left too thinking I would be better off, but I came back. And when I came back, she was the first person I sought.” She didn’t want to make it a big story or anything, ”She took me into her pack with open arms and helped me get settled, but I haven’t really seen her since. She’s the Angela, I understand. She’s busy, but she doesn’t make the effort, and the pack – I don’t feel like I belong there.” Here she was spilling her guts to this stranger, but sometimes strangers were the best ones. He looked like he would be willing to help her if she needed it. ”Anathema is made up of rogues – wolves that have a dark past. I have somewhat of a dark past, but it wasn’t because of anything I did. I never killed anyone or hurt anyone like they did, and I don’t plan to in the future.” Rio rested her head in her hands, ”I need somewhere where I belong.”

Jaden didn’t really see himself as a “Ladies man”. To admit such a thing wasn’t him. Other more boastful males might, but he had never seen the need to label himself as such or try for female attention. More and more lately, he was realizing just how easy it was to talk to the opposite sex. Oddly enough, Rio wasn’t the first to pour out part of their life story to him on just their first meeting. Maybe it was that he was easy to trust. That would be the best conclusion for he had no plan to use anyone whose trust he earned. He truly had no plans to mistreat this sweet female. She seemed innocent before her short story proved that she was. If he hadn’t already had so many love troubles, he would have looked to Rio as a fine possibility. She was, by far, the most innocent wolf to show an interest in him.

He heard the slight disappointment in her voice at his mention of someone else. That meant she understood where he was in terms of availability, there was no need for any more awkwardness. Just because he had no deep interest in an intimate relationship didn’t mean friendship was out of the question, did it? So he returned her smile even though it didn’t seem to be directed toward him precisely and listened.

Rio offered a deeper understanding of what Anathema was built upon then the obsidian alpha had known before. So they were all rogues? Honestly, Jaden hadn’t been sure what to make of them before. There were members of Anathema that were good wolves at heart and hated him keenly, while there were also incredibly dark hearted wolves that liked him. One had even gotten extremely close during a bout of less than innocent drinking. The memory was always embarrassing even though what he could remember of it had been quite good. Thinking back on it distracted him momentarily while he hoped Rio had no knowledge of it. He didn’t know how loose lipped Amy was about such things.

Somewhere where I belong. Those words caught his attention. Though Anathema was a fit for the darker crowd, for wolves like Jaden actually was, he could see how Rio might feel alienated from them. He smiled at her warmly, There might be sometime you need to hurt another to protect yourself, to survive. In Sangi’lak we understand and train for such times. It is rare that anyone can make it through life unscathed. His scared body was a testament to this. Easy steps brought him to the porch and he climbed the few steps to find a place no sit next to the other wolf. The leather straps that held the weapons to his body groaned gently while they stretched to accommodate the new shape of his muscled form. I don’t know if you know where you belong yet, but you are welcome in these lands. We have plenty of room… He looked at her with honest blue eyes. She was just the type of wolf he wanted to see become part of his family. But he left the statement soft at the end. There was no pressure behind the words, just a gentle offer.

No, it was orange… lol [WC: 584 || Pts: 5]

When he came closer to her to sit next to her, all the thoughts about him becoming her mate broke away. She did like him, but there might be others out there just like him that would give her the time of day. She moved a little away from him to turn and face him from the side, resting one leg on the porch indian-style while the other remained in its original place. "There was once, actually. And I didn’t do that bad, but training would be greatly appreciated if you have the time. I’m sure I’ll be back around here to see you again- this land’s not that big.” More and more she was making herself scarce from Anathema. Even though she thought about taking on the medical rank, she had no intentions of really improving on it yet. She wanted to find somewhere where she would fit in. Having black fur was the only trait that connected her to Anathema, nothing else. Maybe aside from her family all being there, but that wasn’t important to her. She barely saw any of them, either, and even if she did want to see someone – she could always go back to visit.

Her eyes has drifted away from him and his scarred body to her hands which sat loosely on her lap. She was picking at her fingers aimlessly and awkwardly, and when she heard his last statement, she looked up at him with bright eyes, ”Well, thank you. I appreciate that very much. I will definitely keep you in mind when I finally do leave Anathema. It suddenly became a plan; she would leave Anathema soon. She didn’t know where she would go, and maybe she wouldn’t go anywhere yet. Maybe she would find a house that was suitable enough to accommodate her for a little while and take refuge in there. At least she wouldn’t be known to live anywhere, and if someone did find out where she lived, she could always just pack up and go.

Her stomach growled internally; she felt it and hoped he didn’t hear it. She needed to hunt, and she needed to go, too. Whether or not she hated Anathema, she needed to touch base there every couple of days before setting off to somewhere new. She figured she’d kill something small on her way back. She got up off of the porch, walking down the stairs and stretching when she got to the sandy dirt of Grand Lake. She stretched every muscle she could, and cracked a few bones that needed to be cracked while doing so. When she was done doing all that, she turned back to him. ”I have to go if I want to reach Anathema before the day after tomorrow. I’ll see you again, I hope?” It was more of a question than a statement. He was stationed all the way West, and she might come back here eventually, maybe even permanently.

The owl flew from his perch and landed on Rio’s shoulder; this time she didn’t complain. She let it sit there. She looked out into the wilderness, the direction that she came from. She dreaded the travel, but she dreaded getting back to Anathema even more. She probably should shift into Lupus form, but not now. ”Even if I don’t join your pack, will you still teach me how to fight?” She spoke it cutely and she smiled when she finished. He was still handsome, and it didn’t mean she couldn’t flirt.

So Rio had fought only once in her life? The fact seemed comical to him not, not for sarcastic or otherwise demeaning reasons, but because he had been in more fights than he could count by his first birthday. That anyone could get through a reasonable amount of their life with only a single fight seemed a ridiculous notion to him. But apparently it happened. The obsidian man speculated at exactly how old Rio was. Definitely not a pup… maybe about as old as he was?

And to his offer she was grateful. The way her words rang made it seem like she might be planning to leave her pack soon. Jaden hadn’t expected her to drop everything for him, a simple stranger, just at the offer. Doing so would have likely made him suspicious of her. But her polite voice and slightly awkward tendencies had still had him convinced she was innocent. I will be here, He replied to the now standing woman from where he sat on the porch, and I’ll try my hardest. I’m sure you could handle yourself easily… with just a little bit of guidance, the grin he flashed her then was accompanied by a less than innocent gleam to his dark blue eyes. The return of her slight flirting was more a reaction than planned out or meaningful sweet-talk. His gaze may have traced her graceful form shamelessly when she didn’t have her lavender watch on him but he couldn’t help it. Wasn’t such a thing expected when a male met a nice female?

It was nice to meet you, Rio Marino, Jaden nodded her a friendly farewell when he noticed her intent to leave. Please do stop and say hello if you find yourself this far west again in the future. He stayed seated and watched for her and her companion to leave.

Ooc.

Rio nodded and dipped her head, then turned to leave. She left the man sitting on the porch and ventured toward the way she came. The owl followed her, but passed her to fly up ahead. He couldn’t fly as slow as she walked, and she couldn’t walk as fast as he could fly, at least in this form anyway. The ebony-colored female continued in the direction until he couldn’t be seen sitting on the porch anymore. The she shifted down. She didn’t want to pull another form changing scene before him, so she waited until she was out of his sight.

She paused before a forest that she would have to cross and let her limbs shrink in size. The owl had come back around to circle her a few times before she was done. When she was, now in Lupus form, she plunged into the forest at a fast pace. The owl flew up above the trees nearby because trees weren’t easy to fly through. He kept his eyes on what he could see of her with his excellent vision. Rio continued to run through the forest, while it eventually turned into the Dampwoods as she neared Anathema. The journey was long, and there was a lot of traveling left, but running was helping it go by quickly. She had left the male hours ago, and secretly hoped they would meet again soon.

Even though he seemed to not be interested in her, she did like him. She wished he was available – he would be an ideal mate to her, but not everything goes the way it was planned in the beginning. Maybe the male had been on the market earlier, and if she had visited Grand Lake just a few weeks before, she might have caught him before he showed interest in any other female. Though, as usual she was late, but she didn’t doubt that she would find her match someday.
